Thinking if everyone down in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and other areas affected by this devastating weather. Just watching footage of Tuscaloosa, and can't help but think of Megalicious and anyone else being impacted by this dreadful string of storms. Also hoping that all of Br00ke's people are ok.
Stay safe everyone!
Seth and Bailey are okay. Just got a text.
Haven't seen a tweet or a FB post from Meg in a couple of hours. I hope she's ok.
The twister that hit 2 blocks from the house was officially classified as an F2. Scary.

there are a ton of video, photos and such out there. i saw one where you can see the torando just behind bryant denny stadium and i saw a video of mcfarland blvd and it was totally unrecognizable. 400,000 residents w/o power.
so much devastation....
i am so glad to hear the fam is all accounted for Br00ke.
:o Wow. Scary stuff. I'm so glad to hear that everyone is okay. Just hope the cleanup and recovery isn't too arduous.
what a helpless thing to watch as it comes towards the city. it looks like it starts to split into two tornado's at the end of clip. gnarly shit. yahoo is saying 40people died today in the south so far, horrible.
thanks for the word on meg. i was hopeful there would be some news of her here.
absolutely terrible what is happening in AL and MO this week.
those poor people.
Thoughts and prayers to family and friends south of here. Nashville was a rough go last night and today, but nothing compared to south of us.

Hey Brooke - my parents live in Cullman and my bro is in Fultondale. They got it pretty rough. My dad sent me some pretty gnarly pictures from yesterday... Wow. Just devastating. Glad to hear your family and friends are all okay so far.
Oh damn, this is horrible stuff, so many people...good to hear Meg's okay, and Seth and Bailey, and Brooke's peeps. Stay strong, we're with y'all.
Thinking about you guys caught up in all this. Stay safe, everyone.

Scosby, Brooke, Jon T, Tracy, Mega and everyone else, may I just send best wishes to you and your family and friends. Mother nature is always so goddamn horrifying and humbling.
Doesn't AngryEwok live in Tuscaloosa, too? I hope he's okay. We're thinking of you Brad, hope you & your family are okay.
Glad to read that y'all are OK...heard the mayor of Birmingham (I think) on the radio this morning. He mentioned that they needed clothes (all types infant to adult and water. So many have lost everything...
thanks to everyone for their good thoughts. i can't speak for everyone but i imagine they are hurting like the state of alabama has been. it's just wild. i know a handful of folks that have lost everything ... some lost everything down to the hallway they were in with a mattress over their family. it's unbelievable, i just can't imagine :embarassed: my immediate family has been w/o power since this all went down and i haven't been able to be in touch but my mom got power back this morning for a bit only to have it yanked away. from what i hear, family in tuscaloossa have yet to get power but they are oh so happy to be alive.
Brad posted on FB that he's ok.
Hey, y'all. First time posting since half my town disappeared. I know the national news coverage has moved its focus away, but we still need help.
Please take the time to watch the video below.

I can't even begin to describe how awful this is and has been. Please don't forget about your friends down South.

Please don't forget us. I have never seen anything like this in my life.
I drove out to my old neighborhood Saturday, and it was surreal. I used to live in a little community in Tuscaloosa called Forest Lake. It was one of the hardest-hit areas in town.
Here's a view down the street, looking at what used to be houses surrounding a lake:

This is what remains of the house across the street from my old place. The room left standing is the bathroom. The guys inside survived because they were in the tub with matresses over their heads.:

This is what is left of my old house:

I'm not bumping this thread to be a bummer. I just want to remind people that the recovery process is still ongoing. It's going to take years for things to return to "normal." If you can, please continue to support The Red Cross, Salvation Army, or United Way. Thanks.

very awesome and well written article!!!
damn. this is crazy. my sister and her family live in Tuscaloosa, and I never even knew the severity of this! She told me all about it after the fact, but pictures put it in perspective! shits terrible. I'm glad that MMJ/Neko/Phos are doing a benefit show, and hope to meet some good Tuscaloosa peeps down at the show!
That article had me bawling. I love Rick Bragg. He did such a great job describing what it's been like for us down here. It's been hard as hell, but we're getting through it together. It's been so amazing to see the community to come together, to see the willingness of people to help their fellow neighbors. That's just how we Southerners are.
:)
