I love how Nateva claimed they couldn't get MMJ but yet they are playing Bangor around the same time.

I shared your initial enthusiasm.... bu,t it's over a 4 hr drive.   we'll see.... if better options don't materialize, I'll be there!

This does give me hope for my My real wish: Life Is Good festival in September, since the band seems willing to make a festival splash.    That's at a farm close to my house.   I worry it's too small a festival but you never know!

Agreed. I went to the Portland show last October, which was unbelievable. But I'm gonna hold off on making the trek to Bangor until I see what else pops up, hopefully there will be a couple in Mass. (maybe Boston and a Holyoke repeat?)

I'll be there.  Took my girlfriend and my little brother to KahBang last year, it was fun.  Having MMJ this year is going to be unreal.

I cannot believe that MMJ are coming to Bangor.  Only a 2 hr drive for me.  Still hoping for some non-festival dates in this area.

I think I'll have to go.  I'm driving 4 hours to Mountain Jam, 4 hours to Montreal, so what's 4 hours to Bangor?  I'm assuming it will fall on the final night of the festival, Aug. 13.  VIP tix are only $80 "early bird", so I might go that route.  Then again, I might hold off.  Funny how there seems to be this 4 hours "MMJ-free zone" around me, though.  C'mon boys, come to Concord! (New Hampshire, Ms. Bachman).

i'm already getting the itch to just give in and jump on this before waiting for more new england dates. i love marking the calendar when i've committed to a show. we'll see, like roger miller says in "king of the road"- Third boxcar, midnight train, Destination...Bangor, Maine!

How big a crowd was there last year?  And,  do you remember if they sold individual day passes?

Thanks!

They said 10,000 combined attendance, so I'd estimate maybe 4,000 or so night 1 and 6,000 or so night 2.  Yes they sold individual day passes, it was like 20 for one day and 30 for both if i remember correctly, but I'm guessing the band budget is much larger (only a couple well known bands last year) this year so it will be a bit more I would expect.

Sweet.  Thanks for the info.

I'll wait and see when the day passes are available, and snag one of those.  Also wait and see if they schedule any other dates in this neck of the woods around that time, and grab those too.  I'd rather see them on their own then in a festival setting, but I can't be greedy and will certainly take what I can get.

I'm hoping that they enjoyed their small amount of time in Portland last fall and are willing to come back ;D

It's MMJ!  Four hours is nothin'!  :D   8)   I'm driving over 4 hours to L'ville!  And I would have made the 6 hour jaunt to Chicago if it weren't for a wedding I have to attend the next day.

Well, tickets go on sale tomorrow for this ($80 VIP 2-day passes)

http://www.kahbang.com/tickets/buy-tickets (http://www.kahbang.com/tickets/buy-tickets)

but after a discussion with the wife, she's cool with me hitting Ottawa after Montreal, plus all the other shows lined up or coming soon, if I let go of KahBang Fest.  Just one show/festival/hotel/2-days-away-from-home too many.

I'm still trying to work out a family visit to Chicago around Lolla time ($1700 airfare for my family, yikes).  And hopefully, some fall dates closer to home (at least no more than 2 hours away, please).

So I will remain satisfied with Mt. Jam, Montreal, Ottawa Bluesfest, and Lollapalooza.  Seems fair.  Hope KahBang is great.

(and who knows; I might find a way by then ;) )

I know this is a smaller fest with only so many bands, but 80$ for VIP passes seems sweet. This seems like a really cool festival. I would love to go to a fest that also had significant amount of film.

I'm going to take a risk and hold out for the individual day music pass.  I agree that the $80 VIP pass is a great deal, but my only real interest here is seeing MMJ.  I wonder when they'll announce whether or not they are playing 8/12 or 8/13?  I'll just have to keep an eye out for that and hope that it doesn't sell out before releasing the individual day passes

I've promised my wife I'd skip this one, a week after Lollapalooza and the night before we go to MMJ in Boston.  If I win the tickets, I'll meet you in Portsmouth.  I don't think I'll be going, otherwise.

YEAH, Yeah!  Monkeyboy here and in full effect, sorry I disappeared this summer from the board.  I am sure no one cares...Can't wait for the Kahbanger in Bangah!  That shitty little town has no idea of what is to come!  Free tix and camping are the only reasons that I get to go, ultra poor this summer and was only going to Boston with Jahmazed.  So pumped for these setlists, look rocking...peace!

So......I also won two free camping tickets to the Kahbang music festival. Unfortunately, some last minute personal business has made it pretty tough for me to go to the show. I stand here offering up my two passes to a true Jacket fan who is looking to go to this festival but doesn't have a ticket.

Please, only someone who is definitely going to go to this festival. I would have to give your name and contact info to the official people.

Does anyone want to go? This is what i'm offering:

These tickets get you and a guest into the 2-Day Music Festival on August 12 & 13 along with a FREE camping pass for 2 people.

Also, if you want these tickets you are required to write a short summary/review of your experience in this thread.....so I can live vicariously through you :)

(http://www.pressherald.com/life/go/kahbang__2011-08-11.html.)  I want to go for a drive with Jim too, I always keep an eye on the comings and goings at Gateway in downtown Portland.  You never know who will be outside hanging around on their cell.

So it doesn't happen again, if anyone going has taping gear please bring it!  I really think this will not be a typical festival set of hits.  They have free roam as far as set times but it is downtown so I doubt it would go to 1am or something.  I sense a great spiritual connection for the boys here in Maine, evident in the shows they have played in Vactionland.  Northern Sky would be rad to hear again!

Amen, brother.  Actually, I find its kinda nice when back-to-back MMJ shows include a full show and a fest.  Rock the pit for two hours, then find your seats for a 3 hour set full of surprises.  Represent and report in, or save it for Remy's.

This sounds to me more like an allergic reaction than food poisoning.  Shellfish is a pretty common allergy.  And judging my his "my body decided not to like lobster anymore..." sounds pretty standard.  Allergic reactions are pretty damn scary and they can develop out of nowhere (he's probably eaten lobster before and been fine).  I think allergic reactions good worse each time so I doubt he can ever eat shellfish again (the horror!).

disclaimer- I am not a doctor but I did stay at Holiday Inn Express last night.   Plus the exact thing happen to wife last year from penicillin.

I was there, Hopefully, The Way That He Sings, Movin' Away, Butch Cassidy, and Anytime were all cut from the setlist.  What A Wonderful Man was NOT cut, Jim played it solo on the omnichord, but it must've been moved from where it originally was on the set, I can't remember.  They definitely played it though.

I was front row and I got a setlist, it was amazing.  Hearing all the rarities was awesome and the highlights were probably I Will Be There When You Die, Dondante (it was absolutely amazing acoustic), and Smokin' > Touch Me.

Hope a recording comes out as everyone needs to hear this.

Both bands started out around the same time period and in close proximity to each other. However, one band has real talent and the other exhausted whatever creativity they might have had when they let Ethan Johns go as their producer. Real musicians care about their fans.

Did anyone notice if there were any tapers in the audience?

I'd be interested it this too.  I hate Patrick got sick and missed out but I can appreciate the uniqueness of this kind of show.

This article has a video of Wonderful (TWIF) embedded in it.  Some guy yelling "Wonderful Man!" during Jim's vocal outro is really rude!  Was he doing that all night?  Respect.

Yes he was, ridiculously drunk guy.  He kept pushing up to us at the very front to yell it.  it was so annoying, i was so happy when Jim finally played it so the guy would shut up.

He was the single worst fan I have EVER been around at a show... if I was close enough would have hit him.  He literally did not stop screaming all night... "WONDERFUL MAN" "LIBRARY" "IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE"

And then there was the asshole that hit Jim in the face with beer during the opener  >:(

What a bunch of di*ks to do that, looks like this was the most open set lists as far as previous songs/ shows have been.  Glad to hear Patrick is well again and would have loved to catch this setlist but withput Patrick it had to be different.
