The following is a true story:
So I work at Barnes & Noble (unfortunately) and the other day one of my booksellers was covering in the music department and told me this story, knowing how much I love MMJ. So this old lady, he said probably late 70's, all blue haired and tiny, came up to the counter to buy the new Bob Dylan. My bookseller remarked that it was a phenomenal album, so good in fact that it has been the only thing occupying his cd player for awhile. So she replied that that was great and now she would have to pull out the cd that had occupied her player for months now.
"Which one is that?" asked Lance.
"Oh, you've probably never heard of this group." said the very old lady.
"Try me!" said Lance.
"Well, they're called My Morning Jacket and I just love those boys!" exclaimed the old lady.
Thanks to my constant Jacket references, Lance new exactly who she was talking about. I literally shit my pants (it was gross), and marveled at the power of this band. I also prayed that I would be as fucking cool as that lady when I get real old.
All praise to the Jacket!
Maybe she was at the boston pops show?
Haha, now that's a great story.

Oh, I just love that. You GO, little lady. You GO.
ALL LADIES LOVE THE JACKET!! AGE IS NO BARRIER

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right there. Still I agree with ali, MMJ's fans can be of any age! :D
Somebody who is 70 now was 25 in 1961. They lived through the time of the Beatles, the Stones, Vietnam, Woodstock etc etc. I'd be more surprised if somebody that age didn't love the Jacket.
I'm impressed this woman still expresses her enjoyment of music. It's easy to feel you don't 'belong' because you're the wrong age.

Yes you're true with your point there. Still though it retrospect and in reference to my own past and future, when I am 70 yrs old other than MMJ, TWS (the white stripes), and a few other groups/musicians, I don't know if I'd want to admit I ever liked much of the music that's been the most popular in the past 5 or 6 years since I'd turned 25.
Personally I think most people are "mega fans" of music more prior to 25, than post, but then again that's just from my experiences.
I'm sure other people can prove me wrong. ;)
dangit, i'm sorry about this, and i hate being technical about crap, but if they were 25 in 1961, they would have been born in '46.

i'm not trying to prove anything or be a jackass about this, but my brain needs to fix mathematical errors when possible. i'm sorry!

Tom, perhaps your brain tries to fix things that aren't broken?
Do the math again.

1961 was 45 yrs ago, so if someone was 25 then, they'd be 70 now. (Or otherwise born in 1936, not 1946.)
Good try! :)

Moi aussi! And I'm a Scorpio, so you-know-what is not too far off........I guess I'm the ancient sea scroll from the Dead Sea on these boards!
My mom rocks out to the Jacket.
Mission Mom Conversion: SUCCESS
Goodness.
I'm sorry for sucking on that one. My brain was almost certain about it. Sheesh. Okay, so. Good deal. Sorry again.
