Just got my Roll Call tix. Worked very well, I got front row, dead center reserved. Looks like there will be a GA PIT there too, but Ilike the reserved seats. This will be my 3rd MMJ this year, so excited.
This show announcement makes me pine for G'boro. I used to live there 1994-1996, went to UNC-G for bio teach cert. Great school.
Have fun!
Though my credit card bill will pain me in a month .... Had to do it, since my Charlotte show got cut short. This will kind of make up for it, and War Memorial is a great venue.
Flying solo to this one, got one of the last two pit tickets. Can't Wait!
When do regular tickets go on sale?

When do regular tickets go on sale?
This Friday (9/23)
7th row, center section. I'll take it.
Wonder how big the Pit area is here? Looks like a nice place by the pictures, anyone been to it??
Will be there in the PIT with a +1, so psyched to catch them twice more this year.
The seating chart doesn't show the pit. Just grabbed a row B seat off the Greensboro Coliseum's presale (password BLACKMETAL). So I imagine my seat will be about 5-6 rows back depending on how big the pit area is.
I saw one seating chat with a pic, also check out this picture, I think it shows the pit:

you can see kind of the gate or box around it

When I did the "select your ticket" on roll call, the pit had three rows of about 12 seats each. So by that account, not big. I have been to War Memorial, it is a cool venue. Holds about 2,500 give or take. Theatre atmosphere, should be a great show.
wow... that place seems tiny!
i did the mailing list presale and the only option was the pit.. wish i would have researched this..
*edit*: oops, got this confused with Boca Raton. mailing list presale is slim pickings but i just got center orchestra, row F just off center.
like someone said above, password is: blackmetal but you have to go through ticketmaster.

Having to go solo to this one..I'm in A5 with soundcheck as well. Look forward to seeing you there!
Got two: right center orchestra row M from the email deal (artistarena.com) Anyone else get their's from this? Was so psyched when I found out they were coming close to home as I missed Charlotte last month!!
I just left Charlotte and now Im back up NE but I think its great they are getting back in that area so soon after the Charlotte show. What class!! Sorry I wont be there but I am sure glad to be in the NE when their is a NY show in Dec!!
Yeah I selected the soundcheck and clicked on the PIT area and it comes up as three rows of seats AAA - CCC and was able to snag a couple, and in the confirmation e-mail it had (PIT) in listed with the seats. So something tells me it will not be seated for the show which is a good thing.
I just hope there is no curfew for shows like in Charlotte this year and Atlanta last year.
Is it GA in pit? I thought it was. I like the looks of the place and hope we get a nice 3 hour show.
No curfew with indoor venues in NC, unless this venue has some crazy policy.

I got burned with a 10:15 curfew at the Charlottesville show, and have been left wanting more ever since. Can't wait for this one. I am hitting up G-Boro and MSG, thinking they will be two great, different shows.
Does any one know why they are actually sending out the tickets from Artist Arena for this show? I didn't get an e-mail regarding MSG, but for some reason these are no longer will call.

Talked to one of the guys at Artist Arena, he merely repeated what was on the e-mail. "Logistic reasons." Maybe that meant they weren't going to have enough people working the windows or maybe they didn't have enough will call windows and they feared long lines would mess the flow of things up. Not really sure.
He did tell me that the show and soundcheck were two different things. We'll get our tickets for the show in the mail, but soundcheck info will be e-mailed to us a week before the show.

Has anyone received Greensboro tickets in the mail yet?
i have not, now that you mention it
None here either.
Nope. Actually just thought of that last night. Glad I'm not the only one. Might send an email to Artist Arena to see what the dilly is.
Nothing received yet.
I bought mine during the 2nd presale and I thought I remember will call being the only option for it.

I have two great tickets for this show that I will no longer be able to use. Section Orchestra/Center, Row F, Seats 10 and 11.
Selling for face value which was $120 for the pair after fees.
PM if you are interested, thanks!
pm sent..if anyone else has availability for Greensboro let me know. Thought it would be tough for a Monday but luckily scheming a work trip
While the Jacket are currently burning up Europe, just wanted to post on here for all the peeps and peepettes going to the Gboro show. I know there was an email that went out a while back saying our tickets were going to be mailed instead of being picked up at will call and then ... nothing.
Anyway, I just received an email saying the tix were sent out yesterday. Not sure what really happened there, but as long as I get em. Everyone should be receiving the same email, but just wanted to post the update.
Less than a month!!!!!
may go to make up for likely missing MSG, does anyone have hotel/hangout recommendations? nearby good beer spots? good food?
I actually checked airfare but... :-\
Still searching for tickets to Greensboro if anyone hears anything.....keep me in mind. Thanks!

Kudos to Clark for hooking me up. I got 3 tickets with a friend I flew across the country 2007 to drag him to see a band he had never heard of before at the Orange Peel.. My Morning Jacket. I'm so glad we got a pre-Evil Urges (with hair) show. What an epic night. Since then him and I have seen them at Red Rocks (awesome) and Cary (eh). Looking forward to next Monday, big time.

Natty Greene's (local microbrewery) might be a good spot to meet up, tasty brews, good eats in a nice stretch of bars there. Up n coming brewery in NC. From what I can tell is it very close to the Greensboro Coliseum complex

Still waiting on email myself. Same here on natty greene's meetup..I also am in Charlotte and went to the one in Greensboro over the summer...definitely good beer. Matter of fact, just finished a southern pale ale. Count me in, if it happens.
Natty Greene's it is then. I'll be there probably 5-7 or so until my two friends show up. I've had luck meeting up with board members before and I know there are a few of us rolling solo. I'll be wearing and old wool brown concert hat, or atleast have it sitting by me at the bar. Feel free to text me (Dave) at Nine One Oh - two eight six, nine one six one.
Website says the show starts at 8, is that doors or when Delta Spirit come on? BTW, I've seen Delta Spirit a few times and they kill, at least in small venues.

Will be down To Natty's after the Soundcheck that begins at 5:00 pm, so probably will last until 6ish. I think doors are at 7:00 pm and Delta starts at 8:00 IIRC. OK, so bear with me here, it's 1:30 a.m. and I just rolled back into Charlotte. Might get a little long-winded because I'm operating on a good amount of caffeine. To sum it up, the guys absolutely set fire in Greensboro. Just an amazing show. Energy was high, acoustics were incredible and the band really played and fed off the crowd.
To start off, now, I won't take full credit, but all I'm saying is that I did send this tweet out to the band this morning:
Matt_McKenzie1
Hey @mymorningjacket - since you're playing at War Memorial Coliseum tonight, it's only right we get War Begun. Looking fwd to the show!
Ask, and you shall receive. One of the highlights of my night, hadn't heard WB since Myrtle Beach. And it was spectacular!
As far as the soundcheck goes, it was pretty cool once we got in (lot of standing around to begin). They checked If All Else Fails, Easy Morning Rebel and I'll Be Home For Christmas. Easy Morning Rebel sounded fantastic, and that's when I knew the sound/acoustics were going to be great inside War Memorial. Jim said I'll Be Home meant a lot to the guys because they were nearing the end of the tour and looking forward to seeing their families during the holidays. Maybe that's what had them giddy during the show because as I stated, they really played off each other and the fans, which made for a great time.
Some highlights:
1. Of course, War Begun.
2. I was glad to see the setlist continued to be mixed up (i.e. no Victory Dance>Circuital>OTR to open the shows anymore. Hadn't seen It Beats 4 U in a while, just a reminder on how great that song is.
3. LOVIN the new extended jams on Golden and Touch Me Part 2. The guys really let loose tonight.
4. Best Easy Mornin Rebel I've ever heard, they killed it on that one.
5. Jim and Carl interacted a lot with us in the pit (which was a great party, everyone was groovin on down). There was a girl in front of where I was sitting who got a lot of love from Jim; he even did the E.T. finger touch with a few fans.
6. Was able to snag a setlist and got a Tom pick (both firsts for me).
Full setlist is below. The only one they didn't play was Nashville to Kentucky, likely because of said extended jams. All in all a tremendous show. I was a little let down the last show around these parts (Charlotte, which had to be cut short due to lightning, which was certainly not the band's fault, but still), but this more than made up for it. I have a feeling they're going to ride this hotness into Madison Square Garden, so you folks up north are going to be in for a treat.
P.S. I also am attaching a pic with my take-home goodies for the evening. Autographed soundcheck poster is a great thing, and I thought the local poster was pretty well done as well.
Setlist
1. Victory Dance
2. It Beats 4 You
3. First Light
4. I'm Amazed
5. Outta My System
6. WAR BEGUN
7. Golden
8. You Wanna Freak Out
9. Smokin From Shootin
10. End of Run Thru
11. Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Part 2
12. Movin Away
13. Off the Record
14. Gideon
15. Easy Mornin Rebel
Encore
Nashville to Kentucky
16. Circuital
17. Wordless Chorus
18. Day is Coming
19. Holdin on To Black Metal
20. One Big Holiday

I saw tapers, at least three. Don't remember the guy's name that did the Charlotte show but I'm pretty sure he was there. This was our 5th show and in the small venue it was by far the loudest. Great to finally see them in NC without curfews and noise ordinances. Great times had by all

Bump to move this to the top.
Show was right at 2 hours, not that short of a set.
The show was fantastic IMO third time seeing them and this was best show yet. THe pit was heaven. not sure how i got a pit ticket as it was not through club etc. just got it on ticketmaster week after show went on sale. but was dead center 3rd row.
I would have to rate this show a top 10. I compared the energy to early Pearl Jam concerts and early Who and Skynyrd concerts.
Jim voice was excellent last night and set list was killer IMO. they could play 3 hours shows but doubt it would be good for his voice.
PEdal steel guitar was killer. Drummer energy spilled out to rest of band. Bass player is a stoic as John Entwhislte. Jim seem to play off of crowd with lots of interaction.
a great overall show and peps around me all amazed.
Nice to meet ups with folks from here.

Thanks NSL for the recording of a great show. Was that you in the UNCC (Charlotte) sweater? And I agree, not a short set at all. Got some extended jams that lengthened some songs, all in all, great show.
I just sent this note to a few friends, trying to put in words which is an impossible feat with a show like this. But I tried:
(for context, there were three of us, my buddy A and his girlfriend J...We had two front row seats and another toward the back, Row S....we were in a flow of rotation until the encore)
I can't even begin to describe the ecstasy of doing up the parking lot with A and J, floating into the small auditorium (2400 seats) down to the front row. J and I took first front row shift for Victory Dance and our eyes and brains were melded into one with MMJ The intro beats, the crescendo, the trumpet victory call....should i close my eyes, should i lift the dirt and plant the seed even though ive never grown, should i believe in my own good work?, my good work? my good work.......beats......chills.....lookin down, I can see, I can see potential, speaking through you, to you...for all of heavesn possibilities.....beats....power.....you know how it works....the meek shall inherit the earth, you should work.....family......TRUMPET CALL.... the uproar the green lights the movement the words the crashes Jim's circuitbreaker tone machine around his neck.....taste the warpaint......I too hope to watch the victory dance after in the evenings setting sun....setting sun.. hope to dance the victory dance..setting sun.......
My memories have sparked reading the setlist. War Begun, can't even begin to describe. I think I may have been in the aisle and made my first attempt at bumrushing the front row. J took a turn about 3 rows up in the aisle for this one, taking one for the A and Rowdy (me)team. We crushed it with air guitars, etc and had a dual guitar rift orgasm at the peak.
Easy Morning Rebel was a overlooked jam for me, from It Still Moves which I've listened to only 400 times. Amazing how you can just miss a song withouth imagining it being played. Give it a relisten and open the last jam up in your minds eye. Wow.
For me though, the encore was a shockingly spiritual experience, on so many levels. I really felt like the girl who gave me a fat tire from their "keg" in the parking lot, set me up with a surprise treat.
Security had cracked down a little after our trip to the smoking lot. J and Big A made it down to front seats but I decided to hang out in the aisle.....I was routed over the right center and was concerned I was stuck. Paranoia sets in.
Circuital is playing. What is this song about? Our increasing blind reliance on technology and how it will affects us? There are people with phones, facebooking, tweeting, putting pictures of me on the web as we speak. I was concerned about the direction we are headed. What is the endgame if we do nothing and let a handful of men have their way with our world? Will we start microchipping people, tracking every move? What will things like when my son grows up, in high school, college...what sort of upbringing is best, embracing technology and putting him into the system to figure it out from the inside? or do we withdraw a bit to the farm, get away from the grid, maybe up to Canada. Maybe I should tell all my family and friends that if you ever feel like you have been dragged down into a circuital lifestyle and need to get back on the farm, I'll always hold down a space on a lake for you to feel welcome. Again, I'm on cloud nine but listening to Circuital and I feel like I need to further question the path we are headed.
CIrcuital ends, and I break the spell, cruising right passed security down to the front row where I get in behind A and J and tell them to STAY. Screw the security, they won't do shit. And they didn't, so the three of us get to enjoy the musical run of our lives.
Coming off the paranoia, Worldless Chorus took on a whole new meaning. Jim calmed me down and helped me understand what was going on. The wordless chorus is one that all of us are singing inside.
......pulling at our heartstrings about how there is so much going on these days.... we got into this mess from forgetting about love, and leaving us brokenhearted. Sing it, Jim, scream it, swoon with it, help us understand Jim. WOOOOOO oh EEAYYY EIAYYEA ya YA de HA. WOOO! WOOO HOOOO WOOOOO. Man.
We will need to understand what is going onSince the Day is Coming, the Day is Near. The way is clear... For us to make a choice to fulfill that potential from Victory Dance. What will we do when that day comes? It might just be a day in the life of the individual or all of us........
From my childhood, my love for the creativity and anti top 40 was sparked by metal, plain and simple. I started off in a traditional late 80s butt rock (my embarassing obession with Poison, Def, Motley Crue then some legitimacy with Metallica....then I got a hold of Slayer, Sepultura (closer to black metal) and the likes and was enamored at what would bring normal midwestern kids to make this sort of music. Creativity and freedom hold no boundaries, even if society tells us NO. No organization holds that right over individual creativity (if you are doing no harm). Black Metal is indeed misunderstood.
So....it was a stretch but it indeed held logical space in my mind. We hit the Day and we need to Hold onto Black Metal, understanding that if we fulfill the promise of creativity and potential and are ready to act when the day comes.....
We end up eliminating corporate influence in the direction of the world. We balance the feminine influence, eliminating wars, and anything that does harm in the pursuit of profit. Imagine all the people, living life in peach. We (or our grandchildren) will then get to enjoy a world jam to.....
One Big Holiday. If we indeed holler loud (make our wordless voices heard) and make our way (live by example), we (and those that come after us) will get to enjoy one big holiday
Goes without saying....This tiny War Memorial Auditorium (for MMJ) theater erupts, security left the building, beautiful chaos ensued.
Close curtains.
Was great to seem them indoors, in an audtorium built (albeit several decades ago) for sound, without curfews, noise restrictions or anything to hold them back.
Top 10 shows for me for certain and for context off the top of my head : Stones 03, White Stripes Detroit 05, Raconteurs tour 07-08, MMJ Asheville 07, Mars Volta Boulder 07, White Stripes Myrtle 07, MMj Black Keys Red Rocks 08, MMJ Greensboro 11 Honorable mention Dylan MMJ Telluride 07, Dan Auerbach 09...to name a few.
I've since tested my theories and philosophical rant in my head and I think I made strides in understanding some of MMJ lyrics, which I had previous overlooked. Some of it admittedly was a stretch but if you read the lyrics to each song closely, it really does make you think.
I love MMJ.

Bump to move this to the top.
Show was right at 2 hours, not that short of a set.
Thanks NSL for the recording of a great show. Was that you in the UNCC (Charlotte) sweater? And I agree, not a short set at all. Got some extended jams that lengthened some songs, all in all, great show.
Yep that was me, black uncc hoodie. Where was your seat?

Yeah, that kid was tripping me out. But that's how the music gets you ... I was lost myself a few times during MMJ, especially when they broke out War Begun (I was able to identify my yell thanks to your recording).

Show was good, but not great. The pacing of the setlist was off an I felt like Jim and Co. were a bit tired after the Florida shows. Of the 14 Mmj sets I've seen, I rank it around #12. I actually thought Charlotte was a lot better, even with the rain delays.
"War Begun" and "Easy Morning" were excellent, along with the "Smokin" jam. I was one of the lucky pit members who caught a setlist (via airplane). If you were around me, you heard me getting pissed they cut "Nashville". It makes zero sense to cut a 21 song set to 20. Makes me really miss the Evil Urges tour (ha! Right?) when they did the "Evening with..." billing.
