I rushed to a computer thinking today was the regular on sale. I see it's only the Gilt city or whatever which is more expensive. Tomorrow I will get good seats for Wednesday :)

Anyone know what Orchestra 1, Orchestra 2 means? Like....I thought that was for the numbers behind the section in the seating chart but now I"m realizing that's probably for seat numbers. What is the difference?

Yeah, that chart is spot on. Basically at all levels the Center section is C, the 1,and 3 are to one side, and the seats there are odd numbered. Ie, 1,3,5. The other side is even sections, and seats. Only the Center sections have consecutive seat numbers. Ie, 101,102, 103 etc.
Call it a case of the "shutout" blues, but I'm really hoping I can pull something decent tomorrow. If I'm forced to go to StubHub for decent seats, this may price the trip out of my range.

Oh I definitely think they could do that! Just doesn't hurt to keep checking, it's a common practice when adding shows to do it immediately.

No, you're right about giving a heads up to keep checking. It doesn't hurt. I would just hope they somehow give RCers some type of heads up if they just add on shows. It would suck for scalpers, and everyone else to get first dibs by not having a RC presale.
Yeah, these presales have pretty much sucked for both venues although I was able to get 2nd row balcony near center for Boston Fri night because of one of these random adds of seats early this morning to the AmEx presale. I hope the public sale has some good tix or I may just wait for something better.
The reason I'm posting here is that I'm pretty sure I'm going to run up and back solo on the train for Tuesday's Beacon show with a couple of old friends. I have to cook Thanksgiving dinner or everyone starves so Wed is not going to be an option.

Sometimes TM releases seats as far as half-an-hour into the sale. Might be carts timing out -- or more likely -- because they've already sold the desperate saps on shittier seats and now they can start releasing the better ones.

I got completely shut out even though I was right on it at noon. I saw a few lousy singles but this is a joke. There's no way this is sold out and there are plenty of seats left that they are holding back. It would be nice to know when they will be released. If they are testing the waters for adding a Fri and Sat show, it might be sooner than usual.

I'm holding out in hopes of the Fri/Sat show. I tried for tickets today just to see what was available and I was shut out of both days. They are definitely holding tickets, there is no way it sold out this fast.

Your obstruction won't be bad IMO. The soundboard is wide but there's usually only two people in there that you'll have to see beyond, as opposed to a whole row of standing peeps. I don't remember it going all across the section, and depending on what side your seat is, it might not be obstructed at all. I could be misremembering that a bit but just going off memory in passing it, and not having sat behind or real close to it.

I'd be surprised if more shows aren't added. They played Radio City Music Hall in 2008 and that holds 6k people. Two Beacon shows hold the same amount.

They may have. I have been banned in the past for trying to get tickets to quickly (refreshing/searching again too much). Very frustrating and stressful when that happens.

Well you're guaranteed to have excellent sound!! No question about that. As far as being far back, you won't be getting any ET fingers from Jim, but the Beacon isn't all that big, and I don't think you'll be bummed with the distance.
Here's a pic of the Allman's sound board. They have a couple of monitor type things going on, and this pic is from 2013. It might've had something to do with their web stream they offered. I don't remember seeing those at any other shows I've seen there.

Yeah they do that once in a while if you keep searching, and tossing back too many tix. They'll lock you out for 24 hours sometimes.
I'm excited no matter what. Just wish I could have scored the seat I had in my cart or convince one of my friends to go to these shows. So many of them don't obsess about MMJ or don't want to spend the money (which is expensive if you're not a hardcore fan).
Hoping I'm able to do 3 (or 4) of the shows assuming the others get announced. It's been too long without a full length Jacket show
Shut out in the Roll Call presale, passed on the crap seats in the American Express presale, and passed on the Gilt presale since you don't know where your seats are and don't find out until will call (plus $110 ea for $81 seats...come on). Now after an hour of trying on TM I can only pull up Upper Balcony...WTF. I guess I'll have to hope for some more show announcements and/or try to pick up some face value seats the week of. Bummed.
I hate to complain but Roll Call really needs to work on securing more tickets for high demand shows like these. After getting shut out and reading all the posts here it's apparent they didn't have many to go around. Some of the other presales seemed to have more/better tickets. Oh well...I guess I have 4 months to find some!
It doesn't help that it's a relatively small-ish venue and there were like 5 different pre-sales to divide all the tickets up to.
You know what really hurts? Seeing front row center tickets on sale on Stubhub for over $200 (some asking for $600-2,000). Let the fans have the tickets. I hate this.

Definitely worth a shot. It can't hurt to try.
They really are Ticketbastards though. They have their refund/ exchange policy in big, bold letters like they're all costumer friendly but they drop the "participating venue" thing in there in smaller letters as a nice disclaimer for them. Then when you see the list, there's not exactly a lot of venues in NYC they do this for. No Beacon, no MSG, no Nokia Theater( or whatever it's called now).

I always hate waiting until the day of a show and then losing out on a little bit when people don't want to pay for face value. In the end I'll be happy cuz I have two nights of MMJ but right now my wallet is hurting a little.

That's how I got front row center section for Tame Impala. I had a feeling they would add another date so I just kept refreshing.
Maybe these ones aren't 100% sold out yet and they'll announce it when all the tix are gone?

When I purchased tickets to Tuesday night, the receipt on my tickets said "Obstructed View." This angered me because I was not given warning prior to check-out. This also prompted to me try and get different seats, which I was able to obtain.
I called Ticketmaster and they told me that The Beacon is not on their list of venues that offer refunds (something that others have echoes in other threads). If Ticketmaster/Beacon is not able to prove that i was advised of the obstructed view prior to checkout, they would refund my money.
Just received a notice that my tickets have been refunded. If this scenario happened to anyone else and they would like their money back, I would suggest calling 1 (800) 653-8000. This is the number for pre-existing order.

Wonderfulman - where did you say it said "Obstructed View"? I'm almost positive when I bought my tickets it said obstructed in the checkout but now I'm not seeing it anywhere on my ticket info or receipt.

Thanks so much for the help! I'm hoping it works out. I bought my ticket on the computer and the fact that I had already called looking for a basic refund (not because of obstructed) hurts my case. I think also because it's a few days later instead of the day of the sale.
I'm hoping Beacon just says screw it and tells TM to refund my money. Otherwise I'll be looking to unload it. Wouldn't be terrible but definitely would prefer having the money back in my account soon.

Got decent LOGE seats for all four nights. Not entirely sure I'll use them yet.

Yea, in all honesty i'm going to be a little bummed if i get the loge, figured i was one of the first who ordered it so hoping i get the orch tix in rows dd-b. It kind of sucks not knowing where your tickets will be until after the onsale but it's worth the gamble. You have to assume the Friday and Saturday shows are going to be a fairly hot ticket being Thanksgiving weekend and all.. People have the time off.
Such a tough choice. I don't want to spend $105 (already have 3 expensive tickets AND own the album) but a guaranteed orchestra in those rows?
Anyone know if they are in the center or off to the side? Or both?

yea its an unfortunate gamble. Gilt worked well for me in Boston, got 8th row center.. and the Loge is actually awesome at the Beacon, it was my preferred section during the Allman runs.. but an MMJ show is a bit different, being in the orch is the place to be.
Yea, I've been lucky with orchestra so far so shooting for that.
Since Gilt City tickets are vouchers (I think), are you able to sell them? I really don't want Loge, so not sure I want to take the chance.

I really don't know, it asks for a will call contact but it also says it will email vouchers to get in.

I pulled the trigger and bought them from Gilt City for Sat.. I've been stressing and spending way too much time on this the past week, and the "worst" I can do is Loge.
Aaaaaand I changed my mind. I went through with it. I paid extra and really don't need another digital copy of the album but I didn't want the hassle of the regular sale tomorrow while I'm in a field in Newport on my phone.
I just had visions of getting no service or whatever and being shut out completely.

Hopefully seat allocation is based on when you purchased the seats, i'd imagine we'd have to be some of the first buyers. I checked gilt first thing this morning and it wasn't up yet so i think it might have been posted at 10.

Did anybody else do the Gilt presale for the first few shows? I'm just curious of y'all's seats ended up if you did.
I didn't for those but it said you'll be notified by around 7/24. I did it today for Saturday,and it said we'll be notified within 24 hours so it looks like they'll be doing all the shows the same day.
FYI, the first two offered AA-DD for Orch with the same Loge as today but these two only offered DD-B for Orchs. Still sweet tix if we get Orchs.

Their email came about an hour before the RC one for the first presale, but I didn't get one from RC yet for this one. So glad I got it direct from Gilt, and didn't have to wait on RC as they definitely fill first come first served.

It was Orch 2 or 3. An even numbered seat. If it was a couple of rows back I would've been tempted, even with my Gilt purchase but it was actually too close to be that far outside,imo.

I got row J and BB for Friday and Saturday. Got in immediately. Much easier than last week. There are still tickets out there. If you can't pull a pair just get single tickets. That seems to be the trend. And I think the app is easier and better. 4 MMJ Thanksgiving shows. This is going to be epic.
I could only get one single for Friday so far. If anyone has extra decent Saturday's on the floor, please pm me.

After many refreshes I got a pair to Friday's show. Section ORCH4, Row S, I think it's the farthest spot on the floor. Frustrating, but happy I got tickets at least!

Hello all. I am new to the site. Longtime MMJ fan but just going to see them live for the 2nd time tomorrow at XPonential. Also landed two seats in the third row of the loge for the Saturday show of the Beacon run. Only other time I saw them was when they opens for Tom Petty and stole the show. I love this band!
Will be at all 4 in the Loge.
So what are we thinking in terms of repeats over the 4 nights?

They really are Ticketbastards though. They have their refund/ exchange policy in big, bold letters like they're all costumer friendly but they drop the "participating venue" thing in there in smaller letters as a nice disclaimer for them. Then when you see the list, there's not exactly a lot of venues in NYC they do this for. No Beacon, no MSG, no Nokia Theater( or whatever it's called now).

I got my crappy seat cancelled and refunded to me. So happy now. Thanks so much walterfredo and ericm for guiding me to give that a try and specifically for wonderfulman giving me the tip of making sure to mention it was obstructed. I just went to check my bank and saw the deposit and went to Ticketmaster and saw the obstructed view seat ticket had been cancelled. Now I'm all set. Tickets for all 4 nights AND no extras to worry about/hurt my wallet.
I'm so damn excited for these shows and they're many months away. I can't wait!

What are rock shows at this venue usually like? I only have Massey Hall in Toronto to compare it to. For some "heavier" bands (The National, Tame Impala, Death Cab) people will get out of their chairs on the floor, and flood right up to the stage. Will this be the case for MMJ? Or will it be a "remain in your seat" kinda show?
I'd guess an in your seat standing kind of show.
I've seen the ABB at the Beacon at least a dozen times. Granted its an older crowd, everyone is respectful, stays put, and has a good time.
I doubt Beacon Staff would let the crowd get out of hand, although they do tend to turn a blind eye to smoking.. Again at least at the Brothers

people will be standing, but in their own seat. ive seen many confrontations with smokers at non ABB shows there, so use caution. ive seen people booted in fact. not syaing you cant, but just dont want someone who wasnt from here to think its an open free for all. it may not be..

Yeah, this is pretty much right on. The front row will dictate the standing for the Orchestra. If they sit, most or the Orch will sit. If they stand, and move to the edge of the stage, the Orch will follow suit, and stand. I expect this to be an at your seat, standing show at least in the Orch. I don't remember the aisles being rushed or not kept clear during a show there, even when everyone is standing,except maybe for the last song or two.
For the most part everyone is respectful, and stays put. NYC is strict about their fire codes, and MSG, The Beacon etc do a good job with crowd control, and keeping aisles clear. I really doubt it's gonna turn into a GA type atmosphere. I've never seen that in all the years I've been going to shows there.
Loge and balcony have always been seated at the ABB and have actually seen some heated confrontations with people standing in those sections.
Again, older crowd and many purposely buy those sections so they don't have to stand.

- for the shows ive seen up there in loge/balcony:
allmans and steely dan people sit - maybe stand for the encore
pearl jam, coldplay, petty and tab people stood pretty much all show..
i think mmj is gonna be more like the latter group with a few people sitting here and there which happens at all venues everywhere..
the aisles will be kept clear and you have to stay in your allotted area for sure, defintiely wont turn into a ga fest..

we will be standing and dancing in the front of the Loge all 4 nights.
My wife and I got yelled at during an ABB show for dancing up in the balcony - real buzz kill (and it happened again last night at SPAC for TTB). MMJ crowd trends younger than ABB and honestly, you gotta throw down with the boys!!
I have 3 tickets for Sat 11/28, Lower Balc Center, row C on the aisle.
I'd like to trade these for 3 Wed tickets in the lower balc or Loge.
Any face value difference will be made up. NOT FOR SALE.

Yeah that's a good one but it is a little off in the Loge and balconies. Some seat numbers are doubled up. Eg Loge seat #27, and some balcony outside aisle seats aren't correct but for the most part this is the chart to use.
I'm potentially looking for tix for this for the weekend shows (Fri/Sat). It's in the works - can't make any promises. If anyone has some decent tixs for Fri/Sat for sale, please let me know. Thx :beer:

I finally dropped the 'I wanna go to all 4 NYC shows' to my wife and she was surprisingly ok with despite going to both Boston shows as well.

Things jelled pretty quick this morning with my friends. They gave the go-ahead and I checked out ticketbastard and found no 4-together seats on the standard sale but then hit the Chase sale and scored 4 together near center at the back of the lower balcony, 10 rows behind and exactly the same numbered seats I have for my other 4 tix on Sat. It's gonna be a little different Thanksgiving than in years past. :cheesy: :beer:

Ok, I think your best bet would be to post them up at the top of the shows page, where it says tix for sale. You should do fine with unloading them.

There's been a lot of talks of Okonokos II, but has there been an opportunity greater than 4 nights in NYC better to make it happen? As much as I'd like to think that it will be 4 nights of no repeats, has there been a better opportunity to make sure they're able to record a solid bunch of songs while making sure there are no mistakes in the songs that are played?

I'm with you man. No repeats all the way. If every other multi night run gets them why would NYC be any different?
These shows will be the last of the tour, and if they don't have the songs down perfectly or how they want them by then, I can't imagine they ever will. No reason they can't pull off each song to their liking by only playing them once during the run,IMO.

Ticket says Obstructed View but from everything I've read online and in this forum, there is no obstruction as the tickets are a row or two behind the soundboard, but a non-issue especially with everyone standing. They are great seats! and with perfect sound!
I'm looking to trade this pair, for a comparable pair of seats for Tuesday 11/24.

Also not a big deal but Amsterdam Ave runs directly behind the Beacon and the Alehouse is a block or so North on Amsterdam Ave. The Beacon is on Broadway between 74th and 75th. Alehouse is on the corner of 76th and Amsterdam Ave.

This place is great AND it's right next to the venue. I've meet up with people there before shows and it's never crowded. I think it's under the radar for most since it's relatively new and they don't have an extensive food menu.
Food rec - There aren't many place right near the Beacon that are worth talking about. This place opened last winter. The restaurant group is amazing and all of their Greek style restaurants are terrific. The hummus is to die for.

Fairway (which is a grocery store across the street) has a really good restaurant upstairs. It's casual, not too expensive, and has a cool atmosphere. I would definitely go there one night and then parkervb you can find a Panera for the other three ;)

Yes there are but they've been available all along. The Tuesday and Wednesday shows have been sold out for a while now, and I haven't seen even a single ticket on TM for weeks now for those shows.

Yeah that's my take too. I haven't seen anything good at even a somewhat reasonable price for Tuesday on StubHub.
So far I only have tickets for Wednesday and Friday. Sadly, it seems like tickets for the other 2 shows are a lot tougher to come by.
I imagine they will release some tickets for all shows in the next few days, keep your eyes peeled!

I hope they record all 4 nights and release them. Still waiting on T5 but will be happy with this as well. Such a big fan of quality audio from shows you've attended.

I would imagine security will be tight... it used to be lax for Allman Bros back in the day but times are different. Security will be tight and will be welcome.
I think security was pretty much non-existent for Sturgill Simpson there a couple months ago. Could be different for MMJ though.

i think there's been some devastatingly awful developments in the last few weeks that would cause a difference in security vs what band is playing.

I think C & D are most likely. When they sell audio, they don't always prohibit taping at those shows. In fact, I don't even think they know which shows will get a release via Nugs until after. As far as a live stream, they'd probably already have announced it to maximize purchases.

Totally agree Parker. Hell, it seems the whole city has ratcheted up security since those awful happenings last week. I'd expect the Beacon to have security measures in place, and it might make for a slower entry but I've got no problems with that. In fact I'd welcome it.
Just a heads up for anyone coming without tix to any of the shows.....be VERY leery of scalpers outside. Fakes are rampant, and I've seen people getting scammed, turned away, getting taken for their money at just about every show I've been to there recently. Same with MSG.
If you do think about it,at least get them to walk you to entry. If they make up some excuse why they can't, walk away. DO NOT buy that ticket! You might as well just give the guy your money for talking to you because that's all you'll be getting for your money.

Probably right. Although I've been to two shows post-Paris at smaller clubs in NYC and security was no different than it had ever been (i.e., non-existent).

I'm sure where you are sitting and how rowdy the show is getting will play a factor. Not sure....most of the Beacon shows I've seen have been calmer/sit-down affairs without much in the way of distractions.

I'd agree with this. For the last Allmans run people were lighting up in the Balcony and I did notice a few puffs of smoke down in the Orch but that appeared to be tougher even for one of their shows. Which for the most part was everyone in the Orch standing, as I'm sure these will be too.

I've never had any trouble at the beacon. It's easy but just pay attention to security. If everyone's standing then sit down for a minute. They don't wanna throw you out for smoking so be respectful while you do your business.

I would expect a metal detector walk thru. MSG implemented this two weeks ago for the Dead and Company shows and they own the Beacon. I'm not 100%, but if you have a pen you may want to reconsider how you are going to get it in to the show. Otherwise the security is pretty chill if you keep things low and not obvious.

I don't believe pens will be an issue. I went through a detector at Kings Theatre with one as did many friends and nobody had any problems.

yep.. that all but guarantees that Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be INSANE in terms of rarity. I'm sure Friday and Saturday will be great too but they will have to pander to a weekend crowd a bit more and save their hits/heavy hitters...

ya know, I'm kinda concerned that they will be strict on backpacks coming in. I'm travelling up from VA and only have an AirBnB for Friday night meaning I will need to carry my backpack with me to the Saturday show. I hope its not a hassle, but at least I can get a read on the situation on Friday night.
There's no re-entry, right? I'm going to head right to Beacon when I get into the city to try and grab a poster but it's going to suck hanging around for over an hour or so in the theater. Maybe I'll get a few $14 drinks.

I took a backpack into barclays center last night, which has always had tight security (metal detectors, wands, etc.), and they looked inside just like anywhere else with substantial security and gave it back to me.

yep.. that all but guarantees that Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be INSANE in terms of rarity. I'm sure Friday and Saturday will be great too but they will have to pander to a weekend crowd a bit more and save their hits/heavy hitters...

I hope that I get every single note of all 4 nights released. Whenever there's a no recording policy from a band that typically allows taping, it feels like more of a mass, commercial release is planned (think Okonokos 2). And while that sounds great, it would be somewhat disappointing to me for the 4 night stand to be reduced to a "Best of" compilation. My hope is for something like what DMB has done with a couple of their releases - a best of compilation that's in stores and meant for the masses, but with a more expensive "Complete Run" box set that has every show in its entirety.
I just called the Beacon. Only asked about tonight's show. Initially they told me there was no opener, but when I said there was, they put me on hold. They said Woods is on from 8pm to 8:40. MMJ will be on from about 9:10 to about 11:30.

My wife and I are in for Saturday. As a taper, I was a little bummed out about no taping but if they plan on releasing these shows for an official release I'll take that trade-off. Hoping to roll into the city from the in laws in Ct around 4:00. Get a bite to eat and head of to the Amesterdamn ale house. New to this board so looking forward to meeting some folks. Those going tonight, have a great time.
I'm hoping we get Into the Woods one of these four nights.
At the Chicago Theatre shows (which is a similar venue to the Beacon and also owned by MSG I believe) they had a very cool re-entry system where you could "unscan" your ticket to leave the venue and then "rescan" it to get back in. I did that after buying my poster and it might work tonight.
Any word on posters for this run?

So I'm taking Jim's "every song" comment with a grain of salt, just because I feel like they say things like that somewhat off the cuff. But, I did a bit of quick math and came away with the following:
Let's assume, conservatively, that every night is 20-22 songs. That seems to be about average. That has us looking at anywhere from 80-88 songs over 4 nights. If they play every MMJ/New Basement Tapes/Jim James tune they have played over this tour so far, that gets us to 78 songs. That gives us anywhere from 2-10 songs that haven't been played on tour yet.

Insanely ridiculous show. I bought a poster during Infancy. They told me there were 4 left. I walked in at 9 pm and I didn't even check because I assumed they were sold out.
Really put the Philly show to shame. Made it seem like a practice gig. Carl was the star of the night- all over the place in every sense and looking like a true rock star enjoying himself. Really amazing show
I am in awe of that setlist!!! I am so happy for all that got to make the trek out to NY to see these shows. And this was only night one, are you kidding me?????

kinda bummed there was just one song from the Waterfall. Don't get me wrong, I think the album is fantastic, I'm coming Fri/Sat so it just decreases the odds of some deeps cut those nights.

Such a great night and such a mix of songs. I didn't see the opener but MMJ hit the stage at 9:15 and exited at 11:30. I was in the front of the loge so I had a great vantage point of the crowd. The crowd was totally into it in all locations! Really rocking out and enjoying the show. Carl was really on fire. It was funny that Jim didn't say one word to the audience during the entire show. It was as if they were really focused on the music. Dondante was spectacular!
I hope we get an official release of this full show!
To all of those going to these next 3, enjoy!
What a fine looking show. Hurts even more that I had to sell my tickets but at least they went to a friend who's going to appreciate the greatness of that show. I'm going Saturday and I know they'll bring the goods but this one smarts a bit. It would be nice to see them split up the records a bit more evenly each night throughout the run but that's just my opinion. Great job boys. Pumped for Saturday!

But if they keep to the same format as last night, there should be plenty of pudding leftover after tonight. With a mix of the normal staple tunes, there is still so much goodness to be had

Not to be debbie downer, but this is my fourth mmj show- I was there last night and in Philly as well. I've noticed that there is a hardcore fan base that sings along and has a great time- but overall audiences at MMJ shows are terrible. I hate to say it, but last night might have been as a whole the worst audience experience I've had at a show. This is a band putting every ounce of their souls into this deeply spiritual music, and people were chit chatting away, waltzing up and down the aisles, updating facebook, texting and generally acting as if whatever thoughts/conversations were of equal or greater importance than one of the greatest rock bands pulling out rare treats. People were taking the acoustic numbers as opportunities to hear themselves talk. What should have been one of the best shows I've ever been at was almost ruined. Philly wasn't much better. During the climax of dodonte the dude next to me was texting with his brightness setting set to sun levels. It was hard to believe he would pay money to go to a MMJ show and ignore the most transcendent moment. I know it's a rock show, but jeez- this isn't a band with one hit, they you have to sit through filler to get to what you want to hear.
Just thought I'd get this off my chest.
Otherwise it was un-freaking-real. It actualyl inspired me to go back Saturday. I can't go what could be another year with that being the taste left in my mouth.

Sorry to hear that your experience was crappy. I sat in the Orchestra last night and definitely felt the energy of the whole building! The people in my section were singing along and definitely respectful during the acoustic tunes. I even turned around to see how the rest of the crowd looked it appeared everyone was having the time of their life. Even Christopher Mintz (aka McLovin from Superbad) was in the crowd going ape shit.
With that being said, my buddy sat in the Upper Balcony and said that the crowd was not that great. If you don't mind me asking, where did you sit? I'm sitting in the Loge tonight and hope that the shenanigans did not take place there.
I must have been in a good section (front of Loge) because I had no issues with loud talkers or texters/facebook updaters. I was able to fully invest in the concert and it was magical. It does always suck when something like that can ruin a show for you. And unlike most shows you can't just simply move away to the other side and get a better spot. Hopefully Saturday is better for you.

Well... I kinda go in my own zone during their shows, and nothing is gonna ruin that for me
I was in Lower Balcony, not the greatest. A lot of people sitting/talking/texting. Sitting really doesn't bother just weird to see the majority of the Lower Balcony sitting even for the upbeat songs. I'm in the Loge tonight, hopefully it's a better crowd.

I generally am able to just get in the zone- but the talking texting, and general unsettled groups of people moving around trying to find unoccupied seats was distracting. I'm right up front saturday- Orch center row CC. it wasn't all ruined for me. It was still a great show.
I've learned over the years that it's best to be as close as possible for Jacket shows because the further back you go the more riff raff there is to deal with. All the die hards are on the rail and that's where you go so that we can all sing along and drown out the bs. And forget about the balcony.. nothing but lame sauce up there. Too bad because its usually such a great view.. but the cell phone glow and chit chat certainly takes away from that.
All of this is why i'm okay with the band never getting any bigger. I think some people have this fantasy in their head that if the band can achieve super stardom it will be huge arenas filled with die hards, who know all the words to all the songs, all the subtleties, and we will all have this cohesive musical experience together.....but look around you at a Jacket show and imagine the same type of crowd just much bigger and that much more annoying. Christ, even some of the guys who really know the band can totally ruin an experience for you by showing up utterly wasted out of their mind and not knowing when to shut up.

On this site they have links to each of the songs, I suppose most of them from the original albums. Listening to I Will Sing You Songs from ISM. Relative to their live shows (just heard this in Boston on Fri) it's like a 45 rpm record being played at 33 rpm, LOL.
Still haven't touched evil urges yet. Hope Fridays set isn't loaded with it. This set list is turning out to be just as incredible as Tuesdays.

Wow. That was awesome. Went to both nights and where as night 1 may have had some higher highs, I thought last night had a much smoother flow setlists wise throughout the entire show. They were on point last night kicking ass and taking names. Halfway through and still feel barely satiated. Can't wait for fri n sat.

Best PWW of all time. Incredible live incredible on video.
Overall Night 2 was a grade below night 1 in terms of crowd energy, rarities, and maybe just the freshness of starting off the run but it was a FANTASTIC show.
The one advantage that night 2 had over night 1 (and someone touched on this in another thread) is that at the BEST points on night 1 where silence was essential there were TONS of talkers and brahs going to get their 3rd Bud Light of the evening. I was amazed by both a) how many people were clearly conversant with early stuff and b) how many people valued Waterfall materiel over Dondante for example.
In light of the fact that in 30 seconds 3 comments went up about the greatness of that PWW I want to up the ante and say that it may have been my greatest MMJ concert moment of all time. There's obviously the immediate rush of adrenaline that comes when the distinctive notes of an Into The Woods begins but then things kinda level off and you can just love the song. The PWW last night between minutes 8 and 12 were like doubling your dose of cocaine every 60 seconds for 5 minutes straight.
One additional comment on that PWW: I ruffled some feathers in my White Whales Rarities and Expectations post by exclaiming that my expectations were to have some major bust-outs on this run. Though I don't recant what I said (and Night 1 surely met all expectations (and then some)) the PWW last night was the greatest proof that its not always about the setlist or whether you get an Oxen or not. (IOW I'm buttressing my detractors' opinion). There's a lot of flavors and layers that one was able to soft through during a show's like last night's and though there was only one borderline "rarity" (Where To Begin) (we can debate the status of You Wanna Freak Out) it was still special due to so many other factors.

Echoing all PWW praise and raising it ten fold. Those thirteen minutes may be the best I've ever had in my concert-going history. Sure, it wasn't the most note-perfect version, and maybe it's just the freshness of it all, but THEY FUCKING ROCKED IT and the crowd ATE IT UP. There's something about the right performance with the right crowd -- when it clicks, it's MAGIC!
At the airport now, flying in for tonight's show.. Boston was amazing but these shows appear to be very special.

amsterdam ale house is the closest on 76th and amsterdam, typical pub but ive never eaten there- will probably be pretty crowded
blondies is on 79th between broadway and amsterdam
and on amsterdam between 80 and 82 there are a lot of pubs, island burger does a pretty good cheeseburger, more of a hole in the wall type place than a pub but they shud have beers too.

Yes. It still gives you a chance at the ticket lottery, but its a lot tougher now than it used to be. Especially for NYC & Philly area shows. My buddy heard from a 10c guy (he saw one of them in Columbia) that it's going to be announced next week:

rlb, my wife and I got to make it to the 3 night run up in Chicago back in June of this year and witnessed 67 different songs (only 1 cover - Bob Marley's "Stir It Up", 2 Jim James side project songs from The New Basement Tapes, and a Carl B. solo song, "Carried Away"). It was the best experience of my concert going life (and I've seen a lot over the years)!
Sounds pretty cool,and it's making me regret not going to more of these shows. Next time!

They went back to GA for the first time since the tragedy in Denmark I believe about 15 or so years ago, so it changed the same people up front thing. But it is all seniority based. It's not worth it. You'll do fine on TM at the on sale.

It's not all seniority based anymore, the lottery makes it so that someone joining today has a chance at GA tickets. That being said you are correct about TM being a viable option. Even when I don't get 10c tickets I'm still able to get to the shows I want to.

But, based on the setlist alone I would consider it a special show with just Librarian, Honest Man and Remnants being played. And the encore looked to be pretty kick ass. It's likely that many fans will consider this an epic show with such a smattering of seldom played easy going tunes. If the crowd cooperated I could certainly go along with this notion.

I was there... Show was just too slow, they were losing people quickly. It was my 10th MMJ show and in my opinion easily the worst. I know it's not going to be a popular opinion but I just being brutally honest.
Show never got off the ground. Too many great tunes left out of last night's show now that I see what's left. Ugh... Disappointed!
everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that was a smoking show. rolin back, how do you know, honest man, twilight...slow? not so sure.

I thought that was a fantastic show. I didn't feel it was any "slower" than say Tuesday night, and think the show absolutely did get off the ground. The meat of the show was rocking and I just think at times you had to pay attention. To be honest there were a lot of great songs but then take a song like "memories". When that started i kinda rolled my eyes but being in the first few rows I just didn't want to be a douche and take off to pee or something. I'm glad I didn't because they turned the almost laughable song into a monster with their playing. I was pleasantly surprised. Another new slower one, like a river, I thought had the crowd really into it. I was surprised how many people around me liked that song and sang the "ahhh ahhhh ahh ohhhhh ohhh" parts. It seemed like people were really into the "feel" of that song. I'm just focusing on the some of the slower stuff because I thought it worked great and there was indeed a lot of ragers sprinkled throughout, some great extended jamming and a smokin encore.
Can't wait for tonight.
I think I'd be like, "What... oh YES" with high fives all around multiple times when some of those songs started up. Those were some amazing ones selected for night three. Sure Day Is Coming isn't their best, and Memories can be a bit of a drag on momentum. But overall that show looks incredible. The Waterfall songs too! I wish I was there.

You hit the nail on the head. That's exactly how my reactions went last night as well as many around me.
Another thing that can't be overlooked is the actual quality of each song played. They are peaking, and each song is as well played as I've ever seen them performed. Fucking perfection!
I can't even count how many times this run I've said " that was the best (fill in the blank) I've ever seen" Just amazing! I just hope they really are recording this and we get some type of official release.
That was definitely my least fave of the three so far. Not a knock on how they played, just personal song preference. A lot of songs that I'd skip when listening in the car or something. Oh well, it happens.
the day is coming jam was one of the most incredible things my ears have ever heard....they turned that song into a classic last night
Honestly it definitely was slow, but I liked it.
Finally getting to hear Rollin Back was so awesome.
It was my buddies first MMJ show and he had a blast...though the acoustic start definitely was not ideal for a newbie.

That setlist is unreal!!! Ive been to 35 Jacket shows and for those of you who didnt like the set because it lacked the heavy hitters or something...just go to any other jacket show and you will get that. THAT setlist was for the guys like me who have been waiting a long long time for those old gems to resurface....except i was at home in Wisconsin lol. I think Night 3 could be better than Night 1 just because some of those songs are so unexpected.

Yesterday they did, but not other days. There are so few tickets available on StubHub for tonight - it is looking bleak.
i got 2 tix at the box office at 745 pm for yesterdays show.......in the 12th row of the orchestra!
people are selling outside and I've been monitoring stub hub from 7-8pm.....the prices really didn't drop at all for yesterday but they did on weds.......what sucks is that stub hub stops selling tix for that nights show at 8 pm......there were a bunch of tix still for sale at that point.... wonder if those tix wind up in the scalpers hands from 8-9 pm (showtime)....where do unsold stub hub tix go to die? lol

Don't get me wrong I was excited that the Beacon shows were going to be deep cuts, but last night was just a little too deep in my opinion, like another post said started slowly and never really got off the ground. I think the first two nights had a nice balance of deep cuts, mellow and standard mmj tunes.. Last night was very one directional, again just my opinion

They go back to the sellers as unsold. A lot of people often post tickets looking for a home run sale price, if they don't sell they just go themselves.

That would hinder their business, same way they do not let you submit offers to the seller, same way they eliminated showing you how many tickets are left. Their goal is for you to buy them now, not wait for a deal. For what it's worth, it looks like there are about 30 tickets left for tonight.

Tickets are removed automatically once the time listed on the ticket hits... So 8 PM for tonight
I understand the momentum/setlist flow discussion. At the end of the day, MMJ's early catalogue has a lot of slower tunes, and so to pull off no repeats over 4 nights, there are going to be some slower runs. The only alternative is really shorter shows with less songs overall, or else playing a few staples as repeats over the run. I much prefer what we are getting.

Yes, Night 3 was the best setlist I've seen since 2012. or maybe since T5.
This board is hilarious. If MMJ hadn't played Remnants twice already (at Philly and Boston) everyone would be freaking out and going "Show of the century!" or "Oh my god! Fucking Remnants!" but since they already tried it out, people just go "meh." It's the same deal as Red Rocks, where MMJ put on a freaking amazing, mindblowing 3+ hour set and everyone just complained that they "didn't play enough deep cuts" and "it wsan't special because they tried out that run of songs earlier in the tour." This time around it's "they played too many deep cuts." There is no pleasing this crowd. Good grief.
I think there were maybe 2 people that said anything like that.
Sorry to generalize and pigeonhole the complainers, don't mean to keep them down too much - It's just my opinion that MMJ has played some amazing shows this year that I have attended (Red Rocks and Shrine/LA) and basically everyone just com;ained about the setlists not being varied or "special" enough. Then I see a crazy, deep-cut filled setlist pop up like last night's and I mostly see complaints again. It just seems like this band can't win with 70% of the fans on this board.
It is all based on expectations.
If you go in there expected to get all deep cuts, or if your a newer fan and expect the greatest hits and the waterfall, you may get let down.
We have discussed this on many seperate threads.
If you go in with an open mind and just enjoy and appreciate the "music"
You will leave so much happier.
Sure on the way home u may think, I wish they played this or I wish they played that... But just be grateful for what you did get to hear.
This Beacon run will be some where around 92 songs in 4 nights. Unless you went to every night? They are not going to please everyone.
Just enjoy the show and the music... Tonight will be the last time we see them until next summer (maybe?)... I'm not taking tonight for granted, and want to enjoy it for everything it is

I'm still glad I went, playing was great, but like I said it's just personal song preference. Whether it's a deep cut, rarity, staple, or rocker, there are some songs I just don't care for, and some were played. Like I said, oh well, it happens, and I'm looking forward to the next time I get to see them.

Awesome run at the beacon. I was able to get to Tuesday and Saturday...both sick shows. Not sure if this is breaking news or not but during the encore break of yesterday's show I was chatting with a beacon security member, we remembered each other from Tuesday, and he whispered to me that the band was already talking about doing a 6 night run at the beacon next year. God knows how concrete this is, so take it for what it's worth. That would be awesome though

This would be fantastic. I do beleve they will tour again in 2016.
Now that the fun is over, the questions begin. We can safely assume all four shows were taped for some sort of release, but WHAT?! And WHEN?! I saw Danny Clinch shooting up a storm (and rocking the fuck out, actually) on the first two nights. There were murmurs earlier about a video release, but I've got a pretty keen eye for these things and saw no cameras, on the first two nights, anyway.
I'd love a complete Beacon run box, but maybe we're more realistically looking at a condensed "Live in New York" album? Hope we hear some news in early 2016, anyway!

I would think maybe they would alternate a run like the Beacon and One Big Holiday every year.

as long as the Night 4 Encore is included in its full glory. The jams at the end of Touch Me Pt 2 and Cobra were just perfection.
So did anyone get any video of some of the more rare songs? So far we got JBID (missing the beginning) and little else beyond the hits.

Probably going to be tough. In my sections each night the security were very strict about no videos. I was taking some photos using "burst mode" on my camera to take a bunch in a row and got talked to really fast about "No video recording".

I'm also hoping, and thankfully it is still waaaaay too early to make the definitive "ain't happening" call. The 2012 New Year's Run was announced mid-September. Maybe they are waiting for Lockn to pass before announcing more dates? Same guy who runs Lockn also owns the Capitol in Port Chester.....
