So I can happily say my lazy butt finally registered on the boards, I have been reading for years but finally I registered!
I've been a huge MMJ fan ever since my friend played "Just One Thing" for me!
I have traveled as much as I can to see MMJ and really as most of you probably experience, this band moves me in a way others can't.
I would love to see alot of you on the board at the Chicago show, I am going to be coming there with about 5 friends.
I got tickets in the Pit RC Row BBB, has anyone had Pit tickets at the Auditorium?
Well this is my big hello to all the Jacket fans!!!

CHIMMJ, nice score!!! There isn't a bad seat in the Auditorium, but yours just might be the best!
Add alady and caseydog to the roll call...we are currently unsure of where our seats are ;D
Also, I'd like to suggest Hackney's for a meet-up spot - unless there are a lot of us, then we may have to move it somewhere bigger.
I'll be there with two friends! Was able to get like 6th row tickets in the orchestra so i'm very excited!
Last time I was at the auditorium theatre I saw Wilco in like 2006 or something. Very cool place
Thanks for welcoming me all! Yeah I'm pretty excited to see MMJ up close!
I've heard great things about the acoustics in the Auditorium.
I'll be working that day but I should be in the city by at least 4pm, definitely using a half day! lol

This will be my first mmj show so im really excited just to have tickets. Im a late bloomer into their music mainly due to the fact that I live in BFE. Anyways I heard them on sirius and have been hooked since. I lurked here to get a feel for the place and this is my kind of fan forum ;D I didn't manage great seats im in the middle balcony but again I'm just happy to actually get tickets.
Awesome! Welcome littleacorn! You couldn't have picked a better place for a first show - the Auditorium is known for having pristine acoustics. Prepare to have your face melted!
littleacorn, my first MMJ show was in Boston and I was so far back, I gave up trying to "see" the boys and just let the music blow me away. It was, at the time, the best live music experience I'd had in a long time, now outdone by other MMJ shows. Sounds like the theater in Chicago is a special place where there will be no bad seat. I wish I could join you. Enjoy your first show and be sure to report back to this thread for a full report. I love hearing folks share their first time. ;)
The first time i saw them was at the Vote For Change Tour in 2004, simply blew me away, the 3 songs they played were better that all of Ben Harpers and Dave Mattews' combined, after seeing them a few times after that, I cannot explain the feeling I get when I see them play live, unlike any other band.
Im gonna be taking my girlfriend who has never seen them. Who ever is in Orchestra R, youll see a grown man cry.

welcome to the camp! you will not be disappointed one bit. not by the music that you'll hear. not by the shows that you'll see. not by the people that you'll meet. there's something really real goin on here. glad you've joined. see you at the show (i'll be in the balcony too)
Count me in! It'll be my fourth show, my first indoors. I really appreciate that the fellas are opening the tour in Chicago, makes my life convenient.
I finally registered after a year of lurking since 2011 seems to be the summer of the Jacket, hooray!

all this virginity to MMJ live makes me real happy to see... i myself get to take my mom to see them at hangout festival on our favorite place in the world (the beach) and i get to watch her understand what i have tried to explain for 7 years...
MMJIndy, crazyness! I missed the presale, then got Upper balcony. Went on 5 min later and scored row D floor (will call only). I can't wait to see them. My first show was at tiny Clowes Hall in Indy, then I saw them at the YUM. These guys rock!
See you all there.
For anyone that has ever been to the Auditorium Theater: which seats would you prefer?
Center Orchestra (main floor) about 8 rows forward from the back row?
Or
Front two seats in a lower level box in just about the middle of the theater?
Once I make up my mind, I may have two seats for sale (face).

Yeah Tater, the Berghoff would've been great. Hackney's does this onion ring thing in a giant brick shape? They're pretty good  But if we've got a big crowd (and it looks like we will) maybe we should start talking about the Bar Louie over there, that's pretty roomy.

Actually, for the time being. Put me down for +3 guests.
I am still trying to decide between the box seats and back of the orchestra level seats for two of them. I am leaning in the direction of the box seats since they are at the front of the box....
If anybody has any input on box vs. non-box at the Auditorium, I sure would appreciate it!

I'm trying to remember how far the first balcony hangs over the orchestra section...if you're under that overhang then I might say go for the box seats. Honestly I think either pair would be pretty good.
Getting excited to see everybody and meet some new folks!
Thanks, alady!
I am going to go with my gut and go with the box seats for my daughter and her husband. That means I may have two extra tickets (face value) if anyone is interested. The only qualification is that there may be some of my son's friends in Ch that want them. In any case, if you know of somebody that might want some decent tickets, let me know.

In +1. Last time they played an indoor venue in Chicago (Chicago Theatre, 08) the shows were great, and I anticipate this will be no exception. And maybe by the time this show happens, the tapes from those shows will finally emerge.

--------------Warning!--------------------
This is very addictive, don't go unless you can afford to go to at least 4 shows a year from now on!
Hey, don't say I didn't warn ya ;)
Starting to think about this already...if anyone is interested in helping to organize some kind of fundraiser at the meet up, let me know. We can't legally do an auction or raffle, but maybe we can just pass the hat or something to raise a little extra money from the fans for Mercy Home. It's a great organization our boys have chosen to help, and I think it would be nice if we gave a little extra back for all that they give to us.
I'm thinking about taking the plunge on this one, but can anyone tell me how a seat near the lip of the dress circle would be?
I know the acoustics are good in there (from reviews), but I'll be making a 10 hr drive so I want to make sure that those seats wouldn't be a disappointment! Any 1st hand experience/advice would be much appreciated. :dankk2:
-ALady, if I do make it up to the show I'd love to contribute whatever I can to the charity! What a great cause...
Dunno if you've already seen this interactive seating chart - I didn't notice it on the Auditorium's main site before...but maybe it is?

It doesn't look like you'll be under the balcony overhang, but honestly I don't remember. You'd be near the front or back of the dress circle?

WHOA! I didn't find that on my first look-see at the site. I'd be towards the front of the dress circle, so I think that'd be mighty fine with me judging by these pics.
Thanks so much! Hopefully the tickets work out, and I'll be able to join the roll call

I'm psyched about getting a G/A show in Milwaukee, followed by a kick ass box seat in Chicago. What an awesome birthday weekend I'm going to have! Back to back nights of MMJ
Dead center Orchestra row F!!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I'm going to swap Wakarusa for Chicago.
ISO a pair if anyone has extras.
I just recieved the tickets I won and I have questions:
Under Section/Aisle it says:RBLCCR and then Row it says:W and it also says "5th Floor - Aisle 3 - Promo"
Should I just ignore the jibberish and think I have seats In row W in the Orchestra? It's confusing my brain.

Hey Windy, Did you win the ticks thru XRT ? If so you may want to contact them because you may have access to more than just your seats, not to get your hopes up or anything like that.

Isn't RBLCCR "Right of Bo, Left of Carl, Center Riser"? So you're sitting on Pat's drum riser! Sweet!
And I checked, as I live vicariously through all who attend shows I cannot, and Eric did win these through XRT, so do tell!
I emailed them earlier this week asking what seats I won, and I received byte tickets before I got the email back. The guy I emaile is on vacation and hes supposed to contact me Monday. I'll let you all know.

I would suggest the South Loop Travelodge or the Congress Hotel. Both are pretty reasonable. Also, there's a hostel on Congress, even closer to the venue if you want super cheap.
glad that question was asked and aswered. I usually stay at the Best Western near the venue when I got to chicago but its a little pricey that time of the year

I am in the same boat- thanks for asking! Although I arrive at 3 pm and leave at 6:30 am the next morning so (seriously) wondering if I need a hotel room!
shit, if you have nothing to do the next day you could just hangout at the airport with some tylenol PM and get a little sleep.
Anyone figure out a pre show gathering spot?
Kasey's Tavern located on Dearborn and Wells in Printers Row is a mere couple blocks away from Auditorium Theater and a fine establishment. 'Oldest' Tavern with a liquor license in the city, a very cool and friendly neighborhood bar. Also Hackney's Burgers right down the street.
Hey Chicago fans,
The June 16th Milwaukee show is ridiculously undersold! There are still pit tix available and a ton of primo seating. I can't figure out why Milwaukee is not buying, but I thought I'd tempt a few Chicago fans into coming up.

Great.... All I needed was one excuse to do the Milwaukee show and now I have it. I can't let those lonely tickets just sit on the shelf like that. :'( ::) ::) ::) (Great... Show number 6. I'm gonna be in the doghouse and the dog's gonna be in my bed. ::) ::)
thanks katydidnt!!!
Pretty sad that MMJ isn't sold out in Milwaukee. The Riverside is a great venue run by amazing people. Trust me. Cheap parking, reasonably priced hotels, excellent food nearby, and good people. I'll be in the pit with ALady and Ms.Yvon. Come join us.
Oh, and btw, cheap beer too. I don't drink, but most people rave about the $3 Tall Boys, $6 jumbo Sierra Nevadas, and other local brews.

I don't have alot of suggestions on the meet up , I get lost once I'm east of RT 59, but I sure do know my way around a corn field ;)

two mo' weeks! i'd like to amend my plus-2 status to plus-6 (i like to roll with an entourage that rivals aretha's in '72). when it came time to pick up the four extra tickets i needed for my friends, i had to do it second-hand, and i almost bought stubschlub seats in jow J(im)J(ames) out of principle, but kobebeef came through in the clutch. we'll be rocking in the rafters in the middle balcony.

I will be there. The wife will be wearing the Roll Call T. My second show in Chicago (I'm from the Detroit area). May have a seat available - row S if anyone is interested.
Hey Chicago show attendees!
I'm meeting with a representative from Mercy Home next week about a possible additional donation from our group. I'm hoping we can nail down some details here about where we might hold a pre-show meetup, and how many people are planning to attend.
While I suppose it would be easiest to just pass the hat and toss in a couple extra bucks for the cause, I thought we could make it a little more interesting. Bake sale? Dunk tank? Well, how about a silent auction?
If folks are interested in donating some MMJ memorabilia, or maybe have a giftcard lying around from Christmas that they haven't used, or anything of interest/value...let me know. I'll start it off by donating this poster:

Very cool idea. I suppose I can donate a Unstaged Poster from the Louisville show, but I'll have to see my gf gave it to one of our friends already. I still vote for Kasey's Tavern in Printer's Row on Dearborn(couple blocks from Auditorium) for possible meet-up, although with work, who knows what time I can get up there.
I have actually done a fundraiser there before - and it's a great bar, though for that group it was a little small. I think it could be just the right size for the MMJ crowd - let's see what our final numbers look like!
Once we hammer out the details, I'll make a Facebook event page. Invite your friends!
And the Unstaged poster would be AWESOME - hope that works out!

Great idea Mags!. I've got that poster and remember that show vividly. I had very good company.
I'm in for a pass the hat or whatever :)
I will donate a poster. ALady why don't you PM me where to mail it? (as I won't be able to make this :'( )
I would be able to donate some moolah, I really don't have anything MMJ I could donate, unless someone wants a Circuital water bottle that smells like Jack Daniels :),
I could donate my Circuital Flag.
Thanks all, for your generosity! This is really cool. We've got a great group of folks here
Do you guys think we've got a market for this stuff? I know I'd pony up for a Circuital flag (or the water bottle, especially if the Jack comes with it ;)). Or are we just going to end up swapping stuff? ;D
I now have to travel from Chicago to the suburbs and pick up a friend at 5pm, so with rush hour traffic I'm not sure what time I'll be able to get there......although I am definitely going to try!
CHIMMJFAN
ALady... I can't make it to the show anymore, but I can send a poster or something - just let me know an address. Also, I'll pay you a donation for that waterfront poster 8)
(I also may have 2 extra tickets, if you have any friends you just want to give to friends or something... I can't get rid of these things for shit!)
Awesome, thanks for donating! Let me know your highest bid on the Waterfront poster, and we'll add it to the silent auction! ;)
Where are your tickets? I can post them on another Chicago-based board, if you like. Hopefully someone will buy them.
Is there a consensus yet on a meeting place ? Can I help out with anything ?
I'm good at taking orders and terrible at executive decisions
Thats what 24 years of marriage does to you ;)

It's just a few blocks from the Auditorium, pretty prime location.
I'm meeting with the Mercy Home representative tomorrow morning, so hopefully we'll know a little more about what we'll need to do after that. Thanks for the offer to help, Tater! I'm gonna take you up on that!
this makes me want to come up really bad... i may just come up in the morning and hang at a free spot (like da zoo) and then come to this and the show then drive home. morning obligations make this tough though.
You guys, the folks at Mercy Home are PSYYYYCHED about our little shindig and really want to get involved! I'm hoping we can make this a successful event for them. They'll be providing "Shamrocks for Kids" pins for a small donation and will also be providing literature and money collection cans.
Hoping to have a Facebook event page up and running later today :) Thanks all for your enthusiasm and generosity - let's keep it going! :)
YAY! I'm coming too, and I don't have any good swag to donate but I'll give dollah billz, yo! Getting excited about this! :D

:D It looks like I'm going to be able to make it if I spend the next 5 days in bed!!! So, I'm loaded with Okonokos and my other Jacket DVDs and lots of family Guy and American dad and soup. I'm excited about this Mercy House event and would like to donate a show poster the full band just autographed for me. This is the type of stuff I love to be involved in and any assistance I can provide, please let me know. ONE WEEK!

you should be able to. thats what i did at the Palace show.
My friend is going to this show and will already be in Chicago that day. His wife is flying into O'Hare arriving at 8:30pm. What is the quickest way for her to get to the venue, she won't have any luggage with her. Do you suggest a cab or train or...? They're cutting it close but hoping it can be done. They have awesome seats (thanks to Caseydog!)
So if doors open at 7:30, so DMM would go on at 8-8:45, MMJ would most likely come on at 9/9:15? Is this right?
thanks for your help!

I show the concert beginning at 7:30, and I would guess MMJ would go on anywhere between 8:30-8:50?
You should definitely cab it from O'Hare. The traffic *shouldn't* be too bad going into the city at that point, it's gonna cost $30, but should only take 20-25 minutes

What's wrong with taking the Blue line from O'Hare? I guess it would be slower, but it would be cheaper and eliminate the possibility of getting stuck in traffic.
The Blue line would be fine under normal circumstances, but they are basically landing like 10 minutes before MMJ takes the stage. If I were them, I would want to haul ass to Auditorium as quick as possible. I love the El, but it can be slow, and if you don't where you are going, it can also be confusing. Traffic should be easy skankin at 8:30, grab a cab and get there!

I hear that -- I'm just a notorious cheapskate, and Blue Line to Jackson's about as easy as it gets. If it was me, though, I'd be changing flights, and damn the $150 fee! ;D
Yeah, she's gonna be cutting it close no matter what. Traffic coming into the city can be a little sketchy on Fridays, but I'd still recommend a cab over the train, especially for someone who's not super familiar with the CTA.

Aw. You guys are making me teary-eyed. I loooooove that so many of the 10th Avenue 10 have been able to see each other since T5. Awesome.
WXRT is doing a Live Concert Webcast of the show starting at 8:30 PM CT
So my buddies and I planned a trip to Chicago back in Feb since I've always wanted to see the city and to finally get to Wrigley Field. As awesome as fate can be, I checked MMJ's tour schedule the other day and....HOLY SHIT...they are in Chicago the same day I am.
First thing is first...if anyone has an extra please e-mail me. I'm the only MMJ fan in the group (perhaps I need to get new friends!) so I'll be riding solo and just need to get in the door. I went the Stubhub route and they only have 2 or more tickets available. My next step is Craigslist or wait until tomorrow night to pick up a single.
Also since I don't know the area at all, is there a bar nearby that would be good to grab a bit to eat and a beer before the show?
Thanks in advance and very much looking forward to the show!
Good luck with your ticket quest -- you might look here (http://www.mymorningjacket.com/forum/index.php?board=9.0).
Kasey's Tavern is where we're meeting up, as determined earlier in this thread, and there's another thread about the fundraiser going on there, but I can't find it.
I also need a ticket for tomorrow if anyone wants to go splitsies.
I just pulled some strings and got 2 tickets. Can't fuckin' wait. Bonnaroo -> Chicago -> Red Rocks = Good Jacket Summer.
My brother just got Center row Q from ticket master i have a feeling that they released the tickets from the peope (ie scalpers)who couldn't pick up at will call.
chicago friends, what area of town is a good place to book a hotel that isnt loop/grant park. i wanna be able to easily reach the venue via train, for a slightly better price. if it doesnt exist i'll go how i always do with the bestwestern at grant park

that has become your MMJ concert costume.. even on halloween that's what you wore!
i think you might get booed out of the stadium in Denver if you wear that Cincy hat, though.
