Curious how many of you are into gaming. I've been playing Counterstrike for 5 years, and the COD Modern Warfare titles (orig and MW2) on a PC. Me and 6 other 40-something pals are online 2-5 nights a week, though I haven't been gaming like I used to lately. Hell, I'm still on my first run through the levels of MW2.
I use a Logitech G35 headset, Fang Gamepad, Reaper gaming mouse, and Rocketfish mouse pad (surprisingly helpful). Here's my gaming set up (the only thing not pictured is the beer):

i play modern warfare 2 all the time... on xbox 360 though
Yeah, most of my students use consoles, so I'm never able to play against them online. Perhaps just as well. It looks like you, too, escape exposure to my subpar skillz.
I only play Civilization online on xbox. I don't like playing other games because I just get called various epithets for a gay black person everytime I win.

;D
my clan tag thing in MW2 is "MMJ" someone finally said something about it the other day, they were as excited to see it as I was to hear them say it... pretty cool guys too
I'm a bit shocked we haven't had a video game thread yet. Any Bioshock fans out there?

I love bioshock, one of my all time favorite games... I am too poor to get 2 though, I will someday and can't wait to play it
i play NHL07 and Fight Night Round 3 on my PS2 like its my job
hopefully beyonce will gotta let me upgrade soon
My mouse died and this came a day early, just before the latest storm. Time to play!

Nice!
I picked up a Razer mouse a couple of months ago and love it. However I don't think I'll ever trade-in my Logitech G510 anytime soon.
I dabble, Play mw3, COD ( all of them ). I usaully only do campaign mode and then my daughter gets on multiplayer and goes Zombie hunting. I've tried to play multiplayer but I have a bad habit of getting smoked by smart ass 10 year olds. I swear to god I'm gonna call there parents and tell them to put the little fuckers to bed earlier.

Too funny!
We play Counterstrike: Global Offensive against bots or sometimes online, but it is humilating getting destroyed by punk ass kids. I actually played a solid 4 hours of CS: Source this weekend, a LAN party with 3 others. None of us were much good on laptops, but it was fun being locked in with a snowstorm and many beers.
Considering my last gaming mouse, an Ideazon Reaper1600 dpi, would only register every other click of the primary mouse button, my kill stats were shit. Hoping to see vast improvements now that every mouse click will actually mean a shot.
I have no idea how to set up the weights. I've set it up a bit bottom heavy and have it on the CONTROL side of a Rocketfish gaming mouse pad. I swear this mouse pad is the best part of my gaming setup!

I'm the sponsor of the game club at my school. One afternoon a week, kids bring their handhelds, consoles, card games, board games, whatever they want to my room and play games for an hour. It's usually kids that aren't super social, but they love to play games. This gives them a place to belong and to hang out with like-minded kids. It changes over the years who shows up and what type of games they play, but it amazes me what they are willing to lug to my classroom from home. They're my type of people. Back when I taught Sunday School (don't ask, it was a disaster letting the athiest teach Sunday School), my class and I would go to a restaurant with wifi and play MarioKart or Animal Crossing for a couple of hours after church. I enjoyed that more than actually teaching the Sunday School class for obvious reasons.

I used to race NR2003 a ton but that died off when I moved to my shitty aptartment. Recently the itch came back and I just started iRacing 2 weeks ago. Got promoted to D and am trying to find the time to build up to a C license before the next promotion date. That ear-x-tacy truck is niiiice. I don't feel like I'm good enough to put 'sponsors' on my cars yet. I am also playing on an oldish laptop with the graphics turned down a bit and with a terrible wheel/pedals set up. I'll be moving into my own place soon and then I'll get really serious.
We got Skyrim for our 15 year old this Christmas and lo and behold if I didn't get absolutely ADDICTED to it (as LD can sadly attest to!). There are so many places to go in that game, it amazes me.

 Skyrim is a true masterpiece. I'm currently working my way through Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning on PS3 and it is excellent! It's another open ended RPG very similar to Skyrim from the character development to looting to infinite questing. I've logged about 100 hours and am about 2/3 of the way through or maybe more. Sadly it didn't receive the critical acclaim that Skyrim did but I find the combat to be much more enjoyable. Just no friggin dragons and that's a problem...because there are no friggin' dragons.
So if anyone is looking for a highly comparable experience to Skyrim, I recommend it.

Hmmm, sounds like I'd better include some dragons in the game I'm working on: Caliphates of Zorjizzidor: The Forskinnening.
I played Dungeons and Dragons in junior high (I know, I should probably just keep that information to myself), so Skyrim is right up my alley. At least I don't have to hang out with nerdy pimply dorks in order to play! Ruckus, I think LD would kill me with a withering gaze if I picked up another video game like Skyrim (but I'll keep it in mind!)
I'm currently working my way through Batman: Arkham Asylum right now. It's not a bad game so far.
I went to Best Buy today intending to get Skyrim, but since they still want $50 for it, I got the Masters edition of Tiger Woods '13, which I'm guessing is about 3 years old in keeping with typical video game anniversarial nomenclature. It works with the Kinect thingy, so I imagine that my TV will soon have a 9-iron poking through it.

I would do this, but I don't have a wheel or pedals, and am afraid of addiction. I went through a bout of dependency on GPL back in the 90s/00s, even with just a joystick. I think I've driven the Nurburgring more times than anybody ever has in real life.
I've been looking for a fun board game for our family. After careful research - meani g I've read about it twice and heard others discuss the game, I've just bought Settlers of Catan. We are going to sit down later today and try to play.
Any Halo players out there? I started playing halo 1 (played it religiously for years with friends) and now play halo 4. Also I recently started playing skyrim, which is extremely dangerous for gamers. Very addictive. Very awesome.

GPL was the best. For a while that was the only game I could get my computer to run in around 2000. They eventually used that engine for NASCAR 4 - 2003, and that pretty much evolved into iRacing.
It's so tough to find a time to do iRacing now. When I was part-time i'd race till 2am and whatnot, but races take over an hour in the truck series, even longer in the Nationwide and Cup series. Plus the time it takes to tweak setups, test and practice! I started getting into Sportscars before I stopped, because I reached an A class in the ovals, and i'm barely a D on Road. Bought the Mustang and a few tracks. Adds up quickly...

The Halo series including the OSDT and Wars side games are awesome, my favorite 1st person shooter of all time.
The elder scrolls series is awesome if you are into RPGs, you can get really lost into them. But that is the way good RPGs are.
I have always been into Madden, NCAA football, and the different MLB games throughout the years as well.
I too fell victim to Skyrim's evil clutches  . Once I finished that I stayed away from games until just yesterday. I just started messing around with Far Cry 3 which is pretty cool. I play strictly on consoles because I have no idea how to tell if my PC is up to task.
In a perfect world, the PS4/720 launches at the end of the year with Fallout 4 alongside it. :cheesy:
Just hooked up my G27 and ran a few laps on iRacing... I definitely need to get more practice in... Kinda sad the Street Stocks are now only Rookie to D.
Yeah, I started playing Skyrim over the last couple months. I haven't been addicted to a game in a long time. I'm up past level 20 now. I can easily put an hour or two into it every night. The detail is pretty amazing to me. I love me some Lydia.

Street Stocks races were such a mess for me. I was a total noob but compared to the others on track I was like Jeff Gordon. Managed to get a win when the top 3 guys all crashed and I didn't. When I graduated to D I bought the K&N series car (whatever they call it) and practiced at Thompson for a while. That track is fun alone, but racing is another thing. I thought there would be more D and C licenses in the race, but it was almost entirely guys with A licenses. I finished in 10th, 2 laps down with a damaged car. Definitely need more practice (TIME) in that car.

Is that the Late Model? That's a blast, too. I wanted to get back into the Street Stocks because I kinda just wanted to work my way back up to trucks. I may start with the Late Models next, or do more road racing.

It wasn't the late mod. The next one up from that. I should probably spend some time in the late mod tho. Was trying to save money by just skipping up.
I had an awful street stocks race last night. I got rammed TWICE on the pace laps and then taken out TWICE during the race. Lost a shit ton of rating points or whatever. I am never doing street stocks again. Too many dummies.

Ahh I didn't know they still ran that car, That used to be the old Nationwide car, good to see it's still running, those were fun!
I just found out there's a C-class and higher street stock series. I may jump into that before I go into Trucks.
Just got myself a new video card, an AMD 7870, didn't think it'd be much of an upgrade over my GeForce 9800GT but I was wrong.
Also just bought the Gen6 Ford for iRacing.
Also probably gonna pick up Sim City once it works
Im stuck on a part in Skyrim, so I started playing Max Payne 3, which Im almost finished with.
I'm gonna say it: I don't care for Elder Scrolls. Any of them. I get bored because the fighting is so boring. I love RPGs though.
Best games of all time are
The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
Final Fantasy 7
The newest Zelda is almost as good as some of the old ones. It's worth owning a shitty Wii for. I play video games pretty casually though. Maybe some Halo 4 when I'm bored, that's about it. I would love to find a new RPG though
Heard the new Mass Effect DLC is fantastic, anyone here play it?
e_wind, in regards to RPGs, have you given Dragon's Dogma a whirl? It's an action RPG but it is very well done. I used to prefer turn based RPGs but games like Dogma has changed my opinion. Super enjoyable game.
Been playing a ton of Battlefield 3 lately. I'll wander away from it for a month or so at a time but eventually I get sucked back in. Easily my favorite FPS on PS3.
Picked up Dead Space 3 a little while ago. Not nearly as engrossing as the 1st 2 but still decent.

Dragon's Dogma has been next on my list once I complete Amalur. Glad to hear you vouch for it peafunk. Then again the word "dragon" is in the title so. Found a used copy of Caliphates of Jorjizzidor at a truckstop halfway between OKC and Stillwater. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with it yet.
I've been to Zorjizzidor but I had to Google caliphate.
I'm a PC gamer, although I used to play more than I do now. I built my own PC my senior year of high school, so it is about 2 years old, but it plays anything I through at it on max. I played Diablo III heavily last summer, followed by Guild Wars 2. Other than that, I have Battlefield 3, Dead Space 2, Witcher 2, Starcraft II, and I have been dabbling with the free online dungeon crawler called Path of Exile. Sadly enough, PoE is actually more fun than Diablo III.

I'd like to try Halo but there's no PS3 compatible version . I really enjoyed Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas--especially the insane weaponry. I think I liked Vegas a little more because of the extra capabilities the character had. Otherwise its been Blackops, Half Life (orange box), the various SOCOMs, Battlefield Bad Co., etc. I guess I'm just a 1st person kinda guy.
Oh yeah, I'm also bummed about the lack of PS3 versions for Gears of War!

It's funny how popular video games are now compared to when I was growing up.
But I do love all of the ones that are being funded through Kickstarter these days.. more power to the indies!
don't have that much time to play these days but i've been casually playing diablo 3 which is pretty fun esp. when playing with people you know.

Nope, Dragon's Dogma is available on both PS3 & XBOX I believe. It kind of flew under the radar but received excellent reviews. I had a blast with it for several months. The combat system is well designed. The story aspect is slightly weak but the gameplay more than makes up for it.
Did anyone catch the announcement about the xbox one? I watched some of it, the NFL feature seems cool, but they didn't show many games for it...I think E3 is where we will see lots of that.
Also, what are y'alls thoughts on the next gen consoles? Ps4 or xbox one?

EA has Madden looking pretty close to the same and also it looks like they've messed up UFC. Xbox One appears to be garbage: can't rent games, games have to be installed on a hard drive with no expandable memory, games are only valid on the original xbox they were purchased for (no borrowing games from friends), can't buy used games (requires you to pay full price to reactivate it), not backwards compatible, requires a kinect, etc.
I currently have a 360, but I think I'll probably go with the Playstation 4.
After they released the prices, I'm leaning toward PS4 now. The ONLY reason I would go for the One is for Halo5...
I'm also not a fan of how Xbox will be spying on me now!

I have always preferred the Xbox, but probably because I have always been a Halo fan, but I am not too sure I like the whole entire setup of the new system enough to make it happen.
Xbox One for me. It can do everything the PS4 can do...and then more.
Let's not forget that Xbox has Titanfall as an exclusive, although that may change in the future. Titanfall is from the guys who essentially created and made COD what it is today, as far as game mechanics and such...not the over saturation.
Playstation 4 has Watchdogs
I have also always been a big fan of the Killzone series on PS. Halo is the only thing xbox has going for it. I feel like their entire marketing department needs to get fired after this release. They have a lot going for them but did a poor job explaining how things worked. And I feel like Playstation 4 has beat xbox 1 in almost every way possible, thus far.
My friend said he talked to his gamestop and they were getting a little over 70 ps4's on release and had less than 10 pre-orders left. On the other hand, they were only getting 9 xbox one's on release and weren't even sold out of preorders!!!
Bump
Anyone get a next gen console? I was totally surprised to find a PS4 under my tree yesterday. No games yet but I did redeem the 30 day free PS Plus voucher and downloaded Rezogun. Good stuff but man is it tough. I'm not sure what to get first, Need for Speed or Killzone. If anyone here has a PS4 feel free to add me - NittanyRoar.
Transport Tycoon Deluxe anyone?
