QuoteI would argue for Hemispheres...maybe I'm just an inexperienced squirt, though?
well....Tom...
Back in the 4th century, I used to be a RUSH novice myself and I made the mistake of recommending Hemispheres to someone for their first RUSH listen, and, well, it almost cost them their life.
Seriously.
I thought I was acting out of love and good intention. My thought was simple, "Hey, I'll introduce RUSH to this guy via Hemispheres". What I failed to realize is that there are steps you must take someone through before exposing them to Hemispheres or Farewell to Kings or Caress of Steel. Moving Pictures is just one of those steps: some of it is familiar (Tom Sawyer, Limelight) and it's not as deep and complicated, then there's others (Camera Eye, YYZ, Vital Signs) that give glimpses of places they will venture soon. It's a process. You can't just lay that level of music onto someone and expect them to grasp it, or, in the worst case scenario, which I experienced, have them function fully again as a human being. My friend, whom I referenced earlier, is 99% back to his original self after having his mind blown. This was a slow process and involved a helping heaping of basic pop and rock that aided in the re-realization of his senses.
I'm just sayin', be careful out there as you move, closer to the heart.
i think i'm.......going bald.
ahhhh i gotcha. i suppose everybody got mixed feelings, but that evolutionary process of listening makes sense...the more things change, the more they stay the same, y'know? familiarity is key, but then everybody got to deviate from the norm...
