Title: Does anyone have the ATLANTA bootleg???
Post by: Nikkogino on Oct 07, 2005, 11:29 AM
At the rate I'm going, I will have it by maybe tonight...  Just want to know whether it is worth it.  Is the sound quality any good?  Thanks peeps, playas, and hustlas.

I think it's good there is a lot of chatty folks at times but I thought I pulled a really good recording.  You may want to wait and hear some other peoples oppinions the download will fly once these first people start finishing up.

Thanks...I'm at 66% right now and it is starting to go faster.  I was at the show too and I have to agree that it was amazing.  BTW, where did you record from?

Hey ZZZZZ,

Any chance you might be willing to post your show to archive.org in the mp3/ogg section??

I was there last night and saw your rig, I'd absolutely love to hear your recording but I can't do torrents.  My only computer access is here at work.

Thanks,
Aaron

Nikko,
A rule of thumb for torrents:
Don't jump on when there is only one seeder. If only one person is seeding, you'll get slow downloads. Obviously, someone (or some people) have to be the first ones, but if you want it to be speedy, wait until there are AT LEAST a handful of people seeding.

FLAC Frontend will decode them to wav files which you can burn to cd or listen to on the computer.
http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

just drag the FLAC files to the program screen, select a directory where to put them, and hit decode.  it only takes a few seconds to decode them.

if you use a Mac, google a program called xACT. it works just fine for me.

DAMN! I just realized that my school  has the ports closed on any type of file sharing device, so BitTorrent won't work at all for me here. Any other way of me getting into the file?

seriously, we need some mp3s of this shit....  FLACs suck!  That program won't decode for me and i'm stuck with a bunch of weird files.

I have been dowloading for 7.5 hours and it probably wont be done for another hour or so.

I believe that you will have to wait until the full download is complete before the FLAC files will convert to WAV files successfully, or am I confusing FLACs with SHNs?  Anyways, wait until the download is complete, then try to convert.  Also make sure that you leave your torrent open once it finishes so you can help seed.  MP3s are lossy files.  The WAV files created from the FLACs will sound much better.

will dBpoweramp work?

Nikko,
I'm not trying to be a dick, but you might want to do a little research before jumping into something like this again.

Flacs are a lossless format, which is BETTER than mp3. They do not suck just because you can't get them to play. Flacs are the preferred files for the trading community so that you're not listening to mp3s that are compressed to hell and back.

Again, not trying to be a dick here. Just do a little research before you say that something sucks.

I musta been standing right next to you.  I was just to the right of your rig.  Solid show but I think they could have turned the volume down just a touch.   It got a little blurry and the guitars were bleeding into each other at points.  I'm all for loud, but sometime too loud = bad sound.

I use dbpoweramp for all my torrents.  It does both flac and shn.  I don't know shit about that stuff but I just figured out how to do it by trial and error.

mp3s are better than flacs when you can't get flacs to work though.

ah, you're Flac converter will work fine then. You just have to wait for entire thing to finish downloading before you can convert properly. It won't convert until the whole thing finishes. That's just the way that medium works. But they are MUCH better than mp3 files, since they don't lose any quality through transfer and whatnot.

Just download a flac pulgin for whatever media player you have.  You can also download a flac plugin for whatever program you use to burn cd's.

This should help.

A REALLY great recording at digitalpanic.com - thanks Sloan. Chatty girls standing near the mics, but other than that, it sounds great.

If anyone can't download or has problems transfering files, let me know and I'll burn a few copies and mail them out to help spread.
