My Morning Jacket by Scott Compton (Boing Boing Video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw2kiIMP1lY#ws)
"On June 24, My Morning Jacket (http://www.mymorningjacket.com/forum/../gogo/) descended on Oakland's historic Fox Theater for an epic performance in support of their majestic album, Circuital (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004W9CG6Q/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=boingboing0e-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B004W9CG6Q). Remedy Editorial (http://remedyeditorial.com/)'s Scott Compton (http://twitter.com/#%21/SCremedy) and his merry band of video documentarians made the scene on behalf of Boing Boing. You'll remember Scott and crew as the artistes who brought The Swell Season (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmCctJJQ7Yk#ws) and The Decemberists (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjlijHTg5iI#ws) to the big little screen for Boing Boing Video. We are now honored to feature their loving cut of My Morning Jacket, interviewed and live in concert on June 24, 2011. "

i wish more bands had this viewpoint on file sharing and a love for vinyl like this one...i totally agree with the point jim made about it being vinyl at home and digital for the road...exactly the way i feel too
Oh man! This is just a taste of how epic that show was! You can see me rockin' out to Off The Record on this video!
Man I really don't need to see a 21 minute interview while I'm at the library trying to study. Damn

I haven't even watched it yet. I'm in the middle of teaching Julius Caesar. I'll have to wait until the students go home.
What an awesome video. Very well shot. That version of Black Metal with the PHJB simply kills.

so nice to see our friend danz rocking out at the end of Victory Dance!
It's like two of my favorite things combined (huge BB reader and Doctorow fan)

They had 6 cameras rolling, according to the article. I emailed the writer of the article and asked him if there were any plans to put this out on Blu-Ray or DVD. I haven't received a response yet. I need a copy of this video! Is there any way to rip HD off of youtube?
Whoa! Caught DanZ and his fancy hair before I read this!
Awesome to see a video and see 1 of your friends rocking out.

Yes. Keepvid.com and Streamtransport might work. I'll look into it tonight and post the file if successful. I also used to be able to download YouTube vids using Realplayer, but it mysteriously stopped working when I got Windows 7 and IE9 64-bit.
EDIT- I'm downloading a 1080p HD version now. Its just over 500 MB and I will upload it tonight when I get home from work. I used keepvid.com. Copy and paste the url of the video from YouTube into the keepvid url bar. Be sure you chose the 1080p version. Click "Download" and save the 1080p mp4 file to your computer. Here at work, its estimating 20 minutes to completion. At home, it'd probably take less than 5 minutes.

Also, the guy that made the video is following me on twitter now. I'll tweet him when I get home - damn school filter- and see if he can give me more details of how/if we can see the rest of the footage.

John is the one who uploaded this; I just look at boing boing obsessively. Also, the guy who made the film Scott Compton @SCremedy tweeted me @insertcardfully back. He wanted to know about the board. I directed him to this thread. It sounds like he is also really a huge fan of the band, as if it isn't obvious from the awesome film he made. Perhaps he will share some more of his footage with us. Since his film was under a creative commons license, it shouldn't be a problem that we've ripped it and made it available for us to download (hopefully).
DAN DAN DAN DAN DAN DANZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
That was awesome, and such a lovely treat on this dreary day! Thanks!
People of Earth:
Hello good folks and fans of MMJ. Scott Compton here, the guy who did the MMJ video for BB.
Myself and my crew at Remedy Editorial are blown away by the positive response, but as I said in the article - the guys were "as advertised". Funny, chill, grounded and talented.
We shot a certain number of songs, not the entire show. As to additional material, we're riding with what we've got for the time being. Gotta make a living you know. The more this gets out there, the more interest will build and maybe we can see if this sucker can get into other venues, etc. It's all good that you downloaded the clip, it's there to be enjoyed! But do me a favor and spread the word of the link too please!

Awesome, awesome, awesome video Scott. :)
Thanks a bunch Scott! That was brilliantly done. Just can't keep the cameras of danz 8)

Mr. Scott Compton,
Ever since I witnessed that epic show at the Fox Theatre on June 24th, I have been looking for any evidence that one of the greatest performances I have ever seen any band execute actually happened. I was beginning to give up hope that documentation (audio or video) of this show existed. And then I came across your video. While watching it, my face melted all over again. It's a good thing I could recognize myself during the early part of the show (Off The Record) because by the time the Preservation Hall Jazz Band took the stage, I was completely wrecked. The video of PHJB is phenomenal and the sound is great! We need an official bootleg of this show!
I just wanted to thank you personally for bringing this video to all of us MMJ nuts. Even if it's just a few songs from the show, you really display the beautiful Fox Theatre and the band very well. Again, thank you for giving me a souvenir of one of the best shows I've ever attended.

Well Scott, I see that haven't stripped you naked yet. We hope you'll stick around! Anyone with your talent will be a great addition to this board.

You ever read any of Doctorow's other works? His compilation, "Content" is a must-have for anyone interested in the future of creatiity, Creative Commons, and the general shenanigans surrounding Copyright.
Oh how beautiful, thank you so much for this Mr. Scott Compton! Excellent work! :D
Nothing short of awesome, Mr. Compton. Thanks so much and welcome to the wonderful world of Jacket fans - keep up the good work. And, as always, thanks to John for packaging it pretty and gifting it to us. Cheers!
