Wonder if this means they'll announce a NY area show as well.
I'm saying either that Fri night at Jones Beach or a show at Williamsburg Waterfront.

Just got the Roll Call email....tomorrow at 12 PM EST.
Had NO idea the Mann is an outdoor venue.
It's kind of indoor/kind of outdoor... very unique/cool setup inside, with a covered balcony

I'm about 90% sure there is a pit... I saw DCFC there about 3 years ago and had 2nd or 3rd row seats right up front.
Oh yay - there is a pit~

While you're all going ahead and buying your special tickets, I'll be getting interviewed by a judge in Albany to fulfill a stupid formality.

it's actually both. There is a covered area w/ seats. I believe there is a tiny pit section in front of the seats & there is a fairly large lawn GA section
sorry i confuse easily, but are we aiming for GA seats or the covered seats??
obviously i wanna be in the pit (but the pit are lawn seats?)

If memory serves, the pit is under the covered section directly in front of the stage. The lawn seats are further back than the covered section. Not sure what everyone else is doing, but my crew is gonna do lawn seats this time around. We're doing GA pit tix for MPP. Consensus is that our special lady friends may not be able to handle the intensity of 2 pit shows in 2 weeks. small sacrifices
i think i'm out for this .. if i had a car (and could get back to NYC that night) it'd be a no brainer but mid-week out of town shows are hard for me. wahhhhhh. and to further tease me, Outta My System just came on radio paradise (http://www.radioparadise.com/) (aka the best commercial free internet radio!!)

I don't know Philly all that well, and how far away the train station is from the Mann, but I'd be happy to give you guys a lift to the train, and pick you up there too. I can fit 3-4 depending on if I hit the show solo or not.
not sure either, but here is some info on location and t/p options, doesn't mention the train here.

As much as I am grateful for the roll call setup, this issue needs to be addressed. You shouldn't have to be locked into a ticket with no way out, if when it gets close to show date you cannot make the event. My only gripe about roll call. Not sure the best way to deal with it though.

No doubt about that!!!!
i just tried to go back and get some pit and i got e, g, h, then j. i'll just stick with C.
i have a feeling that they'll play another show around the dc/md/pa/nyc area around that time so i'll have to save up for that as well.
oy .. i'm totally confused RE: seating then. pit to me = PIT open GA whatever goes. oh well, i'm gonna not buy the ticket (i keep pulling PIT C's for what it's worth .. good tix still available folks). wish i was though !!
RE: roll call pre-sales. you don't ever need to be worried about pulling good tickets. if you pull something your not 210% thrilled about, throw it back and try again - or .. try pulling 1 ticket and do that again (if you need 2). i have gotten a Pit C every time when searching for 1 but the minute i searched for 2 it throws me back to Orch. for the recent phish shows @ Merriweather, i pulled funky lodge seats for almost an hour and then finally i pulled a Pit for night 2 and then kept trying and pulled a Pit for night 1. bananas !!

not always the case. I've had pit tix for phish in camden, they put out folding chairs and your ticket is assigned a row/seat. Pit tix for tomorrow's MMJ show in LA are the same thing...and are assigned a row/seat.

still thought this ticket system is better than 10c like knowing the tix before. or even now when i got soundgarden tix it was super easy. tho at the end of the day you are right it's the demand that makes it worse.

It's always going to be super easy when 200 people are going for tickets instead of 20,000 at any one show. You can still get Orchestra A center row D(8th row including the 4 pit rows) center over 3 hours later.
for now. :) i guess it was an exaggeration . we got a a pot of gold
No doubt. Lets enjoy this gravy train while we can!!!! You know they have a seniority system in place should they need it so I think we are all good anyway. But you are right, this is a friggin awesome time to be a fan club member for MMJ.

hey, so it's only a 4 row pit? that's pretty awesome! i find all of the lettering/numbering to be a bit confusing. but i know one thing, we will be in the PIT! cc-9 and cc-11 on the left.
i can't believe i got pit too. DD but any of the rows will be sick
I'm technically in 10th row and fine with that.

It looks like there are only 104 pit seats total in the whole pit, with half of them in the center section.
sad to say i can't make this one as mrs. headhunter and i will be away. :(
happy to have MP and Red Rocks on the horizon and waiting for a NYC announcement.

:( you 2 will be missed! wouldn't have been EXACTLY returning to the spot we met, but it's in philly so that counts as far as i'm concerned... you & beth will be there in spirit & i'm sure you'll be having a wonderful time on vacation 8)
goes without saying, but - much fun will be had @ RR, MPP & the yet to be announced NYC show ;)
I can promise you that there are no bad seats at The MANN. Sound is amazing, location is fun...its in Fairmount Park so there is grass for tailgating and trees to cool the air. Mad props to the city & promoters for getting the place back on its feet...their calendar this summer is rad (Bright Eyes, MMJ, Dylan, DCFC, Ray Lamontagne...R. Kelly)

Thanks

Not much. The venue is in a huge city park. From what I remember the last time I was there we parked in a field, and I don't think there was any tailgating. There aren't any businesses at all within walking distance, but there is a bus that they run from Center City (for bars and such) to the venue and back on nights that there are shows.

That's a pretty good deal, imo. I'd do it if I was in the city. Factor in gas and parking, not to mention being able to kick back, and not actually having to do the driving, and it's well worth it.

no bars (or any businesses for that matter) near the venue, but grass and trees...prime tailgating...or you can enter the venue pre-Neko, the promoters always have a DJ in the main concourse where the beer/liquor is sold...i know the guy doing the pre-MMJ set, he'd rad...winkwinkelbowelbow!

in my opinion the best outdoor venue in Philly. AS mentioned in a earlier post its in Fairmount Park. So its all grass and trees. Tailgating scene is perfect. Saw whats left of the Dead there last year and it ROCKED. I hope MMJ plays many more shows there after this one. I am new to the boards; but can't wait to meet the eastcoast crew! MMP first then Band of Horses in NJ and then the Mann! Gotta pretty nice little August planned out I would say.

This looks like it will be another great show in our amazing run of catching some classics!
I'm sure the pit will be as great as last year, if not better. Loudest I ever heard "THEY ARE.... THE IMITATORS".
I was listening to the show just the other day, and started to get real psyched for my 2nd MMJ @ MPP.

Good luck guys - I have a friend from D.C. who purchased two orchestra tickets during the presale who is on the fence. If he can't make it, I'll see if I can broker a deal. ;) He'd sell them for face.
But by all means keep looking as there is a good chance he'll be at the show.
I also have a pair of tix I bought through roll call I may or may not use.
If I can't make it at all happy to get them to you bluesky if we can figure out the will call stuff through artist arena.
If I can pull it off but Mrs Mahg33ta doesn't join me I'll have an extra for you subinai if you want it.
I should know within a week or so.
They are not pit but very good orchestra seats.
TSarge, magh33ta - def interested in a single ticket. you guys are awesome.
thinking back now i think there were only orchestra options for this show; no pit.
thank yaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a pit, but its only like 5 rows deep. Orchestra is behind that. My tickets are pit

I knew you'd give it some more thought. ;D
If it was a ga show, I'd agree that the bus is leaving kind of late, but with an all-seated (except the lawn) venue, I think you'll get there in plenty of time. Even if it gets you there by 6:30, you'll be in good shape with a seat. It doesn't leave much time for a tailgate, but you can get your partying in on the ride down! ;)
Hope to see you there. 8)
ericm-you know me well..
I'll go if by some chance lil sis can't take ynwa's other super close ticket, i'll take the party bus down with Brooke (hoping she goes)..STILL think we should leave time for a truck overturned on the freeway..
okay where is the philly tailgate? on the grass? count me in if this ticket is still floating around...(or unless brooke and i can find some close tix)
I believe the consensus was just party in the lot
Penny - BELEIVE you me, I share you're concerns! I'm driving down with a group who can't leave until 5 because of work... I'm taking a half day and will be waiting with the engine on (subinai is taking a half day too, assuming he gets a ticket).

I'm officially out for this one. I hate when that little thing called work gets in the way! >:(
Damn! Sorry to see you're not gonna be able to make it. :(
I've got a feeling your seat will be put to good use, and you'd be proud of it getting represented so well. ;)
I'm def bummmmmmed about it. BUT I'm fortunate enough to say that I made it to JacketFestWest last week and JacketFestEast tomorrow. I know whoever gets my ticket will make me proud and put a little "jersey" into that representation. ;)

J,
Linds and I are thinking about going to this show if I can get the time off!
Excellent! Any questions about the city shoot me a msg, hope you can make it!
Peafunk and I; along with a whole bunch of our peeps will be doing lawn for this one. I always loved the lawn at the Mann so we decided to kick it old school. Can't wait to hit the lot for this one. We are gonna try to get down there by 4pm.

At least I remembered to take a pic of your "Jesus Hates the Yankees" T-shirt.

By chance, did you partake in any of Jersey Dan's beer assortment? I've been thinking of starting a thread titled "Jersey Dan kicked my ass w/ beer at MPP" ;D That beer he had was delicious but quite strong (especially the wormwood beer). I didn't do myself any favors though with my base beer for the day being Yards IPA (7%). Coupled with that blazing sun = ughh

Uhhhh yeah - I was drinking my beers which were 4.5% until you pulled out the 60 min IPA, then JD shows up and he is feeding wormwood beer and a bunch of other "special beers". And my wife was sparking all night. I lost consciousness somewhere before the encore. Pretty stupid but I was havin a helluva time.

Yeah man! I imbibed some of those special beers as well. The only thing that saved me was the disgusting sausage sandwhich and a huge mountain dew I got when i got inside. I will be bringing some bruscetta with my fresh garden tomatoes and some awesome but lighter weight beers for the pregame.

Eating! What another fine idea which I chose to ignore. I bought 2 more micros when I walked through the gates but sipped' em throughout the show. At least I didn't piss anyone off, even my wife was mostly laughing at my state.
Regardless - Philly will be great and I will try to stay upright this time. Esp. since Jersey Dan will not be in the lot but instead spinning records inside.
It will also be nice to be in a lot where there is not 15 cops lined up next to our car. At least they didnt bother us at MPP. I think they were just gaurding the porto-johns. Apparently they wouldnt let anyone use them. They were telling people to go hit the woods.
By the way my gut is telling me we are going to get a strangulation at teh Mann. I'm just saying...
Hey guys,
Hoping to take my cousin to his first MMJ show. If anybody is selling decent seats, please let me know because we'd love to make the trip. Thanks!

Agreed j_rud and I think you guys are right behind me!!! I have to leave right from work and will be lucky if I get there at 7:00. Might have to miss some Neko (d'oh!). But it'll be nice to walk right to my seat and not have to elbow any tools out of the way.

Looking also cause i would like to take my girl to another MMJ show. Saw them at MPP and loved it so much that i need to see them again before they go overseas. Philly is the closest location for me to see them this year so if i can have off next tuesday i would like to join you fine folks for some tailgating pre-show as the drive down to Maryland proved to be too long for any tailgating. Over 7 hours on the road with it taking us more then 3 1/2 hours just to get to the turnpike in Jersey. If anyone has any extra tickets they are looking to part with i guess send me a message, that is after subinal and others get there crack at the first ones.
You still searching subinal? Add me to the list too then. Hope i can get my one day off work for that week.
there are still good seats available for the mann.. i just checked than i got row a.
hmmm weird. i just pulled o/b/c row B... but yesterday i was pulling some other section that wasn't in orch A B or C

it's a larger venue than normal for mmj in philly.... hopefully it sells well. hate seeing empty seats.
The Mann is unique because its got this cool upper deck area (from which this photo was taken)

I think we're going to be getting down there pretty early, like noonish. Any idea when they allow you in the lot?
1 week!
I showed my boss the pic from the Merriweather show and told her they were playing the Mann next Tuesday. Between bouts of laughter she managed "Guess you want a half-day then, right?". I love my boss...

I think it was a green tent. I was hanging with Peafunk and Staggerlee aka Sean and Todd and also Jersey Dan and BK. I went down to the show with my wife, and another couple (Dave and Mary). I was drinking recklessly for sure but not enough to blackout. And the blackout occurred over an hour in to the show and I only had one beer inside the venue. It doesn't add up. Last night I saw my friend Dave for the first time since the show and he had the same thing happen to him. He pretty much lost time. I had fun up to that point but I spent a lot of time and money planning the day/night and to have it end that way was disappointing. So I am not surprised to hear it happened to anyone else. Luckily my wife doesn't drink or we woulda been in trouble. She basically guided me back to the Sheraton.
I will be more aware in Philly. I realize all this probably sounds like b.s. but after some time reflecting, I am convinced it is not in my mind and that it did indeed happen this way.

bumble, it DID happen. The same exact circumstances occured for me. I was doing fine (a bit drunk but NOT blackout) until about an hour after we arrived in the pit. Then, blamo, I don't remember too much. Dave & Mary are very good friends of Stagger & me. We saw Dave later & he was FUCKED UP as well. Stagger managed to get it together (possibly from eating & a little extra hydrating that I did not do). Thank god my wife & Stagger looked over at me about 3 quarters of the way through the show or I may have passed out. They immediately got me the hell out of the pit & for that I am eternally grateful. It coulda gotten ugly for me.
Saying that so many of us felt the same effects sounds a bit odd to me. Was the common element the "special beers" that were busted out at the end of the tailgate?
Well on that note, i will be careful attending my first tailgating party in alpharetta. Im glad i read this thread, sometimes i can be a simpleton. thanks for sharing guys.

I wouldn't be too worried. I've been to hundreds of concerts in my time & this is the 1st time anything like this has happened to me. Have a hell of a time in Alpharetta & be safe!

Glad you were at least safe Peafunk. I had rehearsal last night so I had a few beers with Dave and Mary. We were discussing the whole chain of events and they both said you were lost. And of course Dave was lost too. The special beers were the common thread but I am really not sure so I am not pointing any fingers. I just know myself and I know that I ingested something that I was unaware of/unprepared for both mentally and physically. Oh well, looking forward to seeing you guys in the lot next week.

Saying that so many of us felt the same effects sounds a bit odd to me. Was the common element the "special beers" that were busted out at the end of the tailgate?
Well you and Trish were drinking my vodka concoctions as well ;D Somehow we had consumed just short of a full handle also. Sorry that this happened and glad to hear everyone is alright. Did I meet JD or Bumble? Still contemplating grabbing a single for Philly

I agree - First time this happened to me so I think its isolated.

I met a bunch of people but didn't really attach forum names to real names. I had a floppy green hat on and shades.

Peafunk and I; along with a whole bunch of our peeps will be doing lawn for this one. I always loved the lawn at the Mann so we decided to kick it old school. Can't wait to hit the lot for this one. We are gonna try to get down there by 4pm.
See you in the lot. Hopefully I feel better than I did at MPP. Felt like someone roofied me.
At least I remembered to take a pic of your "Jesus Hates the Yankees" T-shirt.
Holy shit bumble, I seriously thought someone roofied me too. Seriously. Were u at our tailgate with the green tent. That was just ugly, but in a scary way. Not good, not good.....hoping to erase that non-memory night with a good night in Philly.
Stop beating yourself up. Now. See you in Philly Trishalicious!!!

DO IT!
Roofieing (sp?) a bunch of people getting together at a concert tailgate seems a bit odd. Is it possible that all of you just got really hammered?

I know it sounds odd but I am a tailgate professional. 2 Blackouts in my life 20 years ago and this past Friday night. It is one thing to get really drunk but this experience for me was VERY different.

This, it was very different from a blankout drunk. I don't personally think it was roofies. But I remember Dave saying that one of the "special" beers had either salvia or sativa in it (I didn't hear that description personally). I can't remember which. I don't think it was the wormwood. I've gotten drunk on absinthe before & it was not like that at all.
Rob, if you can make it to Philly, absolutely do so! You know you have a place to crash.

As far as I've heard, Penny, party in the lot. There will be a whole mess of us in the lot starting around 3:30 - 4:00
bought a ticket. woop!
;D ;D ;D
Someone desperately wants to be included in the "My Morning Jacket Wolfpack."
Party in the lot! Earliest I can get there is 6:00. Zoinks. I'll probably miss out on a poster, too. Double zoinks.
have posters been selling out quickly on non-burwell nights?
Kind of want to go to this. Its a shame ill be at the beach in NC next week. 1 Jacket show in the summer jus aint enough!

ok, this is just too freaking coincidental guys. Peafunk & Bumble, you guys describe EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me. Seriously. It was the only time Bob ever actually wanted to leave a show because of the state that I was in. And he also noted, that I was fine (feelin good) in the lot, and then got one beer inside the venue, and was still pretty ok during Neko. By the time the boys came on, I was an absolute lunatic, he has never seen me like it, and I have never felt like it or completely forgotten SO many parts of the night. When I tell you that my experience looking at the pics from the night was like the scene at the end of Hangover, i kid you not. Totally had to look at the setlist too -- and had forgotten many things.
Here is what I consumed: 1/2 cup of sangria, 4 beers (1 yards, 1 of the other kind in the same cooler as the yards, and 1 red stripe light, 1 Corona Light in the venue), and 1 jello shot topped with that alcohol infused whipped cream, and a few sippy sips of rob's kool aid.
I was seriously fine, taking down the tailgate, cleaning up, and being generally helpful to Bob (unusual) and I even ate like 2 pieces of sandwich and chips.
ugh. Can't wait to chat w you guys at the show, and Rob you better be there!
I don't know what "roofing" is, but I mentioned before about my own over-imbibing for this show. I don't think I was ever so messed up in my life at a concert! I know I enjoyed it, but was feeling very out-of-control and could barely walk at the end. I don't ever get that bad. I didn't have any "special beers," just mixed a lot of different alcohols (champagne, every kind of jello shot I brought, several Jack & Cokes and margaritas in the venue) which of course is a big no-no and I hardly ate anything all day which is another no-no. I'm pretty much a tailgate professional myself and can out-drink most people I know - especially when it comes to hard liquor. I chalk my experience up to the combo of mixing alcohol and the crowded and hot conditions in that pit - lots of alcohol + hot and sweaty conditions = total delirium.
Think I learned my lesson there. See you all Tuesday in a non-delirious condition!
cant wait guys it is going down soon. watch what you consume next week, thats some crazy shit you guys experienced.
I also kind of blacked out about an hour or so after going into MPP, but I chalked that up to being hammered and not a roofie colada. I seriously doubt this roofie conspiracy, I think it was just a non-stop flow of booze in the lot for many.

This is why I employ the practice of alternating each beer/drink with a water. That's why you see me drinking Coors in a lot of the Red Rocks pictures. Hydrate, people!
Holy smokes! I leave you all alone for one show and everyone gets roofied?!! Jeez. Did anyone eat any brownies? That's crazy. Sory you had this experience.
Capt, I'm sorry I missed your ONE appearance all year! :(

if they are not limiting to 1 per person (which i think may only have happened @ T5) i can pick one up for you, wonder twin
not sure exactly what time i'm rolling in, and i have to make it a sober show, but i hope to be there early enough to hang out w/ you guys in the lot. can't wait for this show!!!!
I really don't believe that there was any "roofying" going on. It's just odd that there were quite a few of us that experienced the same thing. It could have been pit heat coupled with too many strong brews & not drinking enough water. I dunno. It just didn't feel like it was pure drunkeness. I've never felt like that. Plus if I were that drunk, I shoulda felt like hell the next day. I honestly felt OK.
Meh, whatever happened, happened. I just got to be a little more careful come Tuesday. I'm sure as hell not going to let it dampen my tailgating participation on Tues. Only this time around I'm going light beer stylee. I may have to whiz 30 times before the show but I can live with that

I'm kinda on the fence for this one... waiting on a friend to decide if he wants to go... After the MPP show I need some more Jacket!!
On a side note... if you get to the venue early enough you might be able to wander across the street for a methadone dose at the clinic... My buddy has to play "avoid the tweaker" as he drives by there heading into work. :D
FYI - The Phils are in town that night... be sure to give yourself plenty of time on the Surekill.

I totally agree with you on this one, i went to MPP but the traffic was so bad we didn't even get any time to tailgate, got in town checked into the sheraton, got to the room then walked to the venue, hit the merch table then had a smoke on the grass b4 we headed down to the pit section. As soon as we walked down in the guys started their set.
Hope to make it to this show and have enough time to meet some of you fine people if that's cool with you all?
i am pumped you guys.
unfortunately my friend who was supposed to make the trip with me is stuck in california. don't really know too many ppl willing to travel a few hours for a band they never heard of. so unless somethign happens it looks like i will have 1 extra pit ticket for the show.

I just got official word that ynwa has graciously offered me her extra PIT ticket (2nd row center!) ....can't wait...haven't seen them in Philly since 2008.
I'm still on the hunt for good seats and willing to pay a little extra! My cousin just moved to NYC and I want to initiate him into the House of MMJ!!
Believe i also posted that i was looking for some pit tickets also, two to be exact but also made a thread on the buy/sell/trade tickets but have not heard back from anyone one yet about it. If someone has two pit tickets or some seats that are in orch A center and can't make the trip please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated cause just seeing them once this tour was not enough!
Thanks ahead of time for any help in this matter!!

Wise practice indeed, and takes years of practice to master. ;)

Speaking of "roots", wouldn't that be a mind blowing special guest? The Mann is in West Philly too...just sayin'.... ?uestlove and Patrick on the same stage might be too much to handle. I think they'd need some kind of special permit.

I don't think there was a special area in the lot plotted out. Trish, are you & Bob doing the tent thing again? That worked out pretty well as the tent was super easy to find. No worries if not, I'm sure it can be a hassle. I (& a few friends) should be in the lot no later than 3:30. I drive a gray 2009 Altima & we'll most likely be playing Baggo by my ride. I'll be leaving work at 4:00. Praying, hoping, wishing that the Surekill doesn't delay me too much. Even if I cruise on the turnpike, probably won't get to the venue until 6:30 with the baseball traffic. Excited to see everyone even if it's just to chat quick post-show!!!

Got my tickets to the show the other day, not in the pit but still going to be in the venue and that's good enough for me, needed some more MMJ berfore their summer tour was over here in the states. Looking forward to meeting and tailgating with you great people!!!! Where is the roll call list of the forum folks who are going? Add me to it plus one!!! Anyone know the specific area of where we all can get together in the lot?
I don't think there was a special area in the lot plotted out. Trish, are you & Bob doing the tent thing again? That worked out pretty well as the tent was super easy to find. No worries if not, I'm sure it can be a hassle. I (& a few friends) should be in the lot no later than 3:30. I drive a gray 2009 Altima & we'll most likely be playing Baggo by my ride. Or you can just wander around aimlessly yelling "Peafunk!!". Stop by & say Hi! We'll have a frosty one for you

Thanks much appreciated, trying to get down there early enough so we can enjoy some chats, beers, etc. Thanks again for the invite!
peafunk....where are you and your lovely wife sitting for the show? (apologies if you posted it already, I am clearly too lazy to read back through...)
I'm coming up to the Philly show by myself on Tues. from DC. Very excited after the amazing show at MPP last week.
It would be great to meet some forum people at the show, I'll probably get there some degree early. I met some of you at T5 last year.

Hey Guys! We are both working on Thuesday, so we won't be getting down to Philly til around 6 most likely, so we won't be doin' the whole tent thing this time :( I definitely hope to catch up with you guys, so I will PM you my cell # so you can text me and let me know where you guys land. See y'all soon!
Yes, everyone text me when you get there, too. I'll be leaving NYC around 4 hopefully so I think pulling around 6.
Peafunk, yell when/if you see me.
I'll be with Liz, 2nd row center..WOOT WOOT..CAN'T WAIT, COBRA OR NO COBRA!
We're going to have a fairly beefy crew with us (around 10 or so - all good peeps). We're actually doing lawn for this particular show so we'll be in the lot later than most. I'll have my gray Altima in the lot where we'll be hanging out around. Stagger & I will be in the lot around 3:30. Stagger is making some home made Bruscetta so we'll probably bring a folding table to house the snack spread. We'll also have Baggo out so it'll be easier to find us. I'm also going to probably throw an owl & Futurebirds bumper sticker on my ride to make for easy spotting. Stagger, if he remains with a shirt on, will be rocking the "Jesus hates the Yankees" t-shirt. Should be hard to miss
I'm completely down for everyone meeting up at our lot spot if that's what we want to do. I'm gonna shoot some PMs out with cell # for those who would like to pre-game with us. Shoot me a PM if you want my #

Hey izzi,
XPN posted this on their facebook page sometime last week:
QuoteMake a gift to XPN and win tickets to see My Morning Jacket next week plus entry into a private sound check party and BBQ! No pledge is necessary to win, but we hope you'll support XPN
So there is a sound check party, but that's the only place I've seen for a chance to win tickets.
Does anyone know what time the curfew is at the Mann assuming there is one?
I'm sure it's 11 PM...both Arcade Fire and Pavement shows last year ended before 11.

Pit C - DD - 105 and 106

However, I would like to sincerely thank Mahg33ta and APR for going way out of their way to help me and my friend find good tickets. :) I'm just grateful for all the overly kind people I have met on this board. Thanks again  Awesome!

I have snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat.
After being out for this show and then learning I couldn't transfer the tix, I spent the day moping around until Mrs Magh33ta said "WTF why don't we just go after all". Whoo hoo that's my lady!
So we are packing up and I am researching hotel rooms as we speak. We'll be there tomorrow evening - time uncertain - but look forward to seeing everyone. Would love to be a part of pre-game activities so if you have my cell or email keep me in the loop.
Along with this came a promise to stop buying tickets for shows months in advance with no clear way how to use them. But damn roll call is like crack - great seats at face value. how to say no?
Anyway, I'm pysched, obviously. No Honest Man please!
ps if any locals have hotel recs, I'd love to hear it. Doesn't need to be the ritz, I'll be in the room less than 8 hrs total. safe, clean, quiet, convenient to venue would be great. I just re-read the thread but didn't see anything.

These two are the closest I can think to the venue, I pass by them everyday on the way to work, safe areas, but I've never stayed at either one.

That's awesome!! Great lady you have there. Keep her around :-)
Ruckus---X2 what Tracy said! JK we'll miss you ..looks like you have a lot of awesome shows coming up, though!
I have two fan club purchase tickets available for tomorrows show. I was hoping to take the wife and kid but plans changed the last minute.
I will be at the show tomorrow with two extra tickets. Only looking for face value. In this case $51.10 for each ticket.
Awsome Seats! Located in O/A/C section. Seats 103 and 104. I will be in seat 105.
Based on the Manns seating chart I would assume this means Orchestra/A/Center.
From what I can gather it's row 4!!! That's just after the pit which is only a few rows deep.
First one to email me gets them. We'll have to exchange cell # etc.
Reach out to me at RoryLiam1@aol.com
I feel much better offering this on the fan site than just pawning them off to some Joe that walks up to the gate. These tickets need to end up in true MMJ Fans Hands!!
Magh33ta, this is very, very good news! Mrs Magh33ta must have been picking up my psychic vibes! Can't wait to see you guys!
Last year we stayed at the Hyatt at Penns Landing and it was lovely. Not sure of proximity to the venue and all that but it was great. We actually did it through a tip from ericm and went on price line, put in 4 star or higher and came up with that at like half price.
Either way, we will be down between 5 and 6, so we will catch you guys there!

Shoot me a PM if you want my #
Kyle, that's awesome! Happy to hear you were able to swing this one.
Still so sad that I won't be able to make it today. Hope everyone has an amazing time!

I'll be there earlier than 3. Any way to find you guys?
Ghosts -- this is peafunk's info:
We're going to have a fairly beefy crew with us (around 10 or so - all good peeps). We're actually doing lawn for this particular show so we'll be in the lot later than most. I'll have my gray Altima in the lot where we'll be hanging out around. Stagger & I will be in the lot around 3:30. Stagger is making some home made Bruscetta so we'll probably bring a folding table to house the snack spread. We'll also have Baggo out so it'll be easier to find us. I'm also going to probably throw an owl & Futurebirds bumper sticker on my ride to make for easy spotting. We forgot a folding table but baggo will be in action. I forgot to grab the bumper stickers so just look for my newer model gray Altima. I'm wearing a black Magic Hat shirt & Stagger is rocking the "Jesus hates the Yankees" shirt. Stagger will also be rocking a pair of ridiculous gold shades that look like what would happen if Elvis's shades had a love child with Maverick's shades. Come find us!

We definitely need a Ruckus update. Whaddya say man? Are you going to make the trip?
I am likely going to pass on this one and save some cash for some other trips and shows unless something magically falls in my lap.
However, I would like to sincerely thank Mahg33ta and APR for going way out of their way to help me and my friend find good tickets. :) I'm just grateful for all the overly kind people I have met on this board. Thanks again  Awesome!
Rock it Out!
Sad to hear you're not gonna make it, Rob. But I'm sure there will be plenty of show coming up to rock out with you at!

Most likely it's going to be:
7:30 - 8:15 NEKO CASE
8:45 - 11:00 MMJ
Has anybody confirmed this timing? I'm going to be barreling down the NJ turnpike with a bunch of tardy NYCers, leaving Brooklyn at 5
i have an extra ticket for tonight's show! it's CIR/LC row D seat 23. ticket is at will call and i will be at the show. if interested please pm me
ok, so i will have the extra pit ticket available for tonight.
issues:
my car died yesterday
i'm broke
so i am going to be spending my day working on those two things, so i am not sure what time i will be arriving. i'm still hoping to leave with plenty of time to see neko.
so if you are interested in the ticket and you won't kill me if i'm a bit late then let me know. it is second row center pit. one ticket, my friend cancelled on me so i'll be going solo from ny.
i had a number of you msg me about the ticket, i was thinking to make it fair, if you want it, send me a message between now and noon with a number 1-1000. person closest to my number will get it.

That poster was not there when i reached the merch table and don't believe it was the one commisioned for the show cause Dumbgun created the one i saw, which was a Bears head on the top of the poster with the skyline of Philadelphia City buildings.
Plus, when did Bo get a mustache of that magnitude......obvious bootleg. An over the top attempt by Bo to make Carl look bad while at the same time trying to fit his own facial hair in with the original members of the band. It's just sad really. Carl has every right to be pissed, even if his hair does look amazing.
I don't believe that was the poster either. They were handing out baseball cards, and thanks to the wonderful Trish, I was able to get one. It looks like this pic is the card, but blown up a bit.
If it was also available as a poster, I didn't see it, and will surely be on the lookout for one, as the card is freakin' awesome!!

my cobra iPhone audio recording . it's not very good cause i was close to the speakers. i so wanted to record the video if it wasn't for that freakin security guy eyeing me since he told me not to take anymore videos.
Anyone remember the kid who freaked out at T5 before It Still Moves? Was butting in line upstairs and later literally tried to push me and Crispy off the rail because I was holding Dan's spot while he was getting a poster? Not only was he there last night, but he's sitting next to me. How in the name of God does that happen? He actually apologized and tried talking but he just freaks me out, I gave him one of the baseball cards in the hopes he'd just leave me alone. Worked for the most part.
Great setlist and I love being able to hang out in the lot longer but I can't lie, seats take away from it for me. 4th row in the pit is certainly nothing to bat an eye at but its just not the same as being right on the rail inches from the band. To me its like a roller coaster: its a great ride anywhere but theres nothing like the front, and if you're gonna do it at all, you might as well do the right way. Im sure the band notices too. Most pits are a few inches from the stage, when they'd walk out here there was a 4 ft security-manned chasm between the audience and the stage. There was a decent contingent from the board and it was great to see some folks one last time before a bit of a hiatus. Ms. Yvon and the Pittsburgh crew were missed though.
Also just wondering, did Bo sound especially badass last night? Seems like they're stretching songs in new spots (beginning and between the verses of Dondante, earlier in Lay Low) and he has more opportunities to stand out a bit. Maybe it was just me but at least half a dozen times last night I caught myself thinking "Damn Bo!".

I agree, he is sounding better and better all the time and featured a bit more I think which is a good thing!

He actually apologized and tried talking but he just freaks me out, I gave him one of the baseball cards in the hopes he'd just leave me alone. Worked for the most part.
Holy SHIT, that guy? And he was sitting right next to you?! I think I would have had a goddamn heart attack seeing him again. Rarely have I ever felt active malice towards a person, but that kid almost wrecked that T5 show with those antics and then more nonsense during the ISM set. Good to hear he apologized, and kudos to you for being civil.
Also: YES, lots of great Bo moments at my last show, Red Rocks!

Dude, it was absolutely surreal. Hit the bathroom after Neko's set, walking back to the seats and I see him from behind but I already knew it was him. I literally stopped dead in my tracks and said "Terminal 5...the kid...Dan Im serious thats the fucking kid from T5". I dont think he believed me at first but he got a good look at him and his face registered this strange cross between shock and hilarity. When you think about it I guess the chance of running into him again would be fairly decent if he goes to a lot of shows, but it was still surreal. I was gonna shoot you a message, knew you'd get a kick out of it.

It wouldn't be that nutty to spot The Kid at a show, but to have him in the very next seat truly would be surreal. And no surprise to hear he didn't have the sense to be there for Neko's set.
guys it seems like he tried to apologize and your still bashing him? c'mon. missing neko case? they're are so many different reason why someone could miss the opening band. the seats weren't even full until 10 min before mmj started.

I didnt bash him, I said he freaks me out. I was civil, and thats more than a lot of people would be. If you witnessed the scene I think you'd have a different opinion.
SO here's my second attempt to sum up the amazing night after I somehow erased my last post...
Two unexpected East Coast shows for me. Under the "guise" of visiting my family, really hoping my mom isn't a forum member undercover.
Many Thanks to Eric M. for my front row seat next to Janecool in front of Karl!!!! Eric is one generous soul and I am so glad he wound up across the row from us, especially to high five him during Cobra and his personal request for a PWW!!!! Not enough words...
:dankk2:
I swear last night there was recognition of all the crazy bastards they see up front at shows across the country. So great to look around the pit and see so many familiar smiling faces melting and just plain loosing their sh%t. I loved seeing Penny up front landing her much deserved high five to her pickle man, Janecools intimate hand hold made me blush (did anyone get a shot?), and props to the guy at the end of the show's front row "excitement can no longer be contained" sweep during OBH, Nice Work!
This was my sixth show of the tour and let me just say it was unreal. Who ever posted the thread that all the setlists have been the same, well last night most certainly broke through that comment. Everything sounded a bit different in all the right ways, change ups, played faster, slower, teased, taunted and delivered. So Grateful I traveled through four states to get there.
Karl did indeed flash his pearly whites several times. Taking to the side stage like the guitar god he is, the slide, sax and SDMHA Petty was spot on, sounded so good.
I do believe I giggled yet again when to my amazement Tom was back to crowd, on his knees. This could have been an equipment check, but in my mind he was getting funky on the ground. He and Jim were getting cheeky during Cobra. PWW was fully reggaed out again, the bass leading the way.
Clock arms was in full effect. Patrick was on fire, blowing those drums right off the stage. I title last night "Lobster revenge".
Eric M. and I had been talking after BofA Pavilion how we both really want to see Bo let loose with some solo time on the keys. I have to say he was heard last night. I am waiting for a Robert Walters like session, which I know will be any day now.
Yimity Yammers, awe it was a soulful Jim up there. Less of a stomping night and more hip swiveling gyrating in body in face. His Egyptian like moves in Cobra cracked me up with Tom & Karl playing along, so great to get Cobra!!! I feel like he is singing more so on this tour with eyes open really connecting with the crowd. When you make eye contact with him, it feels blinding like the sun. I want to look away but Momma that's where the fun is...
Neeko, such a beautiful voice. Loved hearing SDMHA, Dolly & Kenny are great, but Stevie & Tom take the cake. Neeko and Jim were sharing the love and her back up band was awesome. It was apparent that there was much love on the tour between them all, awe!
I have to say my personal favorite moments were turning to see all the smiles on the great forum/rollcall/T5 familiar faces. I may have exchanged only brief hellos to some, but consistently such great people. MMJ fans seem to be a reflection of the band; generous, quick witted, light hearted, soulful peeps, who time and time again go out of there way for each other. Many were missed last night too, but there in spirit. I am truly touched, Part II of course.
Props and thanks to CC and gang for the rollcall this summer. Last night summarized what I hope continues from the rollcall. Similar fans, old and new who are incredibly grateful to be there, up front bouncing back the love the band is throwing at us. We all hope and expect so much in the best ways. The sacrifices from each band and crew member from their personal lives to give us great shows should be rewarded by our smiles, high fives, intimate hand holds and rockin air guitaring.
Europe anyone?
New Years, where or where are you? NYC always calls, the weather in California is not too frightful then either, just sayin... Come west young men...

Grrrrreat review, TubeTop! Makes me wish even more that I could have made it to this one.
Yeah, snufus, I bashed The Kid some, sorry. Like J said, you should have seen how this guy acted at T5. It's good that he apologized, but it still would have been weird. "Security!"

Yep... he was wearing an eddie vedder tshirt on Tuesday.
Me and Jay had the first 2 seats in the row, with our T5 friend and his buddy in the next 2... but about halfway through the show our T5 friend decided to abandon his pal, moved into the aisle, and jumped around next to me for the remainder of the show. :-\

I'm a noob on this board but I met a whole bunch of you crazy folks before the mann show and I'm a better person for it, so here I be.
Staggerlee, peafunk (and their better halves) welcomed me into their world with open arms. Like someone said in a previous post it seems like the jacket just brings together some of the coolest people around. My only regret is not joining this board earlier in the tour.
Hopefully we can all get together again for the NYC show (which better happen) and we can throw down together like the rockstars you all are.
Keep on keepin' on!

Damn straight that was us! A pleasure to meet you, peafunk.
I'm finally unspun from Tuesday night....took a couple of days :). Rockin out with Yim and the boys will tend to do that to you, as I know everyone here can relate.
The next time the boys play Merriweather you can bet I'll be hosting a pre-show rager at my place. We can walk over to the show from there. Come one, come all!

No one was bashing the dude and if anything, it's just plain hilarious that of all the seats in that venue, he sits right next to j_rud. I almost collapsed.
Everything comes full circle in the Jacket community...believe it...

I can't echo this enough as i personally feel MMJ has the most genuine fans on the planet!!! The generosity within the community of fans for this band is unreal and i have not experienced this within other bands I have followed, but that's not to say that it doesn't exist with other bands and their fans.
I love each of the fans of this band(not in a creppy way) and just wanted to tell you all!!! :dankk2:
Also looking and hoping the band does a New Years Eve show in NYC but hear some of the fans who are coming in from out of town about the costs of hotels etc. for that time of year. Hope it does happen though if not in New York somewhere close!
Had to post, mostly because of this line..."three-hour hoedown of Southern-fried beard-rock, soul power, and even a little reggae carpetbaggery."
I haven't been to the Mann in years,,,I think the last band that I saw there may have been the 10000 Maniacs. ;)

My Morning Jacket: Three torrid hours at the Mann
August 25, 2011|By Jonathan Valania, For The Inquirer
Opening for a band that draws seven or eight times as many people as you do seems like a no-brainer. After all, if you win over just a quarter of the crowd, you've more than doubled your draw in this particular market.
The downside is that nobody shows up for the opening act at a rock show. Never has, never will. Tuesday night at the Mann Center was no exception. Neko Case opened for My Morning Jacket and delivered a game but faintly glum set to mostly empty seats - too bad, because she is worthy of a capacity crowd.
Those seats were completely filled with stubbly, red-eyed young men, and the women who go to concerts with them, by the time My Morning Jacket took the stage and kick-started a sweaty, ebullient, three-hour hoedown of Southern-fried beard-rock, soul power, and even a little reggae carpetbaggery.
Ten years on, the band's star continues to rise. The last time through it played Penn's Landing, and before that the TLA, and the days when it played the Khyber are many beards ago, back before the truce between indie rock and Jam Band Nation was declared at the Bonnaroo Line. The reason is simple: Live, My Morning Jacket is an unstoppable force of nature.
Fronted by the irrepressible Jim James - fuzzy-faced, Buddha-bellied, rocking a cape and a Cousin Itt haircut, whirling about the stage dervishly with a towel over his head - MMJ made it abundantly clear that they were playing for keeps, slathering bruising he-man riffage and bombastic beats with ethereal harmonies, sounding as if Lynyrd Skynyrd had swallowed Big Star whole.
"Smokin' From Shootin' " was epic, something-to-write-home-about stuff. "Phone Went West" was positively apostolic. "Highly Suspicious" was all crazy-sexy Princely funk on the verses and skull-splitting, Flying V-fired axemanship on the choruses. "Golden" was just that, a reminder that it remains their greatest song.
Reverb has always been My Morning Jacket's best friend. Wednesday night it was practically a sixth band member, multiplying exponentially the cavernous overtones of the Mann's domed ceiling. When James opened his mouth to let loose one of those long, ghostly falsetto whoops that seem to stretch from here to eternity, you really began to get a sense of what infinity sounds like.
Still, there were a few wet firecrackers. "Holding On to Black Metal" never quite reached the satanic majesty its title promises, and a duet between Case and James on Tom Petty's "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" was not nearly as awesome as it sounds on paper. But by the time they got to the fist-pumping, show-closing "One Big Holiday," after nearly three hours of stomping on the terra, all that was soon forgotten.
