I was never a fan of Heston's role with the NRA, but he's one of my all-time favourite actors and he was in some of my all-time favourite films. Heston was also a trailblazer for US civil rights in the 50's and 60's and his films often dealt with important socio-political issues. Hell, Planet of the Apes is one of the best films ever and its messages regarding war, race, gender and urbanism (and there's more) are still timely. Michael Moore is also one fat lying bastard for ambushing Heston in Bowling for Columbine. R.I.P. Charleton Heston: you are one of the greats!

This was my favorite role of his.  Maybe the best cameo EVER.
