I haven't seen anything about this on the forum yet....
On her debut disc, The Ghost Who Walks, Karen Elson spins intriguingly unsettling tales of lost love, dashed hope, romantic betrayal and various crimes of passion witnessed only by the full moon. In a coolly inviting voice, strumming an acoustic guitar, she summons up a dark yet seductive atmosphere, an after-midnight world that's irresistibly alluring. The arrangements for her small band – featuring the virtuosic Jackson Smith on guitar, Elson's Citizens Band co-hort Rachelle Garniez on accordion and vocals, The Dead Weather's Jack Lawrence on bass, My Morning Jacket's Carl Broemel on pedal steel and producer Jack White on drums – evoke the lonesome feel of country ("Cruel Summer"), the tormented side of the blues ("The Truth Is In the Dirt"), or the haunted stories of traditional folk balladry ("Stolen Roses").

Yeah i've waited for an mmj jack white collaboration pretty much my entire life. ;D
Wonder if he'll do any of the tour dates with her?
I heard that whole album on a stream somewhere. It sounded really good.
Original thread on this from March, includes a video w/Carl sitting in background.

Did not know Carl was on this record but listened to it 5 or 6 times the other day and I was really digging it. Now that I know Carl is on it it is that much better!

Just saw she's coming to Chicago in June! Can't wait to check her out.
Does anyone have any info on Carl touring with them?
Will you be there, twofingers? We should meet up! :)
The record is really surprisingly good. Well done, Karen.
Yeah I'm going to snag a ticket for sure. ALady, I'm way into meeting up! Grab a drink, talk tunes, etc.
As the date draws nearer we should solidify something.
Sweet, sounds good! :)
ALady, going to Alberta Cross at Schuba's tonight by any chance? I've got an extra ticket to get rid of if you're interested, not sure if you're into them.
I am, actually ;D All good for tickets. Maybe I'll see you there!

I'm truly astounded. Like I told ALady, I only listened out of curiosity because she's Jack White's wife but it's got this great vintage sound, there's a certain mystique about it.
Can't wait to see her!
and MJK--she's a RED HEAD.....ewwwwwwwwwwwww awwwwwwwwwwwwww
this is awesome--go Carl

If you Google her (that what she said) then you will find better pictures than that. I was trying to keep it PG for the kiddos.

A 2 liter of that schtuff from me.
A friend of mine saw her do a set at Third Man records in Nashville last night and said Carl wasn't backing her :-/ I'd have thought that if he did any of her tour dates, he might do that one. Oh well.
how was she live none the less?
He said she was surprisingly good for a frontwoman who doesn't move around a lot ;D I'll have my own report in a couple weeks.
