I just thought we might as well set up a thread solely dedicated to this. Have you started a group yet aMD, or do you want me to start it?

Hey Gregg, I'm having trouble with this. Can you give me specific directions on how to access this from the link you provided? Thanks,

Awesome (I like the new name too :o)
I know I'll get to see it Thursday, but what's everyone got as their Final Four?
Here's mine:
1.) UNC
2.) Texas
3.) Xavier
4.) Kansas
Thanks for starting it up, ggg. I was going to last night but there didn't seem to be a lot of people interested. Hopefully we can get a lot of people to sign up though. I don't like the way this bracket is working out though. Most of my favorite teams will have to play each other early on or didn't get it in. oh well, it'll still be fun to watch it all play out.
Duke
UNC
Georgetown
Memphis
I've got UNC beating Duke in the finals. :-[
I know, I know. But last year I would have won a couple hundread dollars if I had picked Florida over OSU like I should have, but this year I'm going with my head and not my heart.
For the sake of the Triad area, I hope your final four pick is wrong aMD ;D. If there EVER was a Duke/Carolina matchup in the tourney (much less a championship game) I'm pretty sure a city would burn.
But it would be fun...

I'll join later
I'm there (I love playing these bracket things! You remember last year I got called a pussy b/c I didn't want to participate? Not this year!)
Here's the Final 4:

UT-Arlington
Portland St
I have Mississippi Valley State over Portland St in the final (tie breaker total points is 3)
You'll still probably beat me. :-/

it might be mostly chalk.....but I don't see many upsets this year. Some early surprises maybe, like Drake, Butler, and Davidson playing well....

Love vs Hansborough would be pretty interesting.... I like that.
(but it ain't gonna happen 'cuz the Bruins are going down to MVSU in the first round!)

Hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about...my Spartans in the Final Four (again). I like this guy!
Honestly I filled out my bracket and have Miss. St. beating Memphis (almost picked them to lose in 1st round but #1's never lose first round)...once I did that I had to pick my Spartans to go deep. I figure if I'm wishing I might as well wish big!

The thing about the tourney that you always hear is that "you need great guard-play to win." But recently teams that go far usually have 2 quality athletic big men plus guys who can fill it from the outside. Clemson has both and has played in some very tight games and plays a pressing style that bothers people. They're my darkhorse obviously and vey well could get beat in the first round by Villanova. But they're fun to watch, play really hard, and that 8-minutes to go, 20 point comeback against my boys earns my support.
I think I'm going to change mine. I don't feel good about my bracket.
i'm a total chick when it comes to filling out a bracket. i don't follow NCAA hoops, so i go on the higher seed, or personal favorites. no research. no nothing.
OK, my wife LA is in. She went straight up higher seeds over lower seeds with all #1's in the finals and Memphis over Kansas. She likes Chris Douglas-Roberts b/c his last name is like ours...

Xavier is down by 11, early 2nd half...your boys better get with it, or your bracket is busted!
I had four sleeper teams going into the tourney. Two of them play each other in the first round (USC and Kansas St) and the other two will likely play each other in the second round (Purdue and Xavier). I hate it when that happens!
Looks like Xavier got their act together in the 2nd half. That's another match ups of teams that could go far if they didn't have to play each other. GO MUSKETEERS!!!
Your Spartans looked good out there tower...
And I'm really glad Xavier pulled that game out. Please...PLEASE make it to the Final Four :-/

For real! And how bout that ALMOST Dook upset?
I like the way you're thinking, mysterious 1st time poster.
Quote

tell me about it. I haven't seen dook look that average in a while. however, much credit to scrappy Belmont and their back doors and key 3's plus I think coack k got out coached for a lot of the game. I think a lot of people outside of Nashville lost bank on that game.
and let's hear it for kentucky, who had 4 players score their entire game. good grief,
Despite my earlier-in-the-year comments, I actually have Dook going to the Elite 8. I just thought that their draw was very easy. That was close. The scary thing for Dook is that Belmont plays just like them and had no real interior game that could exploit Dook's biggest flaw.
F-in DUKE!!! great game---belmont choked. hard foul--don't let that guy drive down the lane. that would have been so sweet.

CBS makes it so easy to not get any work done. I just watched San Diego take out UConn on my computer ;D
Heels are lookin' GREAT!! I know it was against a 16 seed and all, but I think we just sent a message to the other #1 seeds by putting up 113 points (that includes points by our 3rd string after being put in with 4:12 seconds left).
My brackets sure took a beating tonight though :-/
Looks who's in first, peeps! 8-)
8-)
I don't wanna talk too much shit yet but back to back wins would be sweet!
It's hard to tell who everybody is, I don't know anyone's real name.
Not bad aMD, not bad at all.
My brackets are screwed up pretty bad, so I'm trying to ease the pain by finding tickets to the raleigh game tomorrow.
Hopefully I'll be posting some awesome pictures on monday...but damn, the tix are hard to find :-/
THIS is the best time of the year, not the bowl season or the super bowl or the world series.,etc.. My mom (she's 76) is in town and we have been watching the tourney as far back as I can remember (our first was watching Indiana beat Michigan for their undefeated season in 76. I was actually pulling for Michigan b/c I liked Ricky Green)
and we spent 5 1/2 hours in front of the TV last night and we're about to do another 8 or so today (and tomorrow).

(the 200 guys in the top level): pigsooie? anyone?
I really do hope we win tomorrow, obviously, but I've never EVER been to an NCAA tournament game which I'm REALLY looking forward to. Especially since two schools from North Carolina will be playing while I'm there.
And, hey, it'll be fun to see Georgetown in person...Roy Hibbert and all.
third place so far not so bad.
listening to the CBS announcers talk about how unbeatable dook is, and how they would come back, and how they were going to "ice the game" 1 minute into the 2nd half, made that loss to West Virginia all the better.
Blue collar beats blue blood! ;D
My son! Lift them up and carry them on your shoulders!

Damn! With two of my final four teams out already my bracket is all but fucked. >:(
good Lord I've watched a lot of basketball the last 4 days. I was just changing out my dog's water bowl and she didn't see me coming and she stepped in front of me and I instantly thought she was trying to draw the charge....

Fuck Duke. I hope North Carolina loses. I hope to the god that doesn't exist that the Raptors don't draft Hansbrough. He'll be an NBA role-player and not a star, so screw anyone who thinks he's a lottery pick.
Screw UCLA too.
Go Davidson. That kid of Del Curry's will be a star in the NBA. I'm liking that West Virgina team alot too.
Hell yes, I would LOVE to see Washington State beat Carolina...hell, I'd love to see all the PAC 10 teams get into the Final Four. As a conference they've done pretty well, with 3 teams in the Sweet Sixteen (I think the Big East also has 3 in still). Tough games coming up though, except for UCLA (hopefully they'll just roll over W KY).
I thought my bracket was ruined...I mean, it was. It is. But somehow it's not ruined enough and I'm up near the top :o I think the two number twos going down early fucked a lot of people (me included). Those 13s rolling through too...gotta love this tournament.
Hey Gregg, how was the game?
Let me answer that question for Gregg: Uh, great! My team played their best game of the season at my first NCAA tourney game and I got to see this year's Cinderella take down mighty Georgetown as a bonus.
I guess the ACC does suck this year after all.

Yes, yes and yes.
The games were awesome!!! It was amazing watching the Davidson game. The crowd was insanely loud (especially in the last 3 minutes), and of course the Carolina game was awesome...and BoS was right about getting to see them play at 115%.
Here's some pictures:

It was a magical few hours though. If you ever have a chance to go to ANY NCAA tournament games, I would strongly recommend it. Best sporting atmosphere I've ever been a part of, hands down.
A couple more:

My father and I would go to the ACC tourney every year and then follow Maryland as far as they would go every year in the NCAA tourney. We went to the Spectrum in Philly to see Patrick Ewing and Georgetown ruin my only chance to actually go to the final four. You're right about the atmosphere - it's just very intense with the fans of different teams in little sections. Before the ACC expanded, the first day of the ACC tourney was 4 games - 2 early, 2 late, and a big BBQ in the middle. We were there for every second of every game.
Nothing's better for a 10 or so year-old than ditching school to watch unending hours of live basketball featuring Buck Williams, Albert King, Jordan, Worthy, Ralph Sampson, all the stupid Dook players, etc... Just the best.

Just got back from Vegas, had a blast watching games and betting....damn Louisville and Oklahoma couldn't score one damn point in the final 1:30???? I had $50 on the over which was 126.5...they scored a combined 126. Fucking Farley missed like 7 free throws, one was wide right! I still came out ahead on the weekend, and yes I did win money on my Spartans! Considering betting on them against Memphis, I like our chances.

Me, fricken' too! We've been so up and down all year that it makes me a bit nervous but for some reason getting out of the Big Ten seems to be helpful. The extent to which our sets, etc. are scouted seems to go down and we're more successful running stuff.
We have to shoot well and not turn the ball over (duh), which has been an achilles heel for us at times.
It'll be interesting to see the tactic Izzo takes. We are actually a good running team but that plays into Memphis' hands. I think he'll try to run but back it out and make them play D if we don't have a layup...we'll have to work at it but I think we can keep them from running on us.
Should be a fun game to watch!
Go Badgers and Spartans---!
Too bad WKU couldn't pull it out last night. Cards looked tough though.
Although I'm in fourth I think it's impossible for me to win based on the pics people in front of me have. Oh well, after winning it last year I'll take a top five finish.
Oh, and someone owes me sweetpickles!
Look out!!! Could trouble in Madison.
I guess Memphis is pretty good after all :-/
And how about Davidson?! Elite eight...way to go fellas.
QuoteI guess Memphis is pretty good after all :-/

Jesus...friggin' perfect storm. I knew we were in trouble when Memphis was 4/5 from the free throw line. They played maybe their best ball of the season in the first half and we of course, did not.
I was pretty happy with how we played in the second half, freshmen stepped up and we actually got it to 14. I almost went to bed at half (couldn't have slept for being pissed) but I figured it was Memphis and if anyone were to fold, they might.
Looking forward to the future fo' sho.

Yup, the Kansas/UNC matchup that I'd been drooling over the entire season is one game away from happening. I'm so stoked that we're in the Final Four though. Everyone on that team deserves to be there (especially Tyler) and I'm real glad to see that they made it to the big stage. Just two more games...I'd love to see another banner for next year:)
Hey, my wife was the only one to pick all Final 4 teams (I taught her everything she knows...)
Hopefully the BCS will be watching the Final 4 on Saturday and taking note. The 4 best teams in the nation playing in the semifinals, determined by a playoff format, and whoever is playing next Monday night for the championship will hear no belly-aching from anyone else b/c it was all SETTLED ON THE COURT.
Good luck gentlemen (and Go Memphis!)

Seriously Tracy, I'm with you on the BCS, it's a shame that the greatest regular season sport in the world has such a complete crap championship system. It's really a train wreak, it truly makes me sick.........Calamari just goes to show that you could fry anything with a bunch of grease and it would make a good appetizer.

Ok, this is a good point. I didn't know that, the selection committee should be really embarrassed. :)

Too bad flordia didn't win so we could get our revenge in the nit finals. just shows you what I said was right, OSU should have been in. Oh yeah, and Ole Miss sucks.

yep, we really didn't show up. I have to say beating Virginia Tech in Blacksburg last week was the best game we played all season and I think we left it all there.
Congratulations to all the Ohio State students and alumni, they beat us pretty soundly (but we almost made the come back).

well, you know how jumping on and off bandwagons goes. Speaking of which, where's your Ole Miss avatar? It should now read: lost to THE Ohio State Buckeyes in the NIT.
I'm pretty much doomed in the bracket challenge, but I would like to give a shout out to Tracy for going out on a limb and picking every upset that was possible.
Maybe it'll work next year.
i don't think we should be so hard on ole miss, they had a good showing in the NIT.
the Ohio State won the NIT this year but their year in the tournament is more likely next year than this year, lookout for Koufos. If he's going to be be what he was in high school look out.
