Title: Boston Show
Post by: goldenlady27 on Oct 12, 2006, 11:10 AM
just wondering who got all the presale tickets for boston!! I tried to get them at like 1:30pm yesterday and they were gone.  my friend and i are trying to make the trip to boston.  Both of us have never been to Boston so this seemed like a great reason to go.  Can anyone give advice about a hotel and good local bars and so on close to the avalon.

If you got any presale tix for this show and decide not to go..please let me know ;D

peace and chicken grease to all!!!

I am not from Boston so don't trust me on this but when i was there for MMJ last year and there wasn't too much around this venue.  It is next to Fenway and it seemed kind of empty around there in the fall.

Linwood Bar and Grille... not too far, right in the Fenway neighborhood.  Its my regular choice for pregaming before the Avalon.  Great barbecue, has kinda a southern feel, and the bar side has an excellent selection of beers.  hmmm... maybe we can set up a lil pre jacket shindig...

i'm not sure you were in the right area, Landsdown street which avalon is on, is one of the biggest party streets in boston, its entirely made up of clubs and bars, right across from fenway park, there is boston beer works, caske and flagon, copperfields, axis, tequila rain, Jillians, Bills Bar, Auta Nua, boston billards, the Linfield...all pretty much right next to where they play at avalon...

The Linwood is a good call for pre game festivities. A little further away than the other bars/clubs on Landsdowne, but worth the trip and a much better atmosphere...

As far as a place to stay in the area...there is not much that is affordable that I can think of.  Of course, there is the Howard Johnson's, which I think is part of BU's campus now, but I found their website, take a look, it is very close to Landsdowne. Have a good time in Boston..

Does anyone know what time on Thursday the tix go on sale for Avalon? I missed the pre-sale as well, but cannot miss the show!

Tickets on sale at 10:00.....anyone know about how long they'll last? I went to the presale thinking I could snag some no problem but was shut out. Now I'm planning my strategy for getting them and this would be a valuable piece of info.

Thanks.

$150 for a room at Ho Jo's? Welcome to Boston, grab your ankles. Anything in the city will be pricey..
Although Ho Jo's is very close to the Linwood and to the Avalon.

Good luck.

I'll bet they didn't release too many pre-sale tickets.

You can still find tickets to the 11/22 show in Louisville that went on sale on 10/6. If a Louisville show still has tix available,  today I am sure Boston will have tickets beyond Thursday.

But that is just the talk of a mere Junior Member, so take that for what its worth.

Good luck all, see you at the Linwood

It's just knee-jerk reaction for me to buy the moment they go on sale, or pre-sale.  I never thought Lucero would sell out at the Middle East in cambridge, but they managed to do it.  Since then I've left nothing to chance.

Course, you could still buy tickets at the door when they played the Avalon last year.

Hey now I just scored tickets and booked a hotel for the night.  I went through Priceline and got the Marriott Copley for $115.  Is this within walking distance to the Avalon?  If so this was a great deal i guess.

Not within walking distance, but a really nice hotel for $115. From Copley, you can take the T to Kenmore Square and walk from there.

Hey all,

I haven't posted in a long while, but I am in a bit of a jam regarding this Boston show; I entirely missed the pre-sale, and didn't get around to ticketmaster until today, and to my horror I found that this show seems to be sold out...the only tickets I seem to be able to find are from other online sites that are charging $95-115.  In the end, if that's what it takes I just may have to fork out the dough for my own forgetfullness, but I just wanted to send a plea out to the jacket community first:

if there is anyone out there with an extra Avalon ticket for the December 2nd show, and would like to sell it at a price that isn't as jacked up as $95, I'd be really grateful.  The life of a college student can make $100 very hard to come by.

Just know that you'd be supporting a true, long-time fan who's been listening since At Dawn came out, and who first saw the Jacket at their Thunderdome show B'roo 04...after getting Okonokos on Halloween, my MMJ-live-itch is kicking in full force, and I really can't imagine the pains of possibly missing this show.  Thanks everyone, you all rock.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!  I too, in my broke and debt-laden state decided to wait a lil while to get tickets.  Is this show really sold out?  I thought it was gonna sell out, but not this soon in advance.  I am so mad at myself right now.  Somehow this band has exploded in popularity beyond my comprehension, and I am the one who tells people that they're blowing up.  If anyone out there can hook up a ticket or a few or knows a place that is somewhat afforable, please hook up a PM and I will meet you immediatley.  thanks and god bless.

Post Script... FUCK SCALPERS!

I am under the impression that scalpers bought out this entire show and are trying to get $100 a piece for tickets.  That really pisses me off.
