With my precious Jays watching on, my money is on the Twins. I'm also really looking forward to the Yankees/Tigers series.
I'm pulling for the Twins with Canuck Justin Morneau or the Tigers. Maybe we'll see the Jays in the wild card game next year... hopefully.
[glb]GO REDBIRDS![/glb]
Go Twins!!!!!.....I can't believe we won the Central.....Twins only time leading the division was the last day of the season......congrats to Joe Mauer for winning the batting title as well....I am so happy.
no reds, too bad. maybe next year. now i'm going for the dodgers and twins (I wish they could have kept Lariano healthy)

Well there go the Twins. I'll be pumped if the Tigers knock off the Yankees.

wow the 200 million dollar yankees are out in the first round! I guess 200 million doesn't buy what it used to.

That last curveball was attatched to my heart before it broke over the plate.....I SWEAR!!!!
Oh my god. I wore the carpet out in my living room pacing back and forth. Against Beltran made it all the sweeter!
Finally some response to this thread! Good to hear from you Brian! Go BIRDS!
Yeah, I have been a Cardinals fan since I was old enough to breathe. I can remember John Tudor putting his hand through the fan in 85 and sobbing in 87. We are severe underdogs going into this WS. Maybe it IS our year. I just wish Tony and Scott would make up, it makes me really sad.....as good of baseball as they're playing and the heart they are playing with I just want to see a big ass tear soaked hug, I have so much respect for both of those guys and I know they have the same respect for each other, it's just a shame to see hard feelings drag out in the middle of something so magical. But like I said the emotions running in my viens during Adam Wainwright's last pitch were enough to make it break a bit more than it usually would. ;)
Well you must have missed it because after the game when everyone was high fiving and such, Tony and Scott hugged. It was a double hug with something whispered from Scott's mouth to Tony's ear and an acknowledging pat on the back from Tony. It looked like a good moment between them. Winning can sure bring people back together, huh?!?!
Am I alone in rooting for the tigers here? Pittsburgh sports fan here rooting for the former Pirate manager Jimmy Leyland. Also was the last manager to have a winning record here.

I like Leyland as well, but now me and you are enemies true. Except you are a Steelers fan, and so am I, so on Sunday afternoon you are my friend but Saturday night, Sunday night, Tuesday night and Wednesday night you are my enemy! (Notice I only listed 4 days.)

No you are certainly not alone. I have been a life long Tiger fan, though I am not into them as much as when I was a kid. Its unbeleivable with them going from sucking ass to world series in one year. We need this one with the Lions still embarassing our state with Matt Millen's sorry excuse for football.
Yeah Leyland is the real deal, though I would have loved to see them get there with Trammell. Trammell, Whitaker, and Gibson were my heroes in my little league days.

I think the Tigers had too much time off before the WS.It may take them a game or 2 to get rolling but I think they will win it eventually.
American League rules. ;)
I can't respect a league that doesn't let the pitchers hit.
But since they don't hit, wouldn't it be really strange if one of them had pine tar on their hand?

I can't respect a league where they waste an at bat on a pitcher that can't hit.Not to mention the fact that you risk the health of your star pitcher by either getting hit by a pitch or trip running the bases. The pitcher has enough on his shoulders as it is,let him concentrate on winning the game. The "W" or "L" goes beside the pitchers name as well as the teams name in the box score.
American Leaugue is much more exciting to watch because of the designated hitter too,IMO.
I don't know what that was on Kenny Rogers hand last night but it didn't look like dirt,it looked like either Tobacco juice or pine tar.If he was using illegal substances to give him an edge then he should have been ejected. But remember, dirt is not an illegal substance. And Tony La Russa didn't seem to have a problem with it...which is strange, unless he is gonna use it in game 6(when Rogers starts again)to mess with him before the game.
Funny if it was pine tar, after he washed his hands he pitched very well,so it may not have been helping him at all.
Go Tigers! AL Central rules.
It's the age old argument and I won't try to sway you, but if you experienced the gamesmenship of pinch hitting and all of the additional "chess" moves you might understand.
I have decided I just don't want the Pine Tar incident to overshadow a good series. Especially one, that the REDBIRDS are going to win. ;)
I decided that Kenny Rogers is a jackass!!!! I can't wait to see some clever signs tonight in the S.T.L.
