I cannot believe it has taken me this long to get into My Morning Jacket. One of my friends (a smart one) decided it was a good time to play me their music. They are simply amazing. A breath of fresh air.

"with bourbon, it doesn't matter if the bottle is half full or half empty. when it's half empty, you're too drunk to care, and when it's half full, you'll still have half of a bottle to get drunk on."
Welcome home. :)
In that case, I'll take a Half-glass full.

I still have to listen to their other CD's, however, he just played them for me probably around 2 weeks ago. On first listen, I knew they were going to be a band that I will love. Suggest which album I should check out next, please!
:D
Also, you guys are really nice! I've been to other BB's where they aren't so welcoming. Take care and have a great day.
glad to make your interweb-accquaintence, kel. welcome to the board. nice to see another lady in the mix.
i recommend the entire mmj catalouge. but here's where i would start exploring all things jacket:
at dawn

....ok, i'm done gushing now. thank you for all of your suggestions AND your warm welcomes. i look forward to talking to you all.
It'll be a long-term relationship, trust me. 8-)

Rob Crow and co. need to learn that you need some space!
i think that we just can all share!
I think I speak for most people in saying, "oh how I envy you".
ah, young love. Welcome aboard, you have a lot to look forward to.
Care for any "kool-aid"... :-?
;)
These are my favorite threads.
You are about to embark on a wonderful journey. Just in time for spring!
Suggestion:
At Dawn March-April-May
Then on the first of June, go purchase It Still Moves and call it the Soundtrack of Your Life (Volume Summer '07)

Honestly, sometimes i get stuck in a musical rut and i decided that i don't want to do that anymore. there are so many wonderful bands out there and i can't wait to get my hands on them. i'm just kicking myself in the head now for not going to lollapalooza last year, i live by chicago!
springtime, ah, yes, that has been what has motivated me to keep opening up and welcome newer sounds into my life.
Welcome to the forum. I was at Taste Festival last year. My first MMJ show.
If you like Z, check out Okonokos. That album deserves to be played in your stereo on full blast until you either blow out your speakers or eardrums.
Just wait until you find god at one of their shows...
Welcome to the board :D I would go with Okonokos cause it would introduce you to songs from all the albums. The live versions of certain songs will give you a greater appreciation for them than studio versions. Make sure you view the Okonokos DVD too as soon as possible-mind blowing!

Hell ya. I'm new to the forum, but my first show was in 2004. I wasn't prepared for how much I would love them live. SEE THEM LIVE. Write that down. ;) Welcome!
