Hey friends....so this show is about to kick off the tour in a couple of days.
Hadn't heard much chatter about it (not surprising since I know there aren't tons of forum folks from South Florida).
I'll be driving up from Miami with a couple of friends. We've got lawn tickets, and we're hoping to get there around 4pm.
If you'll be going, I look forward to seeing you there.
1. Haldon + some friends
it'll be the first chance to hear about setlists, etc since that info has been hard to come by. Have a great time and please report back!!
I plan on having a great time.
I plan on reporting back.
However, if I have too good of a time , it may effect my ability to report back with accuracy....we'll see
Report back- we'll all understand if your memory is fuzzy.

How long does it take to set up the stage? 15 minutes to 20 minutes I assume? I was hoping for 1.5 hours, but it doesn't look like it will happen. Not sure why it was necessary to add a 4th act.
That gives Dylan nearly 2 hours of play time... Hopefully there is some collaborations to look forward to during his set.
Have a blast Haldon, and everyone else too!

Also, I would love to hear about the merch they are selling and any set list updates would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Have fun!
Just called the Tampa box office and start times are the same in tampa
I'll do my best to get details on as much stuff as I can.

yeah the 4th act sucks up too much time. would have been atleast 1.5 hours each without the 4th act.

I think most outdoor venues have a 11 PM curfew, so that gives Dylan 85 min.
As other have said, I wish they would have at least found a way to give MMJ and Wilco 90 minutes.
They just let us into the venue. Typically muggy overcast south Florida day. Merch wise, there are no special mmj or other artist posters. There is a small unimpressive joint artist poster that is pretty much the Americanarama logo/ad that you've all seen, with the date and location being the only unique aspect of it. There are also tshirts for sale.
That's it for now.

That's longer than some of the dylan sets I've seen. He did 70 minutes once and the price of the ticket came out to a dollar per minute.

Standard MMJ shirts? How much was the poster? I think it would be cool to have a poster with those three names on it. It's definitely a special tour.
Posters were $20. Looked to be a bit smaller in size than the usual posters.
Haldon - would be interested in knowing what Weir is playing (assuming you know the Dead and his solo stuff).

Thanks for the update, Haldon. You are going where no fan has gone before. We appreciate knowing there's a crappy poster and tshirts. I was hoping to add another totebag/keychain combo to my vast collection. My Jimchain needs some other musicians to play with when I play with him. Perhaps on the next real Jacket tour we'll get a Patchain, Carlchain, Bochain, and Tomchain. Let us know about the sets when possible. Also, I hope you wore some Gold Bond to combat that humidity.

And then right into the end of War Begun to blow everyone's panties off

Started out pretty much as expected, but not a typical festival set with Evelyn, War Begun, and Slow Tune. Hope they play for 1.5 hours!

Just kidding.
But seriously, for this leg, don't get your hopes up.
Thanks Haldon for the updates! Well I agree I wish it was 3 and not 4 bands playing but any bit of MMJ this summer was not initially expected, so I'll take it.
Evelyn I have not heard live since the Halloween show in Louisville so I would welcome that and any time War Begun or parts of War Begun is played is a happy day!
CHIMMJFAN
Looks like a pretty good list. Short.
TWTHS is a given...especially since Dylan is there and he is one of the influences of the song...can't go wrong with Evelyn though, the past few times I've seen them play Evelyn i definitely noticed I was the only person around me who a.) knew all the words and b.) knew mmj had a song named Evelyn...and I always watch shows from the rail or very close so you think the people that close would know it...good setlist though, definitely what I was expecting, mostly standard festival sets with a couple surprises for us die-hards each night. I'm looking for them to swap the closing songs just a lil but not too much, I think obh, Gideon, and anytime will be in the last song rotation...what I wish would happen...none of these songs are repeated tomorrow night...in the true spirit of Americanarama and spontaneity that would be my dream...do the WSP three show rule!! That way when I see them Saturday., Sunday, and Wednesday ill get all different songs...wishful thinking

my wife walked down the aisle to Ripple when we got married. Stoked to see that. I'd love to see Weir with MMJ too. I'm ready for them to really expand their covers. I'm thinking Estimated Prophet or West LA Fadeaway might be best. Especially since they're, you know, actual Bobby songs.

jim james was chilling on the side of the stage thru the end of the dylan set......too bad he didnt play with bob
At least he didn't get thrown out this time. Progress.
Scosby, you weren't the only one around you at PC who knew all the words to Evelyn, but you were the first one to recognize that they were going to play it!
Whippersnapper- I concur with your love of the Evelyn >>Funky Improv Jam mandate.
Fully, what do you mean get thrown out? I haven't heard this story...
WH7:
What a dumb question... Must be a loser hipster who does not know anything, moron. Go put on your clarks, eye glasses, and flannel so you can take pics of yourself at the show to post on facebook, loser.
ps dont forget to bring your double soy latte to the show
Wrap yourself in tin foil and go climb the tallest tree during the next thunderstorm.

Drive your car really fast and see how tightly you can wrap it around a tree.
Glad to see I wasn't the only irked by the unnecessary attack.
Anyone see what the poster looks like? By Haldon's description it sounds like it's the flyer we've all seen but with the venue name printed on it? Can't find anything on the web.

You are showing your youthful age, scosby. It was the Grateful Dead who invented the famed 3 Show rule. WSP copied them, but its a great idea that I wish most bands would follow!

I was going to say something, but i feel like acknowledging it would have made things worse...
It's ok WH7Gator. I didn't know that story either. Thanks for enlightening me Fully and Brooke.

Looks like Jim didn't have time or want to change back to the brownfit. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Call me crazy, but the start sounds kinda awesome too! Both "Things Have Changed" and "Love Sick" are two of the best songs he's written in the last few decades. Bob's comin' out swingin'!
I won't call you crazy, but I will call you someone who must not have heard recent live versions of "Things Have Changed," as Dylan has totally obliterated everything cool about that song with what he is currently doing with it live.
I'm a big Dylan apologist and love how he is always rearranging his songs, but he really F'ed up on that one.

So far both MMJ and Wilco have played only a couple repeats each in the first two nights, this is looking very promising already! I'm getting stoked for it!

hahaha...you are correct my good man...i remember watching a wsp documentary (the earth will swallow you) and it shows how their setlist maker does his magic...it's quite impressive and involves many a magic marker and highlighter...
