Hi All!
I have been having some side chats about trying to schedule a massive get together for those of us suffering the withdrawal of each other's company after spending the week together at T5.
Bob and I would be thrilled to welcome any and all reading this who would be able to come to our home on Saturday, February 12th for an all day, all evening get together, where we can just hang out, bond, listen to Jacket tunes, eat some treats, have some drinks and reminisce about our week in the SUN :)
We live in Cranford, NJ - a suburb about 30 minutes south of manhattan, and we have a train station in our town - it is the raritan valley line. Those of you coming from NYC would just have to switch in Newark Penn and get on the NJ Transit Raritan Valley line.
This would give me something to look forward to, and I just wanted to get going on picking a date that might work for most. I am open to other dates (and I guess I should check with Bob too :)
Let me know!! :D :D :D
PS -- we WILL have a karaoke machine available for those who would like to belt out some tunes, AND dodo will bring the pipes :)
Sounds like a plan! Feb 12th should work for me. Looking forward to it!
:)

My friend Brian Halloran is a singer songer writer. I could ask him to come along? He can cover anything! And plays his own stuff as well. He would prob do the gig for free but if we threw him 100 bucks he would be very happy. Starving musicians! I could ask him to work on some Jacket tunes as well! The acoustic stuff.

QuoteHi All!

Funny.....someone else we all know and love asked me that question too :) Dontcha think that would be kinda weird super-stalker, desperate and freaky? (kinda like most of us on here :) I just don't know if I could bear the rejection.....but WOW that would be super cool. I will ponder this.....

2 snags:
--the show i work on is ending, so i'll be out of work by mid-january.
--the decemberists are playing los angeles on 2.12
i still have a free flight on southwest, and if i can swing seeing the decemberists in another town, i may still be in this.

This running list makes me very, very, very happy. Hopefully by the time we all meet up that weekend we'll know if MMJ will be at Roo and we can start some serious plans.
And since this is a T5 related thread...I'll just say that I cleaned out the pictures on my computer and in doing so looked through all of the NYC pics again. What a magical, magical week. Just the other day I relayed the story of standing outside the bathroom at Joe's Pub as Carl tried to get out with all his stuff. Because I was tipsy the only thing I could think to say was: "Maaaan, Carl, you're too big to carry your own equipment." To which he responded with a high pitch, "Whaaaaat?" Thankfully BH was a witness.
Ahhh, memories.

brooke-a bunch of us will have to get back to Hoboken--so we can all split a car and you can jump on the train back to brooklyn--i'm assuming bluesky will need to also--just an idea (path train to subway?) just an idea.
Also there is a trAin station two blocks from my house. Raritan valley line will get you to Newark and you can jump on the path. Or the car is a good idea too.
Get here as early as you want....I'm thinking 1 pm is a good time to begin the festivities. ;D

I'm in too, that's if I'm here? Haven't worked out rest of winter travel yet... Brooke we could head to Jersey together. Taking the path train is like entering a foreign country, possibly worse since it's all in English and I should simply understand it's ways....

Hey Trish,
Really looking forward to this!
Quick question though... I know this starts around 1 p.m., but when do you think you will be kicking us out? The only reason why I ask is that me and the guys were going to see Tea Leaf Green in the city later that night - if your get together was just an afternoon thing. If you think it is going to go into the evening, we might just bail on the show and hang with all you jacket fans instead.
Anyway, super excited. PLEASE TELL US WHAT WE CAN BRING!!!!!

Hey All! Back from my trip to Ireland! Had a fantastic time! The music video is going to be amazing! Can't wait to share it with you all. Hopefully it is done by Feb 12th. We still have a few shoots to do in NY and then post production and editing.
Anyway, the pipes are all warmed up and I still plan to make it out there for the reunion.
Talk soon!

Hey Jbartender,
Looking forward to seeing you guys out there. I may be interested in going to the Tea Leaf Green show myself. But will probably be a game time decision. If the party is rolling out in NJ I may stick there, but I have been wanting to see TLG for a long time. Everytime they have come through NY I have had something else going on. Hit me up with a PM.
Cheers,

The tix are $20 and they are general admission so I think it is going to be a game time decision for us a well. If the party is rolling, I am staying.

2nd, actually. ;) Jacketfest 07! Good times.
We could never duplicate Jacketfest 2007 ;D ;D ;D I remember when that was being planned, I was still a "lurker" and totally wished I could have been there!
Our theme is:
MMJ LoveFest 2011
Be here Ghosts! I was looking at bus schedules for you :) it's kinda tricky from wilkes barre...its either to AC or NYC....neither of which are convenient to us, but I hope we can figure something out.
If someone wants to hook a ride, here's my likely route from NH. I'm leaving around 8am and its about a 5 hour drive, not counting stops for the usual.

I will probably taking the train as well!
Fiddle, I'm sure between the three of us we can figure something out. Can we make a plan to take the same train as you? (i've been debating making the trip but Brooke has been convincing, :dankk2: )

yeah ;D you like how i just announce that you ARE coming :-*
Fiddle, Brooke, Val...
When are you guys coming in? I am driving up Sat. and could swing by the train station on my way to T&B's. Just let me know so I can time it. ;)
have a great time everyone - I wish i could be there. At one point I was hoping to make the trip with Johnny Yac but a 5 hour car ride with him scared me off!
(you know I'm kidding JY - it's my 4 yr olds bday party on sat!)

Ky that would be great!!! I'll check in to the times and pm all you all! :)
Hey All! Looking forward to Sat! I am coming from the Bronx. I was either gonna drive or take the train over. The train is probably a better idea ;) as a plan to have a few pints with you all! But if anyone else is coming from the Bronx area maybe I could car poll or meet up for the journey over to NJ. Let me know.
Cheers,
Brian
Hey All! Totally excited!
Just an FYI about the train...we don't have a train that comes directly from the city to our town, so you will need to switch in Newark to the Raritan Valley Line. here is the Sat schedule from Newark:
Depart : NEWARK PENN STATION at 12:38 PM
Board : Train 5521 toward RARITAN
Arrive : CRANFORD at 12:55 PM
Depart : NEWARK PENN STATION at 1:38 PM
Board : Train 5523 toward RARITAN
Arrive : CRANFORD at 1:55 PM
Depart : NEWARK PENN STATION at 2:38 PM
Board : Train 5525 toward RARITAN
Arrive : CRANFORD at 2:55 PM
Ok, and on the way home, Cranford departures for Newark:
Depart : CRANFORD at 12:15 AM
Board : Train 5458 toward NEWARK PENN STATION
Arrive : NEWARK PENN STATION at 12:38 AM
Depart : CRANFORD at 11:25 PM
Board : Train 5456 toward NEWARK PENN STATION
Arrive : NEWARK PENN STATION at 11:47 PM
Depart : CRANFORD at 10:25 PM
Board : Train 5454 toward NEWARK PENN STATION
Arrive : NEWARK PENN STATION at 10:47 PM
And then you will need to check your connection times in Newark, depending on what line you need.
Our house is literally .4 miles from the station via the NORTH AVENUE exit. PM me for specific details, i have a map. Call us if you get lost or need a ride.

Beth and I are excited to see everyone on Saturday. We've had it a bit rough lately as our son's appendix ruptured suddenly last week and we have all been basically living in the hospital for several days. Happy to report that our son is doing really well after surgery and just came home from the hospital this morning. Beth & I really need to celebrate and look forward to seeing everyone.

Wow, Jeff! Im so sorry to hear that.....Im glad he is doing really well, and we really look forward to seeing you as well! If you feel at all uncomfortable leaving him home, feel free to bring him with you. Seriously. We will set him up with the upstairs TV and video games etc. My daughter has several social engagements planned for the day, so she will be out of the house, but he is more than welcome. I know what it's like when you worry about the wee ones! Take care, and see you Sat.
Thanks Trish. Last time we took Ethan to an MMJ event (NYE at MSG) he fell asleep! :o
After spending almost a full week trapped in a hospital with his parents, my teenage son wants to be as far a way as possible from us (only partially kidding). We will be having various family checking on him, and he should be fine. Looking forward to seeing you and the gang soon.
Trish I keep forgetting to ask. Do you have any cats? :o

hey girl! you don't need to bring anything put your pretty old self...seriously, no liquor or such needed. there are shops along north ave where you will be walking, in case you have any emergencies, but we should be all set!
Checking the weather for the big drive. Leaving light snow for 40s and sunny in NJ. Must be fate. I'll let the anti-cat thing slide.

Sorry to JohnnYYac this thread ;) but my allergies have gotten worse as I have gotten older too. I was recently turned on to Quercetin with Bromelain and it has really made a difference. Anyone else use this stuff? You can get at at any vitamin shop. http://www.lifesource4life.com/quercetin.htm (http://www.lifesource4life.com/quercetin.htm)
haha JohnnYYAc the thread...love it.
I don't take anything other than allegra in the spring and fall, and that seems to help. I haven't really been in situations where I needed to take anything for an ongoing reason, but glad to hear that stuff is helping you.
So, could there be a correlation between MMJ fans and hairy animal allergies? I'm quite sure if I touched Denise or Pooch (though I know they are not alive, but ya know....they seem like they are) i would go into anaphylactic shock :o

when i was a kid, my pediatrician referred me to an allergist for some breathing troubles. he suspected it was allergy-related. i was stuck with hundreds of tiny needles containing small amnts of the usual suspects to see which ones i was allergic to. (fine, maybe it was only a few dozen, but still >:() i had slight reactions to a bunch of things but the big culpret - CATS!
luckily, i seem to have gotten better over the years, but i still have to take an allergy pill before i go into a cat house.
i don't know of any correlation between allergies & mmj, but i read something a few years ago about a correlation between allergies & eczema. coconut oil helps w/ treating eczema, so would that then somehow link up w/ mmj in conjunction w/ jim's coconut water speech?
So I guess I Johnnyyyacked this thread by bringing up the allergy thing. And it has taken a life of it's own, if I had known I would have brought it up in off topics. Nice to know I am not alone, I can't even hug cat people! As for hairy men, I love them!!!

that's the type of cat horror stories i was going to tell you about!! if i am somewhere with people who have cats for a lengthy period of time, i start having an allergy attack. this is just a recent development, and i was totally freaked out by it. we were at 2 different parties over the past few months, where i had a mild/moderate cat attack, and i was like -- what the hell - there are no cats here, but i knew it was a cat reaction... turned out, i asked around and there were people in both settings who had cats! kinda sucks sometimes, especially if i want to stay with friends etc. no can do ::) so GREAT question Val, glad you raised it!
Quote from: bluesky on Feb 10, 2011, 01:37 PM

It is recommended to take one to three daily. I have been taking two. I have not been taking it long enough (about four weeks) to know what happens when you don't take it regularly. I really hate the idea of having to take something daily, but for me, this is better than having to take prescribed meds daily. My allergies are very odd. I have a dog that does not bother me at all. I get to work and there is something in my office that causes me to sneeze multiple times daily. Since I have been taking this, my sneezing has cut back drastically and my sense of smell has improved greatly (awesome).
the generic form of claritin (loratadine) is really good, too

Have a blast today guys! Wish I was there. :'(
Since we had to be the first to leave today :'(
I get to be first to say that Beth & I had a wonderful time with many of our MMJ family today and all the many good friends who were able to make it. :)
Big thanks to Bob & Trish for being such wonderful and gracious hosts.
The food, overflowing drinks and all the MMJ extra's decorated around the house made for a warm and fun party.
It would have been all too easy to keep on eating and drinking and just hanging out if we didn't have to return to real life but we are so glad we got to be there.
We were looking forward to this day for a long time and it didn't disappoint.
Great to see all who made it today. A really special group and a wonderful day.
You guys are the best! Thanks big time. :D ;D :D
The next big party is the first MMJ show of the 2011 tour. See everyone again soon!

There was MMJ playing in every room, omnichording and guitar and bonfire pit..I hope that we can do this every year! It was really terrific, those of you not there were missed.
Oh and ps--Ghosts ate MY face!
broke i still can't do it... :P

It was delicious.
Too many hilarious moments yesterday. What a great day! It was so good to see everyone. It definately helped to break up the dry spell until the next show.
Trish & Bob: You are a power couple! Thank you so much for opening up your home to us crazies. Two of the nicest people I have ever met and I'm so happy to know both of you. :)
It was so wonderful to see everyone yesterday. Trish and Bob threw a great party!! Good food, lots to drink, and wonderful company (excellent music, too!!) I felt very spoiled to be in the company of my Jacket friends who make me laugh so hard my stomach hurts. Can't wait for the tour season to start so we can get together again.
Feel the Jacket love...

thanks so much to trish & bob for welcoming us into their lovely home. dynamic duo in full effect! awesome spread and the decor was fantastic!!! the shrine, the bathroom towels, the cake - you guys thought of everything! and the firepit was clutch. i can't remember the last time i hung out outside in the middle of winter like that. the air was chilly but the fire made it so nice n' cozy; the night sky was crystal clear, stars & moon shining bright, imbibed sing-along session - what a bunch of gd hippies! i love it!!!
thanks also to christine for the kick ass t-shirt (official girl gang uniform???) & to john for the vt show memento & sharing that chimay deliciousness & to bill also, tho i don't recall what the name of that tasty brew was.
it was really great seeing all of you again! all the smiles, all the sharing & caring - so many great moments; i laughed, i cried (firepit smoke in the eyes)... i loved every moment of it & have so many new memories to cherish. :-*
to those who weren't able to be there in person, you were there in spirit. lots of T5 reminiscing going on.

Thank you so much for your hospitality and generosity! I am sure we will see you all again soon enough!
Until next time guys and gals...
Sounds like a blast! Wish I wasn't 3K miles away.
One of my favorite moments was after we dug into the cake and the ice cream started to melt, Brooke pointed at the picture on it and said, "HA...face-melting!"
Happy Valentines day to you all! It looks like you had a great time. Love the cake! Trish and Bob are the best. I was thinking of you all while I was laying on the beach Saturday. That's my subtle hint that I would love to host a west coast T5 reunion anytime. Plenty of room here in Venice if anyone has the urge to come west, you are always welcome! 8)

Hey Rich, you need to PM or let me know here what that little Fender amp was. I loved the distortion effect w/my OM200 and want to replicate it. Great pics, bluesky! There were many shrines throughout their home. From the poster gallery upstairs, with all 5 T5 posters (!) amongst the display and Okonokos running on the flatscreen to the framed setlists and their daughter's artistic homage to each of the boys (P-party A-awesome T-Trish R-Rick(?) I-ice cream C-Chrissy K-kind).

I really wouldn't recommend my amp, as it's kinda horrible for doing anything with it. It's a standard effect on 90% of guitar amps, go to any music shop, pick up a guitar, and test out some cheap amps, or effects pedals and see if it can make a guitar sound like how you want your omni to sound, if it can make a guitar sound like that, it can make an Omni sound like it.
Love these pics! Love these peeps! :)

Thanks, Rich. I'll just take my OM200 with me to a local shop sometime. The only amp I've ever used is the one I have now, make by Suzuki for the Omnichord. The only "effect" it has is a phaser (meh). Rock on!
