if there's only eight teams, we should add a couple more positions then.

Post by: .Walt on Aug 20, 2007, 11:46 PM
i really don't like vick, and really don't think he's that good of a qb, but i really wanted him in fantasy. i had him last year, and enjoyed his style of play. although last year in my money league i had the worst draft in the history of Fantasy Football.

so, assuming LT goes one. stephen jackson goes number two? that who i'm taking at two.

Bigfoot in the house!

I was always a fan of Vick as a QB, but I just recently seen a picture of one of the dogs he had fighting, or whatever, and it was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life.  That man deserves more than he'll ever get.

Then again, maybe he won't won't to sign up. Still, let me know.  :)

i like TO, i will take him (if he's around) first pick of the third round!! if i have the first pick of the 3rd round.. that is.

also people, if you are like true and red, and you can't make it to draft, you can still be in the league. sure you may not get the people you like, but it will draft the best available player for you. it WONT draft 15 QB's even if they are the best available players. also you can be like AMD, and pre rank your players, so it will draft the players you want, if they are still there!! one more to go...lets fill it!!

Does anyone have a problem with pushing the draft back 30 minutes?  I get off work at  5, just don't want to pre draft my players and not get who I want.  If it's too much for everyone I think I will only miss the first round.  Thanks, let me know.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: corey on Aug 22, 2007, 07:14 PM
I think I can go back 30 minutes. I have somewhere to be around 7 or 8 (I think), so the longer we push it back, the less time I have. But I think 30 minutes should be OK.

I've got him in my other league and for the sake of convenience and the fact that my other team is looking pretty strong, I'm thinking about replicating it as much as possible.  So, Sean is looking like a hot commodity.

That being said I will not pass up LaDainian or S. Jackson.   :P

We got 10. My brother is in as Bama37.

I'm looking at the team positions on Yahoo. It says that we should have 2 starting WR, then this W/R. Does that mean we get an optional 3rd receiver? I'm confused. Also, how many defensive players do we get? And what is BN? (It's early and I may be a little stupid.)
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: bowl of soup on Aug 23, 2007, 10:48 AM
I can't be live at the draft (I hate this), but I have ranked my players.  Is there anything else I need to do to have my players taken automatically?
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: Jon T. on Aug 23, 2007, 11:09 AM
Corey:  W/R means you get your choice of an additional wideout or a Running back and i believe you get 2 defenses.  These are entire defensive units though not individual players.  Meaning you would take the Bears and get the whole teams defensive stats.

Bowl, I think that is all you do.  I'm probably going to do the same thing.  The league I play in is completely different than yahoo and I've only done this yahoo thing once but I'm pretty sure that is how we did it.  I hope I'm right.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: Jon T. on Aug 23, 2007, 11:10 AM
Oh and BN means bench.  You'll draft more players than you'll actually start each week and you decide who plays and who rides the pine.

Thanks - I looked into it and it looks like your right - if you're not there it just picks from your list and fills in your positions.  My pathetic reason for non-attendence is that the draft in my other money league was changed.  I may be a loser, but I refuse to do 2 fantasy drafts at once.  I've been playing in the other one for years and it's a keeper league and there is a decent amount of $ on the line - so it won out, allthough I prefer the people in here.

We haven't really discussed a prize for our a peaceful little MMJ league.  My earlier suggestion was that all of the losers chip in for a couple of nice tickets to the winner's show of choice for the upcoming tour (assuming one will happen soon).  Honor system of course.

From what I read on the site there, it said that I button will appear about an hour (i think) before the draft that says Enter Live Draft.  So I guess you'll log on to your account. It also recommended that you enter the draft 10 mintues go time.

What determines the order of the draft?
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)

I've never done this before so i may have more questions to come. A couple years ago i won the football poll at work (i actually tied for first, tie breaker points and all, i would've gotten a bit more cash), i like picking winners in games but i'm not sure about this fantasy thing.

My brother and I are new to this as well. (See my questions above)

There was a thing the other day that said that draft order will be picked randomly either 30 minutes or an hour before the draft. I can't remember which.

if you're going to be at the draft, you really don't have to pre-rank your players. while drafting, they have all the players ranked for you, and also ranked by position. so its pretty handy.

the best part of not having a favorite team, is i can love all of the teams.

teams i dig: Bangles, Pats (Man crush on Randy Moss), Chargers, Chiefs, and Cardinals, Eagles.
teams i hate to see win: Bears, Bucs, Jets, Giants, Colts, and Dolphins

super bowl teams (not final) Eagles vs Pats ---winner--- Pats 31-27

Thanks, but the cave that we hold the draft in has no internet, so I'll just have to hope that my rankings do me right.  9 losers + 1 winner + $20 per loser = $180 = some very nice tix for the winner and a guest.  Just a thought.  Someone with a artistic bent should also devise some sort of very lame trophey for the winner.  Said trophey should make all involved question the artist's sexuality.

that was fun.  i think i like my team.

True, looks like we're going head to head week 2.  that should be fun.   ;D

I ended up drafting every bengal available other than Chad Johnson (somebody snagged him early) and their defense (because i'm not a complete moron).

Looking at everybody's list at a glance I've got to say that Tripps' team is pretty impressive.  it was cool to see everyone's strategy.  i can't wait to see how it shakes out.

Yeah, and I gotta go against him the first week.  :-/

I really wanted LT or LJ, but I was 8th pick and I knew there was no way that they'd still   be around. I feel like I got pretty lucky with Addai on the 8th pick.
I was on the phone with Chris the whole time we were drafting. It was interesting to watch it all play out and see how quickly everyone was picking for the first few rounds.

If nothing else, we'll be a good match-up. I feel good about my team, but I don't have high hopes since this is my first time to play. You've got some strong RBs, so that will probably get you some points.

YOung, those are my good players.  We do an auction draft.  Each team has $100 bucks and you have to bid on the players.  You have to manage your money so that you have at least $1 per player and you draft 15 players.  So if you blow your wad on LT then you have to make sure you have enough money to buy the rest of the team otherwise your highest priced player is out for 6 weeks.  It makes for a more involved draft.  Plus we have guys from all over Florida and it gives us a chance to get together and kick it.  We did it in Jacksonville two weeks ago.

Sounds like my other league.  We do $200 auction style with keepers that you pay a 10% increase in salary to keep.  I could've kept LT - but it would have cost me $110 with 8 other positions to draft.  Couldn't do it.  Can't believe that Ronald Curry was not picked, so I picked him up.

No shit. I'm gettin' antsy over here.

I think I'm gonna be going to the Titans/Colts game. I should find out tomorrow. I'm gonna be pulling for the Titans, but I want Addai to have a good game because he's my starter.  :)

It's gonna be hard watching football like that this season.

Kitna all the way.  I know I sound crazy but I think he is going to have a monster season.  Their running game is in shambles, their defense is non-existent so they're going to have score a lot of points to stay in the games, their receiver corps are top five (seriously), and he has a year under him playing for M. Martz.  Plus I think he's just dreamy.

Not really the last part but I do like him...

My team The Tennessee Fire, got a couple friends of mine, into the jacket. i lost my ass to them. which is better: getting the jacket fans? or losing my ass to the same people two years in a-row? i'd kill to make the playoffs, haven't in three years.

wish me good luck!! or i guess thats what the fat tire is for!!

This'll be fun.

A little of subject here but I was talking shit about my buddy's team in my other league cuz that's what I do.  And he called me out on it and challenged me that whoever has the worst record between the two of us has to pay the other guy's entry fee for life.  That's  $157 a team right now and we go higher each year (inflation's a bitch).  He threw down the gauntlet on me.  I had to take it because of all the shit talking I was doing.  So, I have learned a lesson on talking too much shit.  That being said I am looking forward to winning two different leagues this year.

I am in a keeper league and have been for the about 16 years now, I would like to know who YOU guys would keep from  my roster from last year. I can keep 2 players from any position and the same position.
I have already turned in my keepers to the commish, I guess I just need some positive  reinforcement on my decision.   I won total pts. and the super bowl last year.

QB PEYTON MANNING
R.B. EDGERRIN JAMES
R.B. MAURICE JONES DREW
R.B. CEDRIC BENSON
W.R. REGGIE WAYNE
W.R. DONALD DRIVER
T.E. TONY GONZALEZ

This is my favorite time of year.
I love sunday mornings, Scooby snacks,  stat trackers and smack talk.

It was a tough call but I kept MJD & Manning,  I drafted Edge to my team in his rookie  season and have kept him every year, last year was a huge letdown.  I might have to put his jersey in the back of my closet next to my Rashaan Salaam and Curtis Enis jersey ( both christmas gifts ).  I'm not taking credit for spending my money for those two  slack asses.   I tried to give them to a homeless guy and he said no way ( just kiddin ).

alright, i had my money league draft tonight. first, i love live draft parties, BUT jesus fucking christ, does it take forever. it took around 4 hours when it was all said and done.  everyone was pretty wasted, only a few weren't (including me).

but now my team (the week 1 starters)...
QB - Carson Palmer (Man-crush)
WR -Joey Galloway (over 1,000 the last two years, now has a better Qb can't hurt)
WR - Plaxico Burress (hoping for 1,100 9 TD
RB - Larry Johnson (4th pick overall, solid)
RB - Cedric Benson (hoping for Thomas Jones like numbers)
/ - Cadillac Williams (better Qb, upgraded line, and can't be as bad as last year)
TE - Tony Gonzalez (you know what you're going to get with Gonzo)
K - Jeff Wilkins (love indoor kickers)
DEF - Philly D

Trying to work out a deal to get my boy Randy Moss. I have Vince Young and Matt Hasselback (trade bait). So hopefully i can trade one of them and get a solid number one receiver. a lot of hoping going on.

Darby got signed to practice squad this week, so I had to drop him. Also, I needed to add another kicker in case Graham doesn't get to start this week, so it was the smart thing to do.

As far as Chris dropping Croyle, he said that he may pick him back up if Huard shits himself outta the starting job in the first few games.  :)

If we make substitutions, can we do them in the middle of the weekend, or do we have to wait until there are no games?

Example, if someone's RB gets injured in the first quarter, can they run in and change their line-up in the middle of a game?

i'm pretty sure you can switch your players up until 30mins to kickoff. of that players game. it could be 5mins, but i think its 30mins.

example: if you have one player on the sunday night game, you can switch him for a player playing the monday night game. just as long as its 30mins before kickoff. hope that makes sense.

I need the Giants to pick me up here with Jacobs and Shockey...hopefully LT has a good second half as well.

FUCK!
I learned my lesson about not watching who is playing who from week to week. I have Rivers as my starting QB. The Chargers had the fucking BEARS this week, while my back-up QB (Roethlisberger) was against the Browns. Why the fuck didn't I look at that sort of thing? That's a no-brainer.

Also, Terry Glenn is possibly out for the season, but other sources are saying that he's not. He's not one of my starters, but he's on the bench.

One more thing... my first string TE (Gonzalez) didn't have that great a game... and I'm sittin' here watching Witten (who is on my bench this week) run all over the Giants.

Oh, and there's that whole thing about how Gonzalez may not have played this year, but they didn't release that info until late yesterday. (That really sucks for him, btw)

TEs are tricky.  Take Eric Johnson on the Saints, for example.  He had 8 or 9 catches for 56 yards or something like that against the Colts, which is a good game.  But in fantasy, that's only five points, whereas a guy like Shockey or Gonzales, who get TD catches can rack up the points.  So unless your TE is catching TDs, he's probably worthless, or worth only pocket change every game.

I'll take that (and the soup's not done cookin' just yet), especially with getting nothing from MJD and a less than stellar outing from Westbrook.  Just got hammered in my money league - we play 2 games a week and I lost them both.  Nothing like your #2 RB taking it on the knee in the 2nd quarter to open the season.  I also feel the pain for my fellow Lee Evans, Roy Williams, and Drew Brees owners - blah.

How many drop/adds can we do?

I may have to kick Terry Glenn to the curb if he's not going to be playing for the next month.

EDIT: Kicked Glenn to the curb and picked up Muhsin Muhammad. Maybe that'll work out for me. I also made a couple of adjustments to my line-up for this coming week's games.

I had a bad, bad week all around.

LT was off his game.

Jacobs gets hurt, Eli scores more points than his brother, but now he's down for a while.

B'more defense is off, Lee Evans shits the bed, Stallworth was in Moss' shadow.

Hopefully this was just a one week disaster and I can come back.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)

There is usually a waiver wire in place.  If you look on the league homepage is shows waiver positions.  It's set up so you can't add or drop players during the games and usually a day or two after.  You can try and make a move but it won't accept it until after the waiting period.  Then it processes all the transactions based on waiver position.  So number one would get his request first then number two and so on.  I know a lot of sites have problems during the first week so I was just wondering if the transactions are going to be reversed or if the waivers aren't turned on.  No big deal I'm just curious for the future.

I got RB Ward of the Giants a couple hours after that sunday night game. I feel good about that addition.

I'm thinking about trading one of my QB's (Brees, Romo) for possibly a running back. Anyone interested?

I'd take Brees off your hands for one of my backs with the exception of Westbrook.  I've got 4 other # 1's - Jones-Drew, Lamont Jordan, Edge, Tatum Bell.

yeah, yeah. got game, k!

I'm thinking about buying the stat tracker.  it was pretty cool.

A couple of questions, I'm guessing the four teams with the best record get into the playoffs and total points is used as a tie-breaker, right?  Second, on the league ranking page we all have a waiver number, i'm #7, what is that all about?

How many drop/adds can we do?

true, you know i have a bunch of rb's. cedric benson, larry johnson, laurence maroney, clinton portis/ladell betts and brandon jackson. just so happens i would love to take brees off you hands.

since k won't trade me my favorite player on my favorite team.

I already proposed a trade with bowl of soup for edge. Arizona looks commited to the running game this year with Wisenhunt.

Seems fair to me.

Brees is low now with a bad first week, but they should be equal value over the course of the season.

Anyone who disagrees can voice their opinion.

i so badly wanna veto the trade. only because i'm selfish and wanna piece of the action.

but i didn't veto it, it does seem fair. although i think whoever gets brees is going to be happier in the long run. although true does have a qb to spare. so he's really only gaining.

questions answered: you can pick up players at anytime. also there isn't a max on pick ups, so its unlimited.

also, AMD statTracker is the shit isn't!?!. i had it last year only because i had 4 teams, so it was worth it. (bought for baseball) still not  sure about this year yet.  or you could just keep us updated, that would be cool.

this IS rivalry week, good luck to all. even you Bowl of Soup. who's going to stay undefeated?

Very even match-up if you ask me.  I have a couple of your key players on another team (TO and LJ) so I'm conflicted.  Trade makes sense to me - he needs RB's and I have depth there; I'm shaky at QB and he has an extra.  I predict big bowls of gumbo.

It is crack and, as I said before, it will ruin your life in a happy sort-of way.  I have 4 teams - this one, another yahoo team I play in with some local friends, a large money keeper league where we all take it way too seriously and get in fights that would make 10 year-old girls blush, and a national challange that I've played in with a friend since 1993.

All told over the years I'm probably even as far as the money goes.  One year I cleared about $1k as my friend and I finished high in the national challange and nearly won a national playoff challange.  I honestly can say that it has changed the way I watch and enjoy football.  I'm ostensivly a Steelers fan, but my fantasy dudes take priority and my pulse barely moved when we won the Super Bowl 2 years ago.

Best fantasy team name ever - "With Another Man's Testicles".  Think about it.

"With another man's testicles" is fucking genius.

I really hope it stays fun for me. I'd rather not be fighting people about it. Maybe I should stay away from the money leagues.

Going to the Titans/Colts game this weekend should be fun and interesting. I'm gonna be pulling for the Titans, but Addai is my starting RB. Also, my brother picked up Chris Brown this weekend, so that'll be fun for him.

Anyone else read Tuesday Morning Quarterback on ESPN.com's page 2?  I hate ESPN.com (and why did they ruin NFL.com while I'm at it), but Greg Eaterbrook's weekly essay on football, science fiction, and cheerleaders is the best example of the written word anywhere about anything.  You'll have to devote about 2 hours a week to it though.

Part of my outcome for tonight rides on Drew Brees getting the ball to Colston quite a bit, but that will benefit Bowl of Soup as well since he has Brees.  :(
Maybe Bush will have a good game and I can rack up some points that way.

I just read that Deuce is out for the season. Bad news for the Saints (like they need any more bad news), but good news for my team. Maybe Bush will get more carries. I'm pretty sure those 2 TDs that he got for me would have gone to Deuce if he was in the game last night.

Also, with Romo throwing the ball like he has been*, there's no wonder why Jones hasn't touched the ball that much.
*Also good news for me since I have Witten at TE.  :)

Nice win.  Fantasy football is my eternal curse - 2 weeks in a row with very similar outcomes.  2nd in points but 1 and 2 - this happens to me every year.  Can someone tell me what happened to Drew Brees?  Maybe it's time to have that shit removed from your face Drew.  Did I just go 3rd-grade insult? Yes I did and it felt good.

Good news for me:
Sep 27 As he's prone to do from time to time, Smith chose not to speak to reporters after practice on Thursday, and told one reporter he's done talking for the year, the Gaston Gazette reports.

Recommendation: Smith is a high-energy player who plays angry much of the time, and he's apparently pretty ticked off about something right now. He seems to play better with a chip on his shoulder, which would be bad news for the Buccaneers this weekend.

I'm really hoping Rivers pulls through for me this week. I put him back in over Roethlisberger, and I'm starting to think that may have been a bad idea. Also, maybe he'll get the ball to Vincent Jackson some. Doesn't look like that happened much in the first half.

And... I was hoping to have a better game from Steve Smith, but that hasn't happened yet either. Maybe my players can pick it up in the 2nd half. I've had a pretty good game out of Addai up until halftime.

McNabb is either too old, injured, or both.  A young healthy McNabb would not get sacked twelve times with Notre Dame's O-line.  sorry, not taking that bait.  unless you want Cadillac Williams.

Post by: aMD on Oct 07, 2007, 09:09 AM
seldin, selvon, who cares.  i picked him up a couple weeks ago because I had no one else to pick up so I thought if henry gets hurt his back up will do awesome because any RB can rush for 1000+ yards in Denver.  looks like he might pay off.  i don't think players should be suspended for weed but i wish they'd go ahead and pull henry.

good luck to everyone, I didn't think I'd have a chance during the bengals' by week, but i don't feel too bad about my chances.

btw, do you all have a site/sites you go to to get information on gametime decisions as far as injuries or for stats and stuff? so far I've just kinda been guessing about who's going to start or not.

Yeah, the Steelers made up some points for me as well. That was nice.

And I'll be god-damned if I don't have the worst luck about picking which QB to start. Since I had Rivers on the bench, of course he's having a fantastic game throwing the ball all over the field with several TDs.

okay "great fantasy minds" i have a deal thats working out in my "money" league.

i'm getting rid of Carson Palmer, Larry Johnson, and Eagles D.  i would be getting Micheal Turner, LT, and Javon Walker??

i will be replacing Carson with either Hasselback or Young. both had a bad game last week, but Carson really hasn't done much since week 2. so i'm not losing too much at QB. even though i love Carson, AMD knows that, so its going to hard.

at first glance I thought take it, but now that i think it over you'll be giving up two consistent producers for one star, his backup, and a so-so player in Javon, who could be more productive but a) he's injured b) his team is not looking good this year.

I also have 3-4 players on byes this coming week, so I'm expecting to get my ass whipped.

I think I'm good.

Marshawn Lynch had a heck of a week - as did Lee Evans.

Yeah Bush has turned into a nice surprise this year.  It's hard to believe the Saints have turned it around as well as they have.  They're a complete different team than they were a month ago.

No doubt. I think Brees had damn-near 300 yards passing in the first HALF. It also makes me sad that I let Colston go to aMD a few weeks ago.

I still need another RB, somebody!

TRADE OFFER: my team for your team minus s. alexander. seriously, i love your team. i was sweatin the whole day. every time i turned around there was a super star. FUCK T.O., i was up the whole day till his sorry ass went off. good game though, people better hope you don't make playoffs.

in my money league i need holmes to get some points. so this is going to be a tough game to watch. we should have done our trade next week. that hurt, and probably cost me the W  although with parker and holmes yet to play, i've already started to accept the lose.  gonna be fun though.

alexander is going to be the odd man out. burress was on a bye this week, so i have to sit one player i don't want to. it will just come down to match-ups. i would love to do a two for one deal for LT or AP or Moss, but i'll look at all offers.

We'll see how big and bad K is without Moss and Brady on the bench next!

Sorry, Walt, still not giving up on them.  I know the Bengals season is over but those two should continue to produce some good fantasy stats.  I thought you said you like your team, anyway.

Peyton was horrible...
Brady and the Pats were off.
Phil Rivers actually went for negative 1!
Burress didn't get much.
Steelers/Ravens defenses not so great.

Hopefully Frank Gore gets less than 9 tonight in the Pranksters league.

Bama,
Appreciate the value of that trade...but.

Looks like Big Ben is back to throwing...less TDs for Parker.
Also, since there's no QB in Carolina, Smith isn't that much of a value.

There might be more points there with those two on average, but LT always has that potential to break a 30 point game any week.

Lemme think some more.

I mean, Smith and Parker have more points than LT combined, so adding Calvin in the mix too...taking over for some of my garbage guys...I should pull out ahead in the long run.
I just don't see the Bolts getting it together this year.

Two words:  Devin.  Hester.  He's unbelievable.  He singlehandedly kept the Bears in the game yesterday.  Outside of Adrian Peterson and maybe Randy Moss, does anyone else in this league even come close to being as exciting as this guy?  I just wish the Bears had the offense to be able to take advantage of the field position this guy gives them.  Any other Bears fans here?

you get points if one of your players has a return TD but that's it.  i wish i would've started ted ginn jr two weeks ago, but I didn't even know we got points for that until he ran his in.

btw, seamus, i agree that hester is one of the most exciting players in football and invaluable to any team.  I thought he was going to be a flash-in-the-pan return guy like dante hall turned out to be but it looks like he's here to stay.

oh yea, if i lose, i will lose in a tie breaker to points!  unless my brother and ramrod both lose!

you're lucky to be in the position you are. you have the third lowest point total, at one point you had the second lowest.

it appears as though i may have a victory depending on how Roddy White does for Jon's team tonight.

I also need bama to lose which would give us the same record, i would have more points for the tie breaker.

well i watched the game tonight. i needed Alge Crumpler to get just a few points and Roddy White to get fewer than 15 i think. Alge Crumpler didn't do shit. i think i only witnessed him catch 1 pass for a few yards. White had 1 touchdown, i think i'm good there. i'm not sure if i made it, i'll have to wait 'til morning

holy shit, i can't believe my 2 points held up! this morning i looked at the stat tracker first, and it said that true was in 4th place. i then go to the fantasy page and it has bigfoot in the playoffs(this was at 5:30). at 7:00 i go back to the fantasy page, and it had true in there. i don't know what was going on, but they ended up getting it right.

i'm matched up w/ walt, which sux, cause i think he has the strongest team from top to bottom. i think he is going to take the championsip. i would like my chances better if s. holmes wasn't hurt and if chester taylor were still getting all the carries. oh well!

It's called a stat correction and it will break your heart - I lost 3 games last season on Tuesday in another league and missed the playoffs by a single game.  Win on Tuesday morning, loss on Tuesday afternoon - no fun.  Here is what happened here (I cut and pasted this from my other league's website):

In the Week 14 Minnesota at San Francisco game, an apparent interception of Shaun Hill by Pat Williams has now been ruled a Hill fumble and Pat Willaims fumble recovery by Elias Sports Bureau. Accordingly:
Shaun Hill will now be credited with 2 fumbles, 27 pass attempts, and 0 interceptions.
Pat Williams will be credited with a fumble recovery and a 1 yd return.
The Minnesota defense is credited with an additional sack and fumble recovery.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: bowl of soup on Dec 12, 2007, 03:55 PM
So instead of just one point for the interception, the Minnesota D now gets 2 points, one for the sack and one for the fumble recovery.  Instead of a one point loss, we now have a tie and no playoffs for True.

This is easily the worst result from a stat correction that I have ever seen in over ten years of fantasy football.

The money changes everything.  I play in a league where there is quite a bit of money on the line and we argue like little girls.  We used to be friends.  I still can't believe that you missed the playoffs on a stat correction - I've been telling your sad tale to my friends.

yeah i'm still in disbelief. heres a summary of what happened just for the hell of it:

I originally thought to make the playoffs bigfoot had to beat bama, and I had to beat bad motherfuckers. I barley beat bad motherfuckers by two points, and beat him (the number 1 seed!) both times this season. As it turned out, it didn't matter if bama or bigfoot won, as long as one of them wins and ones of them loses. I watched the flacons saints monday night game as a lot was riding on that game, even though it was boring. Roddy White has a pretty good game and almost ruins my win over bad motherfuckers by 2 points, and Alge Crumpler is non-exisistant and only earns 1 point for bigfoot. I thought I didn't have a chance of making it, figuring bama had to lose and Crumpler didn't do anything to help bigfoot. Bama's 2 point lead turns into a 1 point victory and i make the playoffs as a 4th seed and bigfoot is on the outside looking in after a very promising start. That was the highest i've been to that point, I haven't been in 4th place all year! Playoffs were set for me to once again play bad motherfuckers for two conesecutive weeks. the next day the stat correction gives bigfoot 1 point, and a tie with bama. Both teams end the regular season 8-5-1 (our first tie all year) and me at 8-6 with more total points than bama and bigfoot and back out of the playoffs.

From the horses mouth:

"Also note that the NFL's statistical service, the Elias Sports Bureau, routinely makes stat changes in the days or even weeks following games."

Most fantasy services cut off stat corrections from making scoring changes after Tuesday; so if Elias comes back and changes something in week 2 in week 4, the results won't be changed.  I actually thought it was a fumble.  Shaun Hill went to Maryland, so I was happy to see him finally get in a game.  He was dropping back and being mauled, the ball popped out behind him and was nabbed out of the air.

i think i saw the play during The Blitz on ESPN, not knowing the future consequences it would have. You couldn't really tell if he was trying to throw the ball. The ball came out forward like it was thrown as he was getting hit and was caught in the air.

My memory of the play is wrong.  You can see it here:

You have to select week 14, Min vs. SF and select highlights.  It looks like the ball bounces off a lineman's helmet, but, man, I'd have to say that it looks like an interception to me.  That is a tough, tough call.

i'm still kicking myself for doing that trade. if i remember correctly, we played the same week we did the trade, and my former players turned on me and i lost.  hopefully that won't happen this week.

also its been a fun year. but as far as the pair of tickets for the winner goes...i'm not sure if everyone's down for doing that. some people weren't there for draft. (although it would be only 10 or so bucks per team, which even for me that isn't a lot) BUT i'm saying next year, we let it be known that winner gets tickets. Obviously the founding members have first crack at signing up. i'll pay bama if he wins. i'm just saying that if i win, i won't be pissed if people don't.

same for me walt, if u win, i will pay u cash or if we do the tickets i will pitch in.

well shit, first i found out that fargas is out w/ an injury( he was getting me between 10-15 pts per week). so i had a decision to make either to play c. taylor, s. holmes, or r. williams. weel i had holmes in there till about 4 hrs before the game thursday, but wasn't sure i wanted to do that or not. he has been injured for 3 weeks, and hasn't scored more than 3 pts. so, i call my brother and ask his opinionand he said he would go w/ taylor( and i said yea, i agree. well first play of the game holmes gets an 83 yrd reception and ends up w/ 13 pts.(bastard) hopefully taylor will get a short yardage td.

good luck walt! :)

damn, i got screwed! i had 3 players play 1 1/2 gtrs. a. gonzalez got inj., e. graham and galloway got pulled cause tamp. bay had already clinched a playoff birth( so they pulled the starters so they wouldn't get injured.)

i still think i have a pretty good shot at winning it though. i got l.t. and cutler against gates( i'm down by 16). by the way walt, looks like you made a good move by benching portis for alexander. fuck u alexander. you're my all-time fav. player and didn't do shit for me and had one of your best games of the year scoring wise. i hate u, u are no longer my fav. player! lol :)

pretty nerve racking huh, walt?

its getting down to the wire! i'm sorry i didn't post anything yesterday. (i wanted to) my internet was f'd. i'm hoping for LT  getting pulled after the first half. the chargers playing on monday night, only helps me. they have their playoff spot locked, so they don't need to win. LT won't play as much, but Gates should play pretty much the whole game, i would think.

looks like the portis benching for dumb. i probably should've benched Plax. but thats the breaks.

good luck bama, and merry christmas

good luck to u 2 , walt! that's what i'm afraid is going to happen(tomlinson getting taken out early like graham and galloway!) merry christmas to u and everyone else!

even if i win, i've thought since we made that trade, that u had the best team, and should win it all! u deserve it!

The thing they do have to play for is the 3rd seed, I know the Steelers want to get it if its possible. It could be a difference in playing the Patriots or the Colts in the playoffs. I would feel better about the Steelers chances at playing Colts than the Patriots.

thanx man, i appreciate it! yea, i would send out about 6 trade offers a week at least! lol getting l.t, graham, galloway, and gore were huge! by the way, u deseved to win it, if l. johnson wouldn't have got hurt, u def. would have one. u had a better roster than i did, but from one week to another ,u just don't know how well they will play. unfortunately for u, yours had an off week when it counted the most.

I told him the other day that it would have been pretty sad to see him wheel and deal so much and not even make the final four. It didn't look like he was gonna do it for a while, but I'm pretty sure that LT was a big help.

She's wrapping up nicely, but you should always see what you hit.  You're required to have a team this year and your team name will be Goat Boy.

I dont know if this is an established league or what, but Id be down if you have room for 1 more team. Ive been playing FF for about 10 years know, always good to join a new league with ppl you (somewhat) know as opposed to a yahoo public league

Got room?

We had 10 teams last year, right? Was that the most number of teams we could have, or could we go to 12?
Also, Dylan still wants to be involved, and I'd still like for him to be involved in the league.
So I guess if we can go up to 12, you're more than welcome to join... or if there is someone else that played last year that doesn't want to play this year.

I can't wait for it to start!

i was thinking the same thing. he's still in the fantasy baseball league we all are in, and don't see a reason for him not to join. you don't have to be  in the forum to be a jacket fan. but you have to be a jacket fan to be in the league.

I think 12 is actually the best # for a league. 10 teams usually leaves too many guys on free agency/waivers, although some people like that. Once you get past 12, I think depth is a little too low and you got guys on your roster youll probably never even consider playing

Two of the things I like a lot. MMJ and Fantasy football.

12 teams is always the best way to go.  :D

With all of the new people, you'd think that 12 would be no problem.  I'd vote for a mid-week, early to late afternoon draft as most of us here are just trying to not work.  We should also work on the prize - I still have no idea where I'm supposed to send $20 to from last year.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: .Walt on Jul 01, 2008, 07:50 PM
it was $10, and i don't think he ever cashed my check. i did send it. people who were in it last year have first priority over the newer members. I would be down for a couple league.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: ManNamedTruth on Jul 01, 2008, 11:08 PM
i never agreed on sending money last year, since it was a free league. i'll play for money this year, not sure how that works though.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football (NFL)
Post by: bowl of soup on Jul 02, 2008, 11:04 AM
Not sure there is a good way to work it.  There was a very informal idea that we might all pitch in for tickets or something arrangement last year - nothing that was ever confirmed or agreed to.  I'd rather keep this low stakes and MMJ related; I spend enough $$ on other leagues every year.

I have no good ideas on how to do this though.  Tickets to MSG for NYE would be cool as the season will end at about the same time.  BUT, I don't think any of us are willing to cover travel and hotel for a stay in NYC.
