I just want to wish my forum brethren and sistren (?) the best during this holiday season and happiness in the New Year.
By itself, the forum has provided me with ideas for good music, food, movies, TV, music, sports, politics, music, comedy, music, music, and music.
But, perhaps more importantly, I've found some really special people from all over this world who share one singular thing - a love of My Morning Jacket.
The great thing is, due to this common thread (or in spite of it), this place has attracted some of the nicest, coolest, most honest and sincere and NORMAL people I've ever met.
Keep it up!
Love,

And, while I could use MMJ here, I'll use this instead. The lyrics say it well. Thanks for this, headhunter. Great album!

I think you've expressed exactly what I feel about the people on this forum. Have a great holiday and a wonderful new year!
Back at you Johnny, one of the coolest here! :)
Happy Holidays to ALL!
Well said, John. May sound corny to some, but my life has truly been enriched (more than I can express in words) because of MMJ and this forum.
MERRY EVERYTHING AND CHEERS TO 2012!
All of the above peoples! Love this place!

I got a good feeling about this one.
/I probably just cursed it.
I've gotta work tonight and Christmas, overnight shifts. Sucks! My family home is 3 hours away, so no Christmas with mom, again (I'll be heading home on Boxing Day)! However, I'll be drinking on the job tonight at around midnight while watching Alastair Sim's Scrooge. Hopefully I'll get visited by Ebeneezer's three ghosts in person. Humbug! Tomorrow I may go skating at city hall's outdoor rink during my mealbreak while getting paid double-time-and-a-half. Tis the season.
Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Chanukah! I don't always chime in on all the threads, so best wishes to those with new family additions and battling health issues. Have a healthy and great 2012!
Happy Holidays all! Best wishes for 2012

HAPPY HOLIDAYS YINZ!!! Yinz is right, I had to drop the ya'll for a brief interval, as I snuck back home to Pittsburgh tonight after work and surprised the living crap out of my family :-X :-X :-X
I tip-toed through the sitting room and the kitchen, and when I went to turn the corner into the living room, I saw everyone still awake hanging out, and I piped up with "Iiiiiiiiii'lllll be hooooooome, for Christmaaaaaassss.... yooooooooouuu can coouuuuunnntt, on meeeeeeee........" And havoc cut loose from then on :D
I was on my lunch break xmas eve, when my grandma left the sweetest voicemail that was pretty long..... and there was just this tone in her voice.... and I knew then that I had to start planning a quick trip back today. Gram is a-ok, but it just felt overwhelmingly important to head home this year, especially with the whole missing friend ordeal going on..........
The rest is kinda a long story, BUT, I got on the road at exactly 5:30pm, and the drive only took exactly 7 hours!! I rolled in at 12:30, to my astonishment... (It's always been exactly 8 hours!!!) Nicest drive ever..... 2 big rigs the whole time and hardly any other cars out on the road......
Now it is SO time for bed!!!
MAN IS IT GOOD TO BE HOME!!!!!
HAPPIEST HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* Love you allllll :-*
Merry Christmas everyone & all the best for 2012!
Feliz Navidad, amigos, and best wishes for 2012.
All the best kids and lets hope for a great 2012.

Merry Christmas guys n gals hope yall had a good day!
Haven't had time to post yet but my mom had a seizure when we were shopping on Friday and was in the hospital pretty much the whole holiday. However, hopefully this new med will fix this little glip in the post-stroke recovery. I've never been so scared in my life, I (literally) thought she was dying in my arms. But she's home and resting now and I took a flight back this AM. The holidays are tough, but things like this really make me appreciate any days that I have left with both of my parents and also makes me appreciate every day that I wake up. Every day is a great day to be alive.
And you know what's even better? Every day that we're alive and we get to come together to follow this wonderfully inventive and awesome band, which allows us all to gather together and get excited about the same stuff. I'm happy to geek out with all of you. I probably get a little OVER excited sometimes, but oh well. I'm very grateful to have spent so many great concert and non-concert moments with a lot of you this year. Some of you are some of my closest friends and I really love checking into this forum about 70s times a day, catching up on what you're all doing and listening to.
Happy holidays to all of you. 2011 was the blast and I look forward to a great 2012! Already counting days till Jazz Fest and Mountain Jam and any other little or big thing you all wanna congregate for. XOX
(wow, that was too f_cking sappy and long, let's get on with it, shall we!)

I'm glad your mom is better. And you are so right about cherishing every day that you have left with your parents. Sometimes illnesses make us wake up and appreciate what we have previously taken for granted. I know that I would give anything to have one more day with my father provided he was in good health. Also, your enthusiasm just makes me feel better about my own enthusiasm. Here is the place we can geek out about our love for this band and it is so nice because there really aren't many people in my daily life who do appreciate my enthusiasm.
*hugs* to you Christine. It's so lucky you were there with your mom when the seizure happened. Hopefully the new med does what it should and she can continue to recover from the stroke without any more bumps in the road. Thinking of you and your family!
I'm glad your mom is doing better. Treasure every chance you get to be with 'em.
Really hope your mom is doing better, Christine. I'll keep her in my thoughts and crossed my fingers and toes that this new med helps. Thank god you were with her when it did happen. Keep your spirits up!
And for the rest of you...I hope you all enjoyed/are enjoying the holidays! I've been so fortunate to meet so many awesome people from this forum. It really is like nothing else. I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for us!
Hey all, I haven't been on here for awhile, but I wanted to wish everyone the best NEW YEAR and an amazing NYE celebrationnnnnn!! 2012 we're finally here!!! :D :D :D :D :D Love you guys!!!
Happy New Year forum!
Happy 2012 to all!!!!
JUST SAW A SHOOTING STAR WHILE LISTENING TO ACOUSTIC CITSUOCA THE BEAR, RIGHT AS JIM SANG "TIME IS NEEEEEEEAAAARRRRRRRRR"..........
What a great way to start off the Blue Ridge Parkway NYE skywatch :) :) :)
(And it was about 30 mins before midnight :-X)
...solidarity...
I live in a place where the collective energy is in conflict with my own thoughts about the world. Though it does keep me a bit feisty (or grouchy as my wife would attest), it is mind numbing at times and the ever persistent hum of idiocy can wear me down. I like to visit the forum when I need a little sanity (or the right brand of insanity) and it makes me feel better in the same way that the bee girl felt better when she discovered the party dancing in the field in the Blind Melon No Rain video. Thanks to all of you for that and keep it coming in 2012!
