I should have known you already had this up, Johnny. You are a gentleman and a scholar. And Yeh, the T5'ers are spoiled! But I guess people who live in glass houses shouldnt cast stones. Saw 14 shows on spontaneous curation in 2012, which harpooned a lotta whales:)
Including (Wiltern, good shows, but the ppl/fans? Eh?),(red rocks, holy shit!, Face melt), and (Portchester, welcome home, best run, best fans, "real Topika ppl-Almost famous)
And I said no covers "same in any LANGUGE" was actually written by Cameron Crowe- for Elizebethtown. A MMJ fan favorite if you like Ruckus, and I love Ruckus. Performed by Ruckus(great band).
FLAMING FREEBIRD!!!
i will sing you songs.
war begun
strangulation
I think i'm going to hell
War Begun

Don't get the criticism if the Wiltern crowd. I had a blast with strangers. I have been to 6 LA shows and have never in the 10 total shows I have seen ever heard By My Car.
3 Day Stints like Port Chester really help shorten lists like this. I've seen them 4.5 times (Millennium Park/Port Chester, and Americanarama is the .5). They Ran is the first one that pops out- would have been nice to get that instead of a very unfortunate Lionel Richie song near the end of the third Port Chester show.
I'm sure there are others, though.
Maybe I should comment in the other thread but I wanted to speak specifically about the OP's white whale
Should "Just One Thing" be considered one of the biggest rarities of the catalog? I've been to 11 shows and never seen it. That includes 2 3 night stands.
Such a good song and seems straightforward enough for them to play every so often. I wonder what the reason is for them not whipping this one out on occasion
my other White Whale is "If it Smashes Down"
Australia must be lucky. They played Just One Thing in Melbourne 2009.
I'd kill for "Just One Thing". It seems like they played it at sound checks during spontaneous curation series.
My other two have to be "Chills" and "One in the Same"
Actually, I change my answer to the song that started it all for me, "Hopefully".
The said thing is during the Jim James solo shows, we saw him 2 nights in a row (4th time of the Regions album) and we were supposed to go to Houston for the 3rd night in a row. Last second we said screw it we didn't want to drive.
Sure enough, during his encore he played "Hopefully". Needless to say I was crushed. Lesson learned.
After 20+ shows, I can't believe I haven't seen Just One Thing and Rollin' Back. I'm missing other songs as well, but those I'm not as surprised about.
Thank gawd for the 5 glorious nights at T5.

Amen.
eh before port chester mine was What A Wonderful Man, it kept slipping me
Strangulation!
For me it's 'Sweetheart'...any idea when they last played it?
Even though I saw Steam Engine at the T5 show I knew it was coming so I'd love to see it again without it being expected.
I'd also love to see Carried Away but I don't know if that fits the criteria of this thread either.
By My Car and Into the Woods are my two. I will always regret not attending T5
Oooh and Come Closer

As far as "Carried Away" goes. (I'll allow it, pending Mr. Yac's approval , who's thread I accidentally co-opted). It was written by a member of MMJ(CARL!!!), and is performed by MMJ as a band, a rare treat, like many songs penned by Jim. So I think the rules can bend a little on that one. Anyone with any doubt if that counts as a MMJ song, pause here, watch the YouTube video of "Carried Away" at Portchester, and tell me that's not an MMJ song  ?!? Just one guys opinion.
Still get chills thinking about that night...
it just dawned on me. I don't think I've ever seen "Where to Begin" either.
That's a must for me
The ultimate whitey-white whale of all MMJ time has to be Holy.
Where to begin!
