In her mind, we still owe her a New Year's show....so we thought it would be good karma to pay up on that.   :D  That, coupled with the fact that it is  next to impossible to find reliable child care on NYE, made our decision for us.  She is PSYCHED! She WILL have ear protection for this one!

Not necessarily. It's a college arena, and there could be some sort of restriction for any number of reasons. For years there were no ga floors in many arenas after people got trampled to death at The Who show in Cincinnatti. There are still some college arenas that don't do ga for security, and liability issues. They are fewer and fewer now, but it wouldn't surprise me if this remains seated.

I'm down with this seating plan. Obviously it's not ideal, but as long as Roll Callers get first crack at those prime sections, I think it'll be great! I was hoping for a GA West/GA East type deal, and this may be even better -- since there are seats, who needs coat/poster check?

For those of us going by ourselves and meeting the group there, this is a little irksome. I'll have to see what we are going to do about getting tickets together. Brooke and bluesky, I'll be pm'ing you.

No worries Fully. They'll be Roll Callers all around.

I kinda like the idea of not lining up early for an early entry at the end of December in Boston. More time to warm my bones at a nearby pub.

Actually, I do too. I'll just have to make sure that I buy tickets with someone else so that I'm sure I'm sitting someone I know.

Well so much for this theory as it appears  Jack White has a ga floor there. Floor 1 and floor 2. It looks similar to MSG's GA West/East last Dec.

Here's the official presser:

QuoteMy Morning Jacket will take the stage of the historic Capital Theater in Port Chester, NY for three consecutive nights in continuation of their Spontaneous Curation Series.  To keep with the spirit of the series, no songs will repeat for each of these performances.  The renowned landmark, built in 1926, once housed acts such as The Grateful Dead (18 years in a one-year span from 1970-1971), Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Dead, among others and was was recently re-opened this past year.  In conjunction with each night of the show, every Capital Theater ticket buyer will receive a complimetnary download which will be delivered shortly after each performance.

Two days later, My Morning Jacket will make their way up the east coast for an unforgettable New Year's Eve performance at Agganis Arena, with support for the ledgendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band.  The special New Years Eve show will not take part of the Spontaneous Curation Series in order to ensure an evening full of surprises.
Pre-sale tickets for all four shows will be available to the band's fan club Roll Call Wednesday at  via mymornngjacket.com.  Tickets for Capital Theater will go on sale to the general public, Friday at 10am EST via ticketfly.com.  Tickets for Agganis Arena will be available to the general public, Friday at 12 noon via ticketmaster.com.

I am a little surprised by the floor being seated, not GA.   Definitely a bummer for those traveling from afar and wanting to congregate at the front.

I also think that generic floor plan shown on ticketmaster may not be the final word, unless someone has read somewhere specifically otherwise.   I've seen plenty of shows where the seating chart gets revised later (MMJ MSG for ex).

If it is seated, then the importance of whether Roll Call gives us good seats or not will make or break this.   Also, whether they put us together or dot us around.   Also, how many you are allowed to buy.

Ah, the excitement and stress of pre-sales....

Can't see the floor being seated.  I think it'll change.  And as you and I both know, a seats-only venue for a MMJ show sucks.

I can't conceive a MMJ NYE show being seated in front, in an arena, no less. I predict GA will happen and we'll see a different seating chart on that page.

EDIT: /shaking fist at NN for thinking just like me, but faster

Sorry Ben, but the Philly Mann shows say otherwise. Two years in a row they were GREAT shows.

Besides, if it wasn't seated, we wouldn't have that pic of Johnny shining his love light.

Is The Mann the exception or the rule?  The Chicago show was not good, but I guess crowd has more to do with it than the arena setup.

Anyway, I really hope it's not seats.

Probably the crowd. Philly is a great Rock and Roll town, and the Mann rocked both times.
I liked not having to line up early for a change. We had a great group hanging in the lot til just about show time. Tons of fun, and laid back with no need to worry about getting in early.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm hoping for seats. As long as Roll Call can come through with some prime ones.

According to a call I just made to Agganis Arena, the MMJ NYE show will have reserved seating on the floor, NOT GA.

Well, more time to celebrate NYE before the show.  Hopefully we all can be in the first few rows.  Let's also hope the cluster**** of the previous pre-sales will be avoided.

I also wonder if weather is a factor, as the venue may not want anyone queueing in the cold.  Alcohol is probably another factor.

Thanks Yac for doing that.   I was really curious so I appreciate it.   I'm a little surprised but there are certainly pros/cons.

The next thing to stress about is how many tix we can buy in the pre-sale.   If it's only 2, that will REALLY be a bummer.

That's a pretty big assumption, and I'm surprised you use Philly as your example of a great seated show.   Wasn't the sale for that a disaster, if I recall correctly?   The last thing I want to do is get mediocre seats, get better seats later through general sale, get pissed at roll call, then try and sell my tix while dealing w/ the will call BS.

More of a BIG hope than an assumption. I'm expecting the worst, but hoping for the best.

As for Philly, I was talking about the show itself being a great one for a seated venue. The pre-sale was pretty messed up, and this year did suck as far as seats available. I got lucky with a 10th row through Roll Call, and upgraded through the general sale. I know others weren't so lucky.

The Mann pit the year before was filled with Roll Callers, and was also a great show. I'm really hoping Roll Call gets some prime seats for NYE, as they did for that show.  If not, I'm prepared to pass, and give it a go at the general sale.

Years of practice trying for Bruce tix has taught me patience, and the willingness to pass on the first seat offered, or ones I'm not happy with. It can be trying, but there almost always seem to be great seats available as the show gets closer. The Mann show this year is a good example. A few pits, and low rows were made available a day or two before the show.

Read the other posts.  In short, for all the shows, the vast majority had trouble getting tickets, even GA tickets.  We kept on getting "sold out" messages or "not available".  Then someone found a backdoor to getting tickets, and that helped for GA venues.  But for The Mann Center in Philly, Roll Callers got some ok but not great seats.

A little strange about the no GA seats considering I'm seeing Jack White there at the of the month and that show is GA Floor.  I also would not go by what they said today on the phone.  The show was just officially announced today and the Arena itself probably has no clue as far as ticketing goes.

Don't mean to be a party-pooper but if it is seats and not GA, i'm not sure Mrs. HH and I will be making the trip to Boston.

We are both definitely in for 3 nights of GA at Port Chester! But, if after 3 days of shows there, with no repeats, we would need to travel to Boston for seats only and no GA pit there so that we can hang with all of our friends, well it might be tough to do.

It is always easier to justify abandoning the kid and the dog when I'm in the pit with all of my asshole friends!

Say it ain't so!!

We'll all just have more time to spend together pre show in a nice warm pub. The bubbly will be flowing, and we'll make the best of it.

If,and I know it's a big if, Roll Call gets some sweet seats, hopefully most of them will be in the same area. I've got a good feeling about them coming through for us for this special show. No inside info, just the optimist in me says we'll be taken care of.

Philly the year before was awesome as far as ticket sales..(thanks ynwa!)
I am not sure about trekking to Boston for a seated show but I'll keep an open mind...the 3 times (Boston, RCMH, and Philly) I've seen them in a seated venue, it's still magical but not the same.

Just had a monkey wrench thrown into my plans. The Felice Brothers (my other favorite current band) announced a NYE show in NYC at a tiny theatrer. It's probably cheaper (no hotel needed, no travel) and easier for me to do. I'm thinking I may end up there instead of MMJ in Boston. Definitely still going to do the Port Chester 3-night run but I may be going the easier route for NYE

OK, I feel like this question has been asked a meelion times, and now there doesn't seem to be a roll call section on the forum.  I've asked this a few times and seem to get different responses....

I would like to buy tickets tomorrow, but not 100% sure we can make it.  If our plans fizzle, can I have my roll call tickets left under someone else's name at will call?

Stuff happened and I can't make it to this show. It'll be my first concert-less NYE in a while. BUT I'll be at PC.

Regarding the presale, I hope it goes well for you all. I have had awful luck the last few RC presales and MSG last December were the worst seats I have ever had for an MMJ show. Far worse than my disappointing Mann center tix.

I also have a hard time imagining that this will remain seated floor. At first, the outdoor queuing point seemed pretty valid but this is a hockey arena and I'm sure they have drunk college kids lined up outside of it every weekend during the winter trying to get the best student section seats.

I think that we'll definitely see Diamond Doves play with the Brothers. They are Elvis Perkins backing band and started their own sidegroup. They play horns for Felice Brothers at most NYC shows since that's their central location.

Either way....should be awesome.

In some instances, we were allowed to transfer tickets. It depends on the company and the venue; Roll Call doesn't really have a say on transferring tickets.

Same here but only half as much as you. Even tried calling the venue box office but they wouldn't do it.

Hopefully TubeTop has better luck with them in person, and can get a hold of my tix for the last two shows at least.  Even if she has to give them away, it'd be much better than them going unused.  I would feel a lot less bummed about not being able to get out there if I knew at least someone was getting their face melted in my place.

Really wish there could be some sort of a Roll Caller - Roll Caller transfer policy.

I'm not so sure about that.  I've had tix transferred at will call at many, many venues, in fact have never been told no, other than roll call tix.  I think they set the policy.   And if not, mail the freaking tickets.

There have been occasions where people were able to get their tickets transferred throughout this tour. I was a benefactor of one such instance, where I went to Chicago without a ticket. However, Ewind couldn't go but had tickets, and I had no problems getting the tickets at will call.  All I had was a note saying I was authorized to pick up the tickets plus Ewind's and his girlfriend's IDs.

But yeah, mail the tickets!

Don't laugh (and this may have already been discussed) but how exactly do we order tix tomorrow in the presale? I haven't bought tickets since last August and I feel like back then I got an email with a password or something. I'm assuming we just go to the Current Dates of the Tour section and click on either "Roll Call VIP" or "Tickets" for the respective show? Any info would help, don't wanna screw this up haha

Did you have their actual Id's or a photo copy? I'm guessing a copy, but want to be sure because I want to try a similar thing with my LA tix.

That's the way.  Make sure you're logged in to your Roll Call account first.  The Roll Call and Forum accounts are not linked.

Ok sweet, thanks! And I know the big debate is whether this is going to be seats or GA on the floor. I have tickets to Jack White at Agganis later this month and they're listed as Floor 1, G13 and then has seat numbers. Doesn't say GA anywhere on the ticket, but from what other people are saying here, it sounds like the floor seats for that show are definitely GA. Not sure if that means anything for this show, but maybe floor tickets that are listed as being specific to a row and seat will turn out to be irrelevant. Fingers crossed but either way I'm beyond excited.

Pretty sure the reason for a seat/row # on ga's is so they can keep track of how many they've sold.  That ga1 for Jack White is front floor according to the Agganis seating chart for his show.
Definitely no floor seats for his show.

there are two sections of the floor GA1 and GA2...just kind of separated but yes no seats.

VIP is the soundcheck.  You can only get soundcheck tickets if you also have a ticket to the show.

Roll Call VIP is for the Soundcheck bundles. If they're available for the show it'll be lit up, and active. There is no show ticket available in that link. The tickets button is for the actual show ticket. If they're both lit, and you want to do both, you'll have to go through both links.

do you have to go through both links? i thought i was able to buy a soundcheck and a ticket through one link before making it only one order. i could be wrong. i hate roll call being non transferable. makes it hard to commit

I don't remember there being a seperate Roll Call ticket link inside the VIP link. After the RC presale is over, there is a link to an external ticket purchase in that VIP link, but pretty sure I had to go through the RC presale link for tix during the presale. I do know the VIP bundle does not include a show ticket, and what I meant to say by the two being seperate purchases. You're right though, you can continue shopping, and get them on the same order. I had two different soundchecks, and two different show tix for the trifecta on one order.

Single Ticket GA and Reserved: $64.13 including processing fee

3-Day Bundle GA ONLY: $178.08 including processing fee

Boston GA Tickets are $56.82 including processing fee

There will be no soundcheck parties offered for these dates."

looks like there will be a GA for boston

I noticed only one price level on the Ticketbastard site for Boston NYE, so I was kinda thinking it might be GA.  Got the same email, so I guess it removes some stress from today... and puts more stress on the afternoon of Dec. 31st.

There is zero chance an entire show in an arena is going to be all GA. It would be a logistical nightmare. Maybe there are a few sections of the floor designated as Roll Call GA sections? Hoping for that anyway!

Anyone else thinking of passing on this presale now that it's ga, and waiting on TM so as to avoid will call/ no transferring of tix?

I was going in if it was a seated floor in order to get a good seat, but now that it's ga, no need to risk getting stuck with the tix in case something unforeseen comes up.

They really should either mail the RC tix, or at least let us transfer them to another Roll Caller.

Will Roll Call offer any side stage seats?  Like section 102 or 114?  I dig GA and getting up front, but the wife more than likely will not want to deal with that for a 3+ hour show.

Eric, you are putting a lot of weight in that ground control email that says "GA tix"... that could easily be a cut and paste mistake.   Grount CTRL is not exactly error free based on past history.

I don't think we know what the seating chart is.   It's confusing, I'd say at least check it out at noon rather than pass.

could be all GA
could be GA floor
could have a GA Pit up front
grount ctrl could be messing things up

I understand that, and don't want to influence anyone, but there were West ga's available for MSG last year through TM.

Don't count on being able to transfer tix. 0-2 on that front for me.

Great point Kyle! Exactly my thinking too. I was definitely going to check it out, just might pass today if it's a ga floor. If it's a front small front pit, I'll definitely grab that, but if it looks like last year MSG, I'm not sure. Then again we might not even know how the ga is at purchase. Remember for MSG everyone at first was wondering what the GA West tix were, and hoping they were front, until CC came in and assured us they were.

Considering Yac called the venue and they informed him it is NOT GA, I am going to go with that rather than believe in a Ground Control e-mail stating that GA tickets would cost however much. Likely just another typo on their part.

Also can we get it going that everyone dresses in Tux's and Gowns like they did at MMJ's show at Madison Square Garden in 2009?

LET"S MAKE THIS A CLASSY EVENT!!!!

Fingers crossed it is still GA...

fingers crossed that it's not!  I would much prefer to stroll in right before show time and pull up my second row seats.

I'm with you, WF!

Considering Yac called the venue and they informed him it is NOT GA, I am going to go with that rather than believe in a Ground Control e-mail stating that GA tickets would cost however much. Likely just another typo on their part.

I'm with you guys. Gonna stay nice and warm while hydrating myself at a nice pub. Then stroll in nice and leisurely.  probably still get there at doors for a poster, and PHJB, but nice not to have to worry about standing in line way early for a ga spot.

Second Row - Carl's side!!

According to the venue's site, seats are numbered left to right.
http://www.agganisarena.com/seating/maps/index.html (http://www.agganisarena.com/seating/maps/index.html)

Would be interested to know how many seats are in each section... cant find any info on that

I was in class, so I had to do this on the fly and pulled F1 row K seats 1 & 2, so farthest right facing the stage, 11th row.  Not happy.  If anyone who scored decent F2 seats have a "spare", so to speak, please think of me.  I don't expect special treatment, but can't seem to penetrate the inner circle of any Boston show.  Fuck me.

Thanks for the info and link. That's what I was leaning towards since F1 is on the left looking out from the stage. Figured the seats would run the same as the sections, but good to know for certain.

F3, Row B, seat 3  looks even better now.

Kyle, our seats are F1 row B 1-2, same row as you, just all the way to Yim side on the aisle.  Wish I was more centered but no complaints here.  I really hope we can make it out and actually use the tickets.

And despite all the back and forth about GA or not and what's best, it sounds mighty nice to know there's a good seat waiting for me with no waiting in line and unlimited beer/bathroom runs.

I'm just pissed off at the whole fiasco, so much so that I'm considering forgoing these shows and head somewhere else where we can completely avoid GroundCtrl.

People have every right to be pleased with their seats and that they got tickets.  And truly, I'm happy for everyone and disappointed that we won't be able to join people near the front.  Instead, we'll be 27 rows back.

If I can get a code for TM's pre-sale tomorrow, I may try that as well to see if there's better luck.

What's this about a pre-sale code for TM?  Does this include PC shows as well?

Well... looks like I got screwed a bit on the seating. F5 row B. But I'm trying to be positive.  If the arena floor is hockey sized, then we should be less than 100 feet from the stage. Here is a photo of the arena with a floor layout.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_M88zSLHbz7Y/SjMZWEEZJgI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/RT-JusJaCEo/s400/DSC04494.JPG (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_M88zSLHbz7Y/SjMZWEEZJgI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/RT-JusJaCEo/s400/DSC04494.JPG)

Looks like no more than 20 rows per section. I hoped for something closer, but will still be closer than my Roll Call seats at Alpharetta this year (why oh why did they not release GA seats when roll call first opened). Still, I wonder why have seats at all. Nobody sits for Jacket.

Regardless, NYE with MMJ is going to be bliss!

ILB, TM has a pre-sale for the Boston show only.  The PC tickets are being handled by TicketFly.

And to Eric and Kyle, sorry for acting like a spoiled child.  Glad you and others get to be together during the show.  I have to hope that HH and his wife end up coming to Boston, so that we have someone to hang out with at centre ice.

Coming from New York again to Boston... loved our trip last time... the city and the love there is just awesome!

After 36 years on this earth and countless shows in my lifetime, this will be my first New Years Eve show! BEYOND EXCITED... didn't give a poop where our seats where... just wanted to make sure we got there. We reserved a room months ago on the chance that this show was going through! Very happy!

I feel ya, Ben.  Every presale, I'm on right at noon, or whenever it starts, and pull seats 10+ rows back.  And then I hear so many getting prime seats.  Its just luck of the draw.

I added the @AgganisArena twitter to my list to get the venue presale password for tomorrow morning at 10 am, might try the general on sale on Friday at noon.  Sounds like the PC presale was pretty harsh.  Don't know if GC or anyone else deserves blame;  there are only so many good seats or tickets and a lot of Roll Call fans, far more than just those who frequent the forum.  I know some of the good seats get held for the venue presale, some for the general sale.

Someday...

Ben- I intend to be on the rail for all 3 shows at PC and if (hopefully) we can make it to Boston, Mrs. HH and I will be thrilled to sit with you regardless of where the seats are.  Heck, might be the first time we can actually check out the full spectacle and awesomeness of the light show (which you mostly miss on the rail).

Me too. Get your money orders ready, and your index cards. Watch you don't get it postmarked too soon!

I don't blame you about calling them, but they're on Pacific time, so maybe after you're home for a bit, and kick back with your feet up, you can give em hell if you want.

Btw, that total seems right for your purchase. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Got some F3 row B. Carl side it is!!!!

Will see you there....F3 row B seats 1 & 2!
I wonder if my aisle seats are closest or furthest from center...anyone care to speculate?

I'm speculating they are closer to the center!

The link below has the answer; looking from the stage, seat 1 is on the left:
http://www.agganisarena.com/seating/maps/index.html (http://www.agganisarena.com/seating/maps/index.html)

Thanks for the info and link. That's what I was leaning towards since F1 is on the left looking out from the stage. Figured the seats would run the same as the sections, but good to know for certain.

F3, Row B, seat 3  looks even better now.

I'll be right next to you. :)

Same here John. I was seeing  a single F1 row Q, and F4 or F5 row A single for a while, but they've been gone since around 3:00. The ones that popped up were probably dropped back into the system for a cc denial or something similar. I doubt more than the original allotment were released.

102 Row D. This is perfect. The misses and I are not the tallest people in world so unless we're pretty close we spend most of the show standing on our toes or staring at people's heads. My first pull was Section 1 Row W I think, too far for us "vertically impaired" folk.

Oh man, these seats that everyone is getting in section 102 are going to be UNREAL! For an arena show, you can't get much better than a few rows up in the section right next to the stage.

Congrats everyone on grabbing those sweet tickets! Now it is up to you to ensure your whole section is standing. Sitters during a NYE show with MMJ will NOT be tolerated.

It's an hour after the presale started and there are some AMAZING lower bowls left. Second row in section 102 still coming up in pairs. I'd venture to say these may be even better than floor seats.

Picked up 103 Row B, AISLE (!) about 30 minutes ago!  Very excited, as I didn't want to do Will Call for F1-3 and I'm at least a little more elevated then F4-6.

That being said, I'll be looking to sell 2 in 102 Row J once we get the hard tickets.

December can't come soon enough!

I picked up a pair in F1 Row J today in the venue presale (seats 13 and 14).

Anyone know how many seats there are in the rows of the floor sections?  Just curious how close to the aisle we are.

Here's a link to the Agannis seating charts. They don't have the Jacket show in there yet, but it's the same setup as the Script one. Seats aren't numbered but it looks to me like  floor sections F1-F3 are about 20 across and 17 rows deep.

Don't rule out the general public sale! I got tickets Wednesday through Roll Coll and ended up with F1, Row K which I was pretty pleased with. Especially since I tried on the presale yesterday and did about 50 tries without getting better seats. Today I was just fucking around for the hell of it and on about the 5th try I got seats in F2, Row D! So before I had 11th row on Jim's side, now I'm 4th row in the center. My brother is going to take my old seats so that worked out, I suggest people definitely look into tickets right now if they weren't happy with Roll Call or presale.

Yes.  The seats in all sections are numbered from one left to right if you are standing on the stage looking at the crowd.  So, for section F1, a low number puts you on the outside.

They work great John. Saved my ears quite a few times, and still could hear nice and clear. The white ones fit me fine, but the ladies might want the smaller blue ones. Those are the ones that fit my daughter best.

Agreed.  I don't always use 'em, but you can pull/push them to adjust the sound reduction without losing qualtiy.  BTW, wasn't trying to diminish your concern, WF.  I have tix in F1 too and prefer to be a bit more central and not in front of the stacks.

I just can't do the earplugs, even though I know I should.  Last year at the pantages in LA I was basically the same spot, directly against the stacks...had to move away from my seats because it was so effing loud.  And I like it loud!

You should give these ones a shot Walter. They're pretty comfortable, and at worst you'll be out the $12.00 or so. I could never do earplugs either, but these ones worked really well for me. I like it loud too, and these are the only way I can deal with how loud it really is up front. I can still hear fine, and they're not uncomfortable, with the bonus of no ringing or white noise in my ears after the show.

I'll be traveling from NY to be there.  I'm new around here, but I've been a live music freak for decades.  Had seen MMJ open for Pearl Jam several times but alas, was too blind to see.  Zanjam is my friend in 3D life and she's exposed me to a lot of MMJ and their scene.  Peace.

My 4 tickets are back up for sale.  Section F5, row A, seats 8-11 (dead centre in the 2nd tier of seats on the floor).

Hey add me to this list, got my tickets a few days ago. My friend and I are in F3 row L. Is it confirmed that the floor will be all seated or are they just using the floor plan to generate how many tickets are needed to sell for GA? I would rather it be GA but floor seats are cool too.

Got your tickets a few days ago and they're better than my roll call tickets. Damn.

Personally, for a NYE show, I like the idea of seats. I will have no problems with beer and potty breaks.

Preach, e_wind, preach! Seats are gonna take this show to the next level. For once, there will be no pre-show stresses about getting a good spot. We just gotta show up ready to have a good time! And maybe early enough to grab a poster.

I have always been a part of the "NEW YEARS IS OVERRATED" crowd and have NEVER been excited for any New Years as long as I've lived, but that is what makes it all the more amazing that I am ABOUT TO EXPLODE in anticipation for this year's festivities. Love that the highlight of my year is going to be saved for the very last day. 103 DAYS! (And yes, I'm counting)

I definitely want to get a poster for this show. How quickly do they typically sell out? I'm assuming I will need to go in early to buy it.

The '08 was a run of I believe 355 but this place is half the size of MSG so even if they did a similar run it might not be too too bad to get one. Just make it there early enough and you should be just fine ;)

I am suddenly able to go to the Boston show - is it too late to get in on thus block of hotel rooms?  Our party is seeking two - 1 with a single king, and another with two queens.  Thanks!

Also, if anyone out there has any leads on extra Boston tickets, we are still in search of 3!

Tickets are still on sale via Ticketmaster. Also i think you may want to post in the other thread about hotels. I booked my own because I wanted to stay somewhere else.

I only have funds to do either PC or Boston. Back when they announced that the PC shows would be no repeat, I decided that I would go to PC instead of Boston. I've been meaning to mark my  name off before now, but today I finally did it. Believe me, I would love to do all of the shows, but I'm much better off being financially responsible. Sometimes though, I hate being a responsible adult.

since we'll be on or near BU campus, i'm sure there are some bars around--and being that the floor is seated (supposedly, i don't buy it, though), maybe some of us won't have to be worried about the RAIL--we might actually have time to hang out for once!

Will they keep the New Year's 'Celebration' tradition alive? I think they will...I sure hope so.

Why do you say this?  It's probably something that should be made clear by the band or the venue.  You would have some awfully pissed off people who come in to watch MMJ, expecting their floor seats, only to find it full.  I know I would be.

as far as i know, there will be some sort of separation, i just don't know how much. for the jack white show, the separation was very lax (pretty much non existent) but i'm not sure how the tix were sold, either. i was told by friends who were there that the kids working at Agganis were clueless. i'm not saying it's going to a free for all, or a completely structured flooring (like how they're strict at MSG), but i think it'll be somewhere in between..(my .02 but i've never been to the venue)

Funny you say this I was re-listening to 12/31/2008 and started thinking that hope "celebration" doesn't get played again. The one thing I really want to see is the show end with both MMJ and PHJB doing a 2nd line through the audience and outside.

Sorry Penny, but the floor layout for Jack White, and MMJ at Agganis are different setups. JW was sold as F1 and F2 which was similar to last year's MMJ show at MSG with the GA West and GA East.  For JW, F1 was front floor, like the way GA West was at MSG. F2 was rear Ga at Agannis for JW, separated by an aisle/ railing, just like the GA East at MSG was for MMJ.

The seating chart for MMJ at Agganis was posted, and has reserved seating on the floor with F1,F2,and F3 being the front seated sections. F4, F5, and F6 behind those and  two more floor sections in the back along side the soundboard.

I can see where both Agganis setups having F1, and F2 would cause confusion, but for JW they were the only floor sections, while MMJ has eight F Floor sections for their show.

might require creating an account to edit, but heres a map for everyone to map out where they are traveling from for the PC and Boston shows

you can leave comments on pins, and comments on the map, etc. all in all, just another social networking thing we dont need.

if you check out stubhub for the NYE show, you can see that they only have tickets in the center sections of the arena.   It's not a surprise that tix behind stage aren't available- it shows that on the ticketmaster seating chart- but if there were no tickets sold in F7 - F9 and 105 - 111, that suggests demand isn't very high at all.   I don't know if tickets were sold there or not - anyone sitting in those sections?   but usually stubhub has at least some tickets in every available section.

http://www.stubhub.com/my-morning-jacket-tickets/my-morning-jacket-boston-agganis-arena-12-31-2012-4142481/ (http://www.stubhub.com/my-morning-jacket-tickets/my-morning-jacket-boston-agganis-arena-12-31-2012-4142481/)

that's not a lot of people! probably 3,000 or so, for a 7200 person arena.   Not that I'm complaining for our sake, but I hate for this to not be a success.
Title: Re: New Years Eve in Boston ROLL CALL!
Post by: midwesterner on Nov 02, 2012, 05:28 PM
I can't believe they aren't going to sell tickets for 105, 106, 107, 108, 109,110, & 111. I think I puled tickets at one point for section F7 but threw them back. I think you are right on only about 3000 tickets being sold so far. But I am not too concerned about ticket sales though.  If remember correctly tickets didn't sell that well for MSG but on the night of the show the place filled up. I would expect the same to happen this year.

I just went on TM and did a search for 4 tix and then 2.  Both times they put me in 103.  It's a little under 2 months away, but I wouldn't be surprised if the place is half full come show time.  I don't think they sold out BOA a couple summers ago, and that's probably half the size of Agganis.

They should have played at the Orpheum

Either way, those of us that are there will have a blast.  As long as the band makes some money off it, can pay their crew, and have a good time, we're all winners.  Right?

Not as many bars as you would think in a short walk.  T's Pub is on the same side of Comm Ave, a couple blocks away and next to the Paradise.  The Sunset Cantina is across the street and has a   solid beer selection, but a cumbersome bar setup (unless everyone is at tables).

Maybe we can look into finding a nearby bar with a room for us to reserve.  We did this for last year's show at Madison Square Garden.

Not as many bars as you would think in a short walk.  T's Pub is on the same side of Comm Ave, a couple blocks away and next to the Paradise.  The Sunset Cantina is across the street and has a   solid beer selection, but a cumbersome bar setup (unless everyone is at tables).

I agree about the Cantina last time I was there it was parents weekend at BU and there was a line outside with an hour wait...unceratin what NYE would look like there.

I've emailed Sunset Cantina (http://www.allstonsfinest.com/allstonsfinest/sunsetcantina/sunsetcantina.swf) about getting a room, with catering or off the menu.  Its right across the street.  I said 30-40 people from 5 to 7 pm.  Cool?

Paradise has a bar in front as well. All I know is that they have UFO's there, so..........

Keep us updated on the Cantina, Yac. Have some friends coming in from out of town. but would love to try and stop in an say hey and meet some other board folk.

I'll be flying in solo the day of, so anywhere people from the board meet pre-show I am totally cool with. Would be nice to get to put some faces with some names!

Awesome.  If they have the ability to do that, it's a plus beer selection and no shortage of comfort food.  And certainly convenient to get over to the show.

I'm in F1 row B seats 1 and 2, if one were to make a guess, do you think our view of the band will be partially blocked?  Thinking we won't be seeing Bo possibly.  Also a bit worried about being sound blasted by the speaker stacks.  Debating trying to upgrade or not.

You might give Agganis a call 617-358-7000.  I spoke to them about the seating plan a while back and they were helpful.  I would be more worried about the sound mix then the view, but Row B is pretty sweet.  I had the side-most seat in the first row on Carl's side in Philly, and while it was way over, it was more than great.

While the image of Agganis Arena below isn't EXACTLY the same as the MMJ layout, it looks similar enough and even the furthest seats to the each side look like they'd be pretty awesome -- especially if you're in the second row!

thanks for the input. I think we should be good, although I'd imagine MMJ might have a few more massive speaker stacks on the sides of the stage than an orchestra performance by the Berklee School of Music!! (at least I hope so)

Any advice on switching will call tix to a different name?  My buddy has two in his name that he can't use.   Will call was the only option when we purchased..   I called agganis and they're "closed" until Monday.   Would ticketmaster be able to help?

it's so hit or miss, it's hard to give you helpful advice.   You can bring a copy of your buddy's license, or beg and plead.   But be prepared for the worst just in case.

you're at the mercy of the venue...from what i know, they're kinda dim and a little lax so bring whatever information you have and try to do it early in the day (think box office opens at noon?)

This will be something like my 15th-ish Jacket since Roo 2006, but my first NYE.

We have mainfloor seats toward the back.
