Whos going? Where are your seats?
I logged on the presale as soon as it was available and only managed Left Center Row 7. The presale pretty much sold out instantly, I was surprised.
I am way too excited for this show because I have only seen MMJ once and that was at a 45 minute set at Pemberton Festival which we all know is about 2 hours too short.
I am also seeing Black Keys with Cage the Elephant 2 nights before this show, what a week its going to be!
Somehow managed to pull left center row 3...stoked!
SO AMPED
I pulled front row LC. My other friend grabbed 9th row.
I got Black Keys on Monday, MMJ Portland Tuesday then Van on Wed. Gonna be a great time.
There is another presale on Friday at 10AM through Live Nation
Wow third row and first row! You guys sure are lucky. I am not going to complain about 7th row however. I would pay anything just to sit last row to see these guys. This summer is going to be amazing!
I should be going and did try to get tickets through the presale. I managed a LC 5th row pretty much dead center but didn't buy it as I'll be recording too and this isn't an ideal spot for a taper. I'm hoping to nail down a ticket front row, dead center (DFC) of the dress circle. I've had some great success from recording at that spot in that venue before. I too saw them at Pemberton (recording found here http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=541602 (http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=541602)) and agree that the show was wayyyy too short.
On another note, I waited too long for the Black Keys/Cage the Elephant tickets and somehow they sold out? Anyone know where I can get a cheap one?
^ I am downloading your footage of MMJ at Pemby right now. I still might have to admit that it was my favourite show at the festival even though Tom Petty and Coldplay were pretty sick as well and they were headliners. I just love MMJ and cant get enough of them.
What other shows do you have footage of? MMJ or not.
And thats too bad you couldnt get tickets to Black Keys. I dont see it being easy to get cheap tickets anywhere, I would assume constantly checking craigslist would be your best bet. Youve gotta get tickets though! That week is going to be amazing now. Black Keys at Deer Lake park is hard to beat. Obviously MMJ takes the cake tho. I was scared when I first saw June 29 for MMJ's date, I quickly ran to check my Keys tickets to make sure it wasnt the same night! I would have had to sell my Keys tickets and that would have been devistating because I've never seen them!
Hey excel,
First off, just to be clear, it's not footage...I'm a taper so it's only the audio. Pemby was my first time ever seeing MMJ and it was love at first site! I captured a total of 11 shows at Pemby including Tom Petty & Coldplay, Tragically Hip, NIN, Flaming Lips, Wolfmother and more. I released a box set of all of my recordings from Pemby a couple of years ago so all the shows are available. I've recently been releasing all the shows singly.
You said:
>What other shows do you have footage of? MMJ or not.
I can't really give you a list of *all* of the shows I've recorded because they number in the hundreds and most of them are not mastered. In 2010 alone, I went to 289 shows! I'm pretty active on Dime, TTD & other music trading sites and am constantly releasing depending on how fast I can get things mastered - that's where my bottleneck is. I'm always looking for someone to either do mastering or cover-making, btw. ;)
As for the Black Keys/CTE, I was an idiot. I had the presale code 4 or 5 days before the tickets went on sale but didn't buy one...kept waiting. Then they went on sale and I wasn't in a rush to get them...not because I wasn't excited about going but because it never occurred to me that an outdoor general admission show would ever sell out so long before the date. I'm still sure they'll open up more tickets for sale one of these days so I'm keeping an eye out.
Peace,
S
I realized that it was just audio once downloaded, sounded great however and brought back really good memories so thanks! Ill be sure to try and check out some of your other recordings.
Hope you get your hand on some Keys tickets!
I pulled 3rd row LC for this one! Am so stoked to see these guys again....also doing the seattle show on the sunday prior.
ENJOY!
Wish I could say I'll be seeing you all there ( I live in Calgary) but my spring semester doesn't end until the 30th. Pemberton was my first MMJ show but not my introduction to them. We were so jacked after Pemberton that we ordered tickets to shows in Seattle and Portland that took place in sept 2008. Now every tour we take off to the states to see whatever we can for shows. Looks like Red Rocks for us this summer. Oh, and Bonnaroo!

my avatar is from the seattle 2008 show, front row! amazing night.....was at the portland show too....
Im soooo happy this announcement came this week.
any livenation presale code?
There was presale code was "concert" but the only tickets you could pull were Dress Circle (balcony) so I passed.
Don't get me wrong the Balcony is sweet at the Orpheum but I was just hoping to get my friend one closer to the stage on the floor
i got a single front row of the balcony for a buddy in the presale, but will try tomorrow for something better for myself and friends....good luck all!
Pulled some 4th row LC for my buddy today. Can't complain!
To those who have been to the Orpheum, how is the venue? I pulled tickets for row 18 on the left side... how is that section?
Also, I've never been to Vancouver and will be there all day before the concert...any recommendations on places to eat before the show?
Row 18 is decent. The venue is beautiful. Very Old Theatre
You can take a sweet ass virtual tour, here

Nice, hey?
There are a lot of places on Granville street to eat, pub and bar food type stuff. For restaurants a little further away from the venue, there are many.....I'm sure when you are walking around during the day you will see one you like....

Where are you coming from? Just wondering.
Just out of curiousity has MMJ ever even played in Vancouver before? If so when and where? Who did they open for or was it their show?

I only know of one show they have played here, it was Richards on Richards in 2003. I don't know who the opener was. I did not attend, but know people who did. I will check the concert archive and get back to you.
2002-10-04 Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, Canada
2003-05-23 Richard's on Richards - Vancouver, Canada
2003-07-16 Plaza of Nations - Vancouver, Canada
2003-10-08 Richards on Richards - Vancouver, Canada
2004-05-13 Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, Canada
2004-10-19 Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, Canada
2005-11-03 Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, Canada
So, holy shit, the have played here quite a bit back in the day!!!! But haven't played here proper in almost 6 years, other than Pemberton.

Nailed a ticket in the front row of the dress circle. I'll be taping; feel free to come say hi or give me blocking before the show starts but please no drunken antics near my mics! ;) Anyone else expecting to tape that night? I went to 2 of the 3 Hip shows in 2009 and got excellent captures so I expect a great capture of this show too.

Godspeed, Seth! Don't forget to post the finished product.
Thanks for the info on all the shows they have played here. I can't believe I missed them playing in small venues like Richards on Richards. I actually only found out about them because of Pemberton. So thank god they came to that because otherwise it may have even taken longer to find one of my favourite bands.

Thats awesome that your coming all the way from Louisville. True local fan! Thats what it all about. Hope you enjoy your time here. Which will go without question of course.

Holy shitballs! I was front row at MaCaw Hall as well. Front and dead centre! Where abouts were you? You couldn't have been far from me judging by those pics. As far as the 2 nights go Portland was better I thought. Just a better crowd that was really into it. We were front row for that as well but left at the beginning of Dondante because of the potential of ruptured bladders. LOL
We got 7th row in the presale - and I'm quite happy with those tix!

I hope to hang out with some people before the show, never been to a MMJ event and I'm coming up from the states. I think I got Seth01's original seat; fifth row dead center after trying to log into pre-sale for an hour- not too shabby :) Will there be an easy way to recognize folks in the pub? Unfortunately I don't own any MMJ tshirts or other merchandise, yet.
I'm very excited! We're starting to plan our trip for this and the Portland show. First step - renew passport! I haven't been to Vancouver in ages - every time I've been was to see Pearl Jam. I kinda feel like I'm cheating on them with MMJ. ???
we will touch base a week or so before the show to see if more people are interested in hanging at the pub...keep checking back in june!
Thought I would bump the thread here, and give everyone the option to have a little meet and drink with some MMJ board members. As mentioned, I am going with a few people already and after I get the tickets from the box office, I will be there...come say hi.
Here are the directions. 4 minute walk from the Orpheum.
Easy enough right? Speaking of the Box office, I would get there early, as not only do the Roll Call people have to pick up tickets (separate window for them?), But the First FIFTEEN rows on ticketmaster were WILL CALL ONLY pick up, so this has the potential to be a shitstorm. It better open early.
Loving Circuital and see you there!
Just talked to a Ticketmaster Rep and in their notes it states that the box office will open 2 hours prior to show. So that is good, but still it is potentially hundreds of people that had no choice but to pick these tickets up at will call. Get there EARLY to avoid any bullshit. I may be over reacting but I have 7 different tickets to pick up on 5 separate orders, from TM and Roll Call, so I'm worried about it.
Thanks for the tip. We'll try to hit the pub before the show. We're driving up that day from Portland which isn't too bad of a drive as long as there isn't a long line at the Peace Arch.
ditto on the tip. its why fan forums rock ! anyone dressing to impress for the show ?

Its a 2min14 sec walk from the venue. there is the map.
Come by! Yes I will dress to impress.
Hey Guys. First time posting here. I'm hitting up the show on Wednesday night. Can't wait. Does anyone know if there's an opener or what time the show starts. I have to work until about 7 out in Burnaby and the ticket says 730 so I'm trying to find out more info.
Opener is a band called Everest. Dont they will probably get on at 8ish. 30 minute intermission, then mmj comes on
Try, at all costs, to get there for Everest's set. Great band. Enjoy!
Ditto - Everest is definitely worth catching. Never heard of them before - now a fan!
Thanks for the info. Will try to check out the opener if I can make it on time.
here we go...
:bath: VANCITY TONIGHT!
Very interested to see how the boys treat Vancouver tonight -- I think this is their first trip to Canada since 2008, right? Should be a good one!
judging by recent events, it had better be an awesome show or there will be a citywide riot afterward.
I always hoped to participate in a post MMJ show riot but only because it was so good. Like Jim said, win or lose, people are going to fucking riot.

great shots!
Okay!!!!!!!!!
Here is the Dondante from Vancouver in Full! It is as epic in the vid as I remember it, minus the camera holders singing in a couple spots, but you can't blame him.
