I'm a "maybe" for this, but would be more likely if I can find a couch to crash on or some folks to split lodging.
Has it been stated how much these will cost?
any chance of a bulk rate somewhere downtown?

I haven't decided if I'm gonna take the metra in everyday or get a hotel. I might wait to see how the tickets are gonna go for.

We could, but i think the discount would pale in comparison to a priceline deal. Places like port chester where options are limited a group rate is probably the way to go. In chicago, as long as nothing massive is going on one should be able to priceline a four star hotel within walking distance for less than 100 a night no problem.
I don't know about that. Chicago in the summer is a totally different animal. I just checked, and there is not a whole lot for less than $150...BUT the el drops you off right outside the theater, so you can expand your search both north and south and west of the city proper and take the el in...some O'Hare hotels might offer deals...it would be like a 30-40 minute el ride
Im just going to post back to back here.. Really excited.. To me this is better than OBH by a mile. I did have a good time in mexico but almost every facet of this experience will be better at about 1/3 of the cost (did the math). True, you cannot replace being on a warm "beach" in february. But better food, better beer, better venue (stage wise and sound wise), not having to fight way through a crowd after using the rest room to get back to your general area but having an assigned seat, longer sets and most definitely better sets from a pure performance standpoint...give me chicago '15 any day of the week.
will the Chicago theatre stick with seating or will they make a pit?
Back when they played here in 2008, they had a pit area from what I recall, and the rest was reserved seating.

Ahh, you are right. However, those are base prices. Expect those to go down significantly with a name-your-price bid or even an express deal. Still, doesn't look like we will be able to get within walking distance for less than 100 though. Like MamaKel said, there are a ton of cheaper options if you are okay with taking the public trans.
WOW....this and MPLS two nights is REALLY taking the sting out of the whole Dead debacle....I like the sound of this MUCH better than 60k in a stadium...
how do I find out if i am still a member of roll call, without having to rejoin????
Does anyone have a sense of how big the Roll Call allotment of tickets is? Trying to decide if I want to re-register my membership. I can't afford the $40 Deluxe right now, will there be pre-sale tickets left for the 10:30 window, or would I probably have better luck right with the public on-sale?
Hoping for no repeats but happy with whatever!

Honestly, your guess as is good as any of ours. It's always a mystery. Ive seen the best seats go through roll call and i've seen better seats released after roll call.
Right now, my biggest concern is whether there will be the option of a 3 day ticket (in the same seat) or if I'll just have to be quick with my ordering to get all 3 nights in good spots. And if there is no 3 day option, do i need to open up three different roll call windows at once or can i just select all three nights and have three sets of seats shown to me?
I'm sure this info will come to light soon enough.
damn, y'all get Hiss Golden Messenger opener too.

I was thinking we have to open up three separate Roll Call Windows (4 for me at the same time if I'm trying to get Milwaukee tickets, although that show might be GA). And I couldn't remember if you were able to purchase 2 tix or 4 tix per order through Roll Call?

Well that definitely helps if its GA, I don't think that will sell out right away in Milwaukee.

In the past, Roll Call pre-sale tickets would get you "early entry" to the Riverside - you'd be able to have access to the stage pit area, get up close and have Jim sweat on you.
Otherwise the Riverside is GA.

The Chicago Theatre has a pit, but the pit is reserved seating.
I have never been to a show at The Chicago Theatre that has had a general admission pit--and that includes the MMJ shows back in 08 or whenever it was.

After being bummed about no shows nearby, I was just informed that I'll be in Chicago for business that week. Can't wait!

If I were visiting Chicago on a budget I would stay here...

Its a 5 min walk to the Damen Blue Line train stop, get off at the Clark/Lake stop and walk another 5 min to the Chicago Theatre.

It's a really cool little hotel in a real neighborhood and the restaurant downstairs is fantastic. Its also near the Blue Line.

Get tickets ASAP since the Cubs sell out fast. Wrigley is THE place for a game (and Fenway). I might go to Chicago for this run but would have to leave Friday early. I haven't been to Wrigley in 20 years. If I make this trip, I would consider going to the Thursday night game for a few innings and miss the opening act.

Looking at the detailed seating chart, I'm going to say they're permanent assigned pit seats. Just like Radio City or The Mann. I've never been there, and could be wrong but that's my thinking.
Yes, reserved pit as confirmed earlier in this thread.

For the shows at Chicago Theatre June 9-11 the event page says that "please note: there will be multiple ticket options for this show (general admission pit, reserved orchestra and multi-day tickets)" - ...so, for the multi-day tickets option what section will the seats be in- GA pit or reserved orch?
Also, how big is the GA pit?

I'm thinking we'll have the option of trying for GA Pit or Reserved with the multi-day tix. At least that's the way I read it.
I don't think the pit area is very big. From the pics I saw there's only 90 or so folding chairs in there that will be removed so I'm thinking the usual 1.5-2 Ga standing tix per seat. 150-175 would be my guess, 200 tops.
woah!
the multi-day tickets are a very nice surprise. if they are selling 3 day tickets then truly the only thing that makes this event different from a Wiltern or Port Chester is the fact that it's an album tour.
just thought of a few questions, that may or may not be answerable:
1. Are the three day passes available to the general public or just roll call? Does anyone remember if the general public had access to 3 day passes for Port Chester like we did?
2. I wonder about the distribution of tickets. Are there drastically more GA Pit 3 day passes available than Reserve Orchestra 3 Day or vice versa? Seems it would be easiest to have lots of 3 Day pit passes. Also, are there more Single Day tix available than 3 Days overall, or vice versa? The strategy here is very tough.
3. How much do you think they monitor the pit in terms of keeping those without Pit passes out? Seems like it could be alright but not if it's getting jammed up with people.. In that scenario i'd rather have my own seat (and space) a bit further back.
Was depressed I had to sit out for OBH 2, but totally thrilled that they announced a 3 nighter in my home town!! be there Every night and in Milwaukee. A buddy of mine may be moving to denver in a few months so maybe RR as well :)

It looks tiny. It's there on the seating chart. These will go quick.... hopefully all to Roll Callers. Pearl Jam (over the last two years) had every GA pit ticket available for their fan club members. None were sold during the regular on sale. There have been plenty of mishaps with their fan club sales over the years though.
Here's a pic of the stage/ pit/ front of orch/ balcony

I'd imagine they'll try and pack that pit, but like every other venue, especially in big cities, there's a fire code, and how many they actually allow in there will depend on that.
Since there's only 90-100 seats I don't think they'll be more than 200 standing in there. JMHO.
so essentially the best option is to get multi-night tix for GA pit right?

Who knows? There might be more multi night reserved available, and if you try for pits, and don't get them, good reserved or all of them for that matter might be gone. It's really up to what each individual really wants, and what risk they're willing to take.
No one really know how many tix will be available, and what that break down is. I'm an optimist but going by past presales I'm keeping my hopes low, and if I score something good, that'll be a bonus. I'm still not sure what I'm going to try for, except it'll be a multi night ticket.

No other multi night has both ga and reseerved. However, where chicago's event page lists:
*please note: there will be multiple ticket options for this show (general admission pit, reserved orchestra and multi-day tickets).
..the atlanta show lists both reserved floor and reserve loge instead of combining them into one section like reserve orchestra in chicago. Clearly these will be different price points. So we may be able to get a glimpse into the plan for chicago by looking at atlanta at 9cst. If they sell 3 day passes, best available for atlanta then it may be a good sign.
The thing that is strange about the chicago show is that ticketmaster only lists two price points. 39 and 70 dollars after fees. For primus there are four price points which makes much more sense. It does make you wonder if roll call got the whole pit. Surely there would be a different price point for pit and reserved, right? I think maybe the higher price point is for reserved floor, mezz, and loge (first three rows of balc), and then the lower point could be for the balcony.
May we all get what we want tomorrow morning. Then let the Roll Calls commence!

3L Row HH night 1
Pit Night 2
Nothing Night 3 but still trying.
Must have been like 5 3 day passes available.
Do we think they will be adding any more at 11:30? I got 2 tix in pit for nights 2 and 3 , and have one sitting in my cart for night 1, hoping another pops up. Otherwise I'll be dropping it.
Holy crap did those go quick......
Was on at 10 on the dot and lost out on all options.
Log IN right at 10AM and cant even get a single for any of the three nights. Fuck this fan club

Kinda weird that for almost all other shows it was Will-Call only and for Chicago it says (and I paid for) my tickets to be shipped.
Think it's just an innocent error or is it intentional?
Crazy stuff... it was pretty much sold out from the get go, but i kept refreshing while looking into STL, KC and MKE.. All of a sudden it popped up and unlike when it happened to me on the Athens page i was very quick with the clicks..
Ended up with two tickets, 3-nights, 3L row EE, one seat from aisle.
Was actually hoping to get Loge, though. If anyone ends up with loge, middle two sections, first couple of rows, i may be willing to talk trade since these seem to be paper tickets.

intentional. thats how Columbus is as well. Which is fantastic.
Ground Control f***s up yet again. I can't get any tickets what soever as it says I need a membership. Even though last week they said I could access 10AM presale tickets. I have an email from them stating this to me as I have a valid roll call account.
Unreal....
Pretty painless experience for me compared to past Chicago presales (Auditorium Theater 2011 and Pritzker 2012, ugh)....lucky enough to land pit for nights 1 and 3, and then 3L row DD for night 2. Wish I had extras, but all are spoken for as of now.
Only gripe would be...no will-call option? In my excitement to checkout, I went ahead and paid for the UPS shipping too (USPS is free). Much prefer to not worry about checking shipping/mail for the tickets and just get them at the venue...but so it goes.
Super excited!!!
As i figured, there was an element of risk by not going 3 day pass right away. However, some of you guys did really well by doing that. If all you need is one more ticket then you are sitting pretty. I'm actually surprised that people were able to do that well by not going 3 day.
This reminds me of Pearl Jam's onsales- they have become such a fiasco. The problem isn't even so much the system, it's that there is not enough tickets allocated for the fan club. Sold out in under 30 seconds, really?
Welp, pretty much a waste of $15 for the 'Digital membership'. Did nothing for me. All seats were already sold out at the moment the supposed Digital membership presale started. Did they even make any available for that? Sorta dumb.
Damn, those went fast.
thought I missed out but kept clicked back and a GA ticket opened up for the first night!!
Got it at like 10:15
I'm not even sure why I bothered with Roll Call if they're not going to allocate enough tickets for the fan club as I'm sure tickets will be much easier to get in the other sales.
holy hell what a clusterfuck
I tried for 3 nights for a single ticket and got all three nights Section 3R Row GG. Was hoping for PIT but I'm definitely not gonna complain.
I have to say I'm glad my friends bailed out and chose to go to Milwaukee as maybe that helped me get a seat each of the three nights.
CHIMMJFAN
to be honest, i never would have went with the digital roll call.. if tickets last longer than 30 minutes in the presale then you probably could have just waited for the general on sale anyway. Maybe the band('s management) just severely underestimated demand.
Honestly, this was ridiculous. I don't think Port Chester was like this. Anyone else remember?

after today, I think the digital roll call is a seriously fucked up thing to offer. I'm sure it helped me in the end because some people had to wait until 10:30, but GC or whoever is making these decisions are fucking some of the fan base. People paid 15 bucks to not even have a shot at buying tickets 30 minutes after everyone else.

I agree when it comes to the tough ticket but there are still tix out there for shows. Eg,MPP still has ga's available as do some others.
FTR, PC presale tix were gone in a flash. Not that many RC's got them compared to the amount that were trying.

Same here. Completely shut out of Chicago. Been Roll Call member for 4 years. I was on my browser for the last hour with a fiber connection and zero luck. WTF. Unreal. So now I have to battle up against the public for those other tickets leftover.
Those other tix left over will be the majority of the theater. I don't believe there were many tix made available, just like for the Port Chester shows. The only thing that will probably take some work is nabbing three single show tix. As of now TM isn't showing a multi night option so that'll make for more work, but I'm betting plenty of tix are in their system, and good ones too.
I just pulled a DD ticket in Chicago for night three. Is it worth it to get it or should I just wait for the other sales this week?
I have one already for night two.
so whats the best bet now? will there be Pit tix available for the 3 nights left over? will we just have to buy them individually? will the MMJ site have more 3 day reserved options available?
The way I recall them describing the "digital roll call" presale was that more tickets would be made available for that slot, after the deluxe slot. That did not seem to be the case. A little deceptive, but whatever.

DD is pretty good. Marked with white line in the picture. Won't get much better unless you get pit which will probably be hard during general sale (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/09/3d054729b0de86e46ab87ad3cbfec825.jpg)

god damn that's a beautiful venue. tiny pit too, that explains why they disappeared so quickly.
I'm in EE on the other side, but quite frankly i have some concerns about the sound and sight line from there. The seating chart makes it look like 3L and 3R are at a much better vantage point compared to the edge of the stage than they actually are.
Anyone ever sat in 3L or 3R at Chicago Theater? I've only every sat loge and always loved it.

If I'm a Roll Call member, and have been for four years, why do I need to even wait to battle with the public sale 4 or 5 days from now via Ticketmaster? Shouldn't I have some avenue to purchase good tickets between now and then versus battling with non-Roll Call members?
You did have an avenue to purchase tix, you just got shut out. It's happened to us all. Management never guaranteed us tix for being RC members only an opportunity to prchase what is a limited number of them during a presale.
I wasn't trying to argue with you only tried to ease your stress with my earlier post. For PC there was a lot of RC's shutout of the presale, and lots of worries all around. Turned out they never had a lot of presale tix to offer, and everyone I know was able to get them at the general on sale.
Good luck, and I hope it works out for ya.

I took it. I've been in about the same spot before, but I was just wondering if it's going to be that hard to get pit in the other sales. I grabbed it and figured that this way I'll only have to try hard for one pit ticket for the first night rather than scramble for multiple nights later this week.
My memory is not great... are we 100% that the public sale is through Ticketmaster?
Work blocks me from accessing Ticketmaster from in-office...

Gloriously, persistence has paid off. Somehow managed to walk away with the first two nights long after the 10am hit. Going to have to shoot for the third night via the public on-sale.

I got shut-out of the Knoxville, Tenn. pre-sale (issues with my laptop, then had to switch to another desktop...too late). So, I tried for Chicago, night 3. I got myself a really good seat - Main Floor 4L, Row CC, Seat 407. From the looks of it, my seat should be only 3 rows behind the Pit seating and just slightly to the left of center (when facing the stage). I'm pretty happy with it.
Also, I guess they will be mailing us the tickets. That is much better than "Will Call" as far as I'm concerned.
Nice! I thought maybe it was only the multi night tix getting shipped but evidently not. Seems it's this whole three night run. every other show I bought today is the usual RC Will Call pickup. ( MPP, St.Augustine, Orlando)
Yeah, i think it was much easier to get those close center seats by searching for one night at a time. Good job.
If anyone has any extras for these 3 shows please let me know. Would like to lock some down before the TM Public sale.

At first It seemed like I was shut out but I kept on refreshing. Was only able to get one 3-day pass. Was hoping to score 2 tix each for a few buddies of mine. If anybody is looking for 1-3day pass, I think I'm going to try my luck during the public sale on Saturday. I will sell them for what I paid. They are section 3R, row R. It's one ticket for all 3 nights. Again i Would really like to go with some friends so that's why I'll let these guys go and take my chance on Saturday. Already have tickets locked in for milwaukee
Got section 3L row DD for night 1. I still may try for GA at the public sale since I'll be flying solo. Either way should have a great view. Can't wait!
1. I have an extra for 6/10 in Section Main Floor 3L, Row DD. I'll trade it for a single for 6/9 or a single for 6/11.
2. Anybody have any info on the presale for Friday at 10am through TM?
regular sale is saturday? why the fuck do they do the presale when everyone is at work and sell to the public on the weekend?
I really dislike having to scramble for tickets during a busy work day. It worked out though, I just put my phone off the hook , I got row EE. Very Happy  Sorry to hear about all war stories regarding this presale. I must have just gotten lucky.
To all those that got tickets, congrats it's going to be a joyous 3 days! To those that didn't do to lack of tickets or WU error my apologies. I am dealing with losing tickets to Red Rocks that I had today due to WU issue that they are blaming on Paypal, lol.
Good luck on the public sale and hopefully everyone scores the tickets they need!

Yes, I am very curious about that too. The page for the Chicago shows on the official site lists Saturday as the date for "general" tickets to go on sale. Is there anything special we need to do to get tickets on Friday at the "presale?" Hopefully the tickets will be sold at face value!

What is an Internet Presale?
Occasionally, some events will be available to purchase over the Internet in advance of the general public onsale. These presales frequently require a password that may be distributed by the venue, artist, team, or promoter of either the event or the presale, or distributed by Ticketmaster. Often, these passwords are distributed to exclusive members of clubs or certain other types of groups and cannot be offered to members of the public. Links may be published on the Event Information page at the time of presale. Ticketmaster Order by Phone and Customer Service representatives usually cannot give out passwords. If an event is scheduled for presale and we are authorized to publish so in advance, the event page may list an "Internet Presale" date in the ticket onsale information. When entering your presale password into a promotional page, window or box in an email, please ensure you are entering it in the appropriate box: A presale password is not the same as your My Ticketmaster password.
Internet presales are usually sold from an allotment of seats, which may not reflect the same availability during the public onsale. Internet presales provide the advantage of exclusive purchasing windows in advance of the public onsale, which often results in less people competing for the pool of available seats. However, Internet presales may also have limited seating available in various areas - these presales are intended as advance purchasing windows and do not necessarily provide access to better seating. In fact, it is possible that you may be able to obtain tickets for better seats at the general public onsale than those that you purchase through a presale. We must remind you that Ticketmaster does not offer refunds or exchanges, so you will not be able to replace the tickets you obtain at a presale with other tickets that subsequently become available.
So, the question now is how do you get the password for this presale?

Go to wxrt and follow their MMJ link. I believe the password is 93MMJ

Does anyone have confirmation of this? I went to their website and didnt see anything about a code. Filled out a contest form and didn't receive an email with it as well.
I can confirm, i saw the code 93MMJ a couple of days ago. Maybe they put it up on their site and took it down so it was that much more rare to come across i guess?
Here is the page with the code:

i just went to their home page and its the first thing that pops up. was not there 9 hours ago though.
The excitement is real.
anyone seeing anything?
The WXRT pre sale sold out in less than the 2 seconds it took for me to click the find tickets link. This game is maddening sometimes
I was hoping to upgrade from my GILT purchase so it's not the end of the world. 75 tix for Tue already up on Stub Hub, damn.
The presale sucked!
Pulled a pretty good pair for Night 1 (2L Row LL), and nothing for Night 3.
I managed to score decent 3 day reserved in the center - going with party of 3 if anyone got 3-night PIT tickets and would like to trade out one of the nights to get the sound and light experience I would be willing to swap out one of the nights if you have 3 :)
hit me up!
There's another Presale code
WATERFALL - from Jam Mail...
I just got 4 night 3 loge tickets just off center second row.. Stoked.. now I have all three nights thank goodness as I am flying across the country to get there.
Good luck everyone
If you have chase there were still some tickets in the chase presale. All you need is a chase card.
I managed to get a pair of 3 days after some trying. Didn't end up getting them until about 10:25, so got lucky. 4R Row D so decent. This was not with Chase and no presale password needed
Would love to get Pit for one night still.
Also have an extra pair for Tuesday I got before I got the 3 day. Will sell at face+fees and transfer from ticketmaster. Section MNFL3L, Row K. Just let me know

This is true.
Managed a pair of 3 day main floors at 10:25 with no code...
I don't get it, but I'm not complaining !!!
After the complete clusterf%ck that was Roll Call pre-sale, this Non-Fan Club pre-sale went much smoother for me at least...
scored 2 Three Day Pass in Row D on the middle aisle in 3L
and my wife scored a pair for Thursday 6/11 in Row G for our friends.
Thank You WXRT and Chase. Keep your crappy t-shirts and No Thank You to Roll Call.
I was able to get 4 tickets LOGE2R 2nd row for night 1, which I am very happy about! By the time I tried for night 3 didn't get very good seats but got 2 and am there! Plus all seats at the Chicago Theater are pretty good.
The anticipation of this presale since trying for tickets and failing on Monday has been killing me, so I am very excited to have tickets and be going!

Couldn't pull anything from the public onsale for Night 3
Extra 3 Day Pass available (x2) PM if interested..
Possibly extra x2 Night 1 also
Yeah, i already got tickets but i was going to see if i could upgrade for one night and sell the remainder to a forum member. Wasn't on right at 10, probably 30 seconds later.. and nothing in loge in night two or three.
The chicago ticket market is pretty fierce. Guarantee that you will see a TON of these tickets on stub hub and other sites. I had extras to Arcade Fire a few years back. They played like 3 nights in a row and although the shows were sold out i couldn't sell them for face value because the scalping had far exceeded the actual demand for the show.
That said, i think it's a safe assumption that the band has gained a few fans since the last time they played Chicago theater.
I've already posted in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread but I'll post this here too:
I have an extra for 6/10 in Section Main Floor 3L, Row DD. I'll trade it for a single for 6/11 in section 4L or section 3L, first five rows or so only. PM if interested.

And even then, I remember thinking during the last Chicago Theatre run that the band's crowd was starting to get too big and starting to attract some really unwanted types of concertgoers.

Well, in order for me to make all three nights, I need a little help. I could not get a ticket for night #3, Th. 6/11, at any of the presales or public onsale. Anyone with a spare, I'd love to have a shot at it. I'd prefer main floor section 3 or 4, loge, or GA pit. I can always throw in some other special treats (I don't mean weed, btw).

Nevermind. I decided to try again and scored 4L row B. Not great, but not bad.
Anyone know what the Loge seating is like?
We have 3 day main floor but mamma wanted to be higher for one show and we managed to score 3R BB Loge for Thurs.
Just trying to figure out if they are good or not....
That said may have 2 main floor 3R row K available depending on what she decides to do.
havent been there, but soooo stoked for 3 full nights !!

I'd consider 3R BB Loge an upgrade from 3R K main floor. Its closer to the stage and pretty visible in this photo (3R BB is circled).

I love the loge there. Very nice, great view.
Actually, im looking to swap tickets with someone for night 2 or 3 if anyone is interested. Ive got two 3-day tix in 3L row EE (fifth row from pit) seats 303 and 305 (one seat into section from right side aisle) and would like to be in row AA of any of either 3L, 3R, or 4 (in balcony, preferably 4 or 3R) for June 10th or 11th. Plan on getting in touch with nature that night and those seats would allow us to sit back and just take it all in. Would be a great trade for anyone who wants to get a taste of the floor for one night. PM me if interested.

Anyone know what the Loge seating is like?
We have 3 day main floor but mamma wanted to be higher for one show and we managed to score 3R BB Loge for Thurs.
Just trying to figure out if they are good or not....

Thanks Yac, she's pretty excited, wasnt sure, but thought that might be the case. After OBH she's looking to be able to see clearly one night and as a vertically challenged person the thought of being above the stage for her is all it takes.

getting more excited everyday. Bringing my best friend (big jacket fan) and new gf (never seen an MMJ show before, she's starting to love them).
I'm now gonna speculate with her about which songs they will play, and was thinking about the breakdown of the setlists.....Port Chester had 67 songs with 3 covers and 1 Carl song.
So for Chicago, what do y'all think the breakdown will be? I'll give them 22 songs each night, so 66 total. Definitely 10 of those will be from The Waterfall, leaving 56. Possible 5 covers and 1 carl song? So that leaves 50 songs from old material...is that reasonable?
Has anyone started to look for hotels? Any locals have advice? I'm not finding anything near the venue for less than 200-250 per night. Where should we look that is a little further out, close to public transportation?
Also anyone else planning on the Cubs game Friday? We got our tickets, can not wait.

Any place downtown will be pretty pricey. Sometimes groupon has some pretty good deals so you could check there, but I don't know think that will be your best bet. I would look at places along the cta blue line. You can probably find some decent rates that are right off of that. You can take this into the loop to get to the show. Also the blue line stops at Addison which is like a mile and a half away from wrigley, buttt your cta pass works for the buses as well do you can just get off the L and onto the bus.

I'm not familiar with Chicago, and am staying close to the venue, but I have some friends going to GD50 who are staying out by the airport, and taking the train into the city each day. Supposedly the rooms are a lot cheaper, and the train isn't costly.
I'm sure some more local people will chime in with some great advice.
Edit to say GD50 is over a Holiday weekend, and that might be a factor in those rooms being cheaper, as most hotels near airports are "businessmen" hotels. Who cater to business travelers. They usually have cheaper rates on weekends as most of their business is during the week.

I would consider looking at https://www.flipkey.com/ (https://www.flipkey.com/) or homeaway.. When I travel to other cities, I try these places, usually cheaper then a hotel.. I checked for Chicago, plenty of options.

If they are going to the dead, odds are they are staying close to Ohare airport which is right off the blue line. Rosemont isn't a bad area to look for hotels. There is a bunch of cool stuff right there by the airport.

Pretty sure you're right. That sounds familiar. Their plan is to just crash at the hotel, and spend most of their time in the city without having to rent a car to get there. They would've preferred being right in the city but this was the next best thing for them.

AAA will be part of the GA pit for this show - not an actual row.
edit: unless you mean row AA of the balcony? If so, sorry - misunderstood.
I wouldn't personally recommend staying out at the airport - it's a good hour to downtown and there's nothing to do out there unless you have a car. But if the price is right, it's easy enough to take the train.
Check out airbnb or homeaway for cheaper rentals closer to downtown.

I'm with you there, it's not my thing but evidently my buddies saved enough cash for that hour each way to be worth it.
I checked some rates by O'Hare for the MMJ dates and they aren't as cheap as my friends got for the GD50 weekend, at least the bigger chains I checked.

And yeah I booked on a whim so I need to convince a few other people to come out and split a hotel. But i recommend staying downtown if you can. Not too much going on out by the airport. I had a friend who used to live by Wrigley in Lincoln Park and that was a pretty great area. Although idk how many hotels are in that area really.

Oops, i did mean AA. For some reason i was seeing three of 'em. Edited. Thanks.
Thanks for the help. We went with 1BR condo in Lincoln Park via AirBnB. It's right across the street from the Red Line which I think will take us to the Theatre.

Chicago Theatre is one of my favorite venues, if you've never been there, you are in for a treat. Last spring saw The National there in the 3rd row and went to both nights of MMJ last time around. The place is stunning, pictures don't do it justice. For people looking for things to do, there is a lot of shopping right there on State St. if you don't feel like going over to Michigan Ave. Took my wife and daughter to see Sara Bareilles at the Theatre and they were completely content with the shopping within a few blocks of the show. Also a Chik Fil A next door and a Potbelly across the street if you want something quick to eat. There is a record store a few blocks south and 1/2 block east as well. There is a parking deck right by the Theatre if you are driving but don't remember the cost, maybe $20-25? Really bummed I can't go this time around, but can't wait for the reports.
Quote from: Mr. White on Mar 16, 2015, 02:32 PM
Edit: The parking next to the hotel is $39 per day with the hotel's discount. (Pretty bogus you have to pay for outside parking, but it appears to be the normal money grab for being downtown.)
You'll be paying for parking just about everywhere in Chicago. Even in residential neighborhoods there are deeded parking spaces.
Just saw the Alabama Shakes Saturday night at the beautiful Chicago Theater.
AMAZING SHOW doesn't even come close to describing what Brittany and the band did on that stage. Goosebumps! Fleshed out sound, new band member and back up singers make this a tour not to be missed. Cannot recommend catching a show enough. Opener was great as well!
But I digress: I've seen btween 75-100 of all variety of shows, from all different kinds of bands at the Chicago Theater over the years. Wonderful place! BUT Saturday night I saw something I've never seen there before, A WORKING DOG w/handler at the entrance and walking around the venue, and past bathrooms. I'm just putting this information out there. Whatever you like to do, or how you experience shows is nobody's business but your own, no judgement here. However, the Cook County "bed & breakfast" (jail) has some pretty bad yelp reviews :)

I would imagine it could still be a drug dog, but the command to seek out drugs wasn't given. The majority of the times you see dogs at airports or anywhere else they are there for intimidation. Now randomly they may issue the command and once they do the dog will go looking. Until the command is given, the dog could care less about the millions of odors it smells (aside from other doggy buts)... Either way, be careful.
I think a large part of it could be that there was a shooting at a club over the weekend in Logan Square.
Download and use Spot Hero when you come into town, in my experience lower prices than advertised in the same garages.
Also play with the times you are booking for, sometimes I book for longer and get a cheaper rate. Just make sure you can get your car out when you need to.

i hear what you are saying, but from what i understand there are drug dogs and there are bomb dogs and never the twain shall meet. and once again, from what i understand, the dogs you see in airports are bomb dogs. obviously allowing for some exceptions in places like customs areas or airports where there is a lot of known trafficking.

Lesson being: Vacuum seal and smoke one-hitters in the bathroom...
Security at the Chicago Theater has always been pretty intense...pat downs...roaming guards...aisle watchers
We just reserved a room at Rays Bucktowm B and B. They have lots of rooms left and it would be fun to fill it up with MMJ fans. The prices are reasonable, you get a gourmet breakfast included, free parking, steam room, and a short walk to the Blue line to get to the Chicago Theater. It's also in a cool neighborhood.

As far as i know, they don't train dogs for the two things i most like to take with me to Jacket shows. But it's always safest (and probably chronologically smart) to ingest that sort of thing before you get there.
Happy trails!
I figure they'll play the entire waterfall album....will they do the same with circuital? or just play like 8 songs or so?

The Chicago P.D. doesn't hassle pot smokers like they use to, its a fine. They pretty much leave people alone as long as your discrete. C.P.D doesn't like paper work for minor infractions. I know some of them and thats what I've been told. Just don't be a dick
I'm in no way condoning the consumption of the Devils Lettuce by the way, but if you wanna smoke the reefers be my guest.

Didn't you mean Yym Yames Yoga, MusiKel Mama!?
Pattilovesmmj and I wanted to make shirts that say "Gym Games is my Gyro" pronounced Jim James is my Hero (or Jeeroh).
Other ideas include a picture of a boy cat on a blanket on a ship...a tom blanket ship...or making a set of coasters with bows on them. (I know the pronunciations are off/misspelled, but I think they'd be awesome) or like a picture of Bo wearing a Bow on a Koster brand Coaster...?

After many of us have heard the new album and some of us have already experienced it live, anyone else still worried about the no repeats thing? Personally, im actually hoping that a lot of these Waterfall tracks get repeated

We need to get the ball rolling on some meetup places.
I'm also planning on hitting up at least one of your fine Chicago Steakhouses while I'm in town, and would love some recommendations. I've always heard about Gibsons, and was leaning towards that but any tips would be appreciated.

It is not famous, but every carnivore I have brought to this place confirms that it is the best steak they've ever had. The empanadas and chimichurri have made grown men weep. Plus, it is byob.

Chicago Chop House is an awesome place to go off of Ontario. They have so many different cuts and styles to choose from and an awesome old school atmosphere.
Mastro's Steakhouse is really good too. They have good amount of choices as well. Always a good time here.
Not necessarily a "steak house", but if you are looking for just an out of this world experience check out RPM, if you can get in.

Gibsons Steakhouse for the R.W Chicago Bone-In Rib Eye.... No better cut anywhere. It's in the viagra triangle as I call it on Rush st. Best Steakhouse no doubt. Pricey but worth it. Plus you'll see celebs/politicians etc.
Some plans are in the works for a pre-show gathering that might involve a MMJ memorabilia auction for charity. Some Chicago-based folks did this a few years ago and got some participation from management. Stay tuned...

Thanks, I used to be on their board  Thinking about organizing a pre-party for the Wednesday party. Rock Bottom, maybe? They're about a 10 minute walk away, and have an upstairs room that we might be able to use.
There aren't a lot of places close to the theater that have space to meet up with a big group of folks and aren't too stuffy/businessy
I work for Sixpoint Brewery and am on a mission to book a pre-show for the 3 night run. I'll be sure there will be a nice price at wherever is booked. That said, I'm down for suggestions!

Quote from: kpd737 on Mar 17, 2015, 10:58 AM
Download and use Spot Hero when you come into town, in my experience lower prices than advertised in the same garages.
Also play with the times you are booking for, sometimes I book for longer and get a cheaper rate. Just make sure you can get your car out when you need to.
Just read this and am reviving the topic for anyone driving in. When I drove in for Lollapalooza a few years back before I moved here I found parking for 4 nights in a garage for $40 flat, and that's a total. You may have to do a bit of walking/CTA to your hotel, but any savings are good savings when you're budgeting a trip. Listen to the man, SpotHero or any equivalent will usually do you well if you put in a bit a time.

I have just confirmed a pre-show 3 night feature of SIXPOINT BREWERY at Public House! This spot will feature 5 Sixpoint brews (4 taps and 1 can) and will have discount pricing for us MMJ fans! I mentioned the charity idea and we'll sort that out closer to go-time if possible. You can see the iconic Chicago Theatre sign from the bar!

Looking for some more advice from the local Chicago peeps here.
What's the best way to get from O'hare to downtown? My hotel lists cabs, shuttles, and the train with approximate prices for each . The cabs look a bit crazy price wise, and the shuttles aren't that bad,IMO. The train is by far the least expensive but is that really a good option?
Right now I'm leaning towards one of the shuttles but any input would be appreciated.
The train is definitely the way to go. It is right at the airport and is a straight shot to downtown. Takes about a half hour. The Clark/Lake stop is a few blocks from the venue.
Your hotel should have a free shuttle to the airport and then the train is 2.25 a ride (might be 5 now from O'hare) There are kiosks at the train station where you can get a train card and load the funds on it.
As a non-local who has flown into O'hare several times, I concur: the train is definitely the way to go. Yeah, you're on a train (you get what you pay for), but it's easy breezy if you're traveling light. With more luggage, you'd probably want a shuttle.
Thanks guys.
It looked easy but I just wanted to be sure, and not have something quirky involved that would make it a headache. Flying in on show day is more than enough of one for me.

Oh man, no joke. I broke my own rule last Friday flying into Atlanta on the same day as the show in Athens. I made sure it was the earliest morning flight so I had about 10 hours to get to the Georgia Theater from ATL, but I was still nervous.

Yeah man, I did the same thing. Grabbed the first flight out in the AM putting me in Chicago around 8:00. Staying right up the street from the theater so that part won't be bad, it's the dreaded airlines fuck up that I hate. Luckily I have some time built in for that just in case, but definitely don't like flying in the day of the show.
Thanks for this info, guys. Flying in early afternoon on the 9th. Small bit of nerves but putting out positive vibes for on time and on point.
I was trying to ensure my tickets are in order for Chicago and thought I'd share.
My ticket for night 1 came from the Roll Call presale and, according to my dashboard, was shipped via USPS on May 15.
My ticket for night 2 came from the Gilt presale. If you did this, go to Gilt.com, sign in, and print your voucher. That is your ticket. Print your voucher!!!
My ticket for night 3 came from general on sale via Ticketmaster and was mailed to me weeks ago. Who'd have thunk Ticketbastard would be least aggravating?
You know you're dealing with a bunch of incompetents when Ticketbastard is the best of the three!
I've got a good one too. Today my tix for Chicago arrived. Or should I say ticket? I purchased the 3-day tix during the RC presale, and in the envelope today there was only the Wednesday ticket! WTF? seriously, you can't make this shit up.
Even funnier is my packing slip clearly states it's the 3-day ticket. How hard is it to make sure all THREE tix are in the envelope?

Yes, it's the same seat, and I thought the same thing at first but it's definitely just the Wednseday ticket. Single date printed on it, and same for admission price.
I contacted WU, and their response is they will have to look into it further, and get back to me. Anyone want to guess the over/under time for that? Lol!

Well thanks for that but pretty funny they offered that info up to you but haven't bothered to follow up with me. No phone call or email. Just "we'll have to look into it further, and get back to you."
Well it looks like I'm not the only one who didn't get all three tix. They just emailed me this boiler plate response, and I hope they mean me too since I got the Wednesday ticket but not the first like they're saying or the last night.
Why is my first instinct I'll be getting night three but have to go through this again for night1?
Hello,
We wanted to give you a quick update on your order. We know a few of you have received the tickets for your first night, but not the other two. Those tickets are coming in a separate shipment and should be delivered within the next 5 business days. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your order(s) or Roll Call account, please feel free to contact us at help@wonderfulunion.com
Sincerely,
Wonderful Union
I'd drop Wonderful Union an email, Eric, just to be "safe".

Gotta laugh to keep from crying when it comes to these guys.
To me, If they couldnt avoid having to do separate shipments for some reason then the invoice should have said part 1 of 3 (or 2 of 3 if it was a wednesday ticket). Mine says quantity: 2 since i bought two three day passes and that was extremely misleading.
Oh well, still plenty of time for this to get ironed out

Agreed Stevie. Very misleading. Mine says PKG A 1/1 then the sku # followed by 3 Day Reserved Seat with the section, row, and seat # following that.
Should've said 1/3 or 2/3 but definitely not 1/1. That sure makes it seem like this was the only shipment with all tix enclosed.
I'm with you on having time to work this out but in decades of buying concert tix I've never once had tix from the same order shipped separately. Whether is was multiple tix for the same night or single tix for multiple nights. eg,PC.
Very strange indeed.. They sure dont make it easy on themselves.

So I did just that John, stating my concerns about that email not exactly fitting my problem. I received night 2 but not 1 or 3, and really just wanted to let them know what nights I still need. Well I'll bet you can guess the response I got.
Yup, a link to that same exact boiler plate response talking about fans only receiving night 1.
For those unfamiliar with the Chicago train system, it might be worth getting your transit card purchased in advance.
https://www.ventrachicago.com/purchase/ (https://www.ventrachicago.com/purchase/)
Living in Milwaukee, I haven't flown into O'Hare (or Midway) for quite some time, but I do know they had easy peasy kiosks for such purchases. After barely making it to the first Port Chester show, I now tend to buy these things in advance when I can. Just my tuppence.
Well it looks like WU was paying attention. Just got an email response to my email. My nights 1, and 3 tickets will be mailed to me shortly.
I hope everyone else who didn't get all their three night tix will be getting them soon too.

Is the Chicago Theatre cool with non-DSLR cameras in their venue? I'm assuming MMJ is cool with cameras but I know each venue has different rules.
Is anyone looking for tickets? ralph and I are selling a pair in row PP (about 16 rows back) section 3R on the center aisle. We'd be willing to deal on the price a bit. Thanks!

Yes, I did. It said my tix would arrive June 1st. It had a tracking number, and they were being delivered UPS. Kinda weird because they could've used snail mail, and it would've gotten here in five days instead of the eleven it's going to take.
Mine are due in tomorrow. The follow up email i got was from ups w a tracking number
Just booked some accommodations, here's some info that may be helpful for you:
Was just able to book three nights at the Congress Plaza hotel (about 8 blocks from Chicago Theater, across from Grant Park) for $139 per night. Used Priceline's express deals tab. This was the price for one King, if you want 2 double beds it's $127 per night. It was listed as a 2.5 star hotel in the Millennial Loop area for $127.
Was also able to find 72 hours of parking for $18 total with in/out privelages using SpotHero (THANKS!). It's about a mile south of our hotel but we don't anticipate needing to make that walk very often. There were closer options for about 45-60 total if you're not into walking.
Thanks, Stevie!
Hey guys, I have a single GA Pit ticket for Wednesday, June 10th show. My buddy is backing out because the Blackhawks are playing that night. Selling for face value. Please PM me if interested. Thanks

This will be my first MMJ concert (aside from Lolla '11), so I'm not sure which time I should get to the venue to make sure I get a poster. How voracious are MMJ fans when it comes to getting posters? If the show starts at 7:30, would I be okay getting there at 6:45? Thanks for the help!

At the time that i looked the prices were astronomical for downtown. Some very cool places definitely but just not in my price range.

I booked a nice studio not far from DT for bout $150/nite, includes parking & fridge stocked w Beer!
1block from Blue Line.
I believe Big Herm booked airbnb by Lake also.
Anyone coming from the south can also catch the south rail line. http://www.nictd.com/ (http://www.nictd.com/)
Free parking and plentiful at the Hammond station, $5.25 each way and stops at Northwest corner of Grant Park.(Millenium Station). Done it before and very convenient way to get into the city.
I had a great AirBnB booked for all three nights. I had to cancel because I am donating my liver to my mom in 3 weeks, I don't think she would want it after what I had planned for it those 3 nights! I'm still going to all 3... just drinking water....! A little bummed.. I had big plans for my sons first MMJ shows, but it beats the alternative!

Rollin' Back opener -->Friends Again ---> Ready to be called upon --> Big Decisions
(Had to mix in big decisions as they do flow well together and think new material should be sprinkled in)
i'm still trying to trick them into playing at dawn straight through so they're obligated to play just because i do.

What I think is that we take out he Waterfall tracks on nights 2 and 3, substitute B-Sides and EP material, then take out Circuital on night 3, plug in the waterfall, and sprinkle on some more B Sides and EP stuff and call it a day.

The brews go on tap at 5pm on Tuesday and will be pouring at those prices continuiously through Thursday night at closing time (2am). On Thursday from 5pm-7pm I'll be pouring off complimentary tastes for all comers.
There is not a designated space for MMJ people per se, but I am going to work with the people there to save some space as business so allows.
I have an extra pair of tickets for the 3 nights, please contact me ASAP if interested.

Hiss Golden Messenger is primarily the vehicle for one MC Taylor - whom if you really go down the rabbit hole with as i did, also fronted a great band called Court & Spark back in the late 90's/early 00's. i think William Tyler joins the touring band every now and then but i don't think he was ever officially part of the band.
BTW, NYCtaper has just put up another quality HGM show.
I downloaded three HGM albums (Lateness of Dancers, Bad Debt, Poor Moon) before entering the garden this morning to do some serious work. I really enjoyed them and am partial to Poor Moon for whatever reasons.
Anyway, I think this is going to be a great pairing. I don't know how much this exists in practice but i have in my head that Jim and the guys could be very much influenced by the simple folk sound, emotion and spirit of HGM in a way that results in them pulling out some of their older, more rare numbers that conjure up the same kind of energy (If All Else Fails, Just Because I Do, Come Closer, etc..)
Likewise, and perhaps more likely, maybe HGM will feel inclined to get a little reckless with the instruments and play a little louder for a crowd that is used to a certain level of intensity.
Or i could be way off base and each group will stick to their guns. Either way, I think we can all see the "Wonderful" collaboration coming from a mile away and in no way do i think that takes away from what should be a very beautiful moment.

HOLY FUCK!!!!!! HOLY FUCK!!!!! HOLY FUCK!!!!!
Tonight begins my (and possibly many fellow MMJ fans) music wet dream. Seeing our pals 3 nights in a row in Chicago and at my favorite venue is blowing my mind.
One of the highlights for me is attending night 2 with my sister who has never seen MMJ, nor is she very familiar with the music. The highlight is due to the fact that I nearly ruined our relationship due to my past actions, but over the past couple of years it has been on the mend.
Okay, so I decided that I couldn't deal with being in the balcony for this show (my tickets for nights 2 and 3 are decent spots on the floor) and I ended up buying a pit ticket off StubHub.
How many of us nerds are going to be lined up and waiting with our laminates for early entry tonight?

I'm right there with you man!!!! I live in Madison, WI so I've had this circled since the second the schedule came out. All 3 nights without a doubt. Favorite venue aside from Red Rocks and actually the very first venue I saw them play back in 2008 with my best friend (oh my god.... 7 years already???). 30+ shows later and I finally get to make that pilgrimage back to where it all started for me.
You just know that these setlists are going to be amazing. There's great food and great beer all over town and about a billion things to do while waiting for the next show to happen. You've got the Stanley Cup buzz going strong, they're throwing out first pitches at Sox games. I don't even know what else to say other than I want this next three days to feel like a year or even more.. Like Jim has said in countless interviews about looking at a waterfall and wanting to be able to stop it so that he can take a nap behind it.... I don't want to completely stop this week but slow it wayyyy down and just sit there taking it all in nanosecond by nanosecond.
Oh and musacsnob, that's wonderful to hear that about your sister. I hope you both have a great time and that everything continues to go well for you both.
Sorry to spam the board with this crap, but I have one extra tonight in section MNFL2, row Q. If anyone's interested, I'm selling for well below face value. Feel free to shoot me a message.
Thanks & hope you visitors enjoy Chicago.

Is there a Roll Call early entry? I didn't see anything, and I completely forget to bring that laminate with me to work (I work downtown, so was just going to stroll over once I'm done). Would be a bummer if I have to enter the pit "late"...
Man I hope these get the Live Downloads treatment. Although I remember on the Reddit Q&A there were offhand mentions to another potential proper live album/DVD, so if there's plans for that this year, I could see them wanting to hold back any bootlegs from The Waterfall tour.

Overall, awesome show, if not a bit mellow by Jacket standards. Awesome to hear a lot of the old stuff and it sure looks like they're going to go for no repeats over the three nights.
Highlights: Masterplan, singalong during Golden and Off the Record being the song that finally made people in the balcony stand up.

840-1105 yep
Do you still need a ticket? Maybe I can leave my extra at will call and we can settle up inside? Let me know. It's 4th row Carl's side.
Wow!!!! Wow!!!! Wow!!!!
What a show last night. When they played The Dark I knew we were in for quite a treat. Our pals served up quite the treat all night long. The highlights for me included the already mentioned The Dark, Master Plan (the extended jam reaffirmed my unconditional love for the band), Outta My System, Off the Record (the energy from the crowd seemed to peak), and Run Thru.
The lighting rig for this tour......WTF???? I felt like I was tripping during Off the Record without consuming any drugs or alcohol the entire night.
Enjoy night 2 y'all.
Quote from: dlweiss2 on Jun 10, 2015, 09:59 AM
Off the Record being the song that finally made people in the balcony stand up.
I think this is a pretty good indicator of the overall energy for most of the show. The first two thirds were so slow and low-key, and we were getting bored up there. If they had played Off the Record, I'm Amazed or Run Thru earlier in the set, we would have been standing up much sooner.
All,
So where and when is the silent auction tonight? I had heard Monk's, but haven't seen much posted in it since.
Ok have to share this story. I'm not at these shows but have a good buddy who is. He also went to Governor's Ball and talked to Patrick and Jim at the autograph session there. According to him here's how the exchange went down:
Friend: Patrick please don't give us a half ass Run Thru in Chicago.
Patrick: Half-ass?
Friend: You know what I mean, half a song.
Patrick: Talk to this guy (motioning to Jim)
Jim: Don't worry I'll take care of you.
Solast night I get a call back in NY where I'm sleeping at like 12:30 and my buddy is like, "Guess what we got to end the show?" I knew it was a full Run Thru. My friend also said he got a setlist and it had Phone listed after Run Thru. He swears the conversation impacted the set. Don't know if anyone can confirm the setlist thing.

Weak!
Hahahaha, i cant believe anyone would be disappointed by the earlier part of the setlist. I was so happy with it i just kept saying to Megan, "Im so happy right now!!"
To me the first half of the setlist was an indication that they know they have a large contingent of die hard fans and i think sitting downor standing up it was still amazing. I mean you got the high energy going later on and they blew the roof off so mission accomplished.
That was the best show ive seen since red rocks 2012 and ive been to all the big ones outsjde of the wiltern run.
To top it off, a guy on a bicycle pedaled us back to the hotel room while blasting the waterfall through his rigged up speakers, he had the album playing when we walked out of the theater already so naturally that was our only option..
What a night, cant believe we get two more. Gonna get weird tonight i bet ;)

sneaky good point for Nights 2/3: they already played I'm Amazed, First Light, & Outta My System.
They almost played "First light" TWICE :)
They beginning of X-Mas curtain was an "oops we just played first light"
But, HOLY SHIT, was that a good show!!!
Is there a place to get live setlist updates?

Glad to have that info bout the 3 min"Stir it up". For a set with perfect flow it seemed short and kinda forced.
Aside from that, THAT was a perfect Tues (1st night of a 3 night run) show. Great setlist, perfect, effortless, mellowish(in a really good way). Just a fuggin GREAT SHOW!
Can't wait to see what happens next 2 nights :) AND can't wait to see the "complete" poster!?
I'm imagining a Burwell meets Picasso meets the TV show "The Electric Co.", for a big 70's Chicago GUERNICA

The setlist is on this thread. Just go back a page or two. And some forum members are nice enough to post updates as the show is happening. I think everyone was "IN IT" last night. I could barely type the setlist myself, let alone post :)
FUGGIN GREAT SHOW!!!

The first thing that popped into my head was Dave Mustaine singing country- but as far as openers, no complaints.
Hey Guys,
I have two extra tix for tonight. June 10th for face. One is main floor 3L row J on the isle. The other is row CC (that's a sweet sweet seat).
PM Me if you're interested.
Anybody on the forum wanna chill/sit down tonight?
I have Box 3 row A seats 23,25
Private 2 person box on the side of, the front of balcony.
Super chill, great view of stage, great sound, waitress, etc.
I'm from Chicago, and this is where I usually sit if I wanna relax, rest my back, chill & watch
PM me if interested.
Anyone looking to swap mezzanine seats for seats on the floor for tomorrow night's show? We have two 7th row seats in 3R that we want to swap for mezzanine seats.
We used our floor seats last night and the have a great view. Just getting too old to stand for 3 hours.
Found out lost a friend/fellow MMJ fan earlier today. Hearing people are tweeting at the band to play the song "I will be there when you die" in his honor.
Hadn't seen him in over a year. He was able to attend OBH this year so i was happy for him. 41 is young to have brain cancer.
Still have those 2 person private box seats...
Sounds like an amazing night one. Wish I was there.
Interesting that TWTHS was played in the encore. It usually comes much earlier.
Have fun the rest of the way!

I loved tonight's show. I liked it more than last night's. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings for us.
The woman next to me got Jim's setlist. (I got one of his towels.)
Last night's show was great from a rarity's standpoint but tonight's felt like it had better pacing to it.
Highlights were the full version of Cobra, extended Dondante jam and not on the setlist but Hillside Song was great.
I anticipate this might be the first MMJ show to have a "Let's go Hawks" chant break out during the middle of it.
Lot of heavy hitters left for tomorrow yet (Mahgeetah, OBH, Gideon, Steam Engine, At Dawn, Lay Low, Touch Me Pt.2) and excited to hear "Tropics" for the first time.
First set great song selection, no extended jams. Second set extended face melting! ALL JAMS!!! Excellent balance. Hope MMJ had as much fun as I did.
Love the no repeats, Jim's guitar jam in the middle of "Dondante" was epic, great hearing a full "Cobra", still love "Evil Urges" and don't think it gets played enough, nice to see "I'll Be There When You Die" played and "Compound Fracture" is fantastic live!
Lot's of great one's left and man I cannot wait to hear "Tropics" and "In Its Infancy.." tomorrow night!
"Picture of You" would be one of the songs I'm crossing my fingers for.
CHIMMJFAN
When you say a "full cobra" - you mean like the whole 20+ minute album version? If I could get that at Red Rocks or LA my life would be complete.
So was it two sets like shown on the previous page, or more traditional main set + encore shown on the set on this page?
"Standards" left for night 3:
In its infancy
Get the point
Thin line
Tropics
Victory Dance
Black Metal
Touch me pt 2
Lay low
What a wonderful man
Gideon
Mahgeetah
One big holiday
Steam engine
Leaves plenty of space for rarities!

2 sets
10 min break at 9:40.
Ended 1st set with Easy morning rebel
Started 2nd set (10-15 later) with
Dancefloors
Please & thank you for a 'lil break before that...maybe just shy of 30 min DONDONTE
Again, Thank you for the aforementioned DONDONTE!

How early have people been getting there to get a poster? I got there last night at 8:20 and it looked they were gone already.
Would love to see Tyrone, Evelyn, The Bear tonight
For night 3 I am feeling a little (O is the One / Oxen / Picture of you) triple combo tonight.
Cover song - "Man in Me" - Bob Dylan
Let's give a big round of applause to ALady and Taterbug for setting up the first Waterfall Project event. I got to the theater around 6:35 on Tuesday and there was no one there, so I snagged a poster right away. Things looked pretty slow up until around 7:30, so I'd say get there any time between doors open and the opener and you should be okay.

Thank you both for coming - so glad you could make it! Honestly, whatever time we put into it was repaid in spades just seeing everyone catching up, making new friends and having a good time. The fact that we were able to translate that into cash money for some very deserving organizations...that's the cherry on top!
We may be bringing this back for the San Francisco run...stay tuned!
Got here before the opener, and the posters were already out. Anyone have an extra for night 2 or 3, by chance? Or will the artist be selling it through their website at some point. Thanks
The poster situation is easily the only complaint I could have. Got one the first night but not the next two. As early as I arrived, and as empty as the venue was at the time, I would have expected to score one both nights. Supplies must be super limited!

Just realized they're in central time.
I think the encore was:
Bermuda Highway
At Dawn
Victory Dance
Honest Man
Gideon
OBH
Okay, after being spoiled with front and center of the pit for the past two nights, I was in DD tonight. When they opened with "Mageetah", I almost started crying because I was so sad I wasn't in the front again.
And then during "Strangulation", I actually did start crying because that song is fantastic. :embarrassed:
Anyway...
I have to say, after finally meeting some people in Louisville in April and then again here these past three nights, I'm really impressed with you MMJ fans. The concert etiquette is EN POINTE! Damn, we could teach Chicago crowds a lesson or five million.
Can't wait to see people again at another show...

Dude! John, thanks for capturing that moment!
These sets are better than OBH. Cannot wait for Columbus.
Wow....I have never been to a show quite like that before. It was better than seeing them the very first time! I think that has something to do with finally having a great spot right on the edge of the stage directly in front of Jim. I met some great folks at the show too. I'm now trying to come to terms with being back at work today.... Anybody have a recording from last night so I can treat my co-workers to that greatness?
That may be the best encore set ever!!! I'm glad I was able to attend the first two nights, but the night 3 encore looks unbelievable.
This is one of the better set lists I have seen. Good god.
Pretty crazy there were no repeats over the last 3 nights. Hope it's the same in Detroit.
Still hasn't quite sunk in, what I witnessed both Tuesday and Thursday. Being in the pit, literally right in front of Jim both of those nights, watching the guys perform at the highest level I have seen, getting all three of my spontaneous curation requests (The Dark, Strangulation, Honest Man), crossing O is the One off my bucket list, even Jim touching my finger during Victory Dance last night haha....everything was just awesome. Met some cool people as well, and we all rocked out hard. I'm sore, my ears are ringing and I could use some more sleep, but I don't care. Of all the MMJ shows I've been to, these were special.
I'm happy for all you Chicago peeps that got three great nights. On paper that third night looks to be off the charts awesome.

If they didn't repeat any of the tracks off the new album on a 3 nighter, i'd pretty much guarantee that they won't have repeats on any multi night runs from here on out...too much of a catalog.

So after the dust has settled, hearing such a diverse catalog were there any songs that ended up like duds? Songs that fell flat we might not be hearing again on the tour? I'm not trying to force anyone into blaspheming just an Honest Man with an honest question y'all!?
someone mentioned earlier in this thread that Ryan, the band's sound man, stated that one of the first two Chicago shows was going to be broadcast on wxrt tonight? anyone hear anything further on this? i don't see anything on the station's website....would love to try to record it, if it's happening.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well most of the Waterfall songs have worked in a live setting. Black Metal will always be a dud for me, but it seems to get quite the reaction from the rest of the house anytime it's played.
I was thrilled to hear Carried Away again.

Wonderful man is short but intense, glad we got that one too.
These past three nights have left an unshakeable smile on my face!
Night 3 when Jim decides to restart "Honest Man" I loved watching Tom cracking up at Jim as he came over to him and was playing guitar. I love observing each guy's interactions on stage.
"Carried Away" is always so good and love that Carl gets the time to do that. The lights during "In It's Infancy" were definitely cool. I'm really hoping "Down on the Bottom" keeps getting played, I think they can really extend that one out even more near the end.
Could really feel the love that MMJ has for Chicago and how appreciative they were for all those that came out for as many shows as they could.
Looking forward to seeing them in Milwaukee next weekend and later in the summer at Red Rocks!

Found this Lay Low from the pit last night. I see a few familiar heads/faces groovin' in there, too.

someone mentioned earlier in this thread that Ryan, the band's sound man, stated that one of the first two Chicago shows was going to be broadcast on wxrt tonight? anyone hear anything further on this? i don't see anything on the station's website....would love to try to record it, if it's happening.
I was the guy who asked Ryan P. if they were planning on making the shows from Chicago "Official Bootlegs" or not, and he said he didn't know. Then he told me XRT was supposed to play one of the first two nights on the radio on Friday night. Well, we just got back home a couple of hours ago, and i decided to see if XRT broadcasts over the Interewb (they do) and to see if the show was already on or if it would be on later tonight. It wasn't on, and I am impatient. I decided to call them up. I found their studio number on the Interweb and called. The DJ answered and affirmed that they do plan on airing one of the shows, but that it would be on tomorrow night (Saturday) at 10:00 Central Time. I asked him again and repeated this information back to him, and he said tomorrow night at 10:00. He said he didn't know which night though. So...all you tapers who can capture stuff off the Interweb, get ready!
Mr. White comes through AGAIN!!!! So stoked about this! Thank you!!!
I'm planning on recording the Bonnaroo livestream, so I'll do my best to record the XRT broadcast as well. Hopefully they don't overlap, but if they do I'll just fire up my wife's computer and hope my crappy Uverse connection can handle the bandwidth.
Thanks sweatshirt, good luck

Some of you know I was in dire straits last fall, when heart surgery went south and I almost died, repeatedly. After 10 days on life support, two months in ICU, 204 units of blood, and additional surgery, I survived the ordeal.
My brother told the band about my plight and they were great. Carl called me at the hospital and they sent me a get well card package.
Then the last night in Chicago happened. My first time making it through a full show on my feet. Better yet, on the rail, Carl side. It was epic. At the end of the show, One Big Holiday, the band came out for a bow and Patrick then came over to ask me how I was doing. Melted my heart after melting my face.

Nice to finally get to meet you briefly John
John this brought tears to my eyes this morning. I had no idea just how dire the situation was, nor that this was your first Jacket show back. Makes this little video all the more holy. So truly grateful you made it through and are thriving, pal...super stoked to see and your little lady in milwaukee
Awesome moment. Happy for you John.

The poster situation is easily the only complaint I could have. Got one the first night but not the next two. As early as I arrived, and as empty as the venue was at the time, I would have expected to score one both nights. Supplies must be super limited!
On night three I walked in at 6:40 (Doors at 6:30) and I got poster 149/150. These posters went really fast. I really like how they flow from one poster to the next, but I don't really love them. They are all basically the same with just a different color. Would've loved something like how the Port Chester shows went.

Actually, I made it to OBH in Mexico just 8 weeks after leaving the hospital, with blessings from my medical team. The band arranged for me to sit on a stool near Ryan Pickett at the soundboard; otherwise, I'd probably not be able to attend the music. Chicago was my first time in a pit, on my feet for a full show, since Jim solo in Portland, ME in 2013.
Lookin' forward to Waverly and Milwaukee this weekend!!!
That was such a lovely moment in a week full of lovely moments. Glad to have you back rockin' with us, Yac

In a week filled with great shows, people, and so many fun moments, and highlights, this might have been the highlight of highlights. A very cool moment for sure. One I'm so glad to have been next to you for, and one I'm sure I'll never forget. I caught Patrick pointing to you during the show, and no doubt he was glad to see you. Such a warm, genuine, heartfelt embrace, and words to match from him. Very cool moment indeed my friend, and so happy for you. To have it captured on video is the cherry on top.

No, my last name is not Hope. Her response kind of threw me off a bit at first too. I guess she was just "hoping" I was having an "awesome" day or am doing "awesome" in general. In any case, I hope THEY (WXRT) ARE AWESOME and do actually broadcast this show on Sunday from 7:30 to 9:30. The only thing that sort of concerns me is that the shows lasted more than 2 hours. Will there be edits, will some songs get cut, or will they go past 9:30 to fit in the entire show? We shall see...
I've got Sunday at 7:30 set in my calendar to record. Hope WXRT pulls through this time and actually broadcasts it.
I REALLY hope its Night 2 because that I Think I'm Going to Hell is GTFOH-good.

Johnny Yac,
It was so nice to see you again at Chicago. I'm so glad you are doing well and so happy for you that you had a unique and heartfelt experience with the band. They really do care and you do so much for them and their fans, it's right that they should be appreciative. I wish you health and a long lifetime of MMJ shows!

Sorry for your shitty experience during night 2. Been there many times. If a polite request to quiet down doesn't work, get security.

Alright...just so everybody doesn't think I'm totally full of it or just crazy, I'm going to copy and paste my e-mail and the response I received from Kelly (Music Director) over at WXRT this morning.
"Hello Kelly,
My name is John, and I was told by My Morning Jacket's sound engineer,
Ryan Pickett, that he was delivering either night 1 (June 9th) or night 2 (June
10th) to you guys to be aired on that Friday (June 12th). We were up in Chicago
for all three nights and would absolutely love to hear a quality copy of one of
those first two nights. When we got back home, I called up the studio at XRT,
and they said it wouldn't be on until Saturday (June 13th). Saturday came and
went, and as far as I know, the show hasn't been broadcast. I've been trying to
contact somebody there at XRT to find out when (and if) it will be aired.
Please, please respond to this e-mail. All the people on their official fan
Forum are waiting...
Thanks,
John H."
This is the reply I got from Kelly Ransford of cbsradio.com at 11:38 AM.
"Hi! We are airing it this Sunday 7:30 - 9:30. Thanks for getting the word out.
Hope you're awesome!"
Hopefully this is true...this time, and we will finally get to hear the show in soundboard quality. If not...then maybe I am crazy...
Mr. White, beautiful work. Thanks so much!!!!
Johnny, thank you for relaying your story. I have a very similar one and was on the rail on Jim's side at Chicago 3 (was there all 3 nights). I was almost back on my feet for OBH after a major medical issue from throwing blood clots from a broken leg and nearly dying but came down with pneumonia on the way to Mexico. If it wasn't for having a hammock on the balcony (people probably thought I was crazy) I would have completely missed those awesome shows with 103-104 degree fever every day. As it were, I got off the plane home from OBH and ended up going straight from the airport to the ER where I was admitted for a week total getting fluids and IV antibiotics. Anyway, long story short, it was so great to have Chicago and those awesome shows- particularly Night 3- I had to lean back several times so Jim had room to solo (that's close)!! Reading your story, it feels like we were holding down both sides of the stage to keep the band from launching into the stratosphere never to be seen again ;-) So glad to be alive and experience that!!!

I'm pretty sure that was us. Me and my girlfriend had a couple to the left of us from NY and honestly didn't really notice the folks to our right. If that was you sorry I'm normally friendlier but it was my first time in the pit and on the rail for any show so I was pretty mezmerized!
Also got an email from WXRT today.(http://s2.postimg.org/480lmkx89/image.jpg)
Please somebody with the capabilities beyond my own record this show.
I also posted this in the Poster thread.
This may induce some serious cringes from the faithful poster-heads, but I opted for the cheapo approach to "framing" the 3 Burwells. I thought a borderless look might work, as they go together to form a single image. I picked up 3 stock 18 x 24 "clip" frames and the result is below. I forgot Guy uses paper that is just short of the stock 18 x 24 sizing, so there is a little edge on the left of night one, both sides of night 2, and the right side of night 3. I'll hang them close, but not touching, which I think makes it easier to look at, IMHO. Total cost, shipped... $60.
Looks great man! I still think I'm going to do the frame and matting and see how it turns out. Let us know when you get these suckers hung!
No cringes from me John. That looks pretty good to my eyes.
I think when I do mine I'm going to start out with black, and white matting, single framed.Unless of course I find pink, green, and blue mattes that match perfectly, then all bets are off! If I can't find all three colors then it's black/white for all. If I don't like it, and decide to go one big frame, the single black/ white won't go to waste as I have a few posters that those colors would work with.
God, I'm not really as confused as that sounds but I've finally come up with a game plan.
I'll post some pics when they're done but it's probably going to be a little while yet.
Anyone happen to have more info on whether or not these prints will be made available by the artist? His site has had the same message since 6/11. Waiting patiently. Just curious, I have 2/3 of these and am patiently waiting to complete the set!
On sale now: just got the 3 pack!

most have sold out, but night 2 is still on sale
Wow! thank you JRob. Night 2 was the one I needed. Are these legit prints? Seemed a little shady to be not directly from artist.

how much was the 3 pack if you dont mind? i missed the boat on the sale. just curious.
Yeah, the link came from an email from the artist. The 3 pack was a little steep, $175 + $25 shipping. Since I didn't grab any of the prints while I was there I decided to go for it!
Who do we have to petition to to get the live downloads treatment for these 3 shows?

Agreed, I know its been said before, but...These guys gota get someone to step up and sell these more real time. Aside from the band missing out on a great revenue stream, were missing out on great shows.....

Agreed, Pearl Jam has been doing it successfully since their 2000 tour. Although my bank account is better off with MMJ not releasing every show...
Unfortunately, releasing shows is more expensive and time consuming than you might think and MMJ has nowhere even close to Pearl Jams budget. On the plus side, the band has recorded nearly every show they've ever played, so almost everything has the potential for proper mix down and release.
I'm not necessarily in the "release every show" camp. I can't afford that! But I feel like 3 night stands like this in particular would sell really well with this fan base. So many deep cuts!
that double guitar'd version of Lay Low is just so fucking heavy coming through my headphones....whoever recorded the 11th is a fucking amazing taper!

June 11th was the "Unofficial-Official Bootleg" that Ryan Pickett provided straight from the soundboard to WXRT. That's why it's so good. The fan/taper recording was from June 10th. So far, no recording of Night 1 (June 9th) has shown up.
oh ok I see!!! god i wish theyd release all three shows on livedownloads.com...they'd get OUR money  god everything is so crisp and beautiful. and I love the aud taper from the 10th too!!
