Cant say how much I love this show, but if Mad Men has its own thread, I think this comedy deserves its own
I know theres a lot of Arrested Development fans here, but im not sure about IASIP..I think if you like AD, Seinfeld, Curb, or similar shows, IASIPhilly is cant miss
Last season did seem a little hit or miss to me compared to basically every episode in the previous few season being hilarious, but I have a feeling theyre back with another consistent season (getting Danny Devito on the show might as been the smartest move ever - I think its his personally best work)
As far as LOL funny shows, I think this takes the cake. To me, Curb Your Enthusiasm is pretty darn close, but some of the stuff on this show is just so out on a limb/out of nowhere and just downn right offensive you cant help but laugh
Anyone else down with Always Sunny?!?
HELL YES!! been a BIG fan from the beginning. Loved tonight's episodes, the oil one was a classic... I agree with all your show comparisons, especially A.D. which should have run on FX. Maybe it would have lasted.
"WILD CARD BITCHES"...
Last night's were pretty damn funny
LOVE THIS SHOW, NOTHING BETTER ON TV
fuck yeah
im a fan. for sure. ive been watching it since it was first aired a few years ago.
Some of the previews for this seasson look great, especially Sweet Dee's girl's night out episode

"The name's Artemis...I have a bleached asshole."
I nearly spit my drink all over my computer.
"Nah, Dee. You just have to huff glue, chug a beer and then eat some cat food. It makes you feel kind of sick to where you need to lie down and go to sleep. That's how you've gotta do it."
Great episode!

definitely the funniest scene----i am hooked on this show thanks to bold99 always talking about it--..i am still partial to the poop episode :D
"I don't know what happened, first I was angry, then I was drinking, then i'm following this guy to his apt and forcing him into the trunk of his own car" - Charlie Day-
Paddy's Pub: The Worse Bar In Philadelphis....awesome episode.
"If I was going to break the window Charlie, I'd obviously do it with a roundhouse kick" -Mac-
Bump because it is thurs and a new episode is on tonight...I don't know if there is any show I get more excited for.
"and if i were you d, i'd start wolfing that shit down, cuz you have no idea how loud 50 cats can be" ;)
Oh man last night was hilarious! Charlie in the mailroom killed me.

that line was great! Sick outfits...lol.
I loved when they were in the hospital and Dee is in bed asking for help and they are like "let's focus on what is important here, which is us". haha.
do we live in a socialistic country or a communist dictatorship!?
you don't even have to pay us! we're in it for the health insurance.
The mail doesn't stop, bro!
the best is when Charlie says he forwarded mail to himself to "buy a few days" lol.
This resume is for both of you?
We thought we'd save paper, go green.
It says here that you take care of business (at Paddys Pub).
TCOB! that's right.
I enjoyed seeing Danny DeVito pulling tubes...
You guys should go find the youtube video of "Danny's Sex Tape" it is a skit they did...Mac tells Charlie that it is in Danny contract that they each has to perform oral on him. Fred Savage is in it too. Funny stuff.

Sweet Dee: Where were you when I was in high school?
Trey: I was eight.

Dee to Dennis
"Your not gay, your just really, really vain"
Dee to spin instructor: Enjoy, Coach Dick & Balls!
"Since when do you have to pay to stay in a hospital, do you have to pay a fireman to put out a fire, a cop to shot a guy?"
Spin instructor: and you shouldn't even be taking this class-you just had a heart attack
Sweet D: well maybe you shouldn't have come out of the house dressed like a bumble bee a**hole!
Dennis: oh BURN!!
McPoyle Brother- Prison could be a very bad place for a guy like you Charlie....
Charlie- Oh S##t
Other Mcpoyle brother- A VERY BAD PLACE....
the best part of that episode is the intervention with the creepy relative
Mom: show us where he touched you Charlie
creepy relative: do it, do it nice and slow.
Lol.

My favorite part of that episode is the opening when Mac talks about breaking Tom Brady's leg
"we just go down there and intimadate him, no more superbowls for that pretty boy"
Tonights episode looks like a riot!
I'm excited! 18th century themed?
QuoteI'm excited! 18th century themed?
Yeah...when I first watched it I didn't think it was that funny....upon further review and another viewing oh man it was hilarious. For some reason I need to watch that show a few times to pick up on everything but when Mac and Dennis go see Cricket and they are tooling on Dee for being a witch and telling Cricket that he doesnt need to court Dee, that it is 1776 and you can just "grab" women and do whatever you want to them...I was dying. Also hilarious is when Charlie and Frank are shooting each other.

oh man I can't tell you how many times I've re watched these episodes on demand, dvdr and dvd. I just watched the "Gang gives back" from season 2. So funny. the Waitress offers to be charlies sponsor at AA and she hands him her phone number and he looks at and and is like "wow, I was so close" lol.
Extreme Home Makeover theme tonight...can't wait!
how did you get that cool fray? you bought your shorts like that, whereas i bought jeans and cut them off, it's all about restriction of movement lol....
"See how I have all these sweet pictures of Ty Pennington, i'm going to be like this guy" - Charlie...lol.
"She can be the ground meat in the middle"- can't belive that next week is the end of the season :'(
Can't wait for Charlie's "musical tonight" night/day man again!!!

Seeing this thread made me think it was back on. But yeah, I don't know when it starts. I'd guess the fall.
It made me think that too. :(
So sorry for the tease...I've been hoping for the new season and was hoping for some insight. I did some minor interweb searching and didn't find anything. I didn't really work too hard on it tho.
the last season started in september so i'm thinking it will be a whole year before season 5 starts
oh. I guess I didn't realize it was so close in the past. :-[
I'll get my patience in order. :)
Its a great show. Its hilarious to see Danny Divito in a sitcom that's so out there at times.

the road trip episode was one of the best ever. My friends and I have been quoting it all week. Bozo!
Mac: I'm covered in piss!
Dee: (drunk) Well, maybe you shouldn't have had your window down.
Mac: Maybe you shouldn't be throwing jars of pee out the window.
Dee: Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn't--it's up for debate.
I missed the first one, but caught the road trip one. Awesome.
Haggling prices for fruit ;D
As soon as a Soul Asylum album was purchased, I knew Runaway Train was going to make an appearance. Even though I knew it was coming, I still couldnt stop laughing.

Welcome to the club!!! Great episode again last night! "Uncle Jack" was back & D&B Steaks!!!!
how funny was Charlie trying to claim the bar was "going Green" last episode...Mac is like that is the complete opposite of going green charlie.
I also loved the Dave and Buster's tie in...

My favorites right now are "The Gang Goes Jihad" ("We will crush you with our weapons!"), "Dennis and Dee Get a New Father" (actually mostly for Mac and Charlie's storyline), "The Gang Gets Invincible" (Frank on acid is classic), "Dennis and Dee's Mom is Dead" (Ernesto is the man), "Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarted Person" (for the Nightman song, which is probably the single funniest thing they've ever done), "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life" (for the scenes of Dennis in the hospital with Sinbad and Rob Thomas) and "The Nightman Cometh" ("You gotta pay the troll toll if you wanna get into that boy's hole"). It's just really creative, perfectly executed stuff. Nobody has better comedic timing than these guys. It's absurd how well they work together.

if you are a fan getting the DVD's is a requirement. I watch them over and over...especially Season 4 because the extras has their live performance when they did the musical in LA..it is worth the price of the DVD alone.

Wow, I need to see that. Guess I'm gonna start buying the DVDs. . . I'm just so used to South Park where they simultaneously put all their shows online for free and release DVDs with NO bonus features. I'm mean, what's the point? But it sounds like these definitely have a point.
finally watched episodes 1 and 2...i wasn't too impressed w/#1 but #2 was pretty classic. "the gang hits the road" think i am still 1 episode behind. i love the shout out to soul asylum. LOL

when he said milksteak the first time I nearly pissed my pants.
I fought this show for so long and I don't know why. It's really my exact sense of humor. I think Charlie's progressive illiteracy is one of the best running jokes in any TV series. It started out with him just being borderline illiterate/dyslexic in Season 2 to full on illiterate this season.
artemis: ew....i feel so powerful, like a cobb salad....
chode---the funniest thing w/charlie's illiteracy, watch the episode where they solve the gas crisis, when they set up a stand to sell on the street? they don't focus in on it much, but notice the sign charlie makes, i had to keep rewinding it....."unled'dd' 'gass" just try to read all the words. i had tears in my eyes.
Pretty good episode last night. I wasn't huge on the main Dee story, but the subsidiary stuff was great. Frank and Artemis had hands down the funniest dating relationship they've ever shown and "I'm a full on rapist" was one of the best lines in the history of the show. I also loved the ending. The last shot was hilarious.

I actually saw that before I knew of the illiteracy story arc (Hulu has a real bad selection of back episodes). I did enjoy the lines:
"we're going to hit you where it hurts"
"YOUR DICK"
"What? No!"
I also hated the ending just because I wanted to watch what happened.
so glad they are showing only 1 episode, plus a rerun, instead of the 2-a nights they did before.
glen posted on twitter that they cut out a line explaining milk steak, it's steak boiled in milk and honey ;D
Starting to get hooked on this show too. I like that they're showing reruns after so I can get caught up a little.

Great one last night. Rowdy Roddy Piper completely nailed it. Plus Frank eating trash was great. And I loved it when Dee completely blew off the soldier and Frank did that little victorious laugh and started randomly playing "Kiss From a Rose" on the boombox, followed by that hilariously uncomfortable salute.
"That's just a bucket of chestnuts!"
"I love you too man! Poor guy. . . "
"I don't love him. I don't love him at all."
I am just now starting this with a loan of season 1 and 2 from a friend. WTF took me so long?! This show is hilarious! Almost fell out of my chair last evening when the Mom took the babydoll over to Charlie for him to show where the gym teacher had touched him...the sicko uncle's excitement over the doll itself was so unforeseen...

Totally! Danny Devito in a singlet is horrifying yet hilarious all at the same time.
Yes! I was struggling for a Halloween costume, then I thought "Maybe I'll just go as Garbageman?" Then I realized I would probably actually have to eat garbage to make it work...I was late to the party on this show as well. I still haven't seen most of the first 3 seasons, just an episode here and there. I've been religiously watching this season though. Nice use of jorts in this episode. I honestly thought the whole "jorts" thing was just kind of an inside joke with my buds...we have a giant friend that pretty much exclusively wears jorts all year, even during winter, and the biggest jorts you've ever seen, no less...never realized that jorts are universally mocked. Good to know.

So how're we feeling about this new one? My guess from the lack of response is probably that you agree with me: it's not that great, at least compared to the rest of this season. For me the best moments were Charlie's kitten mittens commercial and the throwbacks to Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire. I laughed a few times, but not nearly as much as when I watched "The Gang Wrestles for the Troops" for the first time. Anyway, I just got finished watching Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person. That one always makes me laugh a lot and this time was no exception. Seriously, is it even possible to come up with a funnier bit than the Nightman song?
Mac and Dennis Break Up = worst episode ever. Even worse than The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell. It's still better than anything else on TV though.
It was ok, I thought. I laughed when mac was cleaning up and Charlie was bitching. "I love the trash.." ;D

I liked it at the very beginning when Dee says "I didn't begin a transformation!" as she's failing miserably to convince them that she's not becoming a crazy cat lady.
I liked it. It seemed shorter to me though. Problem is this season had two unreal episodes that sort of outshine everything else. I thought it was better than the Kittens Mittens episode. Dennis being unable to do shit for himself while Mac's dumb theories prevail over him and Frank is great.

Well, The Waitress is Getting Married is definitely one of those, right? What's the other one? The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention and The Gang Hits the Road come to mind. . .

Yes, the Waitress, and the Intervention. The Gang Hits the Road was this season? I have a messed up sense of time. But that makes sense, since it's not on the DVD.
The Dayman Cometh convinced me of the show's awesomeness and in the past 10 days I've now seen every single episode.

:) :) :) :) :) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
(Lethal Weapon lol, can't wait)
So we know that there's an episode where Dee is actually pregnant. There's a revival of Dayman/Nightman. There's McPoyles. I can only hope there is ample illiteracy and a return of the snail

i'm most looking forward to charlie's illiteracy and anything involving Dee's pregnancy and Dennis and Mac's comments regarding the father.

I feel like this pregnancy will be the best thing to happen to the show. I can't imagine what they're going to do with it, but I feel like there will be attempted abortions through falcon punches

I've been meaning to check out this show for a very long time. Ever since my sis sent me a youtube video of KITTEN MITTENS.
I was definately sold on that it's just this small thing called work that always gets in the way....sigh.
Dear Coors,
You've managed to ruin beer. Please leave the only thing I look forward to on TV alone.
Thanks,
- Choder

yeah I found that pretty awkward as well.
It felt like when the part in Wayne's World when Noah's Acrade becomes the sponsor
The episode was great otherwise
we're already good friends, now we can be friends with benefits.
you were with her when she still had a dick, so that makes you gay.
I didn't think it was that great. I only really laughed twice, when Dennis was talking to that girl about her dads suicide, and when frank said her breath smelled like she was eating tiny pieces of shit. ;D

I was dissappointed in seasons 4 & 5 and mildly dissappointed last night. It's still funny but nothing compared to Seasons 1-3.
My favorite episode ever is "Underage Drinking" (the prom ep)..
Come on, last season had some definite classics.
I find that any episode that zeros in on one character typically isn't as good as when it's a group effort.
I thought last season was pretty hit or miss, probably better than season 4, but there were some clunkers.
I enjoyed the 5 episodes of The League after the pilot more than almost all of the Sunny episodes
