man....i go to work and I miss loads of shit!!

I think I know what Dylan (aMD) is feeling. I once quit the board because I didn't feel all that welcome....but came back once I realzed I'm a.) addicted to it, b.) addcited to all things Jacket, and c.) my frustration stemmed from some other incident where everyone on the board was frustrated and i probably just caught a shit storm of sarcasm that i took the wrong way. Hell, I don't even remember what it was now.

All i know is that 99.9% of the time, this is my absolute favorite place on the ol' interweb (after every single porn site, of course).

I like Conaway, although i didn't always agree with him.

I like Dylan (aMD), although i don't always agree with him (except for in all things Cincinnati sports--there we are brothers.....forever)

you know what????

this just ruined my day.....why can't we all be happy here??!?!?

The more I think about it, I think he'll come back again.

The argument was between him, Riny, and John Conway. John Conway doesn't even post here anymore, and Riny was just trying to end a bitchfight. He may have just been having a bad day or something.

I, for one, hope he does.  It's just not the same without him.

No matter what you think of him personally, one of our most valuable members left yesterday because he felt ganged up on.

*The Tabs

*Jacketfest

*Your Evening Windbreaker Band

Just to name a few. I actually know Dylan Greenwood in real life outside of these boards and know he is an all around great guy. He will be missed.......

aMD spent literal years talking me into joining this online community.  I have never enjoyed message boards because of the fact that most that I had ever seen were full of fights and people trying to out do each other.  I finally relented a few months ago and have been glad I did, but honestly since this leak appeared I've been watching this board go through an odd transition, hopefully I think that's getting under control again.

I can't comment on whatever this beef is cuz I don't know anything about it and I certainly don't understand it- being this is a freaking message board and all- but I do know that Dylan loves this band and has put in a lot of extra time for this board.  He did it all because he really loves My Morning Jacket.  Far as I'm concerned that's why we're all here.

I hope this storm can pass over soon.  Everyone may not kiss and make up but I hope everyone does not saddle themselves with the baggage of hanging on to this either.  Life is too short.

i agree with everything that was said about AMD (all the nice/pleasant ones) AMD was liked here by most people. i'm hoping that he reads the posts that show it.  not to get too sensitive, but he was one of my favorites here, and i do consider him a friend. i hope that he does comeback, because most people didn't want him to leave in the first place. so AMD if you're reading, comeback brother!!

He quit the board once before and came back.  I'm sure it will happen again.  It seems he quit before right when Z was coming out..

He did great for the tabs, but the world will continue to spin..

I don't know Dylan in Real Life, but I was a newbie not too long ago and I can tell you he was one of the first to make me feel welcome.  I felt I was attacked by several senior members and he was very supportive of me and kept me from leaving the boards.

I don't get why senior members feel the need to "comment" on newbies posts in a negative way.  At one time we have all been "newbies".

People are free to have different opinions on many subjects, it's what makes the world go 'round.  It would be pretty boring if we all agreed on everything.

Dylan, come back, we miss you!  I was really looking forward to my 1st Jacketfest!!! [smiley=undecided.gif]

Dylan didn't come up with the concept of Jacketfest. He didn't pick last year's location. He didn't reserve all of our campsites. If anything, it's his fault it rained on us most of the time.

All that said, we still look forward to meeting you there!

Okay, here it goes.

You know, this is the internet.  People meet like in real life, and some people just don't like other people.  That's life.   The world is a macrocosm of the school lunch table to some degree.   We all have mostly anonymous screen names, living in seclusion from human contact during these conversations.

It is when someone you've never met before starts creepily obsessing over things, calling your spouse terrible names on a public forum, and then deciding to threaten with violence your person do you start to wonder.  I am a big enough dude and am not personally worried this guy coming to kick my ass, but I have a young daughter and an easily spooked spouse and do not wish to have some sort of high school throw down ala MMJ style.  I don't recall what I've said or done that would instill such things in another human being, let alone some creepy internet message board poster whom I've never met in person.  Surely you good people can understand that.  I quit because I just couldn't deal with that anymore.  I didn't want to be angry, but I was.

I also understand that as a public forum, anything goes to a certain degree.  However, as I stated above, there were events in the past that "crossed some boundries" so to speak and despite repeated efforts to make right, this guy pops off comments about me-serendipitiously as I stop in for the very first time in literally months-and I said my peace.

I apologize to anyone who found those comments inflammatory or out of line, but as I stated above, this had gone too far months and months ago, let alone just a basic "John Conaway sucks" commentary that comes out of nowhere and is based in this creepy assed dude's obsession.  It's just fucking crazy, and I'm sorry, I won't tolerate it.

People who know me in cyber and real life know I'm basically a pissed off optimist-I want to see the glass half full.  I give everyone the benefit of the doubt.  My utopia is an endless bounty for all.  I can be pretty acidic when I want to be.  There's many, many things that have been feeding my personal angst (death, loss, etc .) that I won't bore you with, but suffice to say the past few years have been the most challenging I've ever experienced.  On all levels, too-spiritual, financial, emotional-hell, I was 24 hours from losing my house to foreclosure just three years ago today-but I made it out.  And I possibly drank and smoked too much during those years, and possibly got bitchy on the internet about stupid shit.  But, I didn't threaten anyone with violence, and I didn't obsess over bullshit that happened years ago over comments made on the internet.  I just didn't, sorry.

In closing, I'm just sorry it came to this.  I surely did not want to be painted into a corner, and I'm sure it will be better in the future.

Peace,
John Conaway

P.S.  Corndogs, Thin Lizzy, and rototillers all around!  Woot!

to be fair I read this as sarcasm.  I'm pretty sure Ewok was proving just what Dylan did do for last years Jacketfest.  At least that was my take..

I'm glad not everyone thinks I blame Dylan for it raining.

*sigh*

Even if I did blame him for the bad weather (oooh, maybe I do!), how does that make me a tough guy? Moron? Absolutely. Tough guy? I don't see it.

Do you guys remember what happened to those peeps after Dylan summoned the storm? My heart feels the way those peeps looked - very tired and deflated.

Dylan will be back, so why the added drama (this thread) on top of drama (Dylan calling out John) on top of drama (the newbies) on top of drama (the leak)?

i was on the verve's board for 10 years w/the same members--it used to get pretty heavy--but i finally left because it got ridiculous and even one of the band members got involved..(well that and also they haven't made an album in 10 years either LOL) ....this board is great--people are nice, funny, quirky--good times!

yeah...i was sad to see Dylan go.  we have never met in person but met on this board and e-mailed back and forth and traded shows and rare MMJ cuts.  i remember when i first joined i made a post about the beginnings of the band that were inaccurate (b/c they came from a bad source secondhand!)...i was so excited about the band and letting out this info.  i was totally shit on by then senior members and Dylan actually sent me a PM and said don't worry about it and we became fast "interweb friends."

hope you come back man...the board is less without you!

Amelia is 3 now, and a peach.  Very smart and talkative, bright and impressively brassy all at the same time.  Can write a few letters and can read a few words, loves books and music, but most impressively, SHE CAN USE A COMPUTER better than some adults I know.  Totally wild watching a frickin' 3 year old surf the 'net (with daddy watching, of course)...

Favorite song right now:

Up the Stairs - R.E.M.

Favorite Food:

tossup between pancakes and spaghetti

still has those baby blues too...

I'm an only child and I don't have any family, so I always find ya'lls stories about your babies really interesting. To a guy like me, babies and small children are... well... alien. They're weird. Very weird.

That said, I think I would make an awesome dad. I've had plenty of examples of what a dad shouldn't be like, so I'm optimistic.

"Stink" is a hilarious word, though, isn't it, John? Babies are weird about what tickles them...

I am personally gonna miss that dude,  he could be abrasive at times, but so can I,  It's ok to agree to disagree.   I have read some of the posts about the history of what went down and I don't agree with threatening someone with  physical harm.  I do believe people can coexist in here without invoking someone elses name.

Good to see ya back John Conaway, I must say you were one of the nicest to me when I was new.   I think Tracy was the nicest though   ;).

I have only had good experiences while on this message board.
