OOOOOOH will I be there!
Anyone have any ideas how Roll Call members may treated Uptown Theater? I've only been there one or two times and it seems it's all GA. So, would that mean we just get first dibs on GA tickets or something else? Curious.... :o
I might go on my way to Red Rocks. I'll have to check into changing my flights.
Last time I saw MMJ at the Uptown it was all GA.
Oh yeah! Definitely going to this show! It is going to be great to watch back to back shows with Red Rocks the next night. I am also wondering what the benefits of roll call would be for this show. I would consider signing up, but since everything is GA what would be the point.
Now I'll get to see them live 3 times this summer!
Wakarusa 6/2
KC 8/3
Denver 8/4
Boom stl to kc, back to back jacket attack!
Looks like we're only gona have a 3 Roll Call Member/Forum hangout. Maybe this is why they haven't played KC in so long...
I'll be there...driving down from Omaha.
I'll be bringing a few with me, Bearass is definetly heading up with me.
I most likely will be there. My best friend lives real close to this show. It gives me a great reason to get out there and drink some beer with him
Any reason to join Roll Call for this show? Their last show in 08 at Uptown was close to a sellout according to the review. You guys think this will sell out?
If you guys want to meet up for drinks before I will definitely be around there somewhere pre-boozing.
If it sold out in '08 I would bet it would sell it out this time.
I emailed Roll Call to see if there was any benefit to having Roll Call for this event other than pre-sale and didn't get a response. MMJ is my heart - I'd be a part of Roll Call if they were playing a room full of ten people just to be a part of it.
Still haven't listened to Circuital and I even have it downloaded and IN iTunes...really trying to hold out till the 31st for all the special goodies in the mail.
Any idea what the ticket price may be?
I'll be there....the '08 show at The Uptown was frigging brilliant!! Definitely top 2-3 shows I've ever been to. The '08 show wasn't sold out, in fact I thought it seemed like they could have fit another 1000 people compared to the size of crowds at some other Uptown Shows in recent memory (The Raconteurs, Kings of Leon, Beck/MGMT to name a few). But the crowd that was there was rockin it and havin a blast!! I personally got wasted but really remember every part of the night!! The Uptown is the best indoor venue in KC.
Can't wait for MMJ 8.3.11
I'm down for some preshow drinks
I'm pretty sure I'll be there. I love the venue; the inside of the place is gorgeous. I'm game for a pre-show beer or two.
Check out Out A Bounds across the steet. Me and a freind went in there before the last show. It's a sports bar so there were nothing but guys in there. I guess there were no sporting events going on that night because they had project runway on the tv's. Lot's of great pictures on the wall of tennis players and swimmers. Everybody was real friendly.

Yeah I went there before a Ryan Adams concert once, I'm pretty sure there is a reason there was only dudes in there. Everybody treated my girlfriend and I nice, but I wasn't the typical customer. Thanks for the helpful tip though >:(

Heard that!
coffee intel: last time i was in KC i logged a lot of time at the broadway cafe & roastery. http://www.broadwaycafeandroastery.com/ (http://www.broadwaycafeandroastery.com/) the espresso here is amazing. turns out it is just over 1/2 mile from the uptown!
it's in the area of kc that gets very fratty on weekend nights, but this place apart from the fray. :coffee:
oh! there were also some good late night slice opportunities down there.
peeved i haven't left myself enough time to visit the negro leagues baseball museum again. <3
My brother and I will be in attendance! I'm stoked...this will be my second time seeing them this summer. First was at Bonnaroo and they rocked it. This show will be amazing :D
I went to the last MMJ show at the Uptown, it was awesome. Uptown is my favorite indoor venue in KC. For drinks prior to the show, head over to Westport, McCoys/The Foundry is nice for beers. I have an extra ticket for the show that I'll sell below face if anyone still needs one.
The Day has COME! Well after last night my face was melted off at the pageant, been trying to put it back together since. Elmers glues isnt working very well, Were in for a treat, the boys kicked ass night and will kick even more ass tonight!!!!
:D Alright just got to the hotel in KC fixing to head to dinner at Houston's, then off to the Uptown to see the greatest band ever! This will be my 5th but my fiances first show! I will have a review and details tomorrow!
The venue let about 30 of us in for soundcheck around 4ish. They played Slow, Slow Tune, Outta My System, and It Beats 4 U. Awesome break from the 100 degree weather that is outside!
:D Awesome- heading out there in about an hour!
WOW. first off, got a signed poster and got to see the soundcheck! Second, they tore the roof off the place. My ears will be ringing for days. I thought the stl show was great but man this show blew it outta the water. They literary rocked so hard that all the lights went out during honest man. This was by far the best show Ive ever seen, the crowd was electric, everything went right. The boys were having an awesome time, at one point at the very end of one song, waiting for the last crunch/chord strum, pat reaches over and starts banging on tommys bass with his drumstick, it was great. So much energy in the smaller venues, i mean i got into it at Stl but man, i was pogo dancing, i never pogo dance. A. i have bad knees, B. I have a ten inch vertical. I felt like i was jumping 8 feet in the air.
P.s. I'm pretty sure i was the sweatiest dude in the whole place. I rocked the Fuck out. When the roadies came out and grabbed the set list the dude made sure i got one. I fuckin earned that bitch tonight
P.s.s Gideon tonight was amazing, Ive never heard them play the ending any other way, it was ending the same way with Jim doing the same guitar riff and the WHAM gust busting monster jam.
now now spinx i was just as sweaty and i believe i rocked harder :D got some pics ill throw on here soon

sweet - we got a guitar jam at the end of Gideon in Toronto as well. It surprised the heck out of me but it was awesome!!!
I just want to add that this was by far the most amazing Jacket experience that I have ever had. it was great to see ms.yvon again. Seeing shows just wont be the same without you. I got early entry and I got to see the sound check which was awesome, because I have never seen the guys in such informal clothes playing before. Jim was in a cut-off sleeve shirt, tom and carl wore sneakers and carl still had some bed hair. There was maybe 25 people in there watching them play. Afterwords, I ended up getting a poster signed by all members of the band!
The set list for the night was great. We got a full Lay Low, It Beats 4 U and Honest Man. They played Honest Man so hard that during the last half of the song it knocked the lights out.
After the show, ms. yvon and I went to a bar and rehashed the show and how mind blowing it was and ended the night chatting with Tom for a bit before we each headed out from Kansas City.
Gah! It was an amazing night, I dont feel like I have accurately put it into words. Watched the Lolla show earlier and I am super, SUPER pumped for the Indy show tomorrow night! I can not get enough of this band!
Unbelievable performance fellas. It's difficult to convey how special that night was. I did my best, supported with a bunch of photos & hd vids of Victory Dance and I'm Amazed.
