Title: Sound Check Question
Post by: CitizenCass on Mar 23, 2015, 10:58 AM
New Roll Call member!  Purchased  2 tickets for Merriweather Post Pavilion 7/26.

It is my understanding that with Roll Call you may get to watch the sound check.  True?  How does this work?  Also, will the person attending with me be allowed to view, or will he need to purchase an RC membership as well?

Excited to see them again!  Red Rocks 2012 is by far my favorite concert of any performer.  Excited to see them outdo that show!

The Sound Check VIP passes option is a separate purchase, and only available to be purchased by Roll Callers. I'm not sure of the amount you can buy but I have bought two SC passes in the past to take the person going to the show with me to the SC also. Your +1 does not need to be a Roll Call member, and neither does the rest of your party if your allowed to buy more than 2 passes. I'm thinking it's a 4 ticket limit like the acutual show ticket but not 100% sure on that.

It was usually around $40 per and included that night's show poster. Considering the posters are $30 most of the time, the SC package for me was a bargain. If they're doing them again this tour they'll announce at a later date, and they'll be available for purchase the same way RC presale tix were.

We never  got an actual ticket for the SC's but instead were emailed a couple of days before the show the details of where to go, and when. Our names were on a master list, and when we checked in they gave us a wristband or sticky decal type of thing, waited on line to be let in, watched the soundchecks (usually 15-20 minutes) and then got the posters on the way out.

Yes,you have to leave after the Soundcheck, and depending on when the SC starts, and people start lining up for early entry to GA shows it might cost you a few spots on that line. Some shows it might help as you might be able to line up as soon as it's over. Each show is different as far as the early entry line starting. Depends on the people going to that show, and the venue allowing people to line up at a certain time or whenever they want.

they offered soundcheck "parties" as a separate purchase for 2012 tour and they were generally very enjoyable - show up around 4, line up, walk in together and sit in first 2 rows - usually about 3 songs with some Jim banter.  Once done, folks walked out and got a free poster

They have not announced these for 2015 tour yet, so not sure if they'll be offering them

They haven't done this since summer 2012, so I wouldn't count on it.

They haven't toured since then, so no opportunity to offer MMJ tour extras... this tour/release seems loaded with all the bells and whistles so I wouldn't be surprised if soundcheck parties were part of the plan. Wishful thinking maybe
