TTB>MMJ yes!!
Highlight of the festival for me right there with those two bands back to back!
Does anyone know anybody going? I would really like to see about a shirt and wonder if there will be a special design for it. So, I will pay a premiummmmm!

So let's see if I got this straight: MMJ isn't on until Saturday night, and you have to give provider your credit card number even though they promise not to use it?

not sure which source you were looking at for a stream...but I was on nugs.tv and they didn't even ask for an email address to watch last night.
Superb stream, multi-cameras, fades, crowd shots to give you the festie feeling. Super excited to have this on my TV all weekend long.
I already have plans for tomorrow night, so I'm going to miss the live stream. This may be a stupid question, but will there be some way to watch them after their set?
Cancel your plans!! :)
thank you all for this thread. long time forum grazer, not so much commentator.
i am pleased that i get to see mmj live from maui at 4:20.

been listening for the last few hours on nugs as well. no logging in or giving any information.
Can't wait to see what tonight brings! I read Brandi Carlile got sick, that's why the schedule is altered a bit.
Enjoyed moon taxis set a lot. Ttb is fabulous as always. The one thing that seems to be missing is the collabs but i havent exactly been glued to the screen so i may have missed some. Any chance for a derek trucks sitin tonight? He has a tendancy to show up all over the place at these things a la jim. Or mabe phil? I wouldve guaranteed a bob wier sitin if he was there.
How awesome would that be if they just came right out of the gates with One Big Holiday?
After this trucks set the crowd will definitely be ready for something like that.

Derek and Susan both came out to play during the Phil Lesh and Friends set earlier.
I only saw bits and pieces of phils set. Of course id miss what i was looking for.
Im hoping for some of that old school bonnaroo magic tonight. They made their name in their name in the jam band glory days of roo. This fest has a similar feel.
go time
Top notch so far
Bringing out the big guns early
I hate to nitpick since it's a free stream, but whoever is directing the video in the production trailer is doing a terrible job.
This Steam tho...

Seconded but oh well...hard to argue with a free Jacket stream
I think they're making some new fans tonight.
Holy shit!!!!
Jim seems rejuvenated!
They are on fire!
Is it me or does it seem like this is a lot less of a "safe" set, like the festival shows of late.
Like they aren't trying to appease new fans.
FUCKING love it!!!

Its definitely not a typical festie set. Wouldnt say its not safe, no deep cuts. It does seem tailored for the jam crowd.
I totally agree. This isn't a typical festival set by any means. Outside of the 2 and 3 night runs you don't typically get deep cuts at a Jacket show (although it does happen) so this is pretty damn good for a festival set. From Steam on it's been a blur of greatness. That Phone Went West was one of the best I've ever seen.
It's weird how they have all been off doing other stuff for the past few months and can just jump back into it and put on a show like this. Unbelievable.
wow this touch me pt 2 jam! angry!!
This version of Touch Me Pt 2 is in another stratosphere!
That was fun.
A glorious set. Wish I could have made the trip.
Jealous of those that went. Thought that was excellent from sitting on my couch. PWW brought me back to beacon(I don't think beacon version can be topped but they definitely channeled and lived up to the challenge while slaying pretty much everything else.). If I would have seen those covers on paper and not heard any of it, I would have dismissed it as contrite and cliche, but Jim in sincere enough, and obviously good enough, to pull it off in front of any hard cynic. The covers killed and usually after they already just killed the end of a sick mmj song, so at that point they already had the crowd EATING out of the palms of their hands.
I'm a little worried about phish heads that never gave them a chance, but were forced to go tonight as their band was playing Friday and Sunday and we're just "there" suddenly getting hooked and making our shows that much more crowded. Obviously I'm sorta kidding, with music, the more the merrier, but maybe not totally kidding.
The crowd seemed very good from what I could tell. Except that one guy in the rail at the beginning of OBH. I definitely think they won over some new phans.
I Was hoping for an interesting Colab but there wasn't really any room with that set list. Derek trucks could've sat in in it makes no difference but it seems like the bands moved on to other covers. And I was very happy with the ones we got. Gave a little sigh at the beginning of both purple rain and could you be loved but they were killer as usual. Who am I to doubt?
Other than Tyrone and Oh Sweet Nuthin, I would always pick a deep cur over a cover, but those covers last night were just brilliant. Rebel Rebel was so tight, true to Bowie but very Jacketesque. Whats really weird is that may be one of my least favorite Bowie songs, until that cover last night. Wow, I hope somebody captured that set.
I started listening yesterday during Galactic just sitting outside listening on my phone with speakers but not watching. I came in to start watching during Phil's set. That really picked up for me when Derek and Susan came out for Mr. Charlie and Sugaree. That Sugaree was the highlight of the day up to that point. Then Anders came out for Shakedown St. and then they went into Terrapin, which is one of my all-time favorite songs. I wish they would have kept Anders as the singer...I think Phil kinda killed it for me. but still a great set with a big ending.
TTB was excellent as expected. And the MMJ set was outstanding!!! State of The Art>Phone Went West :cheesy: :cheesy: that was the highlight for me. I thought they killed it all night and definitely think they made a lot of new fans.
this morning I saw a video clip from late night Steal Your Bass: Phil Lesh, Mike Gordon and The Hard Working Americans. Video I saw had Susan Tedeschi out with them singing He's Gone. The collaborations at this festival are just too good to be true, especially if you're a GD fan. And the CRB haven't even gotten there yet!! Can't wait to see them today followed by another set of Phil and Friends: with the CRB as his band plus Gary Clark Jr.
I think this is by far the best festival of the summer...and I'm not even watching Phish. Might catch a little later to see how they close this weekend down.
Also The Wailers at 2 pm might be a good way to start the day. Sitting out in the sunshine in my backyard with that on sounds like a plan this afternoon. I saw them once, a long time ago, and remember thinking at certain moments: if I close my eyes I just might think it was Bob up there.
Fell asleep after Victory Dance. Any video or rebroadcast of mmj set known of ??
MMJ showed up with a purpose last night and delivered. I'm a fan of several of the headlining acts this weekend but MMJ played the most powerful, professional and rocking show of the weekend thus far IMO. So impressed with the construction and performance of that setlist.
I'm always appreciative of anyone who has the time and skill to capture the audio off these streams and really hope we get to hear this one again.

Thanks for the link. Kudos to the taper, nice capture and a quick turn around.
Missed it last night, hope somebody was able

How 'bout that jammed ending to What The World Needs Now? I love Jim's sincerity and I love Burt Bacharach's songwriting, a pop genius.
OK, just arrived home from a great night.
Having been to OBH 1 & 2, Red Rocks 2015 & 2016, Lewiston, Merriweather and a few others I cannot necessary recall right now - very tired and hoarse - last night was by far the BEST single night I have ever seen!
That set list was insane and they turned it up way, way past 11.
I have to imagine that all who were not too familiar with them were in complete and utter awe - I was and still am.
It was the kind that you read about.
A great big thank you!
Man, I hope this bodes well for Hulaween! What a set list, holy smokes.

I normally don't go to festivals, but to m it was huge and very open with lots of lots of space to move about. We went in for Phil and part of TTB and were immediately behind the sound board. We went back out to our tent to grill up some food, etc. and then arrived back in about 5 minutes before MMJ started. We were able to easily get to about what I would say was 1/2 way between the stage and the sound board in front of Carl without any problem.
The vendors, beer and bathrooms were a bit of a hike from the stage, but once we were in front of Carl, there was no way we were moving.
Longtime lurker here. I love MMJ, but I also love Phish and other bands that value a great love performance. What I saw yesterday from MMJ might have been the best show I've ever seen. It's up there. I was like 8-10 people back from Carl. Mind blown. Might need to make it to Hulaween and give them all my money.

My experience with Phish heads has taught me that the ones that are super into Phish will probably never get into Jacket just because they scoff at the notion that anyone else is really worth their time. Plus, Jacket doesn't really jam the way Phish does so it is destined for failure. I could see us getting some of their more casual fans, though.
Not to worry, though, I have noticed that MMJs tends to suck in the "good kind" of people and filter out the BS.

You should look at a Phish forum. That show converted a lot of people. I guess it took MMJ playing a festival with Phish for them to notice... You'll get the good guys who are into music not just the Phish "scene."

THE JACKET ARE BACK!!!!!
gary clark jr was great, can't wait to see him in mexico.
he'll make a perfect headliner for MMJ's night off.
That was it. That was the best Jacket show I've ever seen.
MMJ's headlining set at Lockn was the musical equivalent of a home run derby. Banger, after banger, after banger. I've seen them a LOT over the last decade, but this set was unlike any MMJ show I've ever seen. There were no dark or quiet moments to be found, just a pedal-to-the-medal 140-minute dance party that soared past their curfew and kept going to damn near 1AM.
On top of what seemed like the most powerful versions of each song I've ever heard, it was the very unexpected covers shot the energy into the stratosphere. "What the World Needs Now..." was pure saccharine joy. And they probably made a couple thousand new fans with that "Phone"/"Could You Be Loved" transition alone. But when they tore into "Rebel Rebel", the place just about exploded. Or maybe it just looked that way because of that juiced-up, fucking HUGE lighting rig.
If they ever return to Lockn, I urge everyone to go -- great festival and great crowd. SO WORTH the drive from Toronto! Before the show started, my girlfriend and I started talking with a guy next to us. He was contemplating heading back to his tent after Tedeschi-Trucks, and we urged him to stay, basically telling him he'd be making the biggest mistake of his life if he missed this set.
He turned to me after every song, making this face:
We'll be seeing him at a show again soon.
Nice!!
crazy how many people that have been seeing them for a long time on here are calling lockn the best show ever. this band has had so many great shows and moments and a lot of times they have different feels. but even at home on the stream by myself the energy and the FEEL of that performance came through loud and clear. when im home watching a stream i tend to be over critical, its just different sitting on the couch than being there. but i got none of that for this set. and i wasnt able to sit on my couch either.
they crushed it
They certainly crushed it as they always do.
I was standing near a couple who had never seen MMJ before, and they were going bananas pretty much the whole night. A few others didn't know AEIOU when it started, but when I turned around and saw them it was clear that they were totally digging it.
I was on Jim's side of the stage (therefore probably more in tune with Jim and Bo and watching/hearing them more), and from my perspective he and Bo seemed to be on fire the entire night. The keys were right up there in the mix and were so awesome for the Marley tune. What the World Needs Now worked so well and then they went into the ripping guitar jam. Sooooo good.
As great as many of the slower songs are, I liked the set without any of them. It was non stop rock with great smooth, flow right into the covers. I was totally surprised to hear new covers thinking that the band have not been together this summer to work up anything new. But obviously they found time to rehearse and learn those songs.......total pros that love music and challenging themselves.
Greatest band. It's hard to say which show is the greatest show because the most recent one usually is. I thought Steam and Part 2 were unusually stellar versions. But in reality all their shows are at such a high level that there isn't much difference between them.
I hope the stream is viewable because I'd like to see the show again.

I was at Lockn this weekend. I know this isn't news at this point, but MMJ killed it. I saw them this year in Raleigh and it was like two different bands. So much energy. I had been listening to so much music up to that point and it gets hard to reach the big highs as the night goes on. But as soon as Victory Dance ended I involuntarily slapped the strangers back next to me and said "now this concert is actually starting!" Really need this video through payment or otherwise. Thank you MMJ!!

i may have been a little too buzzed at that hour on my couch but it almost looked like jim gave a wtf look as he/they were SO in the zone that whole show..
I'M AMAZED that barely two days after the show, we've got two PRIMO audience recordings and a webcast rip. Thanks so much everyone! Still can't tell which recording I like better -- they're all great! The stereo separation is nice on the stream rip but the CM recording packs a serious punch that takes me right back to that magical field in Arrington. Think I'll keep 'em all in the rotation!

Holy hogs...
That was the best Jacket show I've ever seen (Bonnaroo 2011, Detroit 2011, Detroit 2015, Red Rocks 2016, Lockn').
Unbelievable seeing them in a jam band festival environment. I think they made a lot of new fans. I was with a group of Phish/Umphrey's fans, and they all came out of the weekend saying Jacket was their favorite set.
I think I'd take Victory Dance opening every show. Compound Fracture and Off the Record were both SO rockin. Maybe hard to tell from a casual listener, but being there, it just felt different right away. They JAMMED. Best Steam I've ever heard, and maybe the best Phone too. I will never forget the feeling of seeing Jacket absolutely shred in the middle of a field, with such a huge stage setup. Unforgettable.
Just wow.
It was a super sad and lonely night for me to begin with until friend reminded me about the webcast at the last minute. My night was instantly turned into something more akin to Victory Dance. I was just coming off of being at Pearl Jam at Wrigley and Fenway and tried not to set my expectations too high. Boy, was I wrong.
A one man one webcast party blew my mind and elevated me to a place where I was once again in touch with the music of the spheres...
Thank you MMJ.
I'm KeepVid'ing the shit out of this!
Getting goosebumps reading everyone's comments...
I've finally come back to reality from my weekend at Lockn. I will first off admit that I am now a Phish fan. I never really gave their music a listen before the weekend, and they still blew me away. That being said, as Saturday night approached, I started getting worried that the Phish masses weren't going to stick around or appreciate Jacket's set. From my perspective, there really were not too many Jacket fans there. In the end, my anxiety was unfounded...I can attest several dozen random Phish fans that approached me after the show (was wearing my Jim James kimono replica) and said that their minds had been blown. At one point, a guy next to me turned to his friend and I said "I have never heard this band before, and they are f***ing killing it right now!" - not something you expect to hear from too many folks after 2.5 long days of incredible music. I learned that Phish fans pride themselves on being harsh critics.
I went with 4 Phish fans, all of which were excited to show me a good time for my first Phish show. I think they felt obligated to watch MMJ out of respect to me. However, they didn't get in close to the stage with me, but stayed and watched the whole set. When I met back up with them, they were all holding their hands on their head with eyes wide, pondering what they had just experienced and why they had waited so long to do so.
The setlist was just banger after banger. We got extended cuts on every song, and new/improved jam sections on most songs. Best I've heard Jim's voice in some time. The moment I felt the crowd was finally ready to admit their new found love was during "Could You Be Loved" - just wow...I turned around and watched the masses. The energy was incredible.
Long story short, the band definitely gained several thousand, very intelligent, new fans from a Phish community that is extremely dedicated to their music. This can only be a good thing.
any word on getting the video? i see a torrent on Dime, but they are super annoying with their user rights and one can't just join without a lot of hoopla.
Thanks!!

awesome thnk you!
well, im watching the whole thing again while making dinner. such a beautiful thing to behold. i came away from the two nighter in Louisville feeling like there had been a definite rebirth of energy. in the band, in me as a fan, and I remember feeling so satisfied that I didn't even think I needed to go to Red Rocks.. but I did, and they blew me away even more so.. and i've seen them almost 40 times now. i don't know what else to say other than that I am extremely grateful to have found this band and to be a part of this open hearted collective of souls who just seem to get it. definitely, definitely going to try very hard to get to Hulaween now.
I'm a little late to the party, but here are the links to my rips. It has fades applied and the audio tweaked a bit/volume raised - it wasn't the greatest audio to begin, unfortunately. No YouTube anymore, I'm sick of my videos getting taken down for copyright notices.

Best version of Off the Record for me
anyone else noticing the sound delay on the remaining youtube stream?
Are there any others out there that are synched up properly?
I'm not tech savvy enough to rip and store large files, so any help appreciated
(btw, I got back stage for the whole day Saturday - you can see me standing above Carl with my face melting during AEIOMFU)
cheers

Best version of Off the Record for me
Yup, same here. Wondering what the longest version is...this one has gotta be close. And right after the Compound Fracture jam, which just gets better and better every time. Holy hogs.

I recall the Off the Record from the Mann in 2011 being off the charts and quite long but I still have not seen a recording of this show pop up. Anyone?
Can anyone post a synced video of the Lockn web stream? Someone on the FB fan page had it up for a moment but isn't sharing it anymore. Thanks.
Thanks. But does anyone have the video already downloaded? I downloaded it from YouTube using KeepVid.com last week but it goes out of sync.
There's a download link in the lockn - dimeadozen thread in the tapings section. I watched it last weekend and it seemed pretty perfect to me.
I've been in DIME's doghouse due to a poor download/upload ratio, so I don't have the ability to access this version.
I've made so many tapings and videos available for my pals here on the Forum, and mailed out hundreds of DVDs to folks at no charge for years.
Is there anyone out there who can return the favor and get me another way to download the 4.4 GB file for this version or burn me a DVD and drop it in the mail?
Thanks!
This thread did the trick for me. It's only 2.5GB but the quality is great. http://mymorningjacket.net/index.php/topic,20534.60.html
It's the 3rd to last posting that has the links.

Hey John,
Sorry, I tried. I don't like the changes on Dime...used to have a great ratio and they cancelled my account due to not signing in. Just re-signed up and they have some guest ranking where you can view but not download. What a waste. Sorry.
funny observation - looks like the split a pack of hubba bubba during the pre-show huddle - they're all chomping on some gum through the whole set
i've been noticing that Jim has been chewing gum during shows this year.. it kinda cracks me up.. but i've also wondered how the hell he sings with that floating around in his mouth.

Agreed! We are very lucky to have access to so much and very lucky there are still great tapers out there!! :)
I am loving the archive.org version currently but will make my way through them all.
Glad you liked my tape
Thinking about trying a matrix of my aud source and the stream rip sometime soon...

Would love a matrix! Keep up the good work, sir!
Listening to this set again after abstaining for a few weeks and GODDAMN it's just as good as I remember -- if not better!! In terms of sheer listenability, I'd put this recording up there with just about any show out there. Two and a half hours of rampant badassery, and an instant party starter.
ALSO - if anyone can find me a more rockin' and filthily FUNKY version of TMPt2 I'd damn well like to hear it.
I've been listening to it in the car on the way to and from work nearly every day since we got the recordings!! I started disc 2 with AEIOU>PWW so I can always easily find it. Best part of the show for me!
The sound/mix quality is as good as any livedownloads.com show. That Touch Me Part 2 is the sickest!. I listened to this show a lot then recently took a few weeks off from listening. But that will change very soon.

it's Bo's keys that set it apart during that last jam. That TMP2 and the Red Rocks State of the Art are my go-to "let me play something really loud while I have the house to myself" tracks.
I just hit this at the gym today, so good! This may have the best mix of anything I've heard from them. I love how Tom is turned up he can get buried in the mix much of the time.
Is there no way to rewatch this? The whole show?
You're a true hero mr white. Thank you!
