Has anyone seen this anouncement from the MMJ myspace page. I love these guys. Have I mentioned that?
A Special Announcement from My Morning Jacket for New Year's Eve!!!!...it is the year 2006, almost 2007, and it's new years eve.... a huge party of revelers will come to the fillmore, expecting a my morning jacket concert, but instead they'll be faced with the most difficult and bizarre task of their lives: crossing thru a barren, snow-covered wilderness with no food or shelter, and only the clothes on their backs. those who make it thru the stark wasteland will come out on the other side to experience the heavenly magic of rock and roll, breaking into the new year with a belly full of food and drink, a heart full of courage, and ears bleeding with the raw, moist intensity and power of sticky rock and roll. please come dressed accordingly to make the trip: as a ghost, a gold prospector, a riverboat gambler, laura ingalls, a gypsy, a hobo, a bloodthirsty zombie, a box of cookies, a robot, a buffalo, a prairie daddy or mamma, a bear or whatever you may think you need to help you make it thru the wilderness -its "oregon trail" meets "little house on the prairie" meets the donner party of 2007- in hell!!! on new years eve!!! will anyone make it out alive???? happy (almost) new years!!!! –mmj.
is two tone's "battle plan" coming to life here or what? ;)
oh, and goddamnit!
i want to go to these shows sooo bad.
Yeah, I have a feeling the NYE show will reach Roo '06 heights. Oh well...at least I was at that one. Have fun Y'all!!!! :)
Okonokos II: Return of the Bear
Why is California so far away!!!
They need to do something like this at the center of the country so more people have the chance to go, I'm so pissed I won't be at this.
Oh well, have fun Westerners, I'll probably be asleep before midnight anyway.
These shows WILL BE EPIC!
lucky bast@rds in SF!
let's do this in the hometown, LOUISVILLE!!!
but seriously...this sounds freakin' sweet. if possible someone has to get video of this for us poor folks that can't make it!
They never stop amazing & going beyond what other bands do for the fans! I know for the Okonokos shows no cameras were allowed. Does anyone know if this is being taped for a DVD?
I think I'll go as Laura Ingalls deranged sister! ;)
Little JacketGirl! Are you going to all 3 shows? You MUST get dressed up. It'll be a blast! I'm so jealous! Take pictures! San Fran is my favorite US city!
Will they perform an acapella version of "We Built This City (On Rock And Roll)"?
hey all, i'm new to the forum here but i wanted to let all know that i have one extra ticket for NYE show, so message me if you are interested. peace 8-)
Is there anyone else from the forum going to this show?
You know I will be there. I plan on reliving the whole okonokos experience. I got my costume all ready to go and I hope some one is filming cause it'll be spectacular!
They are gonna play a 20 minute version of cobra into a Dead cover and Madonna will come onstage for the encore and they will rock out with Express Yourself! Then we will all have a orgy backstage and an earthquake will wake us up in the morning and we will have to walk back to civilization with all jim's guitars.
I wish every MMJ fan could be there!
Have a great NYE where ever you are.

I'm going to 2 out of 3!! :) I'm SOOOOO excited, I can barely think of anything else. And yes, dressing up is not even in question. I'll try to bring my camera.
Hope you and your girls have a GREAT holiday Sue, I so wish you could be there. We still need to have that drink. Oh, and I'm going to send you an email about that band I was telling you about....They're playing Jan. 20th @ the Metro.
I'm imagining a "harsh wilderness" transformation for the stairs leading up into and the lobby of the Fillmore. Do ya'll think that the message was intended for all 3 nights, or just NYE?
I LOVE that these guys have so much fun with performing their music, and I can't wait to see what happens!!!
AWESOME!! Have a fantastic time and TELL US ALL ABOUT IT WHEN YOU AND THE CHIEF GET BACK!!! We want ALL the DETAILS!! I hope you get another pic with Jimbo too!! You guys are too cool! 8-)
Love ya! Happy Holidays!!

i have tickets for the 30th, but i wanted them for NYE. i kept thinking i had time cuz that little ticket icon was still up on the page. but then they were all gone. anyway- do you guys think they're going to do something completely amazing at midnight on NYE? i hate to fly all the way out there and see on awesome show on the 30th, but miss something crazy the next night. i'm debating whether or not to give into insanely expensive ebay tickets and sell the others... any thoughts?

My Morning Jacket @ The Fillmore
The dreamy, folky, eclectic, sprawling Kentucky band delivers a memorable performance on the last of their three-night run at the Fillmore. Their live show is not to be missed, as their recently released double live CD set can attest. My Morning Jacket's singer-guitarist and songwriter Jim James emphasizes, "I've always wanted the music—the rhythms, the strings, the guitar solos, everything—to be just as important as the words."
8pm. Tickets: $27.

I saw MMJ at Hunter Mountain for very first time this year. I just saw them in NYC, Philly, and Boston. It was absolutly fantastic three nights!!! NYC was the best of the 3 nights, they were so loud and great that my ears were still ringing and I was still smiling 2 hours later when I got home. They gave me preggers at the philly show then made sure I wasnt peed on in Boston:)
They are selling out every show and creating a buzz that has reached the A-list elite of showbiz. WOW. Which is great I just hope those elite people don't bring down the scene the boys have something real going on!! Jim James has moves for days...fuckin A..they rock!!
PS..being on the east coast...i'm completely, totally jealous of those of you are going to NYE's shows..it will be totally awsome..so enjoy!!!!!!

Anyone know if it's a harsh wilderness on Fri & Sat, too? We're going to both nights, but unfortunately, not NYE, and would LOVE it if the theme were for all 3 nights.
Anyone know?
Thx.
i don't know for sure if it's all three nights, but i would think so. i don't think they'd play two regular shows and then decorate for NYE only. i'm sure something awesome will happen at midnight for that show, but the others should be something special too. sure hope so, or my boyfriend and i will look stupid dressed up on saturday night. :)
guess this means a trip to the thrift shop while in town. or a surplus store...
WOO!
btw--there was no decor or theme at the friday night show. but jim did do a spirited dance before the show wearing a pair of nylons over his head.
science fact.
