Jim was on XPN in Philadelphia this morning discussing Record Store Day. He said MMJ are currently taking a break from shows. He also mentioned recording had just finished on the Monsters of Folk album and that it shoud be out sometime in September with October shows to follow.

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE
nice. figured they wouldn't play soon since patrick is off w/ dan auerbach. i thought jim might be the opener for the eddie vedder solo tour but that went to liam finn. can't wait for MOF!
did he mention how many of the records were pressed for record store day?
My birthday is in October. Huzzah!
This is great news -- thank you for sharing.
Maybe he will be at record store day in Louis. since the record is from the city and all.
other than college football, this just gave my fall a HUGE boost :-)
Quotedid he mention how many of the records were pressed for record store day?
They did discuss vinyl in general, but not how many records were pressed for Record Store Day. He mentioned some vinyl he just purchased:
Bobby Womack - Across 110th Street Soundtrack
Aretha Franklin - Amazing Grace
Jiminy Crickey: Multiplication and Division
A banjo album and some others I am blanking on right now
He said he has a bunch of old vinyls that went through a flood, but it doesn't matter that they are a little dinged up. It's not always about the sound, but just being home and relaxing with a record. He said his AC/DC Highway to Hell still has some sewage on it, but it's alright because it sounds even filthier now.
Did anyone else catch the interview?
I usually listen to XPN on the way to work. dang. missed it.

It was via telephone so he could have been anywere in the cosmos. He did say Omaha was where he picked up the records, so I assume they recorded MOF there.
I was under the impression they recorded MOF in Nashville.
Nice...I'm going to cross my fingers for an ACL appearance!
October??? Yay!
Awesome. I thought I was going to have to wait until 2010. Going to shows is kind of difficult for me since I don't have a car but if they play Chicago or Detroit, I'll be there.
