Excited to see solo dates popping up... any ideas, clues as to other dates to be announced? Hoping for a SF Fillmore show....

Hoping for a SF Fillmore show....
pretty please. Or the Great American Music Hall.
I've heard chatter of a Denver area show, so I'm hoping he comes all the way west.
The Star Theater in Portland, OR please; or The Wonder Ballroom; or The Doug Fir.
Or my living room.
Either way.
Yes, Jim - give the west coast some love and come to PDX.
I am really excited to see some more dates pop up.....Chicago, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Louisville?
Crossing my fingers for Schuba's or Lincoln Hall in Chicago!

I hope Detroit makes the cut. I just have a horrible feeling that I'll have to drive a few hundred miles to the closest show.
gotta be a Boston show. Hopefully not in Paradise though cause the sound there sucks . I rather pay up a little for the Orpheum or opposite spectrum the Middle East.
Fingers crossed and thumbs held for some (or just one is fine too) Europe tour dates! :cheesy:

Schubas or Lincoln Hall would be unreal (FYI, it was nice meeting you in Boston at the Cantina).... I'm hoping for anywhere in Austin though. The boys skipped all of Texas this past tour, so a show would be sweet!
Can the Ryman get some Jim love? Please! Or even a smaller venue would be ok, but come to Nashville. You can stay at my house if you want to. Although I'll warn you, it might be like Hotel California there. (I'm really not this creepy...or am I?)

I can't imagine he's not coming to SF. GAMH makes more sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went as small as Independent. Or I could be totally off base. I just think Fillmore is big for JJ solo.

Throw in STL ...and that's about my 1 day driving radius!
Come back to Bloomington , Jim, the Bluebird is calling ya.

I want a couple night run at the new Preservation Hall West in the Mission!! The pictures look absolutely amazing and intimate and a perfect fit for JJ.
The Great American Music Hall would be a great runner up and would definitely bring me down from Portland. Shit, you know I'll come down to the bay to see JJ, who am I kidding!

The Doug Fir would be siiiicckkkk...but I think it's a tad small. I could see him getting booked at The Aladdin as M.Ward's last couple hometown runs have been there. I like the Star Theater too, right down the street from me! I just hope it's not the Crystal. The sound there is so fucking horrible.

How about the Paramount in Oakland? That'd be awesome.
It'll probably be the Palace of Fine Arts in SF. Didn't Jim play a show there with John Prine?
There's also the Masonic. Lots of places to play.

How about they just announce the whole tour?! IMO, this announce a show here and there bizness is horseshit
Yeaaahhh Jim James should totally come to the Ryman or Chattanooga at Track 29 if that place ever gets their act together

You wonder if he has some festival sets planned if, as it appears, they are releasing tour dates in pieces.
Being in New Orleans, I am hoping for a JazzFest set, but I think we would have heard something by now if he is playing (lineup officially released later today). Regardless, hope he pays us a visit.
judging by the size of the first two venues announced, we may be seeing a tour with very, very small venues. Hopes of a Fillmore show in SF may be more like the Independent, Bimbos or Slims.
One wonders what size places and how many. Of course we'll find out a little at a time, I suppose. It would be nice if they would release all of the dates or at least the ones where he's playing non festival dates.
Johnny Brendas has a capacity of 250 to 300 and the Music Hall of Williamsburg has a capacity of 550.
So, yeah, it's going to get realllll intimate this tour.
CHIMMJfan said Lincoln Hall in Chicago, I think that's right on.

GAMH would be awesome, but I bet he can sell more tickets than that. I would guess Fillmore, Palace of Fine Arts, or maybe even Bimbo's. Fingers crossed for GAMH.
I'm not so sure he's concerned about maxing out ticket sales, based solely on the venue choices for NYC and philly, can't see him doing a 500 seat venue in NYC and a 250 in philly, and then doing the fillmore at about 1200. Who knows, but my guess would be something along the lines of the independent, gamh, bimbos, slims or cafe du nord. Also crossing fingers for gamh, best venue in the city in my opinion.

Maybe, but one doesn't preclude the others. He could do the tinkering early in the tour, but still announce the rest of the tour.

Well my point is that these wouldn't be part of the "tour". Perhaps they booked a few easy shows now and are still working with venues and managers and finalizing dates on a full run. But I don't know...i'm pulling these ideas out of thin air lol

Gotcha. You may be right, but I'm thinking with the release of the album in early Feb, I would think they would've at least had some other dates lined up, and able to release that info. It's not like this is coming out of left field, or just filling in some down time. The album/tour has been in the works for a while now, no?

There could be some other reason why they are delaying on announcing the full tour. I think it's very possible that Jim is playing Coachella, and they are delaying announcing the full tour until after Coachella is announced (likely next week).
Something similar just happened with Spiritualized, who announced tour dates last week which clearly showed they would be playing Coachella (based on the routing of other stops) and they then quickly retracted them.
I did hear someone say that Jim will be added to the New Orleans Jazzfest lineup, but that is being delayed until after Coachella is announced, so that fits in with this reasoning for why the tour announcement is being delayed besides these initial shows.
Also, I don't think the venues of these initial shows are at all indicative of the places he will play on the full tour. The Philly show sold out in a nanosecond or less, and he is not going to go on tour playing places that size and leave that much money on the table. I bet he will play places like the 9:30 club in DC and the Warfield in San Francisco, or venues of similar size (1,000 to 2,000 capacity).
I imagine Jim playing unique venues, I just hope he's somewhere near Chicago so I can see him!
Come to Indianapolis or Bloomington and if you play at a bar make sure I can get in since I am 20!
QuoteYeah, I'm putting a band together to do it. We'll probably do a few things when it comes out in February, but I really want it to be out at least a couple of weeks before we tour it. Because I want people to have a chance to digest it. When you tour immediately, it's kind of fun for people watching who don't know it, but it's kind of weird too. Especially for something like this where I've never put out a solo record before, because it's not like I have five solo records and people will know the older stuff. When we do the tour, I'm sure we'll do some of the My Morning Jacket songs, but I want people to have had a couple of weeks to know this record and want to see it live.
From Stereogum (http://stereogum.com/1243491/jim-james-on-my-morning-jacket-and-his-new-solo-lp-regions-of-light-and-sound-of-god/interview/).

(IF) Jim is playing both weekends of Coachella I really want to see a show at Spreckles theater in San Diego. Such an amazing place.
Although, I think Balboa theater would be a more ideal show for this size of tour.
Just hoping for one San Diego and/or Los Angeles show.

I seriously, seriously doubt there won't be one or several SoCal Jim dates. He has said he's going on tour in interviews, you really think the he would go on tour and skip one of the biggest population centers in the country?
I don't know why we don't have them yet, but there will be lots of dates eventually.
Almost all major festivals have an exclusivity clause preventing tour announcements until after their lineup drops. With Jim confirmed to be playing Roo, I expect we'll hear about the full tour in early February when the Bonna lineup is released.

Why are you taking every statement as somehow bad news for a So Cal show?
All this is saying is that sometimes bands that have prominent slots at festivals are made to wait until after the festival lineup drops to announce their own tour dates. I bet it is very very rare for a band to tour and skip Southern California.
Also, if Jim doesn't end up at Coachella, that's better news for you as it means you will get a full show at a decent venue instead of an abbreviated festival set with a huge crowd.
