Title: Pearl Jam Festival- Maybe with MMJ?

Exclusive Details On Pearl Jam's 20th Anniversary Blowout
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/exclusive-details-on-pearl-jams-20th-anniversary-blowout-20110120 (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/exclusive-details-on-pearl-jams-20th-anniversary-blowout-20110120)

Around the time that Crowe's movie opens in late summer, Pearl Jam are planning a massive "weekend bash," as Curtis calls it, somewhere in the middle of the country. Details are still being worked out, but it will probably be a two-day event involving multiple bands and Pearl Jam headlining both nights. "We've played enough festivals that we know what makes them exciting," says Ament. "We want to give people places to go that aren't necessarily musical – second stages and all that kind of stuff. We're asking our friends if they want to play a couple of shows with us."

I think MMJ are friends. This fest will sell out to Ten Club members alone

I definitely have a feeling MMJ is gonna be involved with this "bash". When I first saw this article, I instantly thought of them. Probably going to be a ton of great acts at this thing, wherever it is.

Looks like 10c will announce Monday that the PJ20 shows are at Alpine Valley on Labor Day weekend or the weekend before, then a tour in Canada. I'll be attending at least 4 shows  with or without MMJ

If PJ20 is the weekend before labor day I'll kill myself. That's my sisters wedding weekend.

Ben Harper will be in Vegas on Saturday night (9/3), and California on Sunday.  Not sure if PJ20 will be 2 or 3 days, but there's a good chance Ben doesn't make it.

Rumors had Neil Young, Soundgarden, Liam Finn, and the Strokes.  I'm sure there will be more.

The time is upon us. I've been reading the thread on the PJ forum, and apline valley doesn't sound like a good place for it at all. I'm hoping for somewhere bigger and with more camping. plus someone said that they can't play loudly past 11pm at Alpine? I don't know. I really hope its Labor Day weekend. tomorrow could make or break my mood for a while. Missing t5 due to obligations was hard enough, I don't want to relive that.

I have been wondering about the prospect of MMJ being at the PJ20 festival as well and was going to pose that question but you beat me to it.  As a huge PJ and MMJ fan, I would lose my mind if MMJ was going to be there.  MMJ doesnt have their tour information go beyond labor day weekend so who knows.  They have played on stage together before (and it's featured on "Imagine in Cornice" dvd).  I think it is certainly feasible to say that MMJ could be there.

This fest will sell out to Ten Club members alone

I plan to be going regardless of whether MMJ is going to be there or not but this reminds me I better sign back up for ten club. I am hoping for some good news this week from the Pearl Jam camp.  We will see!

Im there with you on the missing of T5.  I am praying for tickets for the PJ20 and hope they have an awesome lineup for the fest (especially if they can have MMj in that lineup).

Question for Ten Club members here -- if I signed up a few years ago, let my membership expire, and now signed up again, would I be back at the very bottom of seniority?

Sadly yes.  Or atleast that is my understanding of it.  And if you haven't signed up by 12 AM PST yesterday then you won't get to take advantage of presales with the upcoming tour/festival when tickets do get released.

I am with you on that.  I am a huge PJ fan but wish they had a slightly better supporting bands surrounding the festival.  Oh well, I'll be there.  Were you able to get the www.pj20.com (http://www.pj20.com) link to come up?  It asked me for a user name and password and when I used my ten club membership information, it didn't accept it.  Did you have luck?

It asked for that wordpress username for me for awhile too, but I finally got it. Sometimes it'll load, others it won't. I plan on being there too, but I thought we would definitely get Soundgarden and some PJ side projects. I could probably watch the Strokes and enjoy their show, and maybe even the queens, but I'll be going exclusively for Pearl Jam

Yeah, Soundgarden I thought was for sure going to evidently not.  I'll definitely check out The Strokes and Queens of the Stone Age but my main interest is PJ.  MMJ or Band of Horses would have made it 10 times better.  Do you know the prices of the tickets for the weekend through the Ten Club?  I can't seem to find that information.

My brother email the PJ Ten Club and they said "We are still finalizing the ticket prices for those ticket options. We will post them on http://www.PJ20.com (http://www.pj20.com) once that info is finalized.

Best,
10c

So I guess here in the next week we will find out more about the cost of the festival.  The travel packages are steep.  Might be sleeping in my car.  Get liqoured up enough then I won't be able to tell a difference.

Ten Club Pre-sale tickets available as two options

Reserved/GA Weekend Package- A Pair of Reserved Seats for one night and a Pair of GA tickets for the other night. $334/weekend

General Admission Weekend Package- A Pair of GA lawn seats for both nights. $252/weekend.

They also have some travel packages up on PJ20.com

I'm as big a PJ fan as they come, but sadly, I can't make this trip.  Too far for me to travel for one, plus the line-up is not totally inspiring.  QOTSA are great, but I just saw them a month or so ago.

I've got 2 MMJ shows lined up in August, and seeing Eddie Vedder solo next month.  Was really hoping for some PJ shows in the northeast, but they are saying that these are the only US shows this year.  :(

Lets hope MMJ makes it to alpine labor day weekend. Seriously Patrick, DO IT! No "if" "and" or "buts"! Make it happen for the PJ community.... too good to be true, i know... but still had to make an attempt.

I mean, MMJ doesnt have anything scheduled for that weekend up to this point.  Im praying they decide to go.  But an issue I see is that since tickets are somewhat cheap, I dont know how they could afford to add more acts to the band list.  Hopefully I am wrong about that though.

Well, I signed up for 10C a few hours past the deadline for the Canadian tour, so looks like I won't be getting in on that. Figured it was a waste to post this on the PJ forums, so I'm wondering if any MMJ fans could help me out -- would any 10C member who isn't going to indulge in the Canadian tour be kind enough to pick me up a pre-sale pair for one of the Toronto shows? I would definitely pre-pay and send a little something extra your way for the huge favor. I just don't want to be shut out again like I was when they played the Amphitheater a few years ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much either way.

I can definitely do that, though I don't know how 10 club works. are they hard tickets? do you have to have an ID? I'll get em if its possible. Whens the presale, gotta make sure I wont be in hangout.

My understanding is that you do have to have an ID available when you show up for Will Call to pick the tickets up.  Not sure how that would work out.

Maybe you can find some through StubHub at a reasonable price.  Maybe your best bet is finding a friend that you know is going that has Ten Club and see if you can go with them or something.  Good luck!  Hope you work it all out.

For everyone that's going to the PJ20 festival, where is everyone staying?  Just curious as to if anyone found any good deals.  I think we are planning to stay at the campground in the link below:

http://www.countryviewcamp.com/rules.html (http://www.countryviewcamp.com/rules.html)

Some 10 Club fans are looking to getting a group together to get a shuttle that will take us to the event.  It's only 12 miles from the venue.  Just curious as to if anyone found any good deals.   Every hotel around the area is pretty expensive or is already booked up.

It took me three solid hours (and a decent case of carpal tunnel) but I was able to get the 1 reserved/1 GA package.   With as messed up as the website was, there was no way I was trying for a travel package.  I'll make my own hotel reservations.

Today was a good day - PJ tix and my passport came in the mail so I'll be able to go to the MMJ Vancouver show next month!  Yay!

Yay! Congrats!  To those who have not yet purchased tickets, don't give up.  According to PJ20.com, "The good news is, there are PLENTY of tickets still available."  So go back tomorrow for further information.

For those that have not yet booked hotel packages, there is a campground that a large number of PJ fans are looking to stay at.  There has been a shuttle that is going to take us to and from the event.  Will be a little cluster of die-hard PJ fans and a little taste of Bonnaroo (with the exception that this place has bathrooms, water, electricity, and a pool).  The link is below for the campground.

http://www.countryviewcamp.com/ (http://www.countryviewcamp.com/)

There has also been a facebook group created for fellow PJ campground stayers below:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php# (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#)!/pages/PJ20-Country-View-Campgrounds/124680177611850?sk=info

I would not hesitate too long before making a reservation as they are filling the place up quickly.  Good luck to all and hope to see you all there!!

Took me 5 hours yesterday, but I got my tickets. What an ordeal! Now we know why Ticketmaster has "convenience charges". So much irony.

I'm sort of hoping for the lawn the first day, so we can take it all in, then the next day we can hang in the parking lot and go in for PJ and QOFTSA if we liked them the night before. Either way will be cool. I'm also thinking of trying to get seats for the day I have lawn at the TM sale.

I don't know if MMJ will be a surprise guest, but maybe Jim?

God I hope so.  That would be unreal if they could make an appearance.  I'd be flippin out.  It's still a long ways away and MMJ hasnt made any plans for that weekend so it's still up in the air.

How does he know where he will be sitting?  It's based off seniority of having a ten club membership.  How long has he been in the ten club?

93 or 94, I think he lost his original # once but in 96 they allowed him to get his old # back, lucky bastard. # 70xxx , He has only sat in 8th row once, all others  shows closer. They only recently started the lottery, which moved him back 2 rows now.

I think that's a good estimate. I'm 159xxx (since '95)and figure I'll be 10-15th row, but hard to say.

As to the line-up being set, I agree that minimizes the chance of a full MMJ appearance, but I'm hoping for high profile friends to appear with PJ on stage for a song or two each, similar to the Last Waltz, which Eddie has referenced.  The remoteness of Alpine Valley (compared to SF for Last Waltz) mitigates against this though.

I'm trying to plan this shit out. seems like its going to entail a lot. there really isn't any close hotels are there? I'm going to have to get a bus pass or drive in every day. what's everyone else doing? I'm confused.

I bought the shuttle pass both days from the Milwaukie location.  I figured there'd be better hotel selection in the city and I plan on enjoying many adult beverages at the show (it's going to be hot and humid!) and I don't want to drive.  I've done concert shuttles before (Rush!) and they are funfunfun!

As posted before, me and a large group of PJ fanatics are staying in a campground 15 minutes from the venue.  Cost of the campground per day is like $25.  Cost of the shuttle per person is $10.  Brings a Roo-esc approach to the festival into the experience.

I am still hoping like hell that MMJ decides to go to the PJ20 festival.  They don't have to play both nights like all the other bands are doing but one night would be freaking stellar.  Looking through the "how you got hooked to MMJ?" forum, seems like an awfully lot of fans originating by watching MMJ open for PJ back in 2006.  Just makes sense that they would play at this festival where the fans for PJ have already found acceptance for the MMJ sound.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE play at this festival MMJ!!  They dont have anything scheduled for that weekend just yet so I am holding out for hope on this one.
