They are really good. I saw them open for MMJ in Somerset Wi. , They came out and played Wonderful with them during the encore. I might go to that show also. They have a bunch of good vids on youtube. The Letterman appearence was my 1st exposure to them.

I highly recommend them. I saw them at the Union Transfer in Philly last April and it was a great show. All strings, no percussion. They are a really talented group of guys. I got tix for their December show in Baltimore.

I must tay that I'm pretty darn jealous of everyone that got tickets to these shows. Not only do you get to see Trampled by Turtles, but you also get to see Carl open? Talk about an amazing combination!

I highly recommend these guys even if it isn't a show Carl is opening. I saw a lot of really fantastic shows at Bonnaroo this summer but Trampled by Turtles was the best. Give their last couple records a spin and get to know their songs. Singing along is definitely encouraged
I'm with you on that, Josh. I saw them at roo this year and it was one of the highlights for me. Great band!
Damn, I've been jumping into some of Trampled By Turtles songs and wow! I'm really digging it. This band has now just increased my anticipation!

I'll be getting my tickets to the Lawrence show tomorrow after KU gets their annual stomping from Texas.
Trampled by Turtles is really fun live, I just saw them at an ACL after hours show. My friend knew them from doing a hurricane Katrina relief thing years back that they showed up for. They let us on their bus and we got to hang. The best part for me, was all I did was ask about how playing one show with MMJ was. I did confess, that it's because of MMJ that I even knew about them. I just got a kick out of hanging with a band but only asking them about another band. I got a really awesome story of Jim James from the band as well.
I love the Turtles!
Trampled by Turtles - School Bus Driver (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7GFkqeWCiU#)
Mr White -
So I guess after the show they were hanging on their bus and they get a knock on the door from Jim. In his humble way he asks them if he can hang out with them for a bit. To which they are like, "seriously, are you really asking, we're the ones who really just want to hang out with you and your band? Get on board and have some drinks". After he gets on they ask him if he'd like a beer, and he once again humbly responds, "Yeah I will take the shittiest beer y'all got". After a moment of deliberation, the guys go in the back and grab a cold bud light lime (out of a case that was given to them 2 months prior that only a few were opened as that beer is bad), he looks at them and says, "well, on second thought, can I have your second shittiest beer?"
I got a good laugh out of that and several other anecdotes, but the all around message I got from the Turtles was that the band was just awesome to hang with and changed their perspective on what a live show should be. Though I don't think that last part is really even debatable for anyone who sees/plays with the Jacket.

Yeah, I looked them up when I saw them opening for MMJ in Minneapolis and I have not been disappointed in what I've heard. They've become one of my favorite bands. Trying to figure out if we can swing a trip up to Ann Arbor to see that show.

Just a note to anyone going to see Carl tonight in Chicago per TBT website:
Hey Friends,
We've experienced a slight travel delay, but fear not, our vehicle is fixed and we're headed your way. We're just a little behind schedule.
Because of this, we have made some slight adjustments to the schedule for tonight's show. Doors to the Vic will open at 7:45 pm and Carl Broemel from My Morning Jacket will play at 8:30 pm. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding and look forward to a great show!
See you tonight,
TBT

My wife was able to flag Carl down after his set last night and get me an autograph! Pretty sweet!
CARRIED AWAY, TONIGHT !?!
HOPE SO!
I hope he plays the whole album. Not a bad song on it. Its like the Beatles had a baby with Brian Wilson (pet sounds era)
SUPER STOKED!!!
You will almost certainly get Carried Away tonight, both literally and figuratively!
Got to meet Carl last night at The Vic after his set. Cool guy, had a nice chat about his solo work and the NYE show, got my pic taken with him too. Told him I was right in front of him on the rail at NYE, watching him try to punch every balloon within reach without missing a beat during OBH...we had a good laugh about that. He said they had even more balloons to release too but didn't, probably for the better, haha.
I thought his set was great, he's obviously super talented. Only bad thing was people literally talked through the entire thing, and I really had to concentrate on listening. Felt kinda bad that they weren't more appreciative, but to each their own I suppose.
Anyways, just had to post this and tell people about it, since none of my friends care, haha.
it's going down tonight!

We care!
There was a lot of talking when I saw him the other day in Tulsa too, but I don't think it was bad as it sounds like it was for you. I got to chat with him a little bit after the show too, super nice guy.
Woo, robb, enjoy!

Very cool!
I can completely agree with the talking during the set. It was interesting, there were a lot of people around me that didn't know who Carl Broemel was. As each song passed I would hear comments like, "Ahh nice he's looping all the sound together", "Man, this song is great, I gotta pick up his album", "I really dig this guy", "He plays slide guitar that's awesome" and when he played "Carried Away" with TBT most around me were going nuts how much they liked it.
I unfortunately wasn't able to chat with Carl after the show or even catch TBT as I had a family emergency but luckily everything turned out being ok.
I do have to say it is always strange seeing Carl up on stage by himself, kinda like I'm looking for the rest of MMJ to pop out, but it was a great short opening set!
