Title: nO Canada
Post by: EC on Oct 18, 2006, 01:44 AM
Zero Canadian tour dates.
Zero Canadian Okonokos screenings.
Zero Canadian listening parties (from what I could gather).

Clearly we Canadians are doing a TERRIBLE job showing our love.  Or else we're being finicky about granting border permits.

(Or else there are other reasons that we can't possibly know about, which is probably the most likely of the situations.)

Nonetheless, Canadians, please unite with me in showing the machine that we, too, love My Morning Jacket.

Where are you my fellow lumberjack shirt wearing backbacon eating canoe wielding palz?  I'm going on near 5 months of Run-Thru drum solo withdrawal, and after quitting smoking, I'm not sure I can take much more.

I have noticed a lack o' Canada on the fan map.  Not that it is an accurate representation of anything.... but still.

Good afternoon, Canada.  How are you, dear?

Meg, Jim told me he won't go back to Canada until the Feudal Ladies Club tour does a Midwest-Southern run from St. Louis to Louisville. :D

Yeah, my Canadian heart is breaking that we're getting no love from MMJ, but like you said, it's probably for reasons we don't know and may never understand!
Just know this, Jim, Patrick, Two-Tone, Bo and Carl: when you're ready to come, we'll be here waiting for you with open arms.
From Kentucky to the Great White North? I pledge my allegiance to the Jacket!

Is there anything you want me to yell at the shows I am going to see? (in 3 weeks, can you believe it?)

Or is there anyone in particualr that you want me to smack in the head or grind on?

I'll do whatever you need me to do to bring the show closer to you...

here's what you have to do:   tell everyone you know to buy 5 copies of the latest MMJ album and when enough people do that then they will come!

I have all sympathy for your cause EC. Too bad there's nothing we can do about it...

Imagine it's been 3 years since they've been to Holland!
Holland, the place were things got moving for MMJ have not been visited by the band in 3 years!

3 years is alot!

On the other hand, we can't say MMJ have been sitting on their asses the last couple of years  ;)

i understand your pain, mr. t.  you and your lovely brother are wonderful fellows.
but, the difference is that we lie but mere hours away.  hours.  not several hours, a few hours.  beyond the border is pure love.

I'll share a thought for Canada on Global Orgasm Day. I don't think there's much more I can do  ;)

Remember folks: December 22:

Global Orgasm Day: For world peace and Canada!

Maybe I can shed some light or brevity to the perceived Canuck MMJ dread drummed up by EC.

The Jacket supported Pearl Jam in Canada recently and from what I gathered, impressed enough to ensure growth of their fan base north of the US border.

MMJ could play here every 6 months but don't expect full houses. Bands like MMJ with no radio hits and little Canadian media exposure should wait for the right time to strike - although I do feel that if they played here on this tour (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or even Calgary), they'd pack mid sized venues because the buzz is currently strong.

I've done my best to get the word out on this band in the Toronto jam band scene - and it seems to be working, although I'm still the only one on Jambands.ca writing reviews of their CDs, DVD and concerts. In fact, there are a number of folks heading out to catch MMJ and The Slip in Boston and Chicago.

I also start threads on the Jambands.ca "forum" when I deem it necessary - I started one Wednesday promoing the Conan appearance.

Also, I've bought many friends MMJ albums as birthday and Christmas presents - and Okonokos will find it's way into a few stockings this Christmas.

Listening and/or Okonokos screening parties? Nope. I failed on that one. My friends are pretty busy and/or married with kids. I screened Okonokos at home by myself, but I did write a review of it shortly after and posted it on Jambands.ca. I believe a number of folks went out and bought it shorty after the review was posted too.

I don't feel snubbed by MMJ. Their next appearance will be all that much more exciting, especially because they've outgrown the crappy Guvernment in Toronto.

they told me that they aren't coming up to canada because you guys don't like football or britney spears as much as us. sorry ec, i tried  :-/

p.s. i'm keeping my fingers crossed EVERY DAY when i think about you coming to Texas. it's actually making it difficult for me to get anything done.

now now now, i don't feel snubbed by mmj, and i'm not trying to push any kind of weirdness or make it seem like i think this band dreads canada.  c'mon now.  it's all tongue in cheek here.  perhaps i need to be more clear about that.

everything i've said in this thread is coupled with my tongue in my cheek and is written purely due to my own grief.  hokay?

thanks for trying, dorothy.  you're a real star. :)
i'm crossing my fingers, too.

Yeah, I need my MMJ fix! I've seen them 5 times (+1 Jim James acoustic) here in Toronto since 2002. It's now been over a year (since I didn't opt for the PJ shows) since my last show, so weez gots to get the boys back up here. March or April dates better pop up soon.
