"Next week, February 4th and 5th, Jim will perform tracks off his upcoming album Regions Of Light And Sound Of God with The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. February 4th he appears as musical guest and on the 5th will sit in as a guest member of The Legendary Roots Crew. Tune-in or set your DVRs"
he isn't on the band bench page yet but check back later this week and im sure it'll be up there: http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/about/band-bench/ (http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/about/band-bench/)
was able to score BB tix for when MMJ played in 2011. fun experience.
thanks to the kindness of boardmember WSS2, I was also in attendance. it, indeed, was a fun experience.

I was there too. Great times. I've done the band bench twice...always fun. Won't be trying for this one but will be recording the shows.
I was at the one during the T5 run . The played wordless chorus with the roots (which is nowhere to be found on the internet ) Bo grabbed my hanging foot after the performance .
Band Bench contest is live - http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/about/band-bench/ (http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/about/band-bench/)
Got the call today
Im going
May need someone to go with
My second time seeing Jim on the band bench. Can't wait. It says he'll be backed up by the Roots.
If anyone out there wants to be my plus 1 today let me know immediately
davedelsonno@gmail.com
My buddy bailed and the plus one shouldnt go to waste
Wish I could. Have fun.
What time is the taping? I just started working in NYC
I would guess like 2. Thats based off nothing other than when they recorded Letterman when MMJ was on there
Bummer. Just started this job last week. Can't leave unannounced in the middle of the workday. How did people get confirmation calls on Friday? I didn't get the Roll Call email to enter the contest until 4:46 on Friday
?uestloves tweet from this morning: "This @jimjames presentation on @LateNightJimmy is "epic" up there w/ the"Friday"spoof, the #Undun performance, & Portis/Radiohead TONITE!"
Now I'm REALLY excited!
this sucked
the band bench was cancelled bc jim had like a dozen ppl on stage for his one song performance (a new life)
the performance was great but it just sucked not getting the opportunity to be on the band bench
other than jim the show was a waste of time
I'm sorry to hear that. Who were all of the people? A choir or something?

I respectfully disagree. The guests were meh, but we didn't lose anything by being in the regular seats. I've been in the band bench, and it does not make the performance more fun. Unless you are right in front you can barely even see the artist!
That being said, A New Life was really fun, and I think it would ruin it to tell everyone about the performance.
this is way too good:

Can anyone find a video of this that works? The CoS video isn't coming up, the video on Fallon's site doesn't work, I can't wait until this afternoon to check my DVR, my planning block ends in 5 minutes... AHHHHHHHHHHH!
EDIT: Bless you, iPhone!
AMAZING! Wow! Jim's too good. Whew!

DRATS! I thought that for ONCE, I would be able to help with a technical issue! I watched it on my phone too. I love Jim's awkward dance moves!
That was amazing. That performance got me a little emotional to be honest.
wow, that was good. The Roots add so much to that song. Fun to watch.
I liked this arrangement. Scosby pointed out that they are all using Jim's guitars.
That was awesome.
Is Jim performing tonight or is he just sitting in with the band?
That's even his bass from various App Vox shows and the Headliners show in 2010.
Jimmy Fallon's reaction is Conan Obrian like. Awesome.
Was that meant to be a music video? The camera work and choreography of the musicians was fucking fantastic! String section were all smiles. Jim looking straight into the camera; he's really putting himself out there! Good on you Jim!
That was freaking awesome; I had to watch it on repeat.
How is he sliding backwards across the floor? The camera hides his legs, so I can't tell.
I showed the video of this to my buddy who appreciates Jim's work but hasn't exactly caught the bug yet, and his reaction was incredible. Just sheer awe of the performance.
This is going to be one helluva tour.

i thought it was a camera trick at first but was probably on a dolly or something

I have too many friends like that. Hopefully I can get one of them to sit through it and appreciate it.
That was pure greatness.

I feel like I'm at least partly to blame for the amount of people I know that are like that. I always say I'll make a mix and never follow through on it. Things get in the way, but I shouldn't let them. I should go make one now...
Holy crap this is amazing and has me so excited for these shows. I have been watching this video on repeat since last night.
It's hitting me hard as I am sitting in an airport getting ready to head back to my "old life" for a week to take care of my mom who will be recovering from a major surgery. This song in particular has hit me hard emotionally and has made me appreciate all the "stardust" that is around me in my new life I am living.
I have sent this video to a dozen or so of my friends I could never get into MMJ and they have all responded more or less with, "holy crap, I just witnessed something special, who is this guy?"
Be well everyone!!
that was outstanding. looking fwd to tonight. now to see if there are still Philly tickets
and no Philly tickets...
I stayed up late to watch Jim and of course, as usual he was magnificent. And Jimmy seemed to give him props!!!
wow that really was great!
OMG, that was sooooo joyful I got choked up! It is obvious all involved are nothing but thrilled to be there performing together. AWESOME. :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:
And, to know how vulnerable and uncomfortable Jim feels with the camera in his face and he just killed it. A real pro.
Love the suit, the sweet smiles, the awkward dancing. Love. The. Man.

I made a mix for a friend of mine full of some of their easier to digest tunes, but I am pretty sure he hasn't even listened to it once. He is hooked on Mumford and the Keys, so he has a long way to go.

Yeah, that New Life was pretty badass. It almost felt more like an SNL performance than just one of the late shows.
Psyched for tonight, hoping for State of the Art but not holding my breath. Just set the DVR now, didnt realize Local Natives were also performing on Fallon tonight! Fuck yes!! :bath:
Wow, what an incredible version of New Life!
I thought this album would be a hard sell in the mainstream but this song, and in particular this version, may suck a lot of people in.
I'm happy for you, Jim, going out on a limb once again and making it work wonderfully.

I think he is just sitting in with the band so we probably won't get a lot of Jim. Just little bits. It would be a good night to be in the audiance.

I was feeling State of the Art myself...but that is probably asking too much! Sitting in on the second night makes sense. I don't see many artists getting free range on the latenight circuit!!
Maybe Jim will share the stage with Justin Bieber! Sometimes dreams do come true. :undecided:

I'm pretty sure that'll put Jim back in his dark place lol
What a contradiction! Justin Beiber wearing a leather diaper style pants and Jim wearing the same brown suit he wore last night. I'd have rather heard Jim talk.
hearing Justin Bieber talk and then right to Jim so quickly between each other hurt my brain.
You realize he's singing in front of Bieber?
The Vowel Sounds was played but we didn't get to hear much of it.
What song did they start this break. I couldn't hear enough of it.
I hope the Beibs isn't the only guest. If he is, Jim had better understand that we have really shown our dedication by watching this
luckily i have friends in fallon places and was able to get this...
http://instagram.com/p/VXrSIqyCo5/ (http://instagram.com/p/VXrSIqyCo5/)
i will try and see if there are any recordings of the during commercial break jim/roots jamming. the probably play 6-7 songs during a fallon taping
no set list relayer?
Just played Dear God 2.0!!!
Also, Wamdakas, if you could get us the songs that would be awesome.
Justin Beiber was awful. It upset me watching Jim sing in front of Beiber.
Beiber came off as a massive douche during the section that Fallon kicked his ass in basketball.
We, well the studio audience, got Nobody by Keith Sweat. Jim should play that on his solo tour caus then ALL THE PANTIES BE DROPPIN'!!!! Seriously. CC- please pass this on to someone who can make it happen for the Nashville show.
I kept waiting for Jim to appear in the "Downton Sixbey" skit. Reminded me of the Okonokos intro at the mansion.
Me too Pones, me too.
Can someone break down what was played (on and off-air) last night (the 2nd night, Feb5th)?
And if there's any links to view please let us know! Thanks
Started off with
Know Til Now,
Of The Mother,
(Beiber and Fallon threw crap at a basketball goal around here)
Vowels,
dear God 2.0,
Nobody (Keith Sweat cover),
and maybe one other song that I couldn't tell what it was at the very end...all the rest I'm sure about

Since Jim appears before and after each commercial break, here's a link to the whole episode, though its not working on my work laptop...

While watching A New Life on Fallon, I melted, literally melted. It actually went through my head that the way I felt must be the way tweens feel at a Bieber show. So it was odd to see JJ and Bieber in the same room. What a strange juxtaposition!
Jimmy's enthusiasm for the Jim James song the night before was so awesome. Like, when introducing who Jim James was at the start of the 2nd show you could tell that his mind was blown by the "New Life" performance.
I absolutely LOVE that Fallon and the Roots are promoting Jim so much.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was a musical guest when he's around NYC in April.
I think one of the other song clips may have been Pastures of Plenty (Woodie Guthrie). This was between Bieber and Naomi Campbell.
I'm so bummed that, when I went to show my wife the performance from Monday night, I accidentally deleted it from the DVR! D'oh!
If anyone manages to find a way to download the video of New Life, please post.
The Roots should be backing Jim this entire tour. Actually, backing and opening for him. Black Thought looked real bored last night!

I've been saying this since 2.0, Hell i'll be happy to see them both at the same festival.
Jim seemed to be having fun and laughing when the dudebros were playing basketball! :cheesy: I was surprised that Jim & the Roots did that many of Jim's songs. How awesome Jim must've really been groovin' with the Roots :drum:
I skimmed through the episode but only saw a cameo appearance by Jim.
When were all these songs played?! Was it recorded? Can we watch it somewhere?!
The entire episode should be available on Fallon's website. Unfortunately, the second night of Jim's visit, it looks like the studio audience got to see all of the songs performed, but the viewers at home only got the first and last of them. It would be nice if we could see them.
Does the home audience see any of that Keith Sweat cover? Because I'd be alllllllllll over that! :bath:
Jim's performance and the entire huge band was just amazing. I can't wait to see it live.
Did anyone else see the Local Navtives at the end of the show. I've never heard of them before, but they sounded terrific. I checked out some of their new album..... sounds good. A little like Fleet Foxes?
