Title: Super Bowl XLII
Post by: ycartrob on Jan 31, 2008, 07:46 AM
who's everyone pulling for? I got to go with the Giants and Eli, the Ole Miss wonder boy.

So, bam_bam, it's Michigan vs Ole Miss in the Super Bowl (At least at QB). You got any Patriot love?

(and thanks for being a good sport with your SEC avatar. You wore it well!)

It has to be the Giants.  If Peyton can't win, then let the little brother do it!

And anyhow, no one I know can stand the Patriots. :-X

Rooting for Giants, of course. Steeler fans pretty much hate the Patriots.

I used to be a big Giants fan back in the Simms era even when he was the backup to Scott Bruner. Go Giants and screw the Yankees.

As a fellow Steelers fan, there is no way I am pulling for the Patriots. I'll root for the New York Football Giants. Although, seeing Plax not get a ring would have been sweet, if he wasn't going against the Pats.

I got some odd stuff going on in this game.

I don't hate the Pats. I really like the fact Moss went there and I love to watch Welker, so, an avatar bet wouldn't interest me b/c I don't have anything to lose really. I'm just pulling for the Giants b/c Eli went to Ole Miss (even though I really like watching Bradshaw and Jacobs run). Not a big Plax fan or Shockey. Plus, I'd love Tiki to have to eat his words about Eli and Coach C.

Might be just me, but I want to see perfection! :o  GO PATS!

Wes Welker hails from my fine state so there's another reason why I'll be rooting the Patriots.   Oh and so Mercury Morris will shut the hell up. :-?

Post by: The DARK on Jan 31, 2008, 09:25 PM
I'm rooting for the Giants, though I think they have basically no chance at winning.

It's basically a repeat of last year's Colts vs. Bears. Dominating AFC team vs. pretty good AFC team with shaky quarterback. I really want to think the Giants have a chance, but I doubt they can pull it off. Remember that NE has won 18 straight against the best in the league.

Can't wait to read the Bill Simmons article on espn.com tomorrow or Tuesday.  Anyone else read Simmons?  They also call him "the sports guy."  He used to write for Jimmy Kimmel. If you're a sports fan you should be reading.  Tomorrow will be classic.  He's a die-hard Boston fan and has been ripping on Eli for most of the season.

Congrats to the New York Football Giants! I haven't been that excited for any team other than my Steelers. I knew Coughlin made the right move by playing his starters in week 17. Look at teams who've rested players or just didn't play well late in the season-Colts several times throughout the years, Cowboys this year etc..... I never liked that philosophy. So sick of hearing Patriots being compared to other Super Bowl dynasties also. Steelers still number one!

Wow. Congrats to the Giants.
I've never liked the Mannings, but you can't deny that Peyton is one helluva player and a nice guy at that. I'm pretty sure my dislike for him stems from the fact that he played at Tennessee.
I've always though Eli sucked, especially the first 3/4 of this year... but man, did he step up or what?
I was pulling for them, even though I had no stake in this game other than the fact that I can't really stand the Pats. It's kinda hard to watch a game like that, but I did it anyway... and slowly, it looked plausible that the Giants would pull one out.
I damn near shit myself when they scored with 35 seconds left.

as far as peyton, he seems like a super guy, but the weirdest thing--my friend directed a commercial w/him and said he was the biggest prick/prima donna he'd ever worked with..insane. (who knows though-one guy's opinion)

eli lives a few blocks from me and he's a super nice guy. he and his gfriend go to brunch every week at the same place, very down to earth
