Foo Fighters Go Foo-coustic On Summer Tour
May 17, 2006
Foo Fighters
Last year when the Foo Fighters' released their double-CD In Your Honor, the band was discussing some way they could do a special tour for the acoustic half of the record. After rocking out in 2005 on their own and on a well-received tour with Weezer, the band is finally ready to mellow out for the summer. The band has announced the initial theater dates for their acoustic tour, which will find their live lineup doubling in size.
Returning to the fold for the first time in almost a decade is guitarist Pat Smear, who was a touring member of Nirvana in their final days, as well as a guitarist for the Foos in the band's early years. Also on board is violinist Petra Haden (of that dog and solo fame) and The Wallflowers' Rami Jaffee on keyboards. Percussionist Drew Hester, who producer Foo skinman Taylor Hawkins' recent side-project The Coattail Riders, will also be performing with the band.
The tour begins on July 11 in Seattle, and only seven dates have been announced thus far, with more on the way. Opening the shows at various dates will be ex-surfer Timmy Curran, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James and Frank Black of the Pixies.
Foo Fighters announced acoustic dates:
7/11 - Seattle, WA
7/13 - Berkeley, CA
7/17 - San Diego, CA
8/16 - Upper Darby, PA
8/21 - New York, NY
8/22 - Boston, MA
8/25 - Chicago, IL
holy. motherfucking. shit.
Dave is a big fan, right?
I remember reading that in the very first article I saw about the band in Mojo magazine a few years back.
Yeah, MMJ opened for them before.
I have to ask you to change your avatar. I have a ridiculous fear of clowns, especially evil, Rob Zombie-ish clowns.
LOL! ;D
Are you serious? If you're serious I'll change it for you buddy, no problem.
It freaks me out to. :(
Yeah, I'm serious. I hate to ask you to do that, but they REALLY freak me out.

Shoot!
Tix go on sale here in 1 hour, but I need to know if Jim is opening for the Seattle date or not. I'm there if he is, if not - I'm not!
Peace,
Jeff
Yep, it looks like a false alarm. Jim isn't scheduled on any of the dates on their tour page, so no dice.
