Really dig the idea of IWSYS as a closer. Must have been intense.
And wow, that is one prompt setlist posting. Thanks!
i will sing you songs was NOT PLAYED. the show ended with holiday.
I have phenomenal shots from front row dead center. too tired. the jacket kicked our ass tonight. good night.
Seeing IWSYS on the setlist & then hearing it getting nixed was like being punched in the stomach!
This show was worth it if only for the SICK ASS version of Dondante. Best way I can describe it is 1.5 versions: Started w/ guitar solo->u had me worried->end jam minus sax->back to beginning->u had me worried->end jam->extended sax solo.
Also the same Crazy Horse-ish extended jam to Laylow as in Seattle & an extended jam at the end of OBH. Def good energy from the band & the crowd...but damn would have loved to have heard IWSYS! Been 4 years.

Yowza! I hear ya about seeing that on the setlist. I wish that you had gotten it. Though nixed, it's the coolest setlist idea/change up I've seen since T5 and I hope they continue to try and experiment.
That Dondante sounds special. Look forward to hearing a recording.
this is my favourite setlist of the tour so far. i can only hope toronto gets one just as good. sounds like it was an amazing show.
any insight as to why IWSYS was cut? Time, vibe, crowd, ?
Time I think is the only reason. The crowd was pumped and because they were the band was too.
An I Will Sing You Songs closer would have been COMPLETELY AWESOME, and I am sad to know that the potential was there and was missed -- but glad because the universe might have imploded.
I will second the motion that the Dondante was VERY awesome....the just started the jam and then went into the whole song, with the jam again like nothing happened. it was so great. The show ended at around 10:50 so not much time to put I will Sing in there..
Great vibe great energy.
But the did play The Way That He Sings, right? Getting that and Wonderful Man and Anytime again looks pretty sweet!

thats my fav too!
One more thing about this show, I wasnt much of a Wonderl(The Way I Feel) fan, but hearing it live, what a moment. It was prefectly done and so beautiful.
I've got a vid of Yim doing his best James Brown impression. It's the only vid I have of the show.

Wordless>Day Is Coming>Anytime>OBH closer? sweet. Mixed up Dondante? :o
why do i not see IWSYS on the setlist posted in the first thread?
Yaaaaa, wait a minute, that original setlist photo has been altered! IWSYS was definitely there in the picture posted immediately after the show.
my friend has a setlist. its still on that one! ;D
they photoshopped it out....they did it this morning. I noticed too.
still reeling from the show.....wishing my two show run wasnt over. they are nowhere near me now for ages. Such an amazing band.
sneaky bastids!
hi all. nothing nefarious, i promise. i woke up and saw they didn't actually play 'i will sing' so i fixed it for posterity's sake. i'm sad vancouver didn't get to hear it but admittedly a tad relieved i don't have to be to completely jelly that i wasn't there.
cool bits from vancouver show:
--they didn't hang the circuital-lamp-eye banner at this show. don't know if it was a creative or logistical decision. instead, m.j. lighted the back of the stage, illuminating the recessed areas with soft light. in trying to describe this i am out of my technical depth, so let's just say: GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS. :o
--during Gideon jim wasn't playing a guitar. don't know what went on here. there was one song that patrick playing the opening beat for a long time before the band kicked in. clearly something was being sorted out on stage. may have been this song... it was funny to see tom & carl looking off stage right watching.
so, the delay may have been a diff song, but at the top of Gideon i didn't hear jim's guitar part but thought it might have been a sound issue. then i noticed jim was walking the stage, singing with mic in hand.
cool to see those moments of adapting on stage. (at the seattle show [i think...] jim's mic fell out of the mic stand during one song. he walked across the stage, still singing, and continued singing into carl's mic. carl was playing the pedal steel.)
--obh: this is one of the most fun versions of this i've seen. meaning the band was having a great time! carl, tom & jim all caught air. so many jumps! bo was conducting at one point: playing with his left hand, moving his right in the air and singing. (was this the song in which jim did a 2nd knee slide and ended up on his back? can't remember. couldn't see him, but could see the rest of the band watching him. hilarious ;D )
ok. few more nerdy bits:
bh, wordless -> day is coming was beautiful! uplifting 1-2!
--there was no "good intentions" scream at the end of tmpt2
the vancouver show was the first i'd seen by myself in awhile. the only bummer about that is turning to the dude next to you and saying, "wow! they haven't played this in awhile!" and getting a patient, but stoned stare. ;D also didn't get much response when dondante was taking an unusual shape. i looked up at him and asked, "WHAT?!" nice guys, but other than offering me a hit of a joint, not social. ;)
after the show scanned the crowd for la barba dc and got the confirmation of the epic radness i was looking for.
restless: fab pix!
about that dondante: profound chills. sweet jesus.
post-game with La Barba included bonus Fantasy Island content. (no tater tots to be found, tho.)
Hey everybody, just created my account yesterday, so this is my first post. I've written a review of the show for Green Couch Sessions and you can see it here. http://greencouchproductions.com/blog/category/reviews/ (http://greencouchproductions.com/blog/category/reviews/)
Cheers to restlesssoul for letting me use his picture!

great review my friend
Thanks darkglow! You commented earlier on the page too. I guess you weren't there, I just saw you're from Florida, so you can ignore my response. It was really too easy to write though, the show pretty much wrote itself. It amazes me how many times they can re-establish themselves as the giants on stage that they are.
Glad everyone likes the pics......and great reviews by you guys, I feel like I relive the show each time I read them.
Just got back to Sacramento. All I can say right now is that that was the most amazing Dondante I have ever heard. And I met Jim James. And I am in heaven.
