Great news on this Monday morning.

I'm really, really hoping to make it to one or both of these shows!
I've only been to the Orpheum once and our seats were under the balcony, which was far from ideal. Does anyone know what the last row of seats are that aren't under the balcony?
Yeah, would be good to know if this is a GA or Reserved Seating event before jumping through the Roll Call Pre-Sale hoops.
Thinking about making the trek up from PA - how's the venue? Is there a pit or is it all seats?
any guess on capacity?
I'll answer all questions since i've been to the Orpheum endless times.
It's a cool venue, very old and run down. Assigned seating only, seating is very tight since the venue is so old.
Capacity is about 1200-1500 if i were to guess and the balcony overhangs at row M.
I'd say if you were choosing between beacon and orpheum to go Beacon, better venue all around.
Now hoping somebody can answer roll call questions for me. Considering signing up for a deluxe package. How good are the seats usually and how hard are they to get?
I'm a bit hesitant since a membership will cost like $65 and come with a shirt size that won't even fit me (xs/s/xxl only sizes left)
Capacity is at 2,700 according to Wikipedia.
jbpats - If you don't already have Roll Call I probably wouldn't bother signing up just for this presale. It seems there hasn't been a lot of tickets available for Roll Call presales for the this tour (smaller venues). If you get shut out then it's just a waste of $ if you don't care about the merch that comes with it.

Appreciate you giving me a heads up. 2700 seems very high to me, there is also a seatibg chart on their website that counts out to about 1500 seats.
Just a tip avoid left or right orchestra at all costs, you might think you're close but the seats will be extremely obstructed. Only buy lc/rc down low or center/lc/rc for mid orchestra.
So, is there a chance that the TM tix will be better than roll call? Or is there such a small number that people generally get shut out?

Yeah definitely some the general sale will be better than Roll Call. RC gets some really good seats and some not so great (although most are better than avg). I'm not really sure what the breakdown is for seat location in terms of numbers is for each sale though.
Orpheum withholds a ton of tickets and does random drops between when tix go onsale to the show. The initial onsale is crap 10 times out of 10.
One of the reasons i was considering signing up for the roll call

Agreed on not buying if this is your only reason. Even if you don't get shut out, there is a very good chance you will get better seats during the regular sale anyway.
But if some of the merch is appealing and you're interested in the soundcheck option, then the cost is worth it. Plus you'll get a shot at Roll Call which could be surprisingly good since it's an all seated venue.
Definitely gonna go unless my retail job tells me otherwise
My wife and I are looking to make the Orpheum shows. Just signed up for the digital plan to try our luck in getting multi-night tix (figured it was only 15bones anyway).
Question for a roll call novice. Where is the link for the pre-sale located when it goes down tomorrow during digi-only roll call presale? Will it be in the show news link? On the tour page? Or in the roll call early entry (uncertain this show will have early entry)? Or somewhere else?
Haven't used roll call since its 1st year and thought it was a bust so never renewed.
Any advice would help as we will be doing this at work from our phone which is less than ideal but the only option

The shows are up on the tour page now, and the tickets link will be live when the presale starts. I'm not sure how long the digital RC members have to wait till they can buy but that's where you'll want to go.

Gonna try for both days in Boston and NYC. Good luck with presales everyone!
Another quick question about the roll call process. It says that you willhave to login to your roll call account before choosing the show. Where is it we log in to roll call? I cannot find where to sign in on the website

there's a login button under the roll call menu
or just go here http://mymorningjacket.com/auth/login
Thanks CC may have already been logged in when I was searching for it
I'm going to try for Boston. Can't really do NY. Too close to thanksgiving.
Appears these will be high demand shows if we can base it off the fact deluxe roll call packages sold out

its a shame.. i fear that is the scalpers with 24 hours notice that they can spend 40 dollars and have access to 4 tickets in the first few rows for the beacon shows. theyre quick and have the skills to get in there fast. they learn of shows at the beacon and will buy all these seats shutting fans out and creating a fake demand, just because its new york city. most other shows sell at a loss(look at the last chicago run) on the secondary market, but these guys are gonna try and ramp these tix up for beacon since its new york city. i wish you had to be registered before the announcement to particiapte in these things.
i hope im wrong..
NY is the type of city where shows will always have a huge demand just because of its size.
I'm a member of a fan club where you don't know your seat location until you pick up your tickets day of the show.
Tickets can also only be transferred to other fan club members.. I think more fan clubs should follow that methodology. It almost completely eliminates scalping
What does p1 and p2 mean?
2 tickets for row HH!
So, I didn't read the directions ahead of time and had no idea there were 2 day passes. I was confused and got single day tix to the Saturday show... row MM. Not too shabby.
For those who bought 2 day passes, do they tell you what seats you got??

I tried for 2 day and they sold out immediately.
I ended up with LL for Night 1. For Night 2 I have some in my cart in the second middle section, a few rows back. I can't decide if I should grab em or hold out for better seats.
Do the non deluxe roll call people just get the scraps, or are more seats released at 10:30?
No idea Jbpats. I'm going to try again at 1030 for night 1 tickets.
anybody pull mezzanine seats?

I screwed up and didn't end up getting Night 2 tickets. Hopefully I don't get boned during the public sale.
Ok. So i pulled a ticket in row LL for night 1 when I wasn't really trying. I cancelled it, or so I thought. Then i pulled HH. Went to checkout. The old LL was still in there, and when I tried to remove it, it removed both :undecided:
Man, i got nada w/digital! Was looking forward to my first 2 shows!
Hopefully Friday brings better luck!! Totally bummed out!!!
I can't get any groups of 2 for either Boston show? This seems like a total bust, or is it always like this? Pretty bummed.

I thought I got up close, but ended up with orchestra row B, not BB..damn it.
I just got a single in orch ff, seat 113 for night 2. Is that 3rd row?
I couldn't get 2 tix together at all, so I just shot for one.
Using a digital membership.
Welp no luc k with the presale. that was just as much of a bust as any other time I tried this. agreed that Digital onlyis probably just a donation

Yeah, oh well, I've spent worse money than supporting the band. It still is pretty damn messed up that the major perk of joining is a total bust - fairly frustrated but I'll try my hand Friday.
What time Friday do "peasant" tix go on sale???
Surprised so many of you are just like "oh well, I'll try Friday". I clicked submit for 2 tickets at 4 seconds past 10:30 and said no tickets available and I only tried for 2. I tried for 1 immediately after and none available. What a joke and I'm not really wanting to give the band any more money for last row balcony seats. This happened to me before and the admins told me they were working to fix it. This is the final straw, I like their music, I'll listen, but they take their fans money and do nothing to help them. I'm done.
Could someone explain how it is that the Digital Roll Call membership allows pre-sale at 10:30 but when you actually hit that "Ticket" at 10:30 precisely the wheel just turns and nothing. I do not understand what I am paying for if all of the tickets are sold out and being sold on the ticket sites before 10:30 even hits. I am felling like this "membership" is a scam.
I tried for 20 minutes straight varying my requests. I would get something. Should've splurged for the other package with the XS t shirt offer
Paying the extra $ I did "expect" to score tix. BUT with the venue being so small I won't hold the band hostage for my $15.
Refreshed the link at 10a on the nose and two-day passes were already sold out. I find this difficult to fathom. I was able to purchase 11/21 tickets (my birthday!) but nothing for 11/20 no matter how many times I refreshed. It would be great to know how many of these tickets were released to begin with, since the venue is so small. I'd hate to call shenanigans but this is disappointing.
if anyone has 2 for n2 beacon to trade i have pairs 8th row both nights boston, id trade either night for a good pair in the beacon on the 25th.. thanks

I was considering buying the xs deluxe package also yesterday but couldn't justify it. I wish i did now. Digital got me nothing.
The thing that is upsetting me now is how the deluxe roll call is again available in all sizes. Yesterday oy s/xs were available and this morning it said completely sold out.
Well I guess I should consider myself lucky, I logged right on at 10 and only purchased a pair for the Sat night show as Friday is impossible for me. I got a pair in row B, looks like first row of the second section back. Should still be a stellar view, I hope.

really good seat
Overhang starts around K or so, but everything in front of that is outstanding.
it's not a particularly wide theater either - the beacon in NYC & Riverside in MKE both seem larger to me (never pulled a tape on them though!) so even if you think you are to one side, you're gonna be fine.
IMO, the only "bad" seats in the Orpheum are the last 5-10 rows of the orchestra, as they are visually & sonically negatively affected by the overhang. I'd rather sit in the last row of the balc vs the last row of the orch all day long. that said...I had the 3rd to last row of the orch for the allman brothers in 2011 and didn't think the sound got muddled one bit. have seen other bands there (phil lesh, widespread panic) where the sound under the overhang is a mess.
I've never sat in the "private" boxes that are on the sides, but have heard they aren't great.

I actually just wrote the fan club an email about it, not that I'm looking for a refund but to tell them its wrong.
I even asked them yesterday if I could order the deluxe package and just receive the shirt once its back in my size. I was told the shirts were back ordered and it couldn't be done.. Give me a break, back ordered for 10 hours?

Anything to the far left or right is completely obstructed at the orpheum. In fact if you have tix in the left or right orch (not left center/right center) you will unable to see a good portion of the stage
Hey! I haven't posted a lot here, but they have been putting tickets up intermittently, even after they said they were sold out. I just pulled a 2 day pass for
Section Orchestra, Row H, Seat 203
around 10 minutes ago. Keep trying! Excited to see my first MMJ shows in a small venue!!!
Another Horrible Union bust for me trying to pick up good seats for Boston.
I was right on it at 10 with 2 computers and could get nothing for 4 seats together except half way back in orchestra; you know there are tons of unsold tickets further forward that were not available to us. I see that some scored decent seats but it looks like they only release a dozen or so really good seats or they wouldn't sell out instantly and we would be hearing about many more good scores on this forum. These presales are a sad joke and they do nothing to make them better.

You make a good point but I don't think it's quite that bad. If you are on the far edges of the outer section, then yes you will have obstructed view, but if you are on or near the aisle towards the center sections, you should be fine. I pulled MM in the way left section, but on the aisle, and pulled the trigger.

Anybody know if this'll be a no-repeat two show run?
So frustrating to see tickets on stub hub an hour after roll call goes on sale. Do they not do anything to prohibit/regulate this? People should seriously have their tickets and memberships revoked.

I agree it is very annoying. However it may or may not be roll call tix being sold. Stubhub waits until any presale til people are allowed to sell their seats. and some venues have basically season tickets, and promoters/sponsors get tix.. so its possible they came from a different outift..
Thanks to Dillsnufus I scored a solo ticket to the 2nd show. It will be my first. Hoping to go to the first show too with my wifey but who knows if its in the cards.
Was planning on Oct SF run if this didn't work out - may still do it. Hit up Yosemite too.
there was a bunch of stuff on stub hub before yesterday's on sale even started, so I don't necessarily think it was (all) from scalpers signing up for roll call.
FYI... there is a crap ton of excellent tickets available via the American Express pre-sale.
like, too many, it feels.
the mezzanine at the orpheum is $$$$$$$
Damn when did this go on sale? This seems like it was completely unannounced. I grabbed a 2nd row mezz pair, still hoping for some good orchestra seats though.
Upon further inspection it looks like these went on sale at 10am. There was no presale listed on the 'on sale time' in the ticketmaster event page (the beacon shows had presale times listed). It looks like there was nothing spectacular thru this but I'm glad I got some halfway decent seats.
wow! that is crazy. i don't have Amex and gift cards don't work (fyi). hopefully a family member will help me score in the AM. thanks for heads up!!

I bought a pair. I figure if I get better seats tomorrow during the public sale it won't be hard to sell these tickets and make my $ back. After I ordered it said you would have to wait a few hours before you were emailed the ticket.
Going to give this one a buyer beware notice.
Gilt had no clue where the seats would be, told me I should contact the vendor.. They also had no idea who the vendor was I should be reaching out to.
Going to pass unless someone manages to figure out where the seats are.. There are too man awful seats down low at the orpheum and not worth the gamble.
I bought 2 via GILT for Saturday. I will let you know where the seats are when they tell me.
gulp

I bought tix for Atlanta via the GC presale. Fox Theatre folks told me that we'll get the tickets at will call and they won't know where our seats are until then. In hindsight, I wouldn't buy through the GC presale.

Pretty sure you pick up the tickets at will call, so you'll have to scalp them outside the show. If they turn out to be not so great seats, you might have a tough time getting rid of them. So it is not like you can just put them up on stubhub since you won't know the seats until you actually pick them up. That's the part that worries me the most. I have mezz seats, but do I gamble and sell those and try to get seats in the first 10 rows?

mezz seats are excellent at the Orpheum. not great for a "energy of the crowd" seat, as you are kinda out in your own little area vs being in a packed orchestra pit or partying up in the balcony, but as far as sight & sound you can't beat it.
not that folks won't be boogeying...I've been scared more than once that the Orpheum mezz is going to crack off during big shows as it bounces up & down pretty hard.
Damn I didn't realize you don't find out where the seats are until you pick up at will call. I've been tucked into the corner at the Orpheum before and they really aren't that bad.
Took a gamble on the gilt city for Friday, hopefully it works out better then the mmj presale worked out.
Speaking of which, does anyone find it absurd that the majority of fan club members got shut out but yet there are gilt city and amex presales? Something is off with the whole process

I don't. Typically bands get around 10% of the tix for their Fan club presales. Give or take a couple of pct. The Beacon for example holds 3,200 so the band probably only got around 300 per show for Roll Call. Take into account people could get 4 tix and they go quick.
Amex, Gilt, Chase, and Radio stations have their own deals with venues/TM, and there's no way around that, unfortunately. TM takes care of the companies they partner up with and do lots of business with. Not much the average fan can do about that.
I used a Gilt presale for one of my three Chicago tickets and was quite satisfied (7th row behind the GA pit). I got a "print-at-home" style ticket once I was notified of the seat, weeks after purchase but well before the show. I was nervous and skeptical, but would have probably tried my hand at Gilt for those Boston shows... if I still lived in New England.
Just to confirm.. if my ticket says ORCH NN seat 13, left of center.... that is section LC and not the all the way left one right?
Some seating charts have the double letter rows only in the 2 center sections and some have them in the far left and right as well.
Edit: fuck wait, i think I'm all the way to the left. shit.

Yeah it looks like those are way off on the side.
Yeah, the far left section goes from seat 1-17, with 1 being closer to the center.
Jesus fucking christ. Could the seating be more confusing here?
Well fuck it. Night 1 I'll be all the way to the left.
I have an extra to night 2, row MM seat 114, available for trade. I'll be looking to get closer to center on night 1.

That was a shit-show.

No I didn't see that anywhere. It's been a while since I did a TM public sale so maybe I missed it but I don't think so. I'm looking at the confirmation email now and it does not say obstructed anywhere.

Thanks man. Let me know. I'll let you know if I find something else.
I've seen dozens of shows at the orpheum so just chiming in to agree with a lot of what's been said.
Mezz seats are great - not "jim james just sweat on me" great but perfect sightlines and sound. Row A in Mezz are as sweet as it gets and you'll see them on scalper sites for big bucks, but there are only 3 rows so any are fine. It's been a good option with my wife when I'm shooting for a hassle free night. Yes I've felt that whole balcony sway up and down a good 18" and you really start wondering about your plan in a structural disaster. Tool '06 comes to mind as a time I thought death was imminent.
Balcony seats are fine too - really, there's not a terrible seat in the house. I mean I can't pretend they are great and are likely not anyone's first choice, but I wouldn't be heartbroken. I saw Wilco from the balcony and had a good old time.
As far as orchestra extreme side seating, as long as you are reasonably close to the aisle you will be absolutely fine. It does get tricky the further away you go (sorry joey rogo) depending on the stage setup. but the only one's I'd realy hesitate for are the ones marked obstructed view - it should have popped up and warned you - and if it didn't, you are fine. You can find a detailed seating chart and see how many are in the row and how far you are. Hopefully it's not the last 2-3 seats.
I ended with front row in the first mini balcony seats on Carl's side from this sale. It said obstructed but it looks OK to me. Anyone ever sit up there?

TOOL 06 at the Orpheum was epic. I remember going into work to log into every PC on my floor and scored tickets in the last row of the orchestra on only one PC.

The left/right orchestra seating is pretty easy to understand. If you are far right the right side of the stage will be obstructed, if you are far left the left side of the stage will be obstructed. Sometimes they have speaker towers set up on the corners which really f's things up, but regardless you'll have some obstruction.. If you are on the aisle you will be okay, but those first two seats are really it. Also the further back you are on the far right or left side the better off you are, the first 5 or 6 rows from the stage are the worse off by far... You'll also be limited with how much depth of the stage you can see, like the drums and backdrop might be cut off etc.
Same scenario for the left or right boxes.
Orpheum needs to do a better job as marking them as obstructed, i've only seen the very close seats, like 1-4 first few rows on the left or right side marked as obstructed when many more should have been.
I will say I think the boxes are always marked as limited view, those seats are usually dropped later on depending on demand of show. I'm surprised they were sold today.
When the onsale started the map seat selection opened up and really caught me off guard. I kinda panicked and picked those seats after trying for a few other spots but not being able to push them through.
The seats look like they're right on top of the stage though so that could be pretty sweet if the speaker stack isn't blocking the view.

Hey, in the end its about the tunes, it's going to be a great show regardless. You'll be able to see Jim for sure regardless of where anyone is sitting.
On a happier note people might be glad to know that Orpheum has some of the cheapest beers of any Boston venue. They sell the 24 ounce pounders for like $12-14 each... in Boston that is a steal.
Found it funny how, once again, the email about tickets going on sale arrived well after the sale had begun.

LOL that's a steal...LOL how thats actually true. Meanwhile up here in Maine I get em for $1.99...thats only a 600% mark up, lol...but hey its beer.

Wish I still lived in New England, Matt. Hope you're well. Enjoy those shows!
By the way gambled and bought Dave Gilmour MSG tix at 10 today passing on the Saturday MMJ onsale.. Hope I didn't make a mistake.
Saw it as a once in a lifetime opportunity and already have Friday tickets, also saw them at Roo last month. Amazing show to say the least
I got my voucher thingy from gilt city for fri night, (they sent it in an email) got a Single seat in row JJ which is great.
Haven't gotten an email about the sat night show, hopefully that'll happen soon.
Anyone else hear anything re: gilt city presale?
Row RR on right side available now for Sat show and some in the same area for Fri.

Y'all prob think my seats are unbearable - ORCH S for Fri and ORCH F for Sat.I def should've grabbed MEZZ seats that I could've had thru Amex resale instead of S. Rookie mistake!

Thanks CountSA.
That will work out great - leave at 7.
The gilt city promo was a good gamble, got 9th row left center orch just off the center aisle.
Wish i rolled the dice on saturday also, now i'm going to have to scramble to get some tickets that night.
My Gilt tickets ended up being Row GG (4th row) seats 109 & 111 for Saturday.
Prolly have an extra pair for first night of anyone needs , I got 2 pairs unexpectedly in the presale haha
Kind of getting ahead of myself a bit here but anyone by any chance score tickets in Left Center row MM for Friday night during any of the presales? I got mine through Gilt, so maybe there was an allotment in that row?
Trying to work out trade if you did so I can score 4 tickets together. Trade would work in your favor if you have one of the pairs I am looking for.
looking at a last minute trip to Boston with the wife to see MMJ in Boston
Rookie question: on the two night runs, I assume the set lists are completely different for Fri/Sat?
How about 3 night runs or The Beacon run?
Ideally want to lock in both nights but wanted to ensure there would be few repeats if any
Thanks

Hey y'all, Brown University student here without a car. As the MBTA doesn't run post 11:00, I would be stranded in Boston if I went to this show. As such, I wonder if I could crash on your couch after Saturday's show. I am a monstrous fan of the band, have seen MMJ 3 times and Jim James once. I would love to compensate you with a six pack and provide some green if that tickles your fancy. See y'all Saturday!
P.S - not sure why it says I am a new member. I posted here a few times in 2012. :/

Stoddards is pretty small, long bar but very cramped.. half restuarant also.
I'd suggest Beantown pub or Scholars... much bigger spaces.
beantown pub is more of a dive bra, Scholars is similar to Stoddards.
Stoddard's tho has a 10X better beer list and good food

Is it poor form to request songs that I don't "need" to hear Saturday to #MMJBOS1? :/
Doors at 6:45 according to security at the venue
This is probably a long shot but I'm looking to scoop a deal on couple good seats last minute for tonight. If anyone is in the area and sees this, could you let me know if there are people selling them outside down there? Thinking I might get lucky from a scalper if I wait it out until after doors open. Thanks!
EDIT: Picked some up online – woohoo!!
Anyone know set time?
What a fucking show. Holy shit.
Any setlist updates?
No clue how tomorrow can be better.. If you were there consider yourself lucky

There wasnt a line at all really lol I think the 6:45 7:30 doors confusion helped that.

I don't even like Spring and it was the best song from last night. Jesus! Also great: muhfuckin War Begun, Wordless was outfuckin standing as was war begun cuz that's my favorite and was written for me as a 12 year old tocope with my shitty future, it bears repeating, and lay low is so dark it is wonderful--- there is a sort of malevolence to many of their earlier songs that I feel is largely lacking from the more optimistic post Circuital stuff but still. Great great great. And whoever farted during Nashville to Kentucky: I know you are reading this and take some fuckin beano before tonight's show. Dead end nightmare indeed
Where's the after party?
The Tam
Mahg33ta, this seat is really great! Thanks again for your help. Enjoy the show.
Epic show at the Orpheum last night (Fri. 1st show). Best I've ever seen them.

DAMN! how are people not going crazy! i guess im just the weird one who absolutely loses my mind at shows
Dancefloors!!!!!

Man, that was one of the best shows I have ever seen, and must be one of the best MMJ shows, I think. The whole time I was hoping it was being taped for a future thing, but no cameras, of course. At least maybe the audio will be available somewhere?
What do you all think about 11/21 compared to 11/20 ?
They didn't repeat any songs which was nice. Night 1 I had front row so I may be bias. The crowd energy was spectacular on Night 2 tho.
great video from Night 1. that was incredible.
I agree on the crowd energy from Night 2, people were moving that joint; felt like a old-time rock show from back in the heyday of the Orpheum. warms the old cockles thinking of that.
Also felt that the first night was more pop oriented and they saved all the big guitar tunes for the second night (sort of, Lay Low excepted)
Personally I thought 11/20 was a bit better than 11/21. Opening with The Dark, Dondante->Phone Went West and the entirety of the encore were highlights of the first night, but tonight's show was killer too! Remnants was a song I never thought I'd see live and Dancefloors was AMAZING. Still no Strangulation in the great city of Boston though, kinda bummed about that but I definitely cannot complain. Two absolutely incredible shows. The Reno posters are beautiful as well. Can't wait to frame them.
Okay so here is why Ithought the first night was better.
I like older stuff and night 1 had three TF songs
- If I just looked at a setlist I wouldn't have considered last night v special but they brought it hugely and songs I don't even like were in some cases highlights like Spring and, oh Compound Fracture. Whereas on Night 2, songs I didn't like didn't transcend. That said, after an initial lull they finished out incredibly strong. Steam Engine on was practically a dance party (not many people danced though) although the crowd was more into night 1. They sang along so loud night 1 it ruled. Way more energy than usual for a Boston crowd.
I only went Friday, and just looking at the set lists, I'm glad that's the night I chose. Very happy to get both (an epic) Dondante AND Gideon in the same show. I'm sure night 2 was amazing as well. These guys are just rocking so hard right now and sounding SO good. For those going to NY - you are in for a serious treat!

I look forward to meeting some folks at the Amsterdamn Ale house. I'll bring a bunch of copies of my recording from night 1 in Boston. Not sure if I'll tape at the Beacon, seems the policy now is head/shoulder height.
Night 1 was better than night 2. Something happened after Run>Dancefloors with the band and then continued with a weak encore compared to Friday. Night 2 opened well but Night 1 was a full-on face melt. Anytime you get A dark (totally unexpected opener), a Dondonte, a P double dub, War fucking begun, Gideon and Nashville I would chalk that up as an EPIC show! So, so happy now for a couple years until they come back...
Night 1 was by far better than Night 2. The jazzy end to "Dondante" that segued into a funk-defied opening of PWW was genius. "War Begun", "The Dark", "Nashville to Kentucky" - deep covers which added to the night. The band played 7 tracks from "Z" on Night 1, so that meant Night 2 was going to be mostly fillers.
Night 2 was good, though. "Remnants" was great, but the band didn't hit its high point until midway through the opening set. From "State of the Art" to "Dancefloors", that was a face-melting time (sans "Outta My System"). The "State of the Art" - "Masterplan" combo was awesome. The crowd went ballistic for "Scream Pt. 2" (our side - orchestra left near the stage - was highly engaged throughout the night). The encore, though, was highly disappointing. Fortunately, some of us got to meet Jim on Saturday night, so that led to the night ending on a high.
Good show. Dang though, I'm 0 for 2 for Boston venues. I know the band loves that town, but dang between the Agganis and Orpheum, they need to find some better spots to play.
I only went night two but was in ROW X in Orch and the sound was just soft. Mix was good, but just not loud enough. We moved down during Steam Engine thou

Being born and bread in Boston I have to strongly disagree, Orpheum is easily one of the best venues in the city..

I agree with you Rasta. The Orpheum is def not one of those not a bad seat in the house and the sound is great throughout medium sized venues. It's just not. I'm glad we have the Orpheum but the sound for me on Night 1 was muffled and reverby. And unfortunately saying that it's one of the best in our city does not make it great. Knowing where to sit and not to sit can improve the experience however. But when compared to the Masonic in SF last month the sound was incomparable which makes me sad.

Damn are you kidding!?! I'm gonna pretend that's a lie. Oh well, parenthood strikes again.
Despite night 2's setlist, the band was amazing. Remnants was freaking EPIC (I'd forgotten). aeiou, master plan, steam and dancefloors were great. Even Circuital and im amazed 2 tracks I always swear I could never hear again were fun to watch (solely due to Carl Broemel shredding the solos).
Also this was my first shows hearing Waterfall tracks and thought they slayed them
I thought sound could have been better on both nights. Night 1 I was under the overhang to the balcony and it was reverb-y; Night 2 I was 7th row and it was def better but still not nearly as good as it should have been. I'm not an acoustical engineer, but I think the way in which the PAs are aligned is the problem, they are not designed for that space, although they seem to be high quality.
Anyway, impressions are funny. I though Night 2 was better by a good bit, but it was a different show. Carl was on fire the second night. Jim is not nearly as active as he was during the NYE show a few years ago, for example.
Dills, your videos are simply amazing. Thanks so much for making the effort to take these and post. What rig were you using? You were very close to us the second night, perhaps with external mics on your cellphone?

Yeah, I saw you holding that rig a lot on Sat night. Just to the left of us on the other side of the aisle and a couple of rows forward, maybe in row MM?
I'm not an Apple fan, but they have always had the lead in photos and movies over Androids. I've got a Samsung S5 and it can't hold a candle to your i-phone.
I walked by you on night two as I was walking down the aisle. I was tempted to lean over and photobomb your video but thought the better of it.
