So I almost started this thread while watching the unbelievable Wimbledon final between Federer and Roddick a few weeks ago, but didnt. Im still salty and sad that Roddick didnt win that one, he played great and gave it his all but still came up just short. If it wasnt for him choking away the lead in that tiebreak in the 2nd set (dont remember exactly, but I think he was up 6-1 and lost it 7-6), I think he wouldve won it.
...but Im starting this today because of the British Open and 59 year old Tom Watson still maintaining his lead with only a couple holes left. He has 8 majors, but hasnt won 1 since the 80's. I havent been able to watch the last few days because of work, but this is unbelievable. Im kind of feeling like this will end up being a 2 or 3 man playoff, but hopefully he wins it outright.
So anyway, we have the hockey, baseball, football(s), basketball, and boxing thread, but I dont think any other sports get enough talk to have there own thread, but we can talk some golf, tennis, MMA, cycling, etc or even Nascar (ugh) if your heart desires . Although this Jeremy Mayfield stuff is probably the only thing that has ever interested me concerning driving in a circle.
ugh....what a meltdown in the playoff by Watson.
I dont think I can even watch the last hole. I think Im going to switch to a less surprising meltdown and watch the Bucco game.
Yes that Wimbledon final was one of the greatest finals I've ever seen. Ohh the 2nd set tiebreaker, choking from 6-2...
I too was rooting for Watson but I feel for Cink. He should be allowed to enjoy his victory properly
Cink's a hellofa golfer and deserved a major. On another sports topic: Does anyone else want to see Brock Lesnar just get his ass stomped by somebody?! I know this maybe physically impossible but I dont want a tapout, I want a knockout.
Oh and Mayfields just a methhead that hasnt shown the physical signs yet. It's pretty pathetic.
Anyone hear how Andre Agassi admits in his new autobiography that he was using Meth during the 1997 ATP season?
Pretty nuts...I also found it funny that he told them his assistant Slim used to spike his drinks with meth and he accidentally drank it, thats why his test came up positive. and they believed him and threw out the test ;D

Classic example of the difference between team sports and individual sports. The tennis tour could not afford to suspend their biggest star for such a violation. The revenue and PR hit would be too great. As the rumors are abundant now that many PGA golfers are juiced, do you think if it was illegal, that the PGA would have the balls to suspend Tiger. I sure as hell don't think so.
Didn't know where else to put this but we have a sports talk radio station here that is local part time and fox sports radio during some segments. On the same day, the local show intro music was Aluminum Park and Chris Meyers' show was the intro lick to Off the Record. Thought that was pretty cool

Nice...even on Fox TV broadcasts, they usually have pretty good music when they go into commercial breaks, etc. I've heard a ton of Phish, Dead, Panic, etc. Never MMJ though.

Agreed on Tiger...judging by the shape he's in, if anyone in the PGA is juicing, its probably him.
I also read something the other day that at the major tennis school Agassi was at before he was a pro (I forget the name of the school, last name began with a B), he was busted multiple times for weed and coke, but because he was Agassi and the biggest talent in the school, nothing ever happened.
I bet that dude used to rage back in the day

I say good for her. If the refs don't catch her....

Quotelooking forward to fedor tonight. hopefully my mancrush will continue
fedor is a beast. i like boxing much more than MMA, but those fights entertained me last night. havent seen too many of fedor's fights, but rogers looked a lot better than any other guy ive seen in the ring against fedor. i think he's actually legit and with some more seasoning id like to see a rematch.
I've heard so much about Fedor but only seen clips of him on Youtube. I watched the fight on repeat last night and it was a good fight. When he throws he really throws, it's totally ferocious.
I was a bit disappointed in his ground game, after hearing so much about him, but he showed some guts to come through that broken nose, as well as when Rogers was pounding on him. The fact is nobody seems to be able to beat him.
It's a shame it doesn't look like we are going to get to see him in the UFC, there would have been some interesting match-ups for sure.
I agree with both of you guys. Fedor is getting old now and it's a shame that he is only getting pub now for the non hardcore fanbase. Rogers looked strong and athletic but was definitely a little raw. It was an amazing escape by Fedor when he was bottom and Rogers started a ground and pound. He took some real shots but reversed effortlessly without and fear or panic. Extraordinary.
Fedor's ground game usually results in submissions by arm or leg from what I've seen and not many from chokes. He tried on one or two occasions against Rogers but Rogers' strength seemed to get him out of it before any real trouble. The accuracy of Fedor on his long power punches is impressive.
It was great to see this on network television
I cant believe the dude is only 5'9'' and 1/2 too....makes his record that much more impressive when you gotta think most guys he goes against are like 6'2''+ and have a reach advantage.
The Tiger Woods debacle is another reason why I HATE ESPN! For the last ten years, all they have reported is man drama and gossip. I understand it is a 24 hour sports network but FUCK! >:( It's why I avoid it like the plague. That's why I love MLB TV and watching AFC and NFC playbook on NFL network. Some acutal sports analysis is nice once in a while.
Who gives a shit? The only professional athletes that haven't had an affair in the history of sports are AC Green, Doug Christie, and eunuchs. I guess it only speaks to the innate need for men to also need gossip and drama masked behind sports. :(
So you think that whole affair thing is true?
I dont care at all what actually happened, but I think he would be better off and people wouldnt still be talking about the story if he just came out and said what was going on.
2:30AM...hitting a hydrant...hitting a tree...going less than 30 MPH. I dont know what it was, but something was going on. I would say he was shitfaced, but I would assume the hospital wouldve gotten labs done on him, even though he is Tiger Tiger Woods Y'all!
And now there's another woman involved. It seems Tiger has been on the prowl for three years (not the NY woman). I heard a damaging phone message Tiger left his Florida mistress - it was on the non-gossip CBC news.
Oh yeah, don't be too sure about Doug Christie's fidelity. He was known to have a wandering eye during his years with the Raptors.
I could care less, but honestly... how can you cheat on this?

Posted this before I heard about it now being 3 different women and the voicemail thing, but Im right with you AMC - I realize its nice to get as much strange as you can, but when you have a wife like that, why bother?! Not to mention losing $100 million or something to her if they were to get divorced if there's no prenupt.
..I still dont get the accident though. How do you run into a fire hydrant and a tree going less than 30 MPH unless youre drunk or just got beat up by your wife?!

My heart desires some NASCAR talk. :P
Yesterday's finish to the Daytona 500 was one of the best, most exciting finishes in the big race I've seen in my 16 or so years of NASCAR fandom. Underdog Jamie McMurray won as Dale Jr came out of nowhere and went from 10th to 2nd in just 2 laps. The emotion in victory lane was touching and refreshing. The guys who win all the time just don't show any emotion like that. It's looking like it's gonna be a good seson.

I agree that it was great to see MacMurray win. That was one agonizing 7 hours however. I loved to see the new 2 lap, no win on caution rule. It allowed for a true finish but I guess opens the door for even more aggressiveness at the end. It was one hell of a move my Jr., the only one who avoided the sliding leaders and somehow maintained momentum. It was interesting hearing him say he already knew going into the last lap that he had used all his momentum and had nothing left to pass MacMurray.
It was a great finish but not even close to 2007
QuoteIt was a great finish but not even close to 2007
O man, I had forgotten about that one somehow. I was so focussed on the crashing that I actually missed the photo finish until the replay. Twas a pity for Mark, but Harvick is ok in my book.
Yeah I loved the new rule changes. NASCAR is finally beginning to redeem themselves after all the botched finishes over the last few years.
anybody else hear about how Floyd Landis apparently tried to hack into the computers to change he blood test a few years back when he won the Tour de France?!
Hilarious. I think there is an international warrant out for his arrest now
why the funk cant I not watch Eldrick playing at the Masters until 4pm >:( >:(

Tom Watson with a 5 under to lead so far :o

They (The Masters) are making a point to not do anything different (coverage wise) that normal. At least we'll see a little this afternoon. If he would have had a morning tee time, we wouldn't see any of it. Like tomorrow.
5 under is pretty strong. Tom Watson is going to have a lot of people pulling for him, for a day at least.

So somebody is sending planes up with messages pulled behind. The first one said "Tiger, did you mean Bootyism?" It flew over right as he teed off. Something tells me Jim Nantz won't be waxing poetic about this particular event.
The next one apparently will say something like, "Sex addict? Yea right. Me too."
I'm all for creating a commotion, but it seems that for all of the expense and planning of such a stunt, they could have done better.
Great to watch Eldrick and see him have a good round...Very interesting leaderboard with Woods only 2 shots back and Couples, Lefty, and Watson the top 3
LEFTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!
Not all that suspenseful down the stretch, but Im glad Phil won.
Wasnt it just 5 or so years ago people saying he'd never win a major?! ::)
I didn't dip my head in here for a while but I definitely watched Saturday and Sunday's rounds in their televised entirety. I was happy to see Phil win. He was my pre-tourney pick. I agree with you that it was somewhat anticlimactic but only over the last few holes. At the turn, there were so many names within a few strokes of each other that I thought the back 9 would be insane! Alas, we had to settle for Mickelson's brilliance from the pine straw on 13 with the 6 iron from 207 to within 4 feet. ::) Phil on 13-15 on Saturday may have been the the best 3 hole stretch I've ever witnessed. Had he holed that eagle approach on 15!?...... :o

Yeah, those shenanigans were ridiculous. Who cares right? What was there to do better. He cheated on his wife. Woopity doo. I'd venture that most people are sex addicts. Some are just slightly more prolific than others. I'm more disappointed in Tiger that his ladies weren't any better. ::)
It is for the over publicizing of crap like this that I no longer watch any ESPN other than live game or tournament coverage. It's a freakin soap opera channel publicizing nothing but man drama.

I agree with you about ESPN, and media in general. Whitlock touches on that here, http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/why-guys-like-jones-cant-be-human
One aspect of this whole Tiger sex-addict cheater thing that really gets under my skin is that some of his closest friends were in on, encouraged and helped cover-up his shenanigans; and they kept the lie going in front of his wife . I can tell you this: I like my friends' wives and if I knew one or more were cheating on them, I'd cut ties with our friendship and/or beat the fucking piss out of every fucking one of them. It's about honour, loyalty and respect and if you are doing this to women I consider friends, then our friendship(s) ain't worth a damn thing.
I see where youre coming from Jaimoe, although I think it depends on how good of a friend this guy was for me to agree with you. If it was one of my handful of best friends who Ive known for half my life, I wouldnt end the friendship, fight them, or tell the wife. It would bother me, and I wouldnt help cover up the affair or anything, but these friends are like family, and I would never go against them like that.
QuoteI'm more disappointed in Tiger that his ladies weren't any better. ::)
Uchitel is pretty smoking. Joslyn James is about the ugliest pornstar Ive ever seen though ;D

I respect that you wouldn't try to cover up any discretions, but I have lots of friends and I think cutting loose some old friends, no matter how far back I go with them, is fine and in the long run, healthy. I don't like being around or in a poisonous environment.
DEGA
Loved watching Lefty yesterday...Lots of names near the top with him - Els, Casey, Choi, Leonard, Poulter. Ishikawa and Johnson have both been playing great and could make it even more interesting. The 14th hole is killin' fools.

I didnt even know they had fantasy golf ;D
He's been looking sharp on the back 9...almost every hole he's had a decent putt attempt for bird. Down to even now. Id love to see him in 1 of the last 2-3 groups tomorrow.
Dustin Johnson is still playing spectacular. Interested to see how he plays the more difficult back 9. He's got to be the favorite from here on out.

Looks like you'll get your wish about being in the last couple groups. Fantasy golf is kinda boring, but it's alright. I always start after the season begins, so I usually end up with a shitty rank.
I like fantasy golf but can't find enough friends interested so...
Did anyone watch the Wimbledon match. I watched from 59-59 in the 5th to the end when Isner took it 70-68. Absolutely ridiculous.

I watched the same part you did but none of the fireworks from the day before. I expected it to last like 15 minutes on thursday, glad neither of them crapped out and they played over an hour yesterday. Mahut was definitely looking better than Isner yesterday, I think he got a little lucky.
....also, congrats to McDowell. Still surprised none out of Tiger, Lefty, or Els made a run, but McDowell defintiely played Pebble the best from day 1-4 and deserved. What a chokejob by Dustin Johnson in the first few holes.
Fedor loses?! Didnt think that was possible without the world combusting.
Im no MMA aficionado, but seemed to me he got overconfident by going to the ground there. Its one thing if he really landed a big blow on Werdum, but it didnt even look like he hit him. Looked like Werdum just went down to bait him to the ground, got what he wanted, end of fight. I think if Fedor kept it off the ground, he wouldve won, but he got too greedy too early.
Overeem looked pissed Fedor lost before he got to fight him ;D
Big matchup today! No Kobayashi, but still lets go Joey, win again! USA! USA! USA!

Nah, forgot about it and missed it...Im sure I'll catch a rerun this week. Saw highlights though and I guess Kobayashi couldnt enter because some kind of contract dispute and then he tried to get on stage to enter the competition?! Who wouldve thought hot dog eating could get so intense! ;D
Anyone else going to watch the Lebron special tonight? Is this the first time a pro athlete has had a primetime special for free agency? What the hell?
I don't know what I'd want him to do. Being from the midwest it's hard to keep our stars. We just got our hometown hero Joe Mauer signed, so I realize the importances of it to a community. So I kinda want him to stay in Cleveland. But that buddy I have from Cleveland would be devastated, and I kinda want that to happen. I guess I'm going to hope he stays.

I despise that he's doing this, basically proclaiming he's more important than any other player in the league (and giving me just another reason to like Kobe more than him), but I wont be able to look away tonight. Im not sure if it was broadcast because sports media wasnt what it is today back then, but I believe Gretzky did the same thing when he went from the Oil to the Kings.
Everybody today is saying he's gone and going to Miami. Lebron, Bosh, and Dywane - not to mention Beasley if he picks his game up - will be ridiculous. Its almost unfair and hard to believe its even possible with a salary cap. Hopefully the finals next year is Lakers-Heat, that would be tits.

In my heart, I know he'll stay. Even though the $ goes to charity, I can't see him setting that hoopla up, only to devastate an entire city. I think he'll stay and then they can try to go after Chris Paul. LeBron, Chris and Byron Scott, nice big happy family.
If he goes to Chicago, I'll GET IT, but I won't be happy.
If he goes to Miami, he's dead to me. No one wants an NBA dream team, it was boring the first time in the Olympics. Plus, if he DOES win, what will it really mean? He won't go to Miami. No room for all the egos, only one basketball to go around. (He's NOT going to Miami)
Sports Guy's column is great today, check it out.
Hope I'm not eating my words, but I think he's gonna stay because he wants to not just win, but he wants to do it in Cleveland. Plus he can't leave, just as I'm coming back home.
Lebron can go %$#* himself. The difference between Kobe and Lebron is that Kobe acts like he's the shit and knows that he acts like he's the shit while Lebron acts like he 's the shit and somehow honestly pretends like he doesn't act like he's the shit.
What's up with Ohio? First Terrell Pryor press conference and now this. Next up, Shin Soo Choo will announce why he is denouncing kimchi for health reasons. ::)

That makes sense, but I think James is so full of himself at this point he isnt thinking about the city. He's thinking about $$$, championships, and his legacy - although IMO, winning a bunch of championships with Dywane and Bosh at his side doesnt have near the same impact as winning it in Cleveland without them.
I hope they go 75-7 this year and lose to the Lakers in the finals

Id guess Lebron/his people wanted this to happen and the charity stuff was thought up after the fact so only 75% of the population get on his case instead of everybody jumping all over him.

This would be my guess.
All I have to say is that if he does stomp on the hearts of Cleveland fans once again, I would not want to be in his shoes when the Heat make their bi-anual visits to the Q. Art Modell has NEVER stepped foot back in Cleveland since he ripped the Browns out from under us. But LeBron won't have a choice.
Part of me agrees with Penny in that I can't imagine he would have the audacity to schedule this bullshit nationally televised press conference as a means to stab his hometown fans in the back. But then again, I never would have imagined him orchestrating an hour long special on national tv to tell us his intentions either... ::)
I also agree with Penny in that if he does go to Miami he is dead to me as well. I really don't see how those 3 egos will co-exhist on one team. I mean all 3 were in the top 10 in the league in scoring. But that was also due to the fact that they were THE guy on each of their respective teams.
LeBron is already despised pretty much around the rest of the NBA outside of Cleveland. And with his dissing of Chicago and New York, you can bet he will be most despised now in two of the biggest markets in the NBA. Add in the fact that Miami isn't all that great of a sports town and I think he is abslolutely foolish if he bolts to Miami. He will be villified everywhere outside of Miami and their fans are meh at best.
And sure the Heat will become instant favorites to win it all, but what will LeBron going to Miami do to his legacy? The Heat have been and will always be Wade's team. IMO, LeBron's legacy will be riding the coat-tails of Wade because he wasn't good enough to win a ring on his own!
I hope the rumors are wrong and he comes out and announces he's staying in Cleveland. But even with that said. This whole hour long special to announce who has the priviledge of landing King James has lessened the respect I have for that young man.
And to add to the increasing lack of respect I have for King James, yes his hour long love fest with himself will be donating proceeds to the Boys and Girls Clubs. But did you hear where his love fest special is being televised? At the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich CT?! The same Greenwich CT that is the wealthiest community per capita in the USA! As I heard on the radio yesterday, what do kids do at the Boys and Girls Club in Greenwich CT? Learn yaghting and polo or maybe how to set up their portfolios?!?! ;D Just another example of how pretentious and out of touch with reality the King really is... :-/
I really think that the Cavs fans fucked themselves by booing him and the team. You don't do that to your boy in his contract year. I still think he should stay in Cleveland, that city needs him badly. It's not like they sucked either, so he has a good chance at winning. I don't get why free agents wouldn't wanna play with him. So I think they can build around him if he stays.
I go with ESPN reaching out to LeBron and paying his ass. Then selling him on doing something for charity, so it doesn'y look that bad.

Lebron is trying to build a legacy outside of basketball and that's just not possible in Cleveland. The ladies are just finer in South Beach and I can't blame him for that.
Get Brad Daugherty's ass away from NASCAR and get yourselves the Triple Towers of Z (is he still a Cav?), Brazilian V and Brad D and y'all are good to go.

Also, Im surprised Bosh actually stayed in Toronto as long as he did. He didnt even want to play in Cleveland for christsake. I dont really see how he fucked over Toronto.

Hey Jaimoe,
It's been argued before in baseball and here again in basketball. How much do you think the Canadian federal income tax has to do with these decisions (BJ Ryan aside)? Regardless of the current exchange rate, Bosh went from a higher federal rate to a state that has no state income tax.
Penny - Tell the king to swoop through Tampa and pick my ass up :D too bad Cleveland...
Very rarely do I say, "I'm glad I live in Miami." However, this morning I am glad I live in Miami.
Now to find a way to afford tickets to a game.
Had a great night texting my buddy last night, but I really feel bad. I'm listening to the Cleveland sports radio station, and it's very entertaining. I really hate that there was some type of collusion going on between all 3 of them. And throw in the sleazy Pat Riley, wow. LBJ should've taken a page outta another MVP and most allstar votes, Joe Mauer. But Mauer wouldn't have made it into all about himself, and talked in the third person. I started watching ESPN about 30mins before the "the decision", and 5mins before 8, I thought to myself I can't believe how flat out ridiculous this is.
He's gone on, and so are his chances of being the greatest ever. He never won a thing, and you can't say the Cavs didn't try to give him everything he wanted. What more could they do? Clearly you can even pay for loyalty. Kobe will be always better. I hope he knows that. He was so loved by everyone. He's hated now. No longer a marketing darling. People still want to see players with one team their entire career. Even if that player isn't on their favorite team. Loyalty is so special. I really feel bad for Cleveland.
But on a side note...If LBJ didn't leave, the T-Wolves wouldn't be getting Beasley.
the 1 thing I remember from The Lebron James Show last night?

nicely said, Walts
i think the owner's letter was more for the fans, and yeah it was bitter and immature..but i'm glad it was said
i just don't remember Ewing or Hakeem or Karl leaving...but times have changed and i guess rings are more important now. and it IS collusion, he may as well have joined the globetrotters...
i also just bought my neice a lebron jersey for good karma...damn

That said, I like Kobe more than Lebron but him going to Miami instantly makes me more interested in the NBA
Funny you say this because I feel exactly the opposite. My interest in the NBA has slowly eroded since Jordan retired. My peak interest was during the days of Magic vs. Bird and Jordan carried the torch until he retired. And I guess LBJ rekindled my interest as he played for my hometown team. But with this whole free agency fiasco as we watched teams dump salaries to set themselves up to attempt to buy their way to a championship, I have no interest in the NBA whatsoever anymore.
I mean, I saw a stat that absolutely amazed me wrt the NBA and that is that only 8 different teams have won the NBA title in the last 30 years! Wow, that really makes me interested in this league?! Meanwhile, MLB who most people say has the real problem of teams piling up gaudy payrolls has had 17 different champions over the same time-span.
I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see the NHL benefit from this as well. I think the NBA needs some major fixing and interest will continue to drop outside of places like LA, Boston and now Miami (until the novelty wears off on their fairweather fans). Meanwhile, the NHL seems to be on the rise with the with the showcase their stars put on in the Olympics last winter and the emerging young stars throughout the league, I know my sport of choice to follow next winter will definitely be on the ice and not on the hard court.
The only interest I will have in the NBA next season is being amused in watching the Heat fail to win it all and watching Lebron pout off the floor in disgrace after losing prematurely yet again in the playoffs. Meanwhile watching Kobe and the Lakers continue to dominate the league. Hell, I think the Heat will struggle to make it out of the East as I feel the Bulls are a better TEAM!
QuoteBut on a side note...If LBJ didn't leave, the T-Wolves wouldn't be getting Beasley.
Quite an amount of young talent the Wolves are stockpiling

I'm in the same boat as you, Beer. I've been hearing how this is good for the league, but how? To have only a handful of good teams doesn't make any sense. Now it seems that no teams have a chance. How are the other teams going to sell that to their fans? But Headdy is going to watch, so David Stern is happy ;)
I also will be watching hockey this year, but that's a given. Way more talent and youth in the NHL right now and every second matters in the game. Basketball?...let me know when there's 5 minutes left in the game and if it's close, then maybe I'll get excited. I hope you're right about the NHL gaining some momentum. That would be sweet!

Eh, its all relative. I dont care about or watch any NBA games until the playoffs, but this will elevate my interest ever so slightly during the regular season.
I'll still be watching a ton of hockey as the Pens strive for another cup.

We'll never get Rubio here, it's too cold for him. Corey Brewer isn't good. We don't have a leader, I think that's the problem, and Al Jefferson isn't the answer. He looks good on a bad team., like Gil Arenas. I'll give Flynn some more time, but he's seems like every other guard we draft, an underachiever.
I was hoping we'd draft that guy from KY. If we got him and Beasley, that would be sweet! I would actually look forward to reading the paper in the morning. Wolves lose 71-103...local NBA stars get in trouble outside Minneapolis strip club. Maybe wishful thinking? Well, hopefully Beasley can make headlines.

Forgot you guys drafted Wes Johnson. He could be good, but I cant believe they took him over Demarcus Cousins (probably the guy from KY youre talking about). I mightve even taken Cousins over Turner or Wall.
Speaking of Arenas, now that Chicago missed out on Lebron I think he'd be a perfect fit there. He is exactly what they dont have - swingman who can score wherever and whenever he wants. Put him alongside Rose, Boozer, Noah, Deng, Gibson and you got a team that I think can hang with Boston and Miami

Just saw that Dasean Butler did in fact tear his ACL. Not sure where he was supposed to be drafted, but IMO he was a mid first round pick. The new projections are 2nd round to undrafted. I think he'd still be a great pick for one of those playoff teams who already have a good bench and will be picking in the late 2nd. I think Cleveland picking him would make a lot of sense.
Now that they have who they have, great pick by Miami that fits into what I was thinking

Few things....
1) The best part - and possibly most accurate - thing of both those Simmons articles is when he compared Lebron doing this to Hulk Hogan joining and forming the NWO ;D....If you actually listen to what the Hulkster says, its eerily relatable to Lebron as well
2) This stuff Jesse Jackson said is retarded. Slave master? C'mon now. Gilbert felt jilted and disrespected, and was pissed his franchise just became a cellar dweller in a matter of minutes.
3) This shirt is pretty rad: http://kissmyasslebron.bigcartel.com/product/you-can-head-south-but-your-mom-rides-west

2) This stuff Jesse Jackson said is retarded. Slave master? C'mon now. Gilbert felt jilted and disrespected, and was pissed his franchise just became a cellar dweller in a matter of minutes.
3) This shirt is pretty rad: http://kissmyasslebron.bigcartel.com/product/you-can-head-south-but-your-mom-rides-west
Watching the NWO clip was great. I was way more of a WWF guy, but I'll never forget that. It was in the height of my wrestling watching.
The Gilbert letter wasn't bad, I didn't think it deserved Jesse Jackson's attention either. I thought it was an owner trying anything to get fans to come back. The fans were pissed and he tried to relate to them. It was desperate, not racist. I was listening to Stephen A Smith this morning, and he was going off about how racist it was. I hate Stephen A. Smith. How does that guy keep getting jobs? He said that all blacks felt it was racist, but he sure as heck didn't listen to Cleveland sports radio the day after. Every caller backed up the owner, yes even the black callers Stephen A. Smith!
The shirts are funny, and I'm thinking about getting one. All of them are great, but the Big Ben shirt is priceless.
And how am I just finding out about Delonte West fucking Lebron's mom? How did she not know that Delonte has herpes? Any 10 year old with a basketball card knows that.

Funny thing too is Lebron's mom looks like a 50 year old Lebron with a wig
Competitive Not Dying
Finalist dies at world sauna championships

Finnish event sees competitors attempting to withstand rising temperatures
Russian finalist Vladimir Ladyzhenskiy died after Saturday's final
His opponent, Finland's Timo Kaukonen, was taken to hospital
Police are investigating incident but "rules were followed," organizers say
(CNN) -- A competitor has died and another is in hospital following a tragic end to the World Sauna Championships in southern Finland.
Russian Vladimir Ladyzhenskiy died Saturday after taking part in the final of a competition in which contestants are required to withstand rising temperatures for as long as possible.
Finnish finalist Timo Kaukonen was also taken to hospital for treatment, organizer Ossi Arvela said in a statement posted on the event's website.
Images of the contest showed Ladyzhenskiy and Kaukonen sitting side by side in the sauna. Both contestants can then be seen lying on the ground, apparently doused in water. Ladyzhenskiy appears to be suffering from severe skin burns.
"The event was interrupted immediately after the accident. Competition organization grieves these sad events," Avela said.
Finnish police and organizers are investigating the incident, Arvela said. But he said first aid personnel had been in place and all competitors taking part in the contest had provided doctor's certificates. "All the rules were followed," he said.
The World Sauna Championships take place annually in the town of Heinola.
You never wanna find out that someone died, but that competition is just stupid. Like Pain Olympics stupid. I'm really surprised that nobody has died before...which is good.
I thought that someone might pop this thread up for the epic conclusion to the PGA Championship! Anyone else watch. It was crushing to see that happen to Johnson, particularly after watching him birdie 17 in clutch form to take the lead. I guess if the players were warned, they were warned, but you still hate to see it go down that way. Great finish to an overlooked major.
Check out this golf course, especially the 19th hole.

Not saying Rory is gonna win 14 majors, so I wont call him Tiger, but he's the real deal and the golfer to be reckoned with for the next....long time.

I'm no fan of the ignorant hick, but Bubba Watson's Masters win was impressive.

Id be watching if it was free. Dont think id ever be able to bring myself to pay for a MMA PPV. That said, if I cared enough I could probably track down a free stream but theyre typically so frustrating to deal with/find/re-find that for me at least it aint worth the hustle.

I'm not sure that's what he's asking. And the answer is no.

Ronda is pretty, but at times, a little too manly for my tastes.
Also, does anyone on the forum regularly keep up with MMA? I'd like to make some fight predictions before some of the larger events similar to how we do with the other sports.

Thats basically what I created this thread for, the sports that dont get as much attention.
Although I think there is a betting thread, but maybe Im mistaken. That might work as well.

Word! This Masters definitely has more excitement around it than any tournament in a while, for obivous reasons. I know it's just one round down, but damn this thing has the potential to be pretty magical.

The Masters is by far my favorite golf event to watch. Something about the beauty that is Augusta! I think High Def TV's were made for watching the Masters!
Well, Im guessing Lefty is doing just what he said, attacking the course. His scorecard looks like Fowler's yesterday, except more overs than unders at this point. 8 bogeys (including a double just now), 6 of which are on par 5's. Driver must be failing him today. He also has 6 birds though. Crazy.
Dustin Johnson killing it.
Man, Tiger really got hosed with those penalty strokes for his ball drop, not to mention he only went in the water because he hit the pin on a shot that wouldve probably given him a 5 footer or closer. Basically a 4 stroke penalty. Hope he gets himself within a couple strokes of the lead today.

How'd he get hosed? Yeah the pin was unlucky but so what. He knew the rules and didn't follow them. At least he's still playing.
Go Duffman!

Did he? I thought I read the rule changed just this year where youre supposed to drop as close to where your last shot was, and cant drop behind it. Seems to me he didnt know the rule or forgot it was changed.
His chances are pretty slim now but if Snedeker or Cabrera falter its wide open. Had he not hit the pin, he would in all likelihood be tied for the lead right now. That 360 lip out early on a 2 footer didnt help his cause either.
Expected Day to win based on how all the leaders were playing on the back 9, but was rooting for Scott over Cabrera because 1) felt bad how the US Open slipped away from him last year 2) So I never have to hear how an Aussie has never won the Masters, ever again. What a clutch putt for him to get the lead on 18, and what a shot by Cabrera to get it so close for the easy putt to force the playoff. Ironic to see the guy who is a poor putter, miss pretty much everything down the stretch, hit 2 huge putts in his last 3 holes.
