two weeks until xmas vacation and the kids are already crazy as hell.  that's no good...

i did a remote this weekend for the salvation army's angel tree. i even adopted an angel myself.

i was looking at the angel tree and thinking... each one of these angels represents a child. a real child. and god, i cannot stand the thought of any child's having to do without. i know what that is like, and i wish i could keep these babies from ever having to experience that. i wish i had millions of dollars to give them all new clothes and toys and trust funds for college.

i don't get it. i mean, how can kids go to bed hungry each night while people are earning 40 million dollars a year to play basketball or make movies? sure, you get what you work for (and i am in no way calling any wealthy person selfish) and all, but.... i just wish that economic dispairity did not exist.

i breaks my heart. i do what i can to make a difference here, but... i wish i could do more.

Another job that I didn't get!!!!!    :P

They interviewed me for about 2 1/2 hrs - and I couldn't even get a simple call back to tell me no go - I had to call the company's hr director to find out - but then again, I wasn't 100% sold on the company either.

Well, another one down & 2007 is a new year.   Here's to keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I could tell you stories that probably don't want to here.  Here's the kid we're trying to help this year:  Client of mine has custody of grandchild because mom was killed while riding a bike on a busy road in November and dad is incarcerated for many years for criminal child neglect (he was passed out with a crack pipe in his hand while he was babysitting the kid in park).  It's more than just economic disparity - it's shocking neglect.  If you want to meet our next generation of lost souls, I could take you to work with me in my little county and introduce you to 100's of them every week.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

Car repairs - UUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

Change my own oil - find a minor coolant leak - water pump lows out the next day - change that & try to change the belt while I'm at it - no fucking way....

Who ever heard of taking the motor mounts off & jacking the engine up just to change a simple belt?  A 15 minute simple job on my last car is now a couple hour labor intensive painful operation ( that I haven't finished yet)

I can honestly say that I've never been so exhausted (physically, mentally, etc.) in my life.  This week I'm working 60 hours between my two jobs.

I've been working outside at my 'regular' job, 9 hours a day in -25 temperature and it's just killing me.  It's grueling work, but thankfully we finished today.  Then I come home and have a shower, eat and head to my part-time job, which is the best job ever, but it's still time away.  Factor in spending time with a lovely gal I'm 'courting', and catching up with two friends who just moved home, and I'm a mess.  I'm running off two hours sleep now, and am 9 hours down, 5 to go for this workday.

It'll soon be over...

Snowed a bit overnight and most of that is gone; at least at my house. Now it's f'n snowing/sleeting/misting here again. DAMMIT. Weather please hold out until late tonight after my Xmas party is over or close to being over. We've worked like indentured servants on getting the house ready and assloads of food made. urg....

I was thinking about you.   I don't think we are even going to attempt to go to my aunt's house anymore.  It's not bad now but it looks like there is another 4 or 5 inches coming and colder temperatures.   Stay safe.  Hope it holds off for you.

If you need me to come over tommorow to just eat the leftover food, let me know. ;)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

HA! Leftovers are everywhere. Yeah, the weather totally blew which means we were lucky if half the people showed up. Oh well. I think we will be moving our party to the summer.

My house sits at the beginning of Main Street in my town. There is are 2 stop signs in front of my house and it is not uncommon to see 15 people run either stop sign in a given hour. OK, so at 2 in the fucking morning I'm talking to the local Police as some drunken asshole ran the stop sign directly in front of my house, ran over the 4 foot high bush that is at the front of my yard (placed there for this very purpose by the previous owners), slammed into one of my trees, ricocheted off the tree destroying half the landscaping on that part of the yard including over a dozen concrete border pieces, peeled out through 2 sections of my yard and finally left my property after taking out a street sign that is in my backyard. The PoPo tracked this idiot down by following the carnage she left behind in other yards and the trail of car parts. They cannot charge her with drunken driving since there are no witnesses. They can only charge her with leaving the scene of an accident. I have several hundred $$'s worth of damage to my yard and Xmas lights. Judging by the amount of car parts in my yard and how far they are into the yard they were thrown, she didn't even slow down at the stop sign and had to be going at a high rate of speed.

On top of this, I have a ragging head cold and my girl is sick again.

That sucks man!!!  That happened to my parents a couple years ago - when I still lived at home - I had gotten home from being out with some friends at around 2am - I hadn't been in bed for 20 minutes when this weird rumbling/crashing sound came from outisde the window.  This young guy (20-21) comes up & knocks at my parents door at 2:30 in the morning asking to use a phone - He had flipped his car through a tree 2 houses down & rolled his car through our neighbors yard into ours & his car came to a rest leaning upside down on a tree in my parents yard.   He called to get a ride, but he didn't want the cops to come (obviously)  We're like "hey man, your car is upside down on our tree"  Cops came - he went in with them (he was ok - no injuries)

Not unless you live in the sleepy town of Waterloo, IL. There are 5 bars all within a less then 1 mile radius of my house. They love to drink in this town.

OK, the Officer stopped by again. He had pictures of Drunkie McDrunk Drunk's car. Her right front tire was completly jack-knived and folded over. I am not sure how she even drove away. The sheer mechanics of it are mind boggling. She also drove through 3 other yards and when she hit the country roads, she took out several mail boxes. jeez fucking louise. People, for any that are partying this weekend, call a cab or designate a driver. I love y'all but I don't want nonya in my front yard or front living room if you miss hitting my trees.

Does rccola not know he's had two pms in waiting for several days? Or does he just feel like not telling me?  :-/

Along with the Christmas time hustle and bustle, came a very messed room.  Yesterday I decided to work on cleaning the clothe covered floor, only to discover my pair of headphones snapped into tiny little pieces.  I guess sometime over the past few days I stepped on them, they're now gone to the 'parts pile' since the headpiece was beyond repair.

It could have been worse - this was on our local news a couple of weeks ago:

This was the incredible scene after a car cartwheeled more than 100ft through the air before embedding itself in a first-floor flat.

John Gordon's Volvo took off after hitting a tree on a roundabout and flew until it crashed into the flats 15ft off the ground and facing backwards.

The car smashed into a lounge where 19-year-old Laura Stevens had been a few seconds earlier.

Driver died, but passengers (and apartment occupant) all OK...

I agree - if you're going to drink, either walk or get a cab.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side
