This is the thread where we summon all our collective energy to ensure that MMJ plays at Red Rocks in 2013.
This year will obviously be pretty inactive for the band, but if they do anything it should be a 2 or 3-night stand at Red Rocks. Imagine how many of us would make it if these were the only shows in 2013.
This has to happen, so let's start the wishing/planning/political organizing now.

I love the idea of time at the cabin, but hope the shows would be weekend to maximize attendance and thus justify a 3-night run.
Based on the fact that the two RR shows in 2012 didn't sell out (first night didn't), it might be hard to justify 3 in 2013, but if these were the only shows, and they were over a weekend, it could probably justify 3 nights.
Also, I'm sure Red Rocks does good business on concessions and other things even when the venue doesn't sell out.
So, weekend shows with time at the cabin either before or after.
I hope they do a show in Louisville sometime this year as well. Seems perfectly doable to me!
Night 2 last year I wonder how much overtime they had to pay all the workers? I remember one of them saying they'd never seen a show go longer, not even Phish!

Last year, everybody flew in for just the weekend and didn't have any extra days, whereas it was the other way (and only one show) the year before. A three-night run would be amazing, but yeah, selling those tickets might be an issue. This is all a pipe dream right now anyway, right? :rolleyes:

Seriously though, because of the amount of travel people put in over 2011 and 2012, the openers of 2012, the sets of '11 and '12, etc, they could really make this a special, annual MMJ weekend. 3 nights every year in august. different openers year by year. it could easily become a real Jacket Fest (i say easily having no experience what-so-ever with working in the music biz)
Would love if this happens, I have yet to make a 3 night run for MMJ!

this has been on my mind too. if they do nothing else, please just play a couple of nights at red rocks. i'd fly out there in a heartbeat. i went to ALOT of shows in 2012, but red rocks was my absolute highlight.

I could not miss that for the world, the 2012 bootlegs they released are amazing and they have been in the majority of my listening time, just jamming out to Tyrone. PLEASE MMJ, play Red Rocks again and every year until the end of eternity, i won't ever miss a show!
If it happens, we'll be there again. I said at RR last year that this should be the annual pilgrimmage for the gang.
Unfortunately, I don't have high hopes that this will happen.

Most expected them to play in 2012 since they were touring. It was pretty much a given.
Since we don't know when the band will tour again and indications they will produce a new record some time this year, playing RR this year isn't certain.

If we all believe it hard enough, the band has to end up being there then, too. How can they overcome the collection of channeled thought by so many people all directed toward this specific objective.

OK, NN, on a serious note, Red Rocks 2013 might be more likely than you think.
While no one expects a full MMJ tour in 2013, it's likely they won't be completely dormant. Some band members said as much when people talked to them at the holiday shows.
So, if they do something, what are the possibilities? I don't think it's likely they would hit up the major US festivals again until they have another album, as they want to make a big splash when promoting the next record.
They could possibly do something like Forecastle due to the Louisville connection, or a show or run of shows in Louisville. They could do a holiday run/new years, but they just did that, and they don't seem to do New Year's more than one year in a row.
So, another good option is a very special run of shows at a venue that lots of people might travel to, and what fits that bill better than Red Rocks?
I'm all for it Whip-ster. Trust me, I am. I would love to rock out and sing with you once again at RR. I'm just not getting my hopes up to avoid any disappointment. Just look what happened at PC to Carol and me.

I just had either the greatest thought i have ever had. Or the worst. Alright we are starting a campaign to get Red Rocks happening 2013. What we do is go log into facebook and go the MMJ page.
Then we message them with the statement: My favorite rocks are red and my favorite jacket is my morning one.
That is similar to how they announced it last year. Maybe if we get the fan base to do this we can convince them that another Red Rocks set of shows is needed again to blow our minds. I write this as i listen to the 2011 Red Rocks Official Bootleg. SO GOOD WE HAVE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN! I NEED A SWEET VACATION THIS SUMMER AND IF IT IS EXACTLY LIKE LAST YEAR'S I WILL LOVE IT.

Rr won't happen this summer, but there will be at least 1 multi show run in '13.
Keep in mind that the boys will be working on he new album late summer/early fall with Jim covering some festivals solo (Newport etc).

Hey all! My 2 cents is this would be the shit, August 2 and 3. Jin and I were wandering around before the second show last year and found these campgrounds:

and although they're within eyeshot of the highway, they are very close to RR and they have 2 yurts. I just punched in the info to rent the Sunrise yurt for 5 nights, 6 people and a dog and it came up $170; very affordable. I'd rather have the shows in hand before I reserved the spots but I thought I'd put it out there.

I just sent Hallahan a tweet asking them to play those dates. The more noise we make, the more likely they are to take it seriously.
