Title: Why are there so many Chicago Tickets?!?!?
Post by: Rocket Surgeon on Jun 05, 2015, 04:48 AM
I don't understand at all!  My fiance got shut out in the pre sale, got shut out in the public onsale, sold out on ticketmaster.  So why are there literally hundreds of tickets on stubhub, the forum, craigslist now?

What is going on with these shows?  A 3 night run in the Chicago Theater should be amazing!  Where is everyone?!

Well I could imagine for night two it's cause of the Blackhawks.

However, Chicago has always had a horrible scalpers market. And it's really not surprising to me to see a show basically being sold on the secondary market like this

Yep, Chicago is by far the worst scalpers market that I can think of.  I hope all of these empty seats get filled.

10% empty, while not desirable, isn't bad.  A bit surprising, as Chicago has been pretty MMJ-rabid in the past, though.  I don't know that I've been to the Chicago Theatre since the Monsters of Folk tour.  I wonder if we'll have the ability to fill in the empties within the sections defined by our tickets.

Everyone thinks they can be a scalper these days with so many outlets to sell. I rarely buy tickets for anything until an hour before the show on the stub hub app. always seems to work.

I think lots of people got tickets through the presales and have since upgraded and are selling the originals

And those of us who want to upgrade can't without getting stuck with unused extras.

I have tickets for Tuesday and Thursday.  Didn't buy Wednesday because already had tickets to see Dawes/Hozier at Pritzker Pavillion.  However since it is only about 5 blocks from the Chicago Theater I have been real close to picking up a pair and leaving the Hozier set a little early.  If the Hawks lose either Saturday or Monday I don't think I will be able to hold myself back any longer.

Upgraded and selling originals which are rediculous, it's a big scam Btwn ticketmaster and stub hub the fact that on any show right now on ticketmaster u will pull up two in something with double letters ticketmaster is a joke , how could all these sections still be available when they weren't at all when they went on sale or the past few weeks just now. It's a joke

TM has been getting shadier and shadier with type of stuff.  They essentially sell the shitty seats off first, the better ones later.  Total scam.

The whole presale  thing is a scam. I also bought two sets for June 10 BACK IN MARCH sec 1L and 2L and seats on ticketmaster available now are SECTION 4. Lesson learned I guess.
Selling my 1L tix, 50% off.

Is it this way with other venues and MMJ presales around the country?  This Chicago Theatre situation seems exceptionally shady.

i think it was nailed on the head when it was stated that Chicago has the worst scalper situation ever.

Im kind of surprised the bands dont have a say in the way tickets are distributed. They ARE the product being sold, and the most loyal fans are getting manipulated by TM to buy tickets during presales that are actually far worse seats than those sold to the general public at a later date as demonstrated here.

And those of us who want to upgrade can't without getting stuck with unused extras.

Just an FYI I was able to upgrade my tickets today by calling TM and exchanging my tickets for better ones. I was even able to exchange a set of pre-sale seats. Worth a phone call - All I had to pay was the difference in price and ended up with killer seats for tomorrow and Wednesday (no exch. available for Thursday b/c we have a group of 4). Have a great time this week!

I upgraded as well. Took me over an hour of calling the fan line, but did get some good seats. Went from 1L-N to 4R-DD. They even had pit tickets last night but were gone this am.

Ticket exchange request DENIED. Apparently 3-day pass holders are SOL.

I don't know that I've been to the Chicago Theatre since the Monsters of Folk tour.

Monster of Folk have never played Chicago Theatre, they played Auditorium Theatre

Blackhawks.

I look forward to the sweet, sweet day that my ears aren't violated by Chelsea Dagger every 12 seconds. Chicago (and especially the suburbs) is insufferable during Hawks playoff runs.

Upgraded via phone with TM and ended up with row AA for Wed/Thurs and no extras to unload.  Amazing.

Meanwhile, i was online the very second they went on sale through the fan club and shelled out the cash for two three night ticket packs without hesitation and Im for some reason not eligible to be upgraded.  Happy for you guys but this definitely pisses me off.  My seats arent bad but they definitely arent what they have been handing out lately.

Lesson learned, never buy chi tix until the week of the show.

I JUST DONT GET IT, there were 1200 tickets on stubhub last night for the 3 shows.
And selling for under $20 for floor seats. Did MMJ overreach with 3 nights? With 9000+ tickets available, I would have thought a sell out was possible, but apparently not.

Well, i think that the shows being during the week has something to do with that as well as the stanleycup tonight (i think).
