Ok I need your help. (This is also my first post so bear with me please ;)) I found some floor tickets for the Nashville show at memorial gym for $100. My mind is in a constant battle: $100 dollar tickets for a show that is probably going to have bad acoustic and a bad crowd but then again its a MY MORNING JACKET show! Your input would be greatly appreciated!
Stay home and watch Lord of the Rings trilogy instead. Spend the $100 on Sour Patch Kids and buffalo wings.

Looking back, I'd probably pay $100 for my first MMJ show, that was special. I also dished out a pretty hefty price for the Circuital Release show in Louisville. Would pay that and more to go back in time and go to a T5 show or their NYE at MSG show. However, a regular show for a college group who may or may not (NOT!) be there to actually enjoy good music, I wouldn't dish out nearly that much. I'll be going cause I was lucky enough to get regular priced tickets, but I'll come back to this thread post-show and tell you how terrible it was and how little you missed out on. ;)

I went to the alpharetta Ga concert which was my first My Morning Jacket concert and had the epitome of a good time. The people around me were awesome and I was on the front row! It was truly magical so I'm afraid that if I go to this show it will somehow diminish my overall My Morning Jacket concert experience... Curse my indecisiveness!
I don't think going to this show will diminish your enjoyment at all. The music is still the music. The band's charisma is still there no matter what. I'm going and I'm going to have a great time. I'm not happy about the venue, but I'm over it. Go if you want to or don't go if you don't. I've had to sit out a show on occasion and I've regretted it. These things only come around so often. However, only you know how much you really want to go. Deep down you know what you want to do. Do it.
The Nashville roll call is somewhere around 13+ just from people on the forum, and I guarantee there are a lot of other fans who will be coming in from around the south who don't go to Vandy.
I may be wrong, but I think the first several rows will be full of people who are there for the band and nothing else. I'd say (depending on your drive time) get the tickets and JOIN US.

My first show I was so far back, yet it was the best experience ever and ended up costing damn near $100 each. I paid a bit more for 4th row in Birmingham. If you can afford it, and especially if its close by, I'd say go for it. If I had a Jacket show close to home, any day of the week, I'd be there.

I'd highly doubt it takes away from any part of your admiration and love for the band. An MMJ show is an MMJ show and is guaranteed to be an awesome night. While the crowd at the Lexington show was definitely sub-par, I still had an amazing night, cause I was on the rail, in my own zone. If you think you can reasonably afford it, have at it. $100 would be out of my budget, but your budget is up to your discretion.
probably shouldnt speak too much about this but you could buy a regular ticket on the lower level and use your motivation as a fan to "find a way" on the floor. whether that be sneaking or getting someone to give you their ticket stub after they get in for you to use as you "come back from the bathroom" or something.. just a thought.
You need to go and bring as many friends as possible to dilute the "sluts and tough guys" factor that will no doubt be there for the wrong reasons :beer: That said, I attended one MMJ show where the acoustics just weren't working, the vibe was off (I believe Yim might have mentioned something to the effect of not feeling like himself that night) and the crowd sucked. MMJ found a way to overcome this and eventually settled into a weird funky groove that resulted in some very memorable moments that I would have been bummed to miss.
Assuming you can afford it, no question - you should go. You never know what you might miss out on. You'll be at home or where ever else stewing, wondering, regretting...

This seems an appropriate place to mention that I bought three tickets that were supposed to be 36 dollars apiece, but I looked at my receipt today and noticed that I only paid 90 dollars total for all three tickets. How the fuck did that happen?
