"OUTSIDE" -- Shark Tank Theatre, 414 Baxter Ave. Ruby is struggling to express herself while at Bleak School, where the use of imagination has been banned. Performed by Squallis Puppeteers with new music by Jim James. 1 and 7 p.m. $5 donation suggested. 540-4977.
New music by Jim James?
I heard about this. I believe he wrote the music for the performance. The tracks were recorded here in Louisville at Kevin Ratterman's increasingly famous studio.
I hope they release a soundtrack of sorts. If not, I'll try to get the hook up, if it's on the level of course.
That sounds great. youtube anyone?
This will make a great double-header w/ the listening party @ BBC (st. matthews).
there is too much going on in Louisville this weekend! I won't be able to make the listening party at the BBC because it's at the same time as Fire the Saddle's final show (I can't miss that). I guess I'll have to go to conaways party instead! :o
I'll see you at the puppet show though.
Oh, man... I want this for my birthday. Screw the 60Gig iPod, I wanna see a Jim James musical.
EDIT-
I just called the Squallis people, and got the lowdown. They said this upcoming weekend performance is sort of a dress rehearsal, a "rough draft" was the term used... Just so we're clear, Jim James will NOT be performing live music, he has produced an, I quote, "ambient soundtrack that runs throughout the play - only the last song has vocals"...
There will be a 'Big Production' showing of the play in January.... so if you're out of state like me, hold your horses until January, for when they've got their act together.
Also, they don't know if Jim plans to release the soundtrack, but the person I was speaking to sounded very, very enthusiastic and pleased with the soundtrack.
I'd love to hear an hour plus of Jim James ambience.
