Hey,
I'll definitely be hitting up this show...just wondering if anyone else is, maybe we could meet up and pre-game (drink) before the show. Lemme know!

YES. This is exactly what is great about MMJ fans, the sense that "holy shit, let's get a drink (or 3) before the show together, wouldn't that be awesome" feeling. It's like communing with the larger sphere of influence that is this MMJ universe.
Hell yeah. Y'all should definitely hang together in your respective cities before shows. It's great to meet folks and put faces to names from here and just to share stories and whatnot. I highly recommend it! 8)
Heh. I keep thinking about Bonnaroo. It's like we'll be a little army. :)
SOOO jealous. I just hope a huge storm blows in for you guys like it did last year, so you can have that totally mind-blowing experience as well. ;D

I think that all the fans will by psychically connected, though. When we know for sure what the order is, I recommend those fans that can't be there decide to stay in that night with some beer or your beverage of choice, sit back, open your mind, and allow our telepathic signals to enter your brain. :) Just be sure to wear a raincoat, just in case... ;)

heh, we ARE a little army. but not so little anymore! :)

dave
Me and my friend Danny (lespauldelux) will be there. I'll be wearing my shirt with my avitar on the front. So say high if you see us. Also, if you haven't seen them yet this tour get ready to have your face melted off!!! ;D

dave
There was another dude at the Sloss show with a shirt that had your avatar on the front. Did you see him?
QuoteThere was another dude at the Sloss show with a shirt that had your avatar on the front. Did you see him?
Yeah, we hung out with he and his wife in Athens, they were cool as hell. Good People. What's wierd is we were wearing the exact same Lynard Skynard T-shirt the next night in Athens. Actually no that last part didn't happen but he said he would have been really freaked out if it had.
hehehe... I was sitting here thinking that would have been weird as hell until you said that it wasn't true. It would have been kind of scary.
hey, arrived in asheville a lil while ago so see you all tonight!
i'll be wearing my Color Me Badd shirt.
maybe.
Oh Hell, Riny in the house? It could get crunk tonight.

Crunk real estate - must be right under the flying V
can't wait!!!! how was last night? anticipation is at all time high for those new songs!! I'll be in a white super furry animals shirt and not sure what the mrs. will be wearing but we'd love to meet and talk with all of you that are going...last time they played the Peel, my band was lucky enough to share the stage. wish it could've happened again, they never fail to entertain and impress. we'll probably get a good audience recording, but we can talk about all that after the show. see you there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I was driving home from downtown Asheville about an hour ago to get ready for the show, and I saw Jim walking around outside the orange peel. So I was all like, "Jim James! WOOOO!" and he looked over and waved....yeah...just thought I'd share that. Anyway, I'm off to the rock show...see ya'll there!

On a side note, I think I got pegged in the head with the conductors wand. All I know is I felt something like a stick hit me in the side of the head and when I looked up the conductor didn't have his stick anymore he was just waveing his hands. It was great meeting some more new people and putting faces to names. This band has the best fans you could ever ask for and I'm proud to call myself one. Great Show, Awesome Ceailing Fan, The Hellsayers Rock. No smoking in the Orange Peel so we passed around cigaretts like joints.
What is "Dylan Cover Song"? Inquiring minds want to know. There is a long thread about dylan songs on this forum, who got their wish? Did anyone record this show?
the Dylan song in question was "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You" from Nashville Skyline and performed in the style of the recorded version from the recent Live 1975 Bootleg Series album
wow..!~!!!!!...might be my favorite show yet (including bonnaroo '04) "Off the record" is not only reggae mmj style, it's a fucking awesome catchy pop song w/ Hawaii 5-o references. Sweatboard's right; The Bear was excellent. made me misty, actually. By the way, Sweatboard, THANK YOU!!! Cd's sound awesome. Hope you enjoy The Hellsayers, "The Lonesome Sea". Was glad to able to get it to you after so long..damn record labels and distributors...anyway, it was a pleasure meeting you..a gentleman and a (musical) scholar...enjoy bonnaroo and we'll meet again!!!!!!
So what the hell was the deal with that "conductor"? Is he out there for every show because I tought that shit was lame and distracting?
It was my first MMJ show and that sort of ruined the show for me. What the hell would posess them to do that?

Did anyone notice how the conductor was directing the band during the drum machine part of Lay Low. It was hillarious.

I have very much indeed been enjoying my The Hellsayers, "The Lonesome Sea" album. I've listened to the first track about four times now. Great fucking album all the way through, you should be extreamly proud to put out something like that. It will also be keeping me company on the way to Bonnnaroo. Thanks again, it was great meeting you guys. Shoot me an e-mail if you get a chance. I've got some pictures for you, etc. I probabably won't be able to respond till after Bonnaroo though.
Brian
I thought the whole conductor bit was great.
His presence really added to the whole organized chaos vibe the 40 Watt had going for it. I was a little surprised to hear him being at other shows(I thought we were special ;) ).

Athens was special. "Organized Chaos" is a great way to put it.
wow, I've been offline for a couple of days and things certainly changed fast! New shows, setlists, songs, meetings, excitement... awesome. Setlists seem great.
Is one off the new songs the one that was online with a video for a while?
I was impressed how the conductor (who is he?) stayed with it the entire show. He was committed. It's not something you can just half ass do. My fav part in Athens was the keyboard/synth break in Run Through when the conductor pointed to the keyboards with such force that he about knocked over his note stand. It's obiously a gimmick in order to get on MTV (or the OC). I am sure the band is selling out so they can make millions. I mean, look what the conductor has done for the careers of like Bach and Beethoven. Not too shabby. Personally, I am ready for the MMJ reality show. Get those VCR's ready! ;D

Oh Hell!! thats funny shit. The conductor even has his own groupies now, some girl rushed the stage at the end of the show in Asheville just to make out with him onstage. There won't be any academy awards for that performance though. I'm with you Tracy, I admire that man's dedication.
QuoteI am sure the band is selling out so they can make millions.
What makes you so sure? Why wouldn't they have sold out a long time ago if they were planning to all along. I think that recording a three minute version of "One Big Holiday" (for radio/MTV) or signing with a bigger record company (which they had the oppurtunity to) would both be more profitable ways of selling out. I haven't seen this conductor yet but it's hard to imagine that Jim just all of a sudden decides that he going to be gimmicky in order to make millions after years of being dedicated to the music. And the way that he decides to sell out is by having a conducter!?! I think you're being too quick to call them sell outs.
that part about selling out was a joke I presume!
Irony and the internet...
got ya. I'm still a dinosaur unfamilar with the language of emoticons.
;D is either rock and roll bliss or 'don't take this serious at all' A good alternative would be ;) 'I'm only joking'. That's it basically, all is cool 8)
8) (I think)
Right on!
;)

So very true Brian. And the guys in the band are just great personally as well. Don and I enjoyed meeting so many of you last night, too...a lot. The whole show was magical from before it began until way after it ended. Thanks for the warmth and excellent company all around.
Laurie
ps - The Hellsayers Rock! again :-)
This LaurieBlue woman really seems to know her music !!!!
;D
What a show and what a band...
Soon you won't be able to see MMJ with just a few hundred of your closest MMJ fan/friends !!!
Keep it up!

Tee hee, yeah that was funny when the girl made out with him. The show was AWESOME, I had front row center (a little to the right of the conductors ass). Jim and the boys were awesome; 'I Will Sing' was awesome in the pitch black. Jim threw a banana into the crowd at the end and my buddy's girlfriend caught it (good for her). All around, a very great night...but they definitely didn't need to keep the conductor up there the whole time. I NEED A RECORDING OF THIS SHOW...WILL TRADE CRACK FOR IT. :)
if anyone has a recording of the show i would be extremely interested as well. just give me a shout here. obviously my name is Ryan and you can adress me as such. i'd really love to get my hands on a recording of "off the record" specifically; that song really blew me away. i'm also fond of throwing TV / movie themes into songs like that...i like to randomly insert a "mission impossible" or "james bond theme" into songs that i perform with my band.
Doesn't this conductor guy block the view of the band? I think I'd get fed up with him after a while.
I think I'm already fed up with hin and I haven't seen him yet. Maybe I'm passing judgement a little too quick but all this conductor stuff seems pretty silly. I wonder if they'll start rocking out on 'Somebody Cares About the Maestro' :-/
"The Conductor likes your soft brown eyes on his hair"
;)
Seriously,I kinda liked it and he did not block the view of the band because Jim is standing to his right and Tommy and Carl to his left.He stands in the middle front.

Check me out. It's almost exactly the same as the Exit/IN Picture I'm in.....I'm the one with my arms pumping in the air, and the white shirt. R-O-C-K.
You know rock like sugar knows icecream.
Are you playing airdrums there? That would be cool
rock and roll
Go Brian go!! :)
Don't forget the head nods either.
QuoteYou know rock like sugar knows icecream.

If you look closely Patrick and I are in the same position so I probably was playin air drums at that point. Don't worry the head nods were also in full effect. ;D
ok so ive been reliving this show in my mind for almost a month now, anyone know of a recording of it? :)
Yeah, i've been reliving the show as much as possible and have also been trying like hell to track down a recording...but to no avail. If anyone hears of anything, lemme know! Thanks

QuoteCC...I do remember some douchebag coming up front toward the end to take pics. That wasn't you, was it? ;)
nah, in the end i was standing mid center.
i was the douchebag coming up front in the beginning ;)
Thanks for clearing that up...I can rest easy now.
QuoteThanks for clearing that up...I can rest easy now.
Yes. But if you ever hint again that Riny is a douchebag, your ass will be seriously shredded.
:)
Duely noted :-X
