Title: Petition for MMJ Homecoming Festival, sign here...
Post by: Kory on Jan 08, 2007, 05:53 PM
Oh beloved Jacket, won't you please give your hometown a killer 3 hour set and let us dress like Daniel Boone and Davey Crocket... I wanna be Abe Lincoln or Colonel Sanders!

How's the spring sound? Something outdoors, something hot, sticky or cold, wet and freezing. It's your home too, we're up for anything and damn proud of ya!

Everyone, please sign below and state where you'd be willing to travel from to get to the great Derby state if they'd honor us with a homecoming.

I'd come from Reno, Nevada but only if the actually played in shelbyville Ky.

on a farm.

They could start their own homecoming festival there every year, in the early fall when the summer heat cools.

we could build a bonfire and slow burn till dawn.

Forum members would be VIP guests of course.

camping would be encouraged.

we could smoke blue grass.

I am coming from San Jose California!!  I am there for all the sticky rock and roll I can take.

I love you guys- I have not been off this cloud since meeting Evonne in the second row Friday night at the Fillmore.
I have found some new old tracks thanks to this Forum and love the streams.
I saw Jim at the Palace of Fine Arts and was totally in heaven back in October.

Lisa Marie

PS another Love Dawg shout out to Patrick-let your freak flag fly!

If I'm not mistaken there is a music festival in Downtown L'ville this summer.  This may be possible.  We can only hope they play and treat us right there.  I don't see why they wouldn't.

I don't think Forecastle is biig enough for them.  Don't they have that at the Mellwood Arts Center. I like the Cherokee Park idea if there was some open space in the park, it's all hills, the great lawn may be a better idea.  I'm thinking a surprise/secret show at Headliners, just like old times!

Yeah, if you had told me ten years ago (high school-aughh!) that I would feel the love that I do for this area, I would have scoffed...

Forcastle is moving to the Belvedere this year so that should be kinda cool.
Dog hill in Cherokee would be very cool, the park probably wouldn't go for that though...

I'd love to see them at headliners, you'd have to camp out for days to get in.

I think you're sort of right but I've gotta dream. If they keep growing like the do, we'll be lucky if they come home at all. Louisville hardly ever gets bigger bands of that tour (not that I want to see half the bands that don't come here) Not that Phish plays anymore but I think they played their last Louisville show in 1995, yet they continued to tour for 9 more years, we just don't have the venue or the crowd draw.

Waterfront park.
Other local bands play till sundown.
Jacket starts at dusk.

Really all you need is money to make this happen.

yo, I was there.  When Johnny stood on top of the monitor and swung his guitar around it was seriously inches from knocking me out.  That was a great show.  I was also at that show at the Rud in 2000 you were talking about the other day.  I'm sure we've bumped into each other a few times over the years.

You know, if we can't get the band I say we all come anyway and everyone that knows how to play music can just play jacket tunes, and various other covers till the sun comes up.  Hell, I'm cool even if you want to bust out some of your originals.  I might even get up there and rock an acoustic guitar for the final Jam of "At Dawn" as the sun cracks the plane.  It will be like the "Last Waltz" except we will do it every year in some big ass field in Kentucky and we will all dance and hug and get naked and howl at the moon.

Seriously, it could be like the Labowski fest.  We could have games and everything.

First Event.

One Big Holliday - Air Guitar Contest.

You need to have a partner so you'll probably have to fight with your friend over who gets to be Carl.  It's awesome because I've already put in hours of practice.  I really feel like I'm at the top of my game right now so........Watch Out!!!!!!

We could have a beard growing contest!  There can't be a winner until the second annual event because we would have to document the length when you enter the first year.

I would like to request Maker's Mark as the official sponser.
