Title: Soundland - Nashville - Oct. 6
Post by: Fully on Sep 14, 2012, 01:28 PM
Ok, we had a thread in the Old New Forum, but it's obviously gone. Who's going to this thing and do we need to make some plans for a meetup?

Come on, Armando! It will be fun. I probably should mention that I'm not spending the night downtown. I'm just going to drive back home afterward. I had thought I would, but I waited too late to make my reservation, and I'm not paying close the three hundred for a hotel when I have a bed 45 minutes away. But we'll have a great time on the rail. From looking at the lineup, I think it will be safe to get there around five and be able to get pretty close up front, maybe even right up front. What do the rest of you think. I know I'm not arriving at noon.

I'd be coming in on Saturday afternoon (~7 hour drive from Charlotte) and heading straight for the rail. Since this is the last show in/near the south this year I'm really going to move to make it happen.

Any decent lodging options outside of the downtown area? ~$300 is not an options here either.

Out near the airport or even Lebanon will be a good area if you don't mind driving. Plus it will be closer to your way home. The Brentwood/Franklin/Cool Springs area is a good area too. But it will be on the south side of town and your coming I40 from the east. It looks like the closest place to park will be in the Pinnacle building garage. This is on the site of the old thermopower plant. I've never gone to anything in this particular location, but it's pretty close to everything else downtown. If someone is staying at the Doubletree, it will be a pretty easy walk. Although it will probably take about ten-fifteen minutes.

I'm bailing on this show. Ive started to get apathetic about MMJ shows and I think it's cause I've been cramming almost 30 shows in less than 3 years. Im gonna take as big of a break as possible until PC+Boston.

Not to mention I'm broke as shit right now from PC, Music Midtoen, and Starry Nights. I can't even afford a ticket to this.

Have fun peeps

nashville remains one of my favorite cities to roam around, and looking forward to hearing some new music at this festival

appears this thing is over at 11pm.. we'll have to go out and see what kind of trouble we can find at the patterson house afterwards

Just got email from Soundland                                                                                  SoundLand Fans-
We've been so excited to bring you an all-new outdoor SoundLand experience in 2012 and have been working for months on creating a one-day extravaganza Oct. 6th at The Lawn at Riverfront Park.
Unfortunately, issues out of everyone's control have caused us to put this vision on hold until 2013.

Track 29 is a great venue and not booked on the 6th.... I'm catching band of horses there on the 12th..... It has only been open a year but its my favorite venue in the Atlanta-to Nashville corridor. Intimate setting, great acoustics....

Can I get an October miracle?

Man this sucks big time  I personally don't want it at track 29 since most shows are 18+. Being a minor also sucks big time when it comes to good music venues.

That's awful.  Hopefully people will be refunded their tickets and sucks for those who will lose out on other costs.

The email says that our tickets will be refunded. Damn. I'm so disappointed. Fontanel would be a great place for them to play.

I like the Fontanel idea! I've been wanting to see a show there for a while. It looks like a great setting for a MMJ concert

Honestly, I don't see how they would have enough time to get the tickets sold and arrange everything for this to happen. I doubt it does. I really wish they would come back to Nashville though. I was so looking forward to this. I guess I just have Port Chester to look forward to now. DAMMIT!

The Ryman is open that night.... wishful thinking. They could sell out the Ryman in two minutes or less.

I had already gotten my 2 tickets on the Internet a while back and am just now finding out this show will not be happening. I wonder why... Does anyone think My Morning Jacket will really be looking into getting another venue for the show, or is it all too late by now? I was going to take my brother and was trying to talk my cousin into going too. My other cousin's teenage son was thinking about going as well. This is not good. Not good. Not good. Not good. Not good at all.

 I thinking that to make up for this (even though it's not their fault) they should do a ryman three night run, no repeats. Sounds fair to me.

We can dream, can't we. That would make up for it and way more. Starting to get angry now - not at the band, at the organizers of this show. They overextended themselves or screwed up majorly somehow. If they think I have any desire to go back to their festival after this.

This is a major bummer. Was looking forward to it *and* seeing some of y'all in person.

When the band had to cut their 2011 Charlotte show short because of a storm they made sure to put Charlotte on the tour this year and knock it out of the park. Perhaps they will do the same for Nashville next year. They're good guys like that.

Now I wish I was doing PC or Boston. Next year is a long time to wait for more live MMJ.

Really sorry to hear about this and hope everyone gets their money back. This band loves their fans so I definitely see an amazing MMJ show in the near future for Nashville.

Still no refund here.  I've emailed etix and Soundland, but no response.  Go fucking figure.  The great part is knowing that even when refunds do come, they will still be minus the fucking convenience fees.

I wonder if anyone is still monitoring the email there. I'll wait another week before I get angry about the funds.

Big Herm - I wonder how many people who bought tickets still don't have the word. I'd be super pissed if I showed up on the 6th and no show. Imagine if you'd flown and got a hotel too.

Post by: Fully on Sep 26, 2012, 07:06 PM
And now they announce a free show in New Hampshire...they couldn't come make it up to Nashville? My hope Big Herm is that they do make it up to us. After last year's Vandy show and then this, we deserve a stand alone show without an opener and with a Remnants. I'm so glad I went to Atlanta and am going to PC, but I find that I am very cranky about oct. 6. I was counting on that fix.

From etix site:  "Refunds for cancelled performances include the ticket price and the per ticket convenience charge(s), but do not include per order handling charges (if any) or fees collected for a chosen delivery option."

The "convenience" fee (FUCKING ASSHOLES.....remember when the smaller ticket companies were supposed to be an alternative to Ticketbastard's bullshit made-up fees?) for each ticket was $3.50, which we will get back.  The delivery fee was $4.50 and the order fee was $3.00.  (On the delivery fee....the last time I sent a letter to someone in the mail it cost $0.45, so what the hell are they spending that on?)  So that's $7.50 each that we paid to these cocksuckers all for the privilege of getting excited about a show and then having it cancelled.

I know $7.50 isn't all that much in the grand scheme, but goddamn it that's $7.50 that I earned at my job that I could have used toward a record or another show.  Some people may not care about that small hit, but we all did real work for that money, and these shitheads get to keep it for doing nothing.  Not MMJ I know, but these ticket companies are really fucking pissing me off and I need to vent.  There aren't enough expletive filled superlatives for the leeches at these ticket brokers.

The other thing I'd like to mention is that Soundland said ticket holders for this year would be able to purchase half price tickets next year.  That's a very nice gesture on their part, but I didn't buy tickets for this because of Divine Fits or any of the other bands I haven't heard of or care about, I bought tickets to see My Morning Jacket.  If next year's lineup is terrible like this one, and still no MMJ, I won't be there.  Just like I wouldn't have been there this year if MMJ weren't on the bill.

All of you guys who had hotel and airplane reservations, or had to jockey for time off work have my sympathy.  If I had all that to deal with I'd be livid.

Anyway, Soundland actually sent me back an email last night.  They said all refunds were issued by etix within 2-3 days of the announcement, but that the banks take a few business days to process the refund.  I appreciate their response and they were very conciliatory.  It just really blows that you can spend money these days, not get a product, and still have to be out any amount of money.

Yup, I got back $71.50 on 2 tickets at $74.50.  Definitely could have been worse.  Also could have been better if, you know, a show actually occurred.  And you're welcome for the $3 eTix!  Thanks for the memories!
